Thought I would take the plunge as I seem to have killed the previous thread . Will put a link on the old thread so you know where to come!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
bogie · 25/02/2008 14:17

MissusH sorry to hear you had such a crap time with the doctors
I'm sure everything will be fine for you.

carrieon · 25/02/2008 14:18

Oh missush that's so worrying and rubbish of the health care professionals! When I had my mc years ago we were on holiday in scotland and the tiny hospital we went to didn't have scanning facilities so they just took my temp and bp in a&e and said 'if the bleeding continues you've lost the baby and if it stops you're probably ok but go to your doctor when you get home' which made for a really happy holidy
I'm sure you're fine though, brown blood is old blood remember, not long til the scan now!

MissusH · 25/02/2008 14:23

Thanks both - that's what I keep saying to myself "brown is old, brown is old".

at your experience carrieon.

I almost felt that as I am only 9+3 then my pregnancy isn't as important as one further along. I think the gp even said something about until you are 24 weeks then there is nothing they can do

Nothing like a bit of reassurance eh?

DebitheScot · 25/02/2008 14:45

hopefully- a reason your midwife date could be 1 day out from docs is that she might not have taken into account 29th Feb, mine didn't. Doesn't explain why she's got it to be 2 days out though.

Bogie- It's nice to read that I'm not the only one with a troublesome toddler at the moment. My ds's latest thing is to scream NO at the top of his voice and very high pitched when he doesn't want to do or eat something. He also has a complete hissy fit about the stupidest things. This morn he wouldn't drink his milk because it wasn't warm (even though it was and he'd stood and watched it in the microwave). And he has to choose his own socks/trousers/tshirts... but won't actually do it properly, and then has a fit if you choose for him.
At least when he farts he says 'bum noise, pardon me' and doesn't blame me!

feelingpositive- you have my sympathies on the solo flight with a toddler. I flew down from Ed on Fri on my own and it was hard work. Not helped by the fact that he had his first ever travelsick incident in the car earlier in the week so I was paranoid he'd be sick again as it was very windy.

shauna72 · 25/02/2008 14:47

Hi everyone,
Not been able to sit up without being sick so not been able to sit at computer for a little while.Thought I was doing better than with DD but obviously not!
Congrats to everyone who has had the happy scan!
I feel so awful, can't even keep those icicle pops down at times. Roll on second trimester.
Midwife didn't turn up to booking appt either, which was doubly bad as I had to take vomit bowl in car with me to get there at all. Still not had date for scan yet and am 10 wks on Thurs, is this normal, should I chase it.( Other midwife seen me now so am booked it)
Sorry to hear that you having bad time MissusH, the NHS can be a real let down at times, as I work for it.Nothing is as reassuring as a scan, and time seems to be standing still for me. Could be another 4 weeks before I get a scan by the look of everyone else

DebitheScot · 25/02/2008 14:50

MissusH- thats so crap that they weren't nice to you at all. Everything is probably fine but thats not the point, they should still treat you the same way as someone further on. You are just as important.

Oh and I had my scan this morn. It went really well (apart from ds thinking it was a monkey!!!!!). Everything is as it should be. They changed my date by 1 day which seems a bit pontless but never mind.
Then I popped into work and told the headteacher and then told everyone else, very exciting! Someone else I work with told me today that she's due on the 4th which is quite cool.

digitalgirl · 25/02/2008 14:51

hi ladies

excitable sorry to hear you're having a tough time at work. hope they sort it out soon.

missusH it's very positive that the spotting has stopped and that there was no pain involved. am sure everything will be fine, but glad you've got a reassurance scan coming up anyway.

kel god, some people really don't know how to say the right thing do they? I hope they apologise soon.

bogie you have a GORGEOUS ds!

Had some friends over for sunday lunch yesterday, they've been trying for a baby longer than us, she's had two miscarriages both at 10.5 weeks. Felt really uncomfortable telling them when I'm only just under 10 weeks. Felt really unpregnant over the weekend, but then I managed to tip a bucket load of water over myself - which reminded me that I probably still am.

Nausea has returned today. And achy lower belly, which is all very promising.

Waiting to hand my notice in this week....oo-er.

Can't wait to find out when my scan is! Am going to go maternity clothes shopping once I get the all clear.

kirstygem · 25/02/2008 14:53

Had my scan today!! Although it is 2nd time round for us I was still ridicuously nervous and excited today. All is well and there only 1 baby in there so thats relief! Its such a great feeling when the midwife puts on her stick and hears the heartbeat.
Feeling so much better at moment, 2nd trimester so much better than 1st.

shauna72 · 25/02/2008 14:56

debitheScot congrats on your scan! How exciting! Can't wait for mine, fingers crossed!

icklegem · 25/02/2008 15:56

Just to let you know had scan today and dates are perfect, exactly 9wks today and bubba looks great!! I'm shocked to be honest. I really thought something was going to be wrong. But there it was wriggling about and heard and saw heart too which was lovely

Have a nuchal scan booked for the 19th March so not too long to wait.

I'm so excited now but beginning to wonder exactly what we've let ourselves in for??

Gem xx

hopefully · 25/02/2008 16:10

Congrats to all those successful scans! Sorry you are having an annoying time with your doc's missush.

How exciting about handing in your notice DG. I know you've told us the whole story, but are you going to work for your other offer, or be a lady of leisure for a while? I am v forgetful... I have to tell my boss this week, which feels nearly as scary.

Ah, just had a really sweet email from the mum of one of my oldest friends. Is so nice now that people know!

The presents have also started. DP's mum could not resist and came round with an M&S pack of baby clothes on the weekend. Is it bad that I don't know the different between a sleepsuit, a babygro, a vest and a snow suit? I did manage to identify the hat though!

kel78 · 25/02/2008 16:10

Just rang hospital as I have still not had a booking in appointmet and they say they have no record of me. I then had to ring doctors who told me nothing to do with them so I then had to ring another hospital who eventually gave me my mw name and contact no and said that I have to ring her tom and ask her to re fax it all. Glad the epau I have been under in a diferent hospital have been so much better than this. 12 weeks on sunday cant wait to start 2nd trimester.

Digital girl- they will never apologise I know them to well now. I will probably be expected to give them an apology.

potxola · 25/02/2008 16:16

Higirls,
Lovely scan pictures. It is amazing how much they can grow in a week. I am looking forward to seeing my little one in a week.

Kel78, yes, no everybody is blessed with great parents in law who want the best for you. Mine have never met my 3 year old son. Well, it is their loss.
I am 11 weeks and the morning, afternoon sickness has come back to make me very dizzy.

digitalgirl · 25/02/2008 17:05

More positive scan stories!! That's brilliant, just brilliant. So happy for all of you

hopefully am starting new job straightaway. Possibly even this Friday! Have only just had a holiday, and not really done much work since I've been back so don't really feel like I need another break.

Can't believe some of you are in the second trimester already. Only two weeks to go for me...unless you count week 13, in which case its 3 weeks.

Excitable · 25/02/2008 17:19

kel what a harsh thing for your in laws to say to you! I think everyone might benefit from a break in that situation. Please tell me you're not going to apologise for being pg!

Potxola my mum had similarly rubbish in-laws and I haven't seen them since I was 7. I thank my parents quite a lot that I don't have to deal with them when I hear stories about them from the rest of the family. Sometimes it's better to move on. You can grow up very happily without grandparents if they're not very good grandparents anyway.

MissusH that sounds utter rubbish. It's just taken me four hours to arrange for a midwife to come and see me. They're supposed to ring me!! I need them to see me this week, because my due date's been brought forward and I'm away with work next week. They're going to spend 2 hours with me, but can only tell me that they can come between 2pm and 4pm! What's that about? I'm not having a fridge delivered here - grrr!

Lol at DG throwing a bucket of water all over herself. Congrats on the new job, by the way - it's definitely better to have maternity pay, pension, etc, etc...

My mood has not been improved by the agenda for the away day I have to go to on Thursday, which includes a poster session. Kill me now. Srsly.

kel78 · 25/02/2008 17:42

Excitable- no im deff not going to apologise, it's actually wrong for me to say its my mil, dp mum actually passed away its actually his dads mum so the grandmother in law who is an absolute nightmare when I got pregnant last time she told dp how we had just spoilt her xmas. Shes 82 and quite a handfull but classes herself as head of the family so you can imagine what she's like. You would never believe just how much I actually do for her considering the cruel things she actually said about me yesterday.

I havent actually seen her DP told her, I really dont intend going there for a few days very hard though as she lives in same street.

Excitable · 25/02/2008 18:34

kel that's really hard that she lives on the same street. Have you been practicing walking past the house with your nose in the air? I would! What is her problem with you having kids? Is it just that she doesn't like them?

meglet · 25/02/2008 19:25

crikey, just realised that we are pregant at pretty much the same time as Angelia Jolie and Gwen Stefani. That will put a frown on my face when they are back in their size 10's seconds after the birth and I'm still moping about in my tracksuit bottoms. I shan't be buying any gossip mags next autumn for fear of seeing them looking glamorous! Pah!

kel sorry you have crappy PIL. Mine are not quite as bad as your but even they drive me mad so I know how you feel.

My sickness is really getting me down and it seems to be getting worse . Got my scan a week tomorrow, I'm desperate to see a healthy, good sized baby after all this. I'm counting the days to next winter when I should hopefully have my health & body back and be able to get to the gym again. I just want to feel well again and eat good food. I could take another tablet in the morning but they send me to sleep so I can't be in charge of DS then. If it gets much worse I'll will see if my mum can pop round and help.

mustsleep · 25/02/2008 19:53

ha meglet i kow what you mean i will def be avoiding looking at skinny peops after september!!

with dd i was pregnant at the same time as britney so not so much to live up to!!

meglet · 25/02/2008 20:06

I hope its still sunny in september after the birth so I can get some sun on my poor battered body before the dark days kick in . Failing that I will be naughty and hop on a sunbed and warm my bones. Bliss. I was having a full leg wax 4 weeks after my c-section last time. ooh , i sound vain, I really am not!

nauseous · 25/02/2008 20:20

hello, thanks for sharing your scans with us, they were amazing! Can't wait for mine, 3 weeks away still. I'm also feeling a bit emotional, I nearly cried when I realised I'd arrived at an important meeting 30 mins late today - I'm also a bit woolly headed at the mo! Sorry to hear you're feeling so rubbish mamamufin. My nausea has definitely waned, though it catches me out occasionally. I bought my first baby stuff today - I couldn't resist a cute little cream fleecy jacket in Next baby - I know its a bit early but it was fun!!

Morning all

Not much to say here either. Still extremely nauseous too. Thank you for all of your kind words of hope. I sympathise for all you nauseous ones, only someone who is going thru it can truly undersatnd.
Thanks for sharing the lovely scan pics. I cant wait for mine now. Still no news of when it may be. I have tried phoning the hosp but I am not on the system yet. I am 11 weeks tomorro. It maddening as the doc wanted me to have an early scan 3 weeks ago and I am still waiting.
meglet I had ds on september 30th. I went into hosp wearing my birkenstocks and came home wearing uggs. I now class his b/day as the change between summer and winter- if that makes sense!
At least Kerry Katotonia is preggers too. That will make us all feel better about ourselves.
LeonieD I too am getting the twin vibe still also. I will be looking forward to your post on friday. Have a fab day girls x

Sunshinemummy · 26/02/2008 11:38

Hi all - been feeling really ill so haven't been on for a few days. Got a terrible cough and bad chest. We were supposed to go and visit family last weekend but I felt too ill to go. Luckily I've got this week off so enjoying loads of sleep and relaxation (although DP keeps leaving me little jobs to do).

Hormones must be all over the place. Called my local beauty salon earlier for a mum to be massage and when they told me therapist is on holiday, I nearly burst into tears. Have so many aches and pains, was really looking forward to being pampered.

Got another midwives appointment on Thursday. Hoping that nuchal bloods will be back and I can get my final risk factor.

Also doing a flight solo with toddler soon. DS and I going to meet DP in San Francisco for our birthdays mid-March (DS's is day before mine). Not really looking forward to it.

Splish - mum died when I was 18. It does get easier but it took a good three years before I started to see the sun again, so to speak. I always like to get flowers in the house for my mum on special days like mother's day, her birthday etc. It makes it feel like I'm honouring her in some small way.

BTW congrats to all those with good scans. My picture is no where near as clear as some of these.
