Thought I would take the plunge as I seem to have killed the previous thread . Will put a link on the old thread so you know where to come!

oh and meglet (sorry to hear your feeling sick), I am missing:

weekend lie-ins (have to eat no later than 8am or i feel nauseous)
soft egg yolks too
bloody steak
smoked salmon bagels
chocolate (gone right off it)
my skinny jeans

mamamufin · 23/02/2008 18:53

Oh dear are smoked salmon bagels really out? . I had one with cream cheese from bagal nash today. It was soooooo nice and the first thing I have enjoyed properly for such a long time. Is that really bad of me?
Also can anyone clear up my confusion about peanut butter. I have been having it on toast. Is it allowed? .
DG the biscuits sound good. But Are they allowed? Heck, enjoy them!
I am very emotional. When people ask about my ms I keep crying and I just cant help it.

LittleConnie · 23/02/2008 19:29

hi ladies
mammufin - sorry to hear you're still having such a tough time. thought i'd share my embarrassing emotional state to try and cheer you up a bit - i burst into tears in the middle of tescos yesterday cos i couldn't find anything i wanted to eat!

congrats on the job offer DG

carrieon · 23/02/2008 19:36

Peanuts are allowed! They're now saying that a bit of exposure could prevent allergies (a bit like letting your children get dirty and not sterilise everything so their immune system is stronger) and as long as there's no history of mega allergies you're fine. I read it in last month's prima baby so it must be true! There were loads of 'pregnancy myths exposed' and they said there's no research to suggest any damage to the baby if you have 1 or 2 units of alcohol a week. Which is good coz last week I had one of those decisions to either tell someone we don't know very well that we're expecting, or keep schtum and drink a glass of red wine

becaroo · 23/02/2008 19:45

Hello ladies.

Havent posted for a while as I am still suffering with ms (on tablets) and my ds has had chickenpox over half term so its been a pretty crappy week all in all.

Good news on all the scans...I have my 10 week scan on weds morning so will let you know how it goes.

Told my ds today as he had guessed (dont ask me how!) He seems pleased but only wants a brother - no girls! Also told my mum and dad who had also already guessed!

Telling in laws tomorrow and dreading it - my MIL was quite spiteful about my last two pregnancies - I know it wont be easy, but nothing worthwhile ever is, is it?

BTW, anyone else got awful spots?

meglet · 23/02/2008 20:31

becaroo I'm getting spots too. Roll on summer when the sunlight can zap them a bit.

bogie · 23/02/2008 22:41

Hi everyone,
Scan went well yesterday i have put a pic in my profile

Excitable · 24/02/2008 09:41

carrieon rofl at your mum saying "whoops!"
Waddya mean whoops - we know what we're doing! We don't all want exactly the same gaps in age for our kids! Whoops indeed! Glad she came round in the end though!

Deb sorry to hear you're missing your best friend - it's not easy when you live apart from the friends that really, really know you. There's something really comforting about not having to explain anything with someone who knows you so well.

Meglet I'm still feeling nauseous too. I'm nearly 14 weeks now, so I'm pretty fed up of it all. I nearly cried the other night when I was so tired and I had to make toast instead of go to bed. DH said he didn't know whether hugging me would make it worse. Yesterday, I needed something to eat and we were in a town I'm not very familiar with, so we went to Morrisons so I could get something to eat. Trouble was, I didn't know what I wanted, and I was getting sicker and sicker and DH was suggesting stuff and I was just shaking my head and trying not to cry because everything we looked at wasn't what I fancied. When I get in those states, I know that if I don't eat the right thing, then I'll definitely be sick, and I'm sooooo tired of being sick. I finally decided after about half an hour of this that I fancied wheat crunchies, but they only sold them in packs of ten. AND it was BOGOF, so I ended up buying 20 packets and now we're knee-deep in wheat crunchies! LittleConnie wrote this story before I got to your post. So pleased to hear this happened to someone else. It's the most distressed I've been in a long time.

Oh yeah, we can put scan pics on our profiles - off to do mine now. Scan was much more exciting than I thought it was going to be. I have a speedy little baby who was playing hide and seek with the sonographer!

mustsleep · 24/02/2008 13:22

omg can't we have bloody steak??

DebitheScot · 24/02/2008 16:00

oops I forgot about how beef is meant to be cooked properly too. I had some the other day, it was very rare!

I thought smoked salmon was ok though.

Excitable- thanks for that, your so right about the 'them understanding you' thing, it is really nice. I speak to her every day just about on msn so that helps but its not the same. I won't see her agin till the end of may now

Feel so sorry for those of you who still feel really rotten, must be awful having to really think before you eat about whether you're stomach will like it

Pidge · 24/02/2008 17:28

I had rare steak yesterday evening - I was just so relieved to find something I could eat, and that temporarily stopped me feeling sick. I suspect any risk is miniscule.

I am off the peanut butter but only because I have eczema, asthma, rhinitis and a walnut/pecan allergy. So even though there isn't any evidence that peanuts can cause a problem, my midwife said I was in the high risk group, and would recommend avoiding. Not a big sacrifice. Before I was feeling too sick to eat I discovered cashew nut butter and almond butter. So that gets me my fix.

kel78 · 24/02/2008 17:37

Hi boogie your scan is really clear im due the 14th sept and the photo they gave me you cant really make out alot. how many weeks was you in that scan

bogie · 24/02/2008 20:29

They think i am 11 weeks well 11+3 now but 11+1 in the scan i was suprised how clear the san was too.
It took 30mins to get the baby to move as it was curled up in a ball so they couldn't mesure it at first.

splishsplosh · 24/02/2008 21:08

It's good to hear more positive scan stories.

Any faint symptoms seem to be disappearing, except slightly sore nipples. Except I had to clear up after the dog had an upset tummy yesterday morning, and that sent me running to the toilet to retch while normally I am made of sterner stuff

I don't have any of these food dilemmas really as am a veggie. Have even recovered from my need to avoid proper food and live on crisps - ate lentils yesterday and quorn today... it's good to feel good, but of course I'm feeling paranoid this means something sinister.... can't wait to have a scan, but knowing the local hospital it'll be nearer 14 weeks than 12, which means nearly 5 weeks to wait

I've contemplated a private scan for reassurance but they're quite expensive, and ultimately what will be will be

I hope the sickness sufferers aren't feeling too bad today

ninja · 25/02/2008 08:20

Well I had a scan on Friday and they've pushed me forward a week (9 weeks 2 on Fri) so here's the new chart. That means 1 less week of ms - whoopee.

Even though I've been through it before, it really did make it real to see the heartbeat etc. I hope the rest of you get scans soon.

There's so much news on this thread I can't keep up alot of us were busy around Christmas!!

Morning all.
Loved the pictures bogie. Hope you have all had a lovely weekend.
I am still feeling like s**t. I woke up at three this morning with my extreme nausea. I was lying there just about 'hanging in there' and after a a lifetime it was six and my dhs alarm went off. I burst into tears and was a whimpering wreck.
The ms is driving me up the wall, everything
is a struggle.
So sorry for mad rant .

hopefully · 25/02/2008 09:20

Yay, am 12 weeks today! Am very pleased to feel mentally past a milestone. My midwife (for some reason) has my due date as 2 days later than it is, based on the same LMP, but I'm sticking to my original one from my and the doc's calculations in my head, but pleased that it'll be later before I'm officially overdue in her head and have to think about inductions and things.

Congrats to everyone who's had scans, it's so exciting that we're all getting further down the line without too much drama.

Morning all,

Just updating the chart for mmy new due date.

hopefully - so pleased you are now 12 weeks, its such a relief when you get to that stage isn't it

mamamuffin - so sorry that you are feeling crap, sending ((hugs)) to you, hope you feel better soon hun

Well I am feeling loads better, no sickness still the occassional headaches. I have to think about buying some maternity trousers soon as the poor baby is being squashed in at the moment.

izzybiz · 25/02/2008 10:39

Morning everyone.

Had a bit of a scare yesterday, Dh and I had a little good morning nookie and when i went to bathroom afterwards, I was bleeding slightly. No pain, so I wore a pad to keep check, and it stopped as soon as it had started.
I'm thinking maybe we nudged something? (Sorry TMI!!)

On a good note I received my scan appointment this morning, 13th March, I'm having a nuchal fold scan, and I'm a little nervous, shouldn't be really, I'm still classed as low risk.

Sore boobs gone, nausea is slowly going, its worse in the evenings.
Went out on Saturday night and the belt I wore had to be taken out a notch, so I seem to be growing

Bogie- I had a look at your scan photo, its really good! And I must say your Ds is gorgeous!!

Morning all,

Just updating the chart for mmy new due date.

feelingpositive · 25/02/2008 12:54

Congrats to those that have had successful 12 week scans. I have received my scan date for 25 March (a month away!!) and then m first midwife appointment on 28th March. They must not want to waste their time in case everything is not right at the scan...

exhausted after weekend in london and two solo flights with DD. soooo nice to be back in my comfy bed last night, have never sleep so well.

splishsplosh my symptoms are weaking too at 9 weeks, lets just hope we are being given a break and that everything will be fine.

vivid dreams are continuing, and have had a really bad back aches too. taking it all as positives though.

x fp

Excitable · 25/02/2008 13:28

Splishsplosh I'm veggie too and I agree that it's much easier to remember things you're not supposed to eat. And I had to run to the toilet after cleaning up my cat's sick - guess I better get used to the bodily fluids, but at least by then I won't be so sick!

mamamuffin what a horrid night - no wonder you felt like a bit of a whimper. I've never been through anything as demanding as MS and want to kill people who say you're not ill, you're pregnant, as I am failing to see the bloody difference. We will feel better, but possibly not today!

I put my scan picture on my profile, if anyone fancies a look. Bogie your little boy is possibly the cutest thing I've ever seen. Lovely scan picture too.

I'm really cross today. My anger has taken hold of me and I've been wanting to thump my desk for hours now. Also, I've been saying that my workload is too heavy since November (including in my written appraisal) and no-one is taking any notice of me. Now I'm pregnant, my capability has dropped and I can only really do what most people get through in my job, but they won't let me drop to that level. Two weeks ago, I took 4 days off work when I started to cough up blood and it took 3 people to do the work that I would normally do. Now my manager wants to have a meeting with me about "lessons learned" from that experience and I'm sure she's going to tell me off for leaving things until the last minute. I don't know how many ways there are to say "You've given me too much work." I'm going to have a walk and try to calm down...

izzybiz + Excitable Thanks he may be cute but he is a monster 90% of the day. His latest thing is to shout at the top of his voice on crowded buses or in resturants "Poo mummy you stinky" or if he farts he will say "mummy pardon you"

Excitable you scan photo is good very clear

Afternoon all, haven't been around for the last few days as I had some time off for half term - just done the mammoth catch up [phew emoticon].

Well, had my booking in apt on Weds with the midwife at the gps surgery and it all went fine. gave me my green notes, a sackful of leaflets etc etc. I was totally shocked when she weighed me - I have lost a stone since I got the bfp I was at weightwatchers just before I got pg so could remember my weight from the last weigh-in! A positive outcome from ms!!!

Anyway, then had a worrying few days. On Thurs pm I had had some brown spotting. On Friday more of the same so I called the numbers the midwife gave me. Local midwives are available between 9 & 10 weekdays, so no help there. The other 24hr on call midwives only apply after 20 weeks, so no joy either. Called the gp to see if I could have a word, but no drs were in and no appointments either Was told to call nhs direct or go to a & e.

On Sat am a little more spotting so off to a & e I go. I wait for 3 hrs only to be told by a gp who is working there for the weekend that there is nothing he can do, no scans are available at the weekends and if I am going to miscarry, then so be it He booked me in for a scan on Weds am which I suppose it better than nothing.

Luckily the spotting seems to have stopped (still having the scan though) and I have not had any red blood or any type of pain. I also still feel yuk so I am taking this as a positive thing...

Aprt from this, I'm fine!!!
