Thought I would take the plunge as I seem to have killed the previous thread . Will put a link on the old thread so you know where to come!

biglips - my bedtime's 8pm too. It's the only way to avoid being sick in the evenings. Yesterday it was 7.45 and although I had the radio on I went straight to sleep and woke up at 10pm with the radio still on! Unfortunately I was then awake from 1am-3am feeling very sick and unable to sleep probably because of my mad early bedtimes. But then back to sleep with a brief interruption when dd2 arrived in our bed at 7, and finally got up at 8.30am. 12 3/4 hours in bed !!!

lollipopmother · 22/02/2008 11:09

I have started to be sensible about going to bed, I go from 9:00 to 9:30 but over the weekend I fully intend to get at least 12hr sleep a night.

hopefully · 22/02/2008 11:29

Any new sunshinemummy? Did you have your scan yesterday?

mamamufin · 22/02/2008 11:39

Good luck at he doctors kel78
Looking forward to bed already .

Sunshinemummy · 22/02/2008 12:54

Hi all - this thread has moved a lot in the last few days.

Well I had a busy day yesterday. Saw the obstetrician first and we discussed options for birth. he was v. good and didn't try to puch me down either route (VBAC or Elective CS) and I don't have to decide for a while, which is great. I'm seeing him again at 24 weeks.

Then we went for the scan. I'd made the rather foolish decision to wear a dress and my Duran Duran knickers and my scanner was a man! I so wasn't expecting it!

Anyway, Baloo was there, little heart beating away, but scanner had real problems getting a good view to do measurements. So I emptied bladder and went back, then went for a walk and went back, then refilled bladder and went back, finally emptied bladder again and we moved to a digital scanner. All seems well and nuchal measurement was low, but they won't give me a full risk factor until my bloods come back as well. Got some great pics and the baby looks nothing like my DS, which was really interesting.

Anyway, all well in the Sunshin household and EED has moved again to 31st August.

Splish - if you ever want to talk about mums I'm all ears. I'm sure you're finding it tough seeing all the Mother's Day things around - I always do, even after 20 years.

Mustsleep - you retain exactly the same hols as if you were at work. When I came back after mat leave last time, I had 40 days of accrued holidays to take, which was fab as it meant I could take an extra, fully paid month off. Am hoping something similar happens this time.

PrePG · 22/02/2008 12:57

Wonderful news sunshinemummy Congrats!

clayre · 22/02/2008 13:22

It's debithescot here but I'm on a friends computer and can't be bothered to log her out and me in.

I've been up in Dundee since Tues and can't believe how much has been written since I last looked! Had a quick scan through the posts, congrats to all those who've had good scans this week. I've got mine Monday morn so hopefully that'll be some more good news.

Have had a good few days with my mum and dad and best friend, taking bad though to having to do the bedtimes and mornings all by myself! When I get back tonight dh will be beig made to do bedtime and I'll be havig a long lie tomorrow! Mind you I did have a bit of a long lie this morn, I didn't hear ds wake up and my mum got him up and breakfasted him so that was nice.

hopefully · 22/02/2008 13:30

Congrats sunshinemummy. So glad to hear it was all good news, even if it took a while to get a good pic!

Are many people going to the baby show at Excel? Hadn't even thought about it, but have a flyer for it in my maternity pack thing that my midwife gave me this morning. I have no intention of reading the 8,000 items of literature that came in the maternity pack, and probably my baby will be born with three heads because I fail to do something crucial, but am suffering an information overload!

Incidentally, I still have a sore arm from my vampire midwife. I think I may be the least brave person I know...

lollipopmother · 22/02/2008 13:36

Hopefully I don't mind needles but I still think the bruise afterwards always hurts more than the ruddy needle!

Sunshinemummy · 22/02/2008 14:18

Hopefully I'm going to the Baby Show at Excel. I'm just waiting for my tickets to come through the post. We're going to get a Phil & Ted, a new Trip Trap (as DS still uses his) and a Maxi Cosi Cabrio Fix. Last time we went we saved £125 on a pram and car seat and the time before we got the Maxi Cosi care seat free with our pram. It's really worth. Go with a list of key items and shop around the stalls - some of them have amazing offers. It's also worth a browse elseweher as well.

I've now had 17 phials of blood taken from me in the course of this pregnancy. Surprised I'm not anaemic!

hopefully · 22/02/2008 15:07

I reckon the need from blood is all a big cover up - we're unknowingly feeding a secret government vampire operation!

I know a couple of things I want, so might see about goign (assume there's still tickets..). Apart from anything, might be good to remind myself of all the things I could buy, even if I don't.

Gracie14 · 22/02/2008 15:21

Hi all,

Sunshinesmummy - Congrats on your scan

I had mine this afternoon and all is okay , baby was standing on his head and they couldn't get the right measurements but after a walk and more water they managed it. Due date has been brought forward to 30th August so 13 weeks tomorrow

Hope you don't mind me staying on this thread though

kel78 · 22/02/2008 17:00

Hi all, thanks for your thoughts. Went to doctors but they said that they could not listen to hb till about 15 weeks not sure how true that is as Ive heard of others who have heard it sooner. Anyway was still in lots of pain so they decided to scan me and baby was fine. Not sure what the pain is but its still there and they didnt really seem concerned. Still have cist so might be to do with that also they said that my bowel felt really blocked. Not supprising I havent been for about a week and a half. How embarrasing. They gave me some supposotries to help me. Anyway edd has moved forward a little bit to 14 th sept which makes me 10 weeks 5 days. So glad everything is ok.

izzybiz · 22/02/2008 17:35

Leonie~ It wasn't that, my consultant thought it was fatty liver of pregnancy. Looked it up afterwards, Scary!
I'm obviously going to be safer this time, I'm sure he will watch me like a hawk, he is very good!

digitalgirl · 22/02/2008 17:45

congrats to all those with successful scans today! so lovely to hear good news.

well, I've been offered the job . a little more than I'm on now, with potential for more in bonuses and is full-time rather than my current 3 days a week. have replied, 'I'm preggars but will probably accept, let's both have a think over the weekend'

now waiting to see what his reply to that will be.

Lilypink · 22/02/2008 18:37

Haven't posted in a while as have been on holiday and so tired that crash to bed after putting DD to down.

So glad to hear all the happy scan stories and also well done DG on your job offer!

I am still feeling sick and get soooo hungry that one day I ate my DD's packed lunch while driving as I honestly thought I was going to be sick! Felt terrible for her and bought her favourite lunch to make up for it - CHIPS!

I think my waist is getting bigger as jean buttons have to be undone by the end of the day! I was in debenhams the other day and bought a couple of things from red herring maternity that were 75% off - so if you have one near you it maybe worth checking it out!

Hope you all manage to have a restful weekend and catch up on much needed sleep - I have a staffing crises at work and having to work sat and sun night - seeing as I am usually in bed at 7pm not sure how I will manage!!

carrieon · 22/02/2008 18:38

Hello ladies. Well I finally told my parents! Mum was with me and I was on the phone to dad so I told them at the same time - while listening to dad saying 'hooray, what wonderful news!' my mum was in the background muttering 'whoops...' accompanied with raised eyebrows and tutting. She wrongly assumed it was an accident coz of small age gap (dd will be 17 months). By the time dh got home from work she'd come round to it and congratulated him! Inlaws were hilarious too, dh told his mum who went silent on the phone then said 'say that again to your father' and put him on the line. dh's brother gets married this year and I don't think they can take all the excitement...!

mustsleep you do acrue holiday while you're on maternity. When I finished maternity leave after dd I wasn't going back to work, so couldn't take the holiday I was entiteled to, so got paid it in cash instead which was ace.

Finally made my booking in appt with the midwife for 7 March when I'll be almost 11wks. By the time she's sent my notes to the hospital and they've written back inviting me to book a scan I should think it'll be almost Christmas...will I EVER see my baby?!

potxola · 22/02/2008 19:30

Sunshinemummy, Gracie and Kel, CONGRATS on the scans. It has been a great scan week.

Digitalgirl, Congrats too on the job offer.
Let's all have a great weekend too.

Hopefully,I am dreading the blood taking in 2 weeks. Nobody can manage to do it in the normal way with me, they can find my veins, so after trying about 5 times in the arm, they always take the blood from my hand.
So this time, i will tell them to go straight to the hand.

splishsplosh · 22/02/2008 21:33

More good scan news - hooray

Sunshinemummy, you're right, it's very hard seeing all the mother's day stuff, though last year was the worst as it's so close to when she died. You must have been fairly young when your mum died - that must have been really difficult

good morning everyone.

I'm still sick, and on the bloomin' tablets. haven't got much of a bump yet which is spooking me, got scan on the 5th.

I am really missing-
soft boiled eggs
red wine
tiramisu
brie

Must go, got work later.

xx

DebitheScot · 23/02/2008 15:04

Blimy I havebn't posted (as me) for so long that I had to go searching for this thread. back home now and missing my best friend already

Not much exciting happening here. Didn't get dressed till 1pm today which was nice, dh took ds out and I slobbed on sofa watching last weeks Corrie episodes that I'd missed. Going to the rugby tonight, hope its not too cold.

DebitheScot · 23/02/2008 15:05

ooh, soft bolied eggs, I had a runny dried egg earlier, is that bad? Oh well never mind.

DebitheScot · 23/02/2008 15:32

fried, not dried

digitalgirl · 23/02/2008 16:39

afternoon ladies, seems quiet here this weekend.

I was trying to have a snooze but there seems to be a man in my bedroom drilling loudly (I think he's an electrician).

still no news on my scan/booking-in date, although the excitement of starting a new job has temporarily displaced my concerns about that.

not looking forward to telling my current bosses, one of whom is away on a two month holiday! i'm not technically an employee so i can leave when i want, but i do feel as though i'm letting them down. oh well, i'm pregnant, have to put myself and the baby first. and the baby needs me to have sick pay and paid holidays and more money to save for all his/her things. and a more interesting job so i don't spend my entire working week on MN refreshing 'active convos'

right off to bake some biscuits. nigella's sweet and salty peanut biscuits to be precise.
