Thought I would take the plunge as I seem to have killed the previous thread . Will put a link on the old thread so you know where to come!

oatmeal porridge is great for constipation and you can buy prunes, chop them and mix them in. Just make sure you drink lots of water too.

I was offered the nuchal scan but on the day they couldn't do it as baby only showed it's front and refused to budge so I'll do the triple bloodtest instead in a couple of weeks.

Evening ladies! I have done sooo much walking today, it's a miracle I'm still awake. First the bus kicked us off 10 stops early, so had to walk the last 20 minutes to work. Then I decided it would be a good idea to do the 40 minute walk from Soho to Clerkenwell for my potential job meeting. Then walked 15 minutes to the bus stop that takes me straight home.

Potential job meeting was very interesting, although with a few more people there than I was expecting, and no actual offer yet, so decided best to keep schtum about the bun in the oven at this stage.

Sorry, I'm rambling. But you see, this is my life. London buses and work and being pregnant.

My dad will be coming over later this with my little brothers (8 and 4), so will break the good news to him at last. Then that's all immediate family told. This will be the first grandchild on both sides (apart from FIL who probably has grandchildren from his two secret earlier marriages, but we don't talk about that).

Anyone still not told their parents?

digitalgirl · 19/02/2008 20:35

ooh starlight have a lovely time in Spain!

splishsplosh · 19/02/2008 20:35

I think that like most things it depends on your pct. Some areas everyone gets offered it, other places only if higher risk, and some areas not at all.
I was offered it last time, but the dr's letter to the hospital got lost, and in the end I only got my scan on the last day it's possible to do it, 13+6 I think, and dd was too big for them to do the measurement (think it's all about proportions), so i had blood test at 16 weeks. Most reliable test is nuchal scan plus blood test, but I think that's rarely offered.

Anyway, lucky you off on holiday. I might go to visit my sister in Brighton tomorrow, but it's not quite the same

hi all,

the owl I've been looking over old mumsnet threads and there are a few recommendations for linseeds to relive constipation.... i've just had some with yogurt so will let you know!! Urgh it's not nice though, I am constantly bloated and windy at the moment. I swell up like a balloon after even the teeniest bit of food. (sorry.... too much information....)

I am drinking loads of water and eating fruit, musli etc but to no avail.

Other than that lots of crazy vivid dreams, and starting to feel slightly chunky round the middle.

Trying to stay patient til the March 10th scan!!

I'd be glad of any other remedies for bloatedness and constipation purlease...

surelyyoucantbeserious · 19/02/2008 21:03

digital I've still not told parents or anyone (apart from DH of course). Want to get past the scan first, just that it's our first and we are being cautious.

My parents came over for sunday lunch recently and I was DESPERATE to tell them! We're already booked in to visit them the weekend after the scan as I will want to see them whatever the news is. Fingers crossed for a big ole celebration.............

First grandchild on both sides for you! That's fab. My parents have 5 already although mum still says it's special every time. Aww!

Are others still waiting for scan?

Good luck to everyone having scans tomorrow, I thought I was fine until I got in the car to go and then I started shitting bricks about it, by the time I got there I thought I was going to be sick with nerves! All this is normal, I haven't even had anything to worry about before either, (I now wish I could go back and see it again and again!) but I bet you lot are far less of a girl than I was about it!

potxola · 19/02/2008 22:20

Starlight, Have a lovely time in Spain, my country. Yes I am Spanish, from the north, near Bilbao. I used to go to the south on holidays when I lived there. I have lived in the UK for almost 20 yrs, half of my life.
Just in case you want to use it:
I am pregnant in Spanish: "ESTOY EMBARAZADA"
Thanks again for telling me about this thread.

Morning ladies

Thinking of all you scan people today? Good luck guys.
I still havent heard when mine is yet .
I am still soooooo sick- its starting to get me down alot. I am still unable to work and am getting paranoid that people at work are talking behind my back.
I have three phases to my day at the mo.
1- on my hands and knees on the bathroom floor being sick.
2- feeling so nauseous I am unable to function, legs wobbly type.
3- for only a small slice of the daynauseous but able to function a little bit-but not for long.
Sorry, sorry for moaning on youll kick me off the tread soon.
Spain sounds lovely Starlight have a lovely time. How long are you off for?
Hey dried apricots are good x

mamamufin · 20/02/2008 08:38

Sorry Leonie x threads!

nauseous · 20/02/2008 08:44

imoscarsmum interesting that carbs make you feel better, protein and salt makes me feel better! Not due till 30 Sept but I'm already looking very slightly tubby around my waist, but then I have been eating masses of food to keep nausea at bay... though I'm also frequently bloated.

I can second the prunes in porridge idea, good luck with that.

Now my nausea has worn off, I'm back to being completely exhausted. Does anyone else find that when one symptoms tails off another comes back with avengance?! Last night I cried because I was so tired and couldn't help but think how shattering a baby/child/toddler was going to be and would I cope, etc etc...Oh dear!

Interesting to hear about your experiences of the about the nucal fold scan - we can only get it at Queen Charlotte's privately for £145. Not sure what to do. Husband seems reticent to talk about it - great! I should probably try to talk to him again.

And before I forget - good luck with your scans today!

mustsleep · 20/02/2008 08:44

my scan isn't until the 12th march i will be 13 weeks!! that's still over three weeks away

and i haven't even seen the midwife yet only get to see her a week before my scan

nauseous · 20/02/2008 08:46

I'm sorry you're so ill mamamufin. Sounds awful. Could you try nux vom and milk thistle drops, or are you already on meds? (Sorry if I missed what was happening in previous threads).

nauseous · 20/02/2008 08:48

Mustsleep we don't see the midwife till the scan date, when we're told to meak ourselves available for 3 hours so they can go through our entire medical history etc etc. Unless I've missed something... Guess they have to save cash etc.. My scan is also ages away, 19th I think.

mamamufin · 20/02/2008 08:55

Thanks Nauseous (I should have your name ) The homeopathy route is the only one I have not gone down. I have literally tried EVERYTHING else. Where can I get these from? How do I know how much to take? Thanks

mustsleep · 20/02/2008 09:19

i know i hope my appt is a nice long one so it feels like the wait was worth it!!
have filled my notes out myself as that's what the receptionist told me to do, but am assuming she will go through them with me, take bloods etc

meglet · 20/02/2008 09:26

starlight have a wonderful holiday! Hope the sun comes out for you.

hopefully I am having crazy dreams too, goodness knows what my brain is up to!

I am having a minor trauma as I forgot to take a tablet last night and my sickness has not arrived today. So I am hoping that it is starting to fade, I am 12 weeks today. Started getting a deranged burts of enthusiasm for doing stuff so fingers crossed I have hit the second trimester energy burst!

DS was a star this morning, he woke up at 8:45, yay! . x

biglips · 20/02/2008 09:33

morning all!.....

Mustsleep - youre in teh same boat as me as my as my scan date is 7th march so ill be 12 weeks and 4 days. ive seen my midwife when i was 8 weeks pg and she told me that ill be seeing her when ill be 16 weeks to hear the heartbeat.

I dont remember much at all last time as im sure i didnt see my midwife when i was 28 weeks pg but i may be wrong plus i didnt get to hear my dd's heartbeat when i was 8 months which i know that right.

my close friend who is pg with her 1st had her scan yesterday and is 13 and a half weeks pg and not 12 weeks as she thought. so she is due on 22nd aug. (i havent told her about me yet as im waiting for the scan and put the surprise on her )

We are gonna tell my DD and DP's DD who is nearly next month about me being pg a week before i have the scan.

biglips · 20/02/2008 09:35

Starlight - have a lovely time on ya hols

nauseous · 20/02/2008 09:53

Mamamufin - I'm using Voegel Milk Thistle 10 drops in a glass of water, morning and night. Nux Vom 30 by Weleda. 2 tablets every 2 hours max, less if you want. (they're also goof doe hangovers aparently - but obviously we won't be geting any of those for a while!)I'm also taking magnesium citrate by Solgar 1 morning and night and I've got B6 in multi-vitamin. (Mg and B6 together are also a good trick for MS). Combined they may well do the trick. I bought mine from As Nature Intended, health food shop, they're all over London. If you're not in Lonodn, you could probably ask as natutre intended to send you them by mail order? Worth a try. Or there are loads of other health food shops online. I hope you are feeling better soon!
