Thought I would take the plunge as I seem to have killed the previous thread . Will put a link on the old thread so you know where to come!

Sorry for the spelling mistakes, trying to type quickly as late for work - again!! I've lost all interest in work since I've become preggers!!

LittleConnie · 20/02/2008 10:11

morning ladies... am crossing all fingers and toes for the scans today, best of luck!

sickness and tiredness seems to be approaching a peak at the moment... not making it into work as often as i'd like but hopefully this means the end is in sight. am so excited to not feel sick anymore some time soon!

having a private scan at 10 weeks next wednesday as my nhs booking in/scan appt isn't til march 25th when i'll be 14 weeks. v nervous but excited to hopefully start spreading the news afterwards, as parents and pil still don't know.

also thinking about putting an offer on our first house this week... could be quite a big year for us

Pidge · 20/02/2008 10:34

My scan is 17th March, which seems a lifetime away.

Current challenge is that I'm on antibiotics which have to be taken on an empty stomach, which in theory means trying to leave 3 hours between meals. Not good in my current sicky, snack obsessed mode. Plus I had to fast from 8pm last night, till 9am this morning for a blood test, not even allowed to drink my beloved squash. Bleeeurgh.

Otherwise though, the sickness is much more manageable than in the last two pregnancies.

potxola · 20/02/2008 10:49

Hi there girls,
GOOD NEWS!!!!!!!!!!! I have just come cabk from the scan. THE BABY IS FINE.
I am exactly 10 weeks and 5 days pregnant. he, and I don't know why I am so sure it is a "he", was very active, dancing what it looked like the hokey cockey, making it difficult to get a good picture.
The Dr. assured me that "He" is well formed so far and that I am probably out of danger.
I will have the routine scan in 2 weeks, but she told me to relax and enjoy it.

Feelingpositive and hopefully, you will be fine too. All the best

Sunshinemummy · 20/02/2008 10:50

Hello all

Confused about the tests everyone gets offered. I've been offered both nuchal and bloods combined both times I've been pregnant. First time at St Thomas' when I was 35 (although I ended up with just bloods as hospital lost my paperwork so I missed the window) and second time at Chelsea and Westminster (I am 37 now though). All they really give you is a risk factor though - only real diagnostics are CVS and Amnio.

Having a v. sicky day today. Retched when I was trying to drink my milkshake this morning and only just managed to eat. On top of that I've got a terrible cough and feeling all round run-down. Daren't take any more sickness though, after having last week off with bleeding. Have managed to book next week as holiday though, which is great.

Splishsplosh - sorry to hear you're dealing with losing your mum. The first three years are really hard I found. My mum's been dead for 20 years this year and I still miss her loads.

Good luck for all scans today. I have my fingers crossed for you and for me for tomorrow.

kel78 · 20/02/2008 10:52

Hi splish splosh- yes it was me I saw my mw at doctors surgery at 7 weeks and have had 2 early scans cos of prev 3 mc but she told me I have my dating scan at 11 weeks 2 days then have whatever tests then my 18 week scan but basically dont see her again until 24 weeks. She even comented on it sounding along time but said it was quite normal. No one has asked me for a wee sample either.

kel78 · 20/02/2008 10:54

Have any of you bought those heart beat doppler things I saw them on another thread and someone recomended them if you were abit anxious. Aparently you can hear heartbeat from 10 weeks on some of them. Ive never used them though so not sure.

potxola · 20/02/2008 10:55

Oh! I forgot something important.
When I went throught the very sicky phase of the pregnancy, I bought the travel bands from Boots, that work by putting pressure on your wrists and within 15 minutes, I stopped feeling nauseous and dizzyand I was able to eat.
Have you tried them? They use them fror travel sickness and morning sickness. They are safe and they worked for me and 2 of my friends.

Sunshinemummy · 20/02/2008 10:56

I haven't bought one Kel because it is sometimes difficult to hear the heartbeat I believe, especially early on, and I don't need any other reasons to panic.

PrePG · 20/02/2008 10:57

Wonderful news Potxola! Congrats!

My scan is not for ages - 20 March. Although I did have an early scan to rule out an ectopic (told the nurse I was feeling crampy and she sent me directly to the hospital) and then a follow up two weeks later because the embryo was not visilbe at the first. So I can't really complain that mine is so far away as I've already seen the little Shrimpy.

I dare say I've been visited by the morning sickness fairy . I haven't felt a wave of nausea since the beginning but the past few days I've got an awful feeling in my stomach and absolutely nothing sounds appetizing. I'm completely shattered and my breasts are not just sore, but painful! I think it must be a growth spurt or something.

TreadmillMom · 20/02/2008 11:34

Good Morning Ladies, so good to read all your posts, I can?t imagine how many threads/posts they?ll be by Sept 2008, its crazy.
Non working day yesterday and I felt utterly lifeless, not sick just seriously lacking energy and motivation. DS2 and I didn?t get out of our nightclothes until mid-day and after a big lunch, I let him have a long bath, then a nice warm cup of milk. My fiendish planned worked and he and I slept for 2 glorious hours before DS1 came home from school. Ha, ha, ha.
I?m 9 weeks now but haven?t had a date yet for my first scan, so lacking in symptoms but trying to remain chilled as I was exactly the same with my first 2 pregnancies, in fact I had bleeds the first 2 times but touch wood, no bleeds so far in this one.
Found out I?m going to be made redundant, great, we?re planning to move house. My last day of employ if I am not re-deployed will be the 14th March, hadn?t told my employer I?m pregnant yet and have no plans to just encase it bias? me in any way.
I?m starting to look bloated so I?m praying I can find another job before I look pregnant.
We desperately need to move, we?re planning to move 30 miles to be closer to family, 2 DC with no family back up is hard, 3 DC with no family back up will be mental breakdown inducing!
The nearest office I could be relocated to is an hours commute, I?ll do if I have to even though I know its going to kill me but at least I could start my leave at the earliest opportunity allowed, 29 weeks.
I?ve got to find a job otherwise no mortgage and no new home near mummy and MIL .

MissusH · 20/02/2008 11:52

Hi All, Haven't posted for a few days as I have been doing a bit of training at work, and am too tired to fire up the laptop at home!

Congrats to those of you who have had their scans, and good luck for the up and comings!!

I have my booking in appt with the midwife this afternoon, so I suppose I will find out more about my scan then (am only 8+5).

I second the travel band idea from Potxola! I bought some on Friday and ever since I have felt okay-ish. I put them on as soon as I stir in the morning (then usually go back to sleep for a bit!) and they have taken the edge off the sickness. I can still feel it there in the pit of my stomach (iykwim?) and I have still gone off certain foods, but I can eat a bit more. I find that these, coupled with regular nibbles of food keep it under control.

It's a good job really, cos dh is working away for the next 2 weeks and if I had to manage with dd in the same state as I was in last week then she would have malnutrition by the time dh came back!!

charitygirl · 20/02/2008 13:12

For some reason, the sickness bands made me feel much worse (reverse auto suggestion on my part probably). But nausea is lessening (I think) on its own, thank god. am just past nine weeks.

booking in 7th March, scan 10th March. Feeling impatient!

Am 30 today - always wanted to get pregnant before i turned 30, and after years of persuading the boyfriend, I just made it!

hopefully · 20/02/2008 13:18

Yay Potxola! That makes 2 of us! All fine at scan. Dates are right, baby has correct number of arms and legs and a heartbeat. It spent most of the scan doing a nice royal wave to us, which had me in fits of giggles, so the sonographer kept losing it! Then it started leaping from one side of the womb to the other, stretching arms and legs out. Very surreal. They were very lovely to me and very reassuring, although did mention that as I was so close to 12 weeks I prob wouldn't get another scan. Not a problem though, as feel completely reassured and am not having nuchal test. Couldn't get over how much like a person it looked! (I appreciate I probably should have realised this...)

digitalgirl · 20/02/2008 13:32

Congrats to Potxola & Hopefully on successful end of trimester scan results! That's brilliant, heartwarming, encouraging news for all of us.

Here's hoping for many more.

Happy 30th Birthday to Charitygirl - I'm the same, really hoped to get PG before 30 (bday in June). How are you celebrating? Will you have a modest glass of champers?

TMM sorry to hear you're being made redundant. I do hope you find a solution in time. If you're planning to go back to work after Maternity Leave, then it shouldn't cost a new employer anything while you're off...so in some ways that could be an incentive to hire you. Or if you're just planning to work for the next 6 months, perhaps you could work as a freelancer, you pay much less tax (I only pay about 15%) as so many expenses are tax deductable.

littleConnie how exciting! new baby, new house! you'll have just enough time for 'nesting' and making it lovely and homely for your new family.

No such exciting news in digitalworld. Am waiting to hear back after yesterday's job chat. Have had lunch already and planned tonight's dinner (sausage and mash). Will chase hospital for scan date tomorrow when I'm not at work.

LittleConnie · 20/02/2008 13:33

fantastic news potxola and hopefully

LittleConnie · 20/02/2008 13:39

thanks DG, and good luck for the prospective job. btw which part of london are you in? just wondered which hospital you're under...

and have a fabulous birthday charitygirl, hope you are well and truly spoilt

potxola · 20/02/2008 13:39

Thanks to all of you.
I am so happy for you hopefully. It was only 3 days ago when we were so worried, and look at us now, happy, happy, happy.

That proves that it is ok to have pains and a bit of blood and it is also ok to stop having symptoms or not having them at all in the first 3 months. Maybe we can now reassure other women who go through the same.

PrePG · 20/02/2008 13:47

Congrats hopefully!!!! That's wonderful news!

LittleConnie I'm in London too - at Kings. It'd be great to know where everyone is going to be delivering so we can see if any of us are at the same?

Happy Birthday charitygirl! Sadly, I didn't make the 30 cut off would've like to! Unfortunately, will JUST have turned 32 when this little one is born!

feelingpositive · 20/02/2008 13:59

Hi potxola and hopefully, good news for me too! Had the scan this morning and baby was there (thankfully) with a strong heatbeat and wriggling around. measuring 8+5 (a day ahead of where I thought). The sonographer was pleased with the stong fast heatbeat and that it was active, so hopefully all will continue!!

so feeling postive is feeling very positive xx

lollipopmother · 20/02/2008 14:01

Brilliant news from the scan-girls, bet you're both relieved, and maybe you're both going to give birth to dancers!

Treadmillmom - Horrible news about being made redundant, I'd still happily swap with the 1hr commute though, I do a 2hr commute and I don't know how i'm going to be dealing with it in the summer months all massive!

PrePG · 20/02/2008 14:21

So happy for all the good scans! Congrats feelingpositive!! Lolli I was on the train this morning and saw a woman with a badge that said Baby on Board and had an Underground logo on it. I supposed TFL gives them out (if you commute to London? and by train?) Thought it was a cute idea and will come in handy during those summer months!

lollipopmother · 20/02/2008 14:25

Prepg Yes that's a very good idea, I'd be amazed if anyone actually took any notice though, a friend of mine has just gone on maternity leave, she wished she'd started it earlier because she said no one ever gave up their seat without her asking and some mornings she just didn't have the strength to ask so she'd be standing all the way with only 1 month to go till her DD, disgraceful I think. Thankfully I get a coach in from Oxford so I get a seat, but it is disgustingly hot in the summer and the seats aren't exactly large either.

expatmom2be · 20/02/2008 14:26

Congrat Potxola, hopefully and feelingpositive! And happy b-day charitygirl.

theowlwhowasafraidofthedark · 20/02/2008 14:28

TreadmillMom - sounds like you're having a really tough time. Do you know whether your redundancy package would be any good? I hope its not causing you too much stress.
