Thought I would take the plunge as I seem to have killed the previous thread . Will put a link on the old thread so you know where to come!

Morning all... have been too knackered to do much posting but really enjoy keeping up with how everyone is progressing. sunsinemummy so sorry you're having a tough time... really hope you're feeling better today.

well i rang the hospital to ask if i can see someone before my booking in/scan at 14 weeks. i've got no major worries but could just do with some reassurance after the mcs. they're booked solid so could only tell me to keep ringing in every day and hope for a cancellation. i've bitten the bullet and booked a private viability scan at london fetal centre for 2 weeks time, when i'll be 10 weeks gone. i know i won't be completely in the clear by then but i really want to tell my family soonish, and will feel so much better if i've seen a heartbeat before i do.

the 2 people i share an office with guessed yesterday and it's such a relief to be able to stop pretending with them!

good luck with the scan kel78

hopefully · 14/02/2008 11:51

Poor old you sunshinemummy. I really feel for you, knowing how worked up I manage to get with no apparent problems at all.

I am soooo excited - I finally have a booking in appointment with my midwife! It's not till I'm about 11.5 weeks, but at least it's finally happening. Wish she would check for a heartbeat, but suppose based on everyone else's experience she probably won't.

I can't believe in only a week and a half I'll have passed the magic 12 week stage! And other people are already practically there

When are people having their 12 weeks scans?

sunshinemommy sorry to hear the awfulness continues - although glad to hear that the bleeding has dwindled.

hopefully my 12 week scan isn't until 20 March - which seems like AGES! 5 weeks from today! Although I'll have it when I'm 11 weeks + as they changed my date at my last scan and now I'm officially a week behind.

Popped into Mamas&Papas in Oxford Circus last night and had a look around. Felt like a complete fraud, but had to tell myself that I'm entitled, I'm pregnant just like all the others in there . They had the new Skate on display which I was convinced I was in love with, but seeing it in person, I think it's way too big for our flat. Trying not to get too ahead of myself, but it is fun!

mamamufin · 14/02/2008 12:36

Hi guys

Starlight I think the drug you have been prescibed is another name for stemetil, which was the first drug I had. I hope it works for you, it made me very drowsy. Yes, I wish I could enjoy my time off too it would be great if I felt healthy!

Just been for my booking in with the mw. Had all bloods taken and filled in the mountain of paperwork. Broke down in tears at one point and told her all about my ms. She was lovely and listened to me. My blood pressure was low 100/60 but my pee was all clear. Still waiting for my scan date.

PrePG I used to love mamas and papas when I was pregnant with my ds. I brought all of the barnaby bear range. Unfortunately, I dont need anything this time round though. But might just treat myself to a new pram! I love them.

lollipopmother · 14/02/2008 13:10

Ninja - could you not just puke on your DHs shoes, he might not be any more sympathetic but at least you've got your own back!!

Starlight - I wouldn't mind being signed off, but I don't think i'm tired enough, I'd have to really lay it on thickly, instead I've just pulled a sicky, and intend on doing the same tomorrow!

If there's anyone having a problem with cooking smells/aftershave etc my partner has come up with a brilliant way of reducing it, he does everything smelly under our extractor hood in the kitchen. A woman's perfume at the bus stop the other day had me gagging repeatedly, luckily I hadn't eaten anything since the night before otherwise everything would've been out!

digitalgirl · 14/02/2008 13:19

sunshine glad to hear you're feeling better today. I think you're right to wait till next Thursday for the scan. In the meantime, I know all too well how tricky it is, but please try not to worry. It seems spotting in early pregnancy is a lot more common than the books make out (it's been three and half weeks and counting for me).

Am STILL waiting for my booking in appointment. Called the hospital two days ago and they seem to think a letter has been sent out. Well...where is it???!

Have told more friends, plus one person at work. Bit worried that I've told too many people, so early on.

carrieon · 14/02/2008 13:21

Happy valentines day everyone! I didn't exactly cover myself in glory this morning when I pushed away the box of chocs dh gave me declaring that even looking at them made me want to hurl. Oops!

digitalgirl · 14/02/2008 13:22

lollipop yep, same here with over-enthusiastic perfume wearers. Not good on the london buses. Have taken to wearing my scarf like a SARS-wary face mask. Why do people think it's a good idea to tip a bottle of perfume over themselves before leaving for work?

Yayhey my scan appointment came through. Its on Mon 25th at 9am which is perfect as it means when I go back to work after half term (Wed 27th coz I don't work Mon or Tues) I'll be able to tell people (if everything goes ok with it).

Anyone got anything nice planned for valentines day? My evening will be spent watching Aberdeen v Bayern Munich in the EUFA cup (dh an Aberdeen fan) and then driving to Heathrow to pick up his parents who are coming down for long weekend.

Am starting to wish that EVERYONE knew. Woke up this morning with sickness as per usual, plus new horrible sore throat like tonsilities.

This was last straw and decided I couldn't go to work. BUt because taking time off for being 'just pregnant' makes me feel like a fraud, I've been stationed by the PC all day checking emails and taking calls.

Feel INCREDIBLY stressed and ill - one colleague is particular is making me actually cry (not when I'm talking to them...) I know it wouldn't help, but I just want to say 'Oy dickheads! I'm pregnant! I'm doing everything you are PLUS I feel sick PLUS I only get about 4 hours sleep a night after you subtract toilet trips PLUS I want to CRY ALL THE TIME. What's your excuse for being useless???'

GAH! Sorry for rant. Hate not being well enough to work - can feel things sliding out of control.

hopefully · 14/02/2008 15:07

Well I am having a deeply romantic valentines. I have bought beef wellington, which I fully intend to get dp to cook, and then I have (baked) cheesecake for pudding, and then I will instruct DP to roll me into bed and leave me alone! He has actually become my slave, the poor chap.

mamamufin · 14/02/2008 15:09

Hey "Charitygirl" stop being so harsh on yourself. You are not 'just pregnant' the sickness you are experiencing is very real, you are allowed to be poorly too. I started off thinking i was a fraud but the reality is very different. Please be nice to yourself and try to relax x

Charitygirl just take some time off if you feel you need it. I feel like I'm letting everyone down being off (and I'm not going in tomorrow either) but I need to put me and Balou first.

Good news in the Sunshine household though. Bleeding seems to have completely gone (touch wood) and pain is so reduced that it just does feel like uterus coming over pelvic bone. Am hoping it will stay like that now and I can get through to next Thursday's scan with no more problems. DP back on Sat so hoping he's not too jetlagged and can spend some time with DS.

Got a lovely Valentine card sent from San Fran today and got one from DS at nursery yesterday - v. sweet.

DebitheScot · 14/02/2008 15:55

mmmm beef wellington mmmm

was thinking about phoning for a pizza or getting fish and chips but maybe I'll just pop into M&S on the way home and get something tasty.

Some of life's decisions are just too hard...

kel78 · 14/02/2008 16:10

Hi had scan this morning and everything was fine baby was moving about and the new date they gave me was spot on with mine today so ive gained an extra 4 days which is great news. They even gave me some photos, u cant really see alot but theyre nice to have. 9 weeks 2 days. Hopefully I will now start to chill out abit, glad everyone elses house is such a tip, I nomally have the mick taken out of me cos im a clean freak always cleaning but I can honestly say I havent done a thing in over a week my poor DH is doing most of it which is the basics. You can now write ur name in some dust so I do hope I feel better soon. Everytime I try to do anything like cooking a pie now for tea I just feel sick. I am ashamed to say that this pie is the first thing I have cooked myself in about 2 weeks how bad is that. Poor family have lived on take away and frozen food. Roll on the blooming stage

hopefully · 14/02/2008 16:15

It is tough... Was meant to get a budget dinner as we are terminally broke, but the beef wellington called to me!

All of you feeling guilty for being ill, please try to reassure yourselves that it is perfectly acceptable to have time off for illness, whether you caught a bug from a colleague or are going to have a baby! The only important thing is you and the baby, so look atfer yourselves and don't let the guilt get you down. You need cheering up in your sicky state, not more depressing.

becaroo · 14/02/2008 16:22

Hi there.

Well, my GP phoned me this morning and asked me how I was doing (??) and said that she thought that the meds she had given me on tuesday weren't the best ones (metaclopromide) and that she s now putting me on Avomine (sp?)

I will take ANYTHING if it makes me function properly.

Oh, and my ds has got chickenpox.....just in time for half term next week

And can I just point out that my ms is not nearly as bad as some of yours sounds and I feel utterly wretched....so stop being so hard on yourselves!!! Thats an order!

icklegem · 14/02/2008 16:30

I feel sick Not just sick, that wouldn't be so bad but I'm sick and dizzy. Wish I could just throw up and feel better but never get that far, just feel really queasy.

It seems to be on and off all day.

I'm supposed to be going to Centre Parcs tomorrow and as yet have done no packing. Don't even know if I have a swiming cossie that fits

Hope you're all keeping well and all the sickness fades soon, Gem xx

charitygirl · 14/02/2008 16:32

Thanks guys - loving having you lot to moan to! Feeling less weepy now.

Here's something that will make you laugh. i made delicious bologonese sauce (beef and pork mince and bacon - last two ingredients are relevant to the story!) on Monday cos I was craving it. Made enough for four portions so that DP and I could have it twice.

DP did the washing up and I asked him to decant and refrigerate the remainder. Came into the kitchen next morning to find a nice tupperware full, without its lid on, having sat out on the counter all night! GRRR!

Now, given that its pork and not just beef, would you heat the shit out of it and eat it anyway (been in the fridge since i found it nach)? I mean the kitchen is pretty cold overnight. Or am I letting greed get the better of me and risking listeriosis? Bloody boyfriend!

becaroo · 14/02/2008 16:33

mama my GP did offer me stemetil first but I had a reaction to it a few years ago when I was prescribed it for viral labyrinthitis.

I wish I could get just 6 hours if sleep...thats all I want !

Sunshinemummy · 14/02/2008 16:59

I would probably risk it Charitygirl.

Yes guilty because I'm really busy and have left loads behind which other people are having to pick up for me. I'm always guilty though as I leave every day (pretty much) dead on 5pm and I feel terrible that colleagues are still there. Silly I know, especially as I did all the long hours pre-DS.

Kel78 glad your scan went well. I got a scan pic at mine last week and we can already tell it doesn't look like DS.

Re. houses I am in the lucky position of having a cleaner. She's wonderful and was only here yesterday so house is spotless. Do have stakes of washing to put away though.
