Thought I would take the plunge as I seem to have killed the previous thread . Will put a link on the old thread so you know where to come!

Sorry guys crossed threads again. The conversation had moved on and I did not keep up.

Excitable · 13/02/2008 12:38

Trying to make up for lost time Mamamufin haven't been much fun lately, so about time I pulled my weight!

Isn't MS a big pile of pants?

Meglet - I'm going to read your thread after I've had my lunch and found my courage. Have a feeling I'm going to open a big hormonal can 'o' worms, but still think it's better to know than not to know! (Someone please remind me I said that later!)

Sunshinemummy · 13/02/2008 12:40

I posted on that thread. It is overwhelming at first but I think there are strategies you can adopt to help you get through it.

MummyToOneForNow · 13/02/2008 13:22

Haven't posted for ages due to crap internet connection and, when it was working, extreme tiredness . Have been very jealous of all those getting scan and appointments already but rang the midwives this morning as I hadn't heard anything and they gave me a date for a booking in appt and a scan (which is only two weeks away!). So I finally feel that something is happening - sometimes I wonder if I am still pregnant as have no major symptoms - almost tempted to go and but myself some more tests but dh would think I am mad as I have done 3 tests already

Well today the central heating repair man came, hooray! Didn't fix it of course, disappeared off to get a part. Maybe one day we'll be warm again.
Thank you charitygirl for the tips on maternity allowance, once I've had scans and things and know I'm not wasting anyone's time I'll hotfoot it down to the jobcentre and see what I can get! I looked on the web and it said you have to have worked 26 of the 66 weeks prior to your due date (I think...) and I can't quite get myself round to doing the maths to see if I qualify. Will get dh onto it!
Got a letter from the docs yesterday inviting me for a smear test. It'll give me great joy to phone them and tell them I'd like a booking in appt instead!

Hello.

Went to docs last night and she was so nice it made me feel quite emotional....I had been prepared for someone not too sympathetic but she was great.

I have been given metaclopromide tablets which seem to be helping with the constant nausea and gastric reflux. She is also sending me for blood tests and I have got to do a wee sample too (she said I looked dehyrated?)

Mamamuffin did your GP mention suppositories??? Sorry to get a bit (ahem) personal but my GP said that if I couldnt tolerate the oral tablets that I could get them as suppositories...you felt great on your tablets when you could keep them down didnt you? Just a thought.......

My poor ds, I am such a rubbish mummy at the moment. House is a tip and my dh is bearing the brunt of it all

Hope to be feeling a lot better by the weekend and I may actually be able to achieve something/leave the house!

Off to have a shower as I smell like roadkill

nauseous · 13/02/2008 13:54

Carrieon, pls can you add me to the Sept thread? I'm 31, live in London and its our 1st baby, due 30th Sept.
Apart from that I'm feeling like hell, (I have perma-nausea, white as a sheet), Becaroo, my house is also a tip - gone are the days of leaving the house looking nice when I leave it - dh is running around getting snacks and food for me whilst I feel guilty, and he's listening to me whinge a lot! Erm, can't do a social life right now as I'm falling asleep at the first opportunity. This pregnancy glow you hear about is clearly a conspiracy!! On the positive side, I can't wait to be a mum, and I just received my scan date for Monday 17th March at Queen Charlotte's!

digitalgirl · 13/02/2008 14:01

I looked up maternity benefits today too.

you have to be working for the same company (without a break) for 26 weeks prior to 15 weeks before your due date, i.e. 41 weeks before you plop, so if you join a new company while preggars they don't have to pay you anything.

so if I do take a new job, I'll get Maternity Allowance (exactly the same as SMP but paid by the government rather than my employer). so I'm no worse off than my current freelance situation.

one thing I couldn't work out is: will I still be entitled to up to 52 weeks leave, or can they sack/replace me while I'm away. would be nice to have a guaranteed job waiting for me, also one that will in future have to pay for my next maternity leave (can't see me saving up for number 2, while paying for number 1's childcare).

(apologies for boring, non-symptomy post)

Added you to the list, nauseous. Hope you get to change your name soon because you're not nauseous at all!

DG I'm sorry I can't help you with your maternity leave. I am officially clueless at this stuff. Might even send DH the link from my work's website and let him work it out. I'm so kind to continually think of more work for him to do ways for him to be involved.

starlight I don't understand why they make hospitals so inaccessible by public transport. Is it so they can charge a mint for the parking, perhaps? I'm so lucky that I live within walking distance of my hospital and we don't need change for the car park, etc. I firmly believe that bus travel is good for kids, though, even though I drive sometimes. All human life is there.

I'm off to have a shower too - glad someone else smells like roadkill. Is anyone else as hairy as a yak too?

Sunshinemummy · 13/02/2008 15:41

Hairy legs - check, hairy armpits - check, hairy lady garden - check, hairy eyebrows that look like caterpillars crawling up my face - check check check.

Thank God DP is away!

Excitable · 13/02/2008 15:43

Hehehehehe! Mine isn't!

hopefully · 13/02/2008 15:51

Hey, sunshinemummy, just seen on your profile that you're in financial services - I'm a financial journalist. How cool are we? God, hope no one from RL is on here, they'll identify me immediately! There are only so many female financial journos of childbearing age out there...

I have a feeling you're entitled to 52 weeks whenever you start DG, but I may be entirely wrong. Go an post on the employment board and the magical flowerybeanbag will be able to tell you. She knows EVERTHING about HR.

Sunshinemummy · 13/02/2008 17:05

Hi Hopefully. Aha I have woked out who you work for I think! I know a couple of people who work there too.

I quite like FS - find it really interesting, however; I'm in IT which is dull dull dull. I used to do business projects but got moved into IT a few years ago. I do work with lovely people, which is a blessing, but the IT side of projects is always the least interesting bit imo.

lollipopmother · 13/02/2008 17:14

Hello all, I've been on mumsnet for a week or so but thought I'd pop my head in here and see how all the other September due date ladies are. I'm due on 4th September and currently feel like death warmed up, I just wish there were more hours in the day to sleeeeep!

mamamufin · 13/02/2008 17:58

Hi lollipop yes some of are feeling icky here too.
Baracoo very interested to hear about your docs appointment. Its so weird how different docs work. I was given stemetil then phenergan then cyclizine. Then the doc offered me metecloprimide as a last resort, but I refused saying "I cant keep anything down so whats the point". Am I right in thinking the meteclopramide is the first drug you have been offered? Weird why it was only a last resort for me! Anyway as much as I dont want to have to stick anything up my backside, If it helps I certainly will. I have got my booking in with the mw tomorrow so will defo ask if I can have some.
Sorry to go on again ladies

kel78 · 13/02/2008 18:53

Hi everyone im glad to say my pains are easing up today and my sickness is back with full swing which I am actually gratefull for as I was starting to worry. I have my 2nd scan tomorrow and cant wait just to see everything is still ok and that there is still a heartbeat. I am a complete panicker after the last 3 mc and although I had scans on them and everything was fine they didnt survive so I will be really glad in 3 weeks to hit the 12 week mark. Fingers crossed for tom

meglet · 13/02/2008 19:06

sunshine & excitable, I am turning into a werewolf too! I hate it! I think I will get DP to take over with DS tomorrow while I lock myself away in the bathroom with wax, bleach and tweezers for a hour or so. Feel so much better when I am 'groomed' - pale skin and dark hair is not very fetching.

DS has had a horrid sickness bug for 48 hours (DP thinks he is developing ms in sympathy with his mummy ). He just threw up over the stairgate in the kitchen doorway and it went everywhere. Hurray for Dettol anti-bac wipes. He's asleep now, totally wiped out poor little thing.

My tummy seems to be showing a bit today (11 weeks), I will have to invest in some new jeans very soon!

ninja · 13/02/2008 19:13

Feeling Sick, Sick, Sick - and DH is SO unsympathetic. Glad I'm not the only one with a tip of a house.

I had my first mw appointment and they booked me in for a scan next week - I'll only be 8.5 weeks. I have no idea why but I'm not complaining!! Will I see much?

kirstygem · 13/02/2008 20:09

Off work this week for half term so having quality time with DD and lovely afternoon naps when she is. Feels like a lfe time ago when I would have used that as an opportunity to clean and tidy everywhere. Standards have dropped hugely and i dont care .
Got 10 day to wait for scan now, so excited to see little one in there. had family down at weekend and they were totally shocked at the size of my stomach already, actually wore a maternoty top to go for lunch and it was so comfy

Pidge · 13/02/2008 20:34

Our house is in chaos too - not helped by the fact that dp has had some horrible post-viral bug for 3 weeks, which means he staggers in from work and goes to bed, then gets up to help get the kids into bed and then back to bed with me at 8.30pm. You should see our laundry back-log! Anyway, he had a day off today (finally) and seems a bit better. He doesn't half time these things - last time he was ill like this I was 9 months pregnant with dd2!

Huge sympathies to those being sick - it is utterly ghastly. Fortunately so far my MS seems much more manageable than with the other two pregnancies. The evenings are crap but if I crawl into bed between 8-9 that makes it easier! I can feel my duvet calling now ...

Sunshinemummy · 13/02/2008 22:25

Well having terrible stomach cramps tonight. Could hardly walk up to nursery to collect DS. Bleeding seems to have stopped thankfully, but I wish they'd scanned me or at least listened to heart beat with doppler as worrying again. Have decided to take tomorrow off as well - pains are much less when lying down.

mamamufin · 14/02/2008 08:32

Hope you are feeling better today sunshinemummy I am glad you are off today also. You need to rest and lookafer yourself.

My dh put his foul smelling aftershave on in the bedroom this morning. How insensitive, I woke up to severe retching and had a massive argument with him.

I have got my midwife appoint this morning. whey hey...

splishsplosh · 14/02/2008 09:15

Sunshinemummy - so sorry to hear you're having all this pain and worry - hope you're feeling a bit better today. If still in pain though, you can always go back to hospital and insist on a scan - or some hospitals have walk in epus, think St Georges, not sure where else. It's horrible having the worry abut what's happening

Sunshinemummy · 14/02/2008 10:51

Well it seems a little better today, although still there, so thinking I might just see how I go. Roll on next Thursday (scan).
