Good morning all you creme egg lovers ( and those weird ones amongst us who don't appreciate them)

Good luck for all the scans coming up this week, and next.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Deese20 · 01/02/2008 11:56

Like the name (although not a convert to the Creme Egg craze

I've been in maternity jeans since about the 12thwk and had to get tops a month ago tp accomodate boobs! Tried not to go too crazy with buying stuff but am very bored of my tops already - yet loving the stretchy jeans waaay too much.

Had the anomaly scan yesterday and HE was sommersaulting like crazy. Has anyone felt movement? I've been feeling rumblings and wriggles for a good month or two and although a bit strange to start with, is quite nice now.
Name game starts now but am feelinng quite chilled about it since found out you have a month to register them. We're going to wait and see what he looks like first.

sweetkitty · 01/02/2008 12:04

I thought this was a genuine Creme Egg-aholic thread then relaised it's a antenatal one I'm on the Due in July one and have already developed a severe craving for Creme Eggs.

It's great to see some of my fellow ttc-er's on here as well, I'm due 10th July an end of June baby would suit me fine though.

aberdeenhiker · 01/02/2008 12:06

dylansluckymum - try drinking a big glass of water before and after you have wine - that normally lets me have my trigger food (chocolate). And I'm really sensitive to the sun and wear a high SPF if it's at all sunny out, even in winter...

goingfor3 · 01/02/2008 12:29

Big wave to sweetkitty!

Deese20 great news about the scan and lovely you saw he was a he! I am so glad I found out what I'm having otherwise I would be very jealous of those who have!

dylansluckymum · 01/02/2008 12:44

g43 don't rub it in! i'm really starting to wish i'd just found out. the suspense seems much worse this time for some reason. i may be really cheeky when we get the 3d scan at 28 weeks or so and find out... mind you i'd never be able to keep it a secret from dh and he'd kill me.

thanks for the tip aberdeen hiker! we're having our after-wedding party here in london on the 1st mar so will prob have a glass of champagne then and will try the water trick.

needahand · 01/02/2008 13:20

Oh right silly me. Didn't realise you had changed the name of the thread. I was wondering why I was the only one posting on the old one!!

Back from my scan and it is a boy...not sure what to think. Apparently everything is pretty normal apart from kidneys so I'll have to go back at 32 weeks

bitofadramaqueen · 01/02/2008 13:44

hey needahand - congratulations!

Re: clothes - I'm in a mix of maternity and regular clothes. I have a hairband holding my jeans and work trousers up (and then covered by a top shop £5 bump band). I did buy some jogging pant/yoga pant style things for wearing about the house/nipping to the shops etc and just got a size bigger. I've got some maternity jeans but feel that I have to keep pulling them up all the time. Feel like I'm in a wierd in betweeny stage. Dont really want to start buying regular trousers in a bigger size (I always find trousers hard to fit anyway and end up having to pay lots so I'd really resent it). Still wearing regular tops - not minding too much if they stretch as no doubt will be sick of the sight of my clothes post baby and be desperate for new ones!

On the subject of maternity clothes anyone seen/tried/bought any decent smart work trousers at a reasonable price? Not much in the shops and so hard to judge via the internet!

Glad other people eating 'banned foods' and wearing underwire btw!!! I'm sticking mostly to wire free (as paranoid first timer) but may get some wire at next fitting to see me through the next couple of months.

Hi Nettie, i've only gained 3lbs so far but I didn't gain much weight with DS. Exciting day today, DS felt the baby kick!! He was really excited, wants to know when he can see the baby. Am having lovely daydreams of DS and baby growing up together, age gap is 3yrs.

Finally managed to eat a proper meal today followed by a giant chocolate flapjack from Don Millers Don't think there's any chance of us getting the nursery done before baby is born but we will probably end up co-sleeping anyway.

Just thought I'd mention it incase anyone has any questions but i'm a breastfeeding counsellor!

josey · 01/02/2008 14:48

better start eating the creme eggs then

Poppy contgrats on your little girl.

Having a horrible day arguing with DH over going away for the weekend, there is no reason to go just a visit to his mother grrr and I dont want to go cause of the weather which he doesnt think is bad enough to stop us going, even if the weather wasnt bad enough now I dont want to go somewhere and be sociable when we are bearly speaking. However the only way to get him speaking will be to go and that will put me in an even worse mood. I hate pregnancy hormones everything seems so much shitter than normal

Think I have put on about a stone and a half so far and I dont give a monkeys uncle got at least another stone and a half to hammer on going by past pregnancies.

Boobs havnet grown much this time round though just the inital spurt its always my back that spreads by about 6 inches was a 34c now a 38DD

Ok off to have a creme egg see if it helps

josey · 01/02/2008 14:50

calebsmum thats good to know Ive always have big problems with bf

dylansluckymum · 01/02/2008 14:58

josey i know how you feel - not arguing about it as dh feels much the same but the in-laws are coming up to see us (well, to see ds really) and we've only been back from a month long holiday for a couple weeks and really not feeling like company yet. of course i'll be expected to put on a roast or something and i just really cannot be bothered. they're lovely people and i know they miss ds but ugh. i guess it's better than having to drive to them and stay the weekend though!! still i know if i wasn't pregnant i wouldn't be all that worked up about it. i'm sure it won't be as bad as you think once you get there. xx

goingfor3 · 01/02/2008 15:30

josey dp is really anti social so I usually have to drag him along to his family do's, but since I got pregnant I have been exactly like him and we are not going to two family do's this month as they are both qite far away and we really can't be bothered!

needahand I hope you are okay and the kidneys will be normal at the next scan. What sex child do you have already?

DLM, lucky you having a 3D scan! I took the girls to my last one and dd2 who has been with me a few times didn't even look up from her DS, dd1 had a look though so glad she is interested in her baby sister!

josey · 01/02/2008 15:49

had another blazing row, its not so much as I cant be bothered his mother and I DONT get on and he always buggers off out to do his own thing, plus his mothers isnt the cleanest or smoke free house the last time we stayed DH became really ill with asthama. The snow is hammering down along with high winds and my Mum is going mad at me not to travel, even his own mother phoned and said to leave it. I have said we will go but he is just shouting at me now saying all sorts bastard springs to mind!! sorry I just cant stop crying now. As much as I love my DH I hate him when like this and I know that will be us on non speaking terms (his doing) till he gets sent back to work yipeee!!

DLM thank your lucky stars your DH will be with you though, last time my in-laws came DH had to go off to work so I had to entertain myself, I even cooked for them to trun round and say decided not to stay for tea

I wish we could make men pregnant for a week.

dylansluckymum · 01/02/2008 15:59

oh josey that really sucks. i can't see why he still has an issue when even his mum says it's a bad idea!

i hate it when men just want to be p*ssed off for the sake of it, especially when you're pregnant and need a bit of extra understanding. someone needs to invent some sort of pill or something they could take to feel the inner turmoil!! hope your day (and weekend) gets better. xx

ChinaSurprise · 01/02/2008 16:08

Josey - imo you shouldn't go. I can't believe they expect you to travel when it's snowing! Is there no way you can put it off? It's awful to go to family dos when you are not getting on especially. DH has a habit of agreeing to weekend family dos and not telling me until the day before and f*ing up my own plans. He always says "Well, you don't have to go" but it's not that simple is it?!
Can't you tell them it clashes with something/ one of your friends is ill/ ANYTHING?
Am sure DH is wonderful most of the time, but I guess we've all got blind spots when it comes to family.
Fwiw you shouldn't have to go to any house that isn't smoke free at the moment.
Good luck!

josey · 01/02/2008 16:12

Thanks you lot just need to explode a bit. Its not even a do he has just decided he wants to go as he is at home. It will be at least a 3 hour drive as well, but as we have fallen out so badly now we arent going as we would have left ages ago and arent even packed so stuff him. Im away to bed with a book he can get on with life without me.

needahand · 01/02/2008 16:12

Hi ladies

I update the list. Also took the opportunity to (very sadly and reluctantly) remove Littlemy34 as I am worried she would be upset if she ever lurked back if reminded of her EDD.

needahand · 01/02/2008 16:16

going43 I have a DD. Not too worried about the kidney thing. The norm is to measure five and DBS was sometimes 5 and sometimes 6. Can't be too bad. I am resolute not to worry about it as it is probably hospital just being cautious

ChinaSurprise · 01/02/2008 16:47

Josey, sounds like a book and bed is just what you need.
Hope tomorrow is a better day. ((hug))

Upsidedownegg · 01/02/2008 19:49

Evening, creme egg lovers.

There are fifty new messages since the last time I posted yesterday evening. Wow!

Dylansmum - forgot to say Congratulations! Do you feel any different now you're married?

Needahand - glad you're not worried about the kidney thing. So good that they will rescan so that you know what's going on. Congratulations on the boy.

Josey - I hope tomorrow's OK. I hate rowing with my DH (especially when I'm pg) as it always feels like the end of the world. Then two hours later everything's fine.

On a different note, and I realise that it's not terribly relevant to us at the moment but I had to share it! (I think those who have boys now will understand)

DS and I were at a friend's house this afternoon. She has two boys and was playing a DVD she calls 'digger porn'.

Oh My God. DS was transfixed and provided a running commentary all the way through (so I feel good that he wasn't just being a couch potato) He really doesn't watch much telly at all, but I think it's the best boy TV I have ever seen.

I don't think I realised when I had a boy how different boys are from us.

libralady · 01/02/2008 20:28

I just have a quick question. It's the start of the Six Nations Rugby Tournament tomorrow and even when not pregnant I only drink very very occasionally, but tend to have a few when watching the rugby. Does anyone know if it is OK to drink just one can of cider would be OK. As yet I haven't touched a drop throughout this pregnancy and I am currently 18+3. The units on the side of the can say 2.3.
It's the BIG one tomorrow England vs Wales and I would like to 'join in' if at all possible.
Mind you I'll probably take one sniff and either be under the table, or decide I don't want it anyway

Upsidedownegg · 01/02/2008 20:36

This is the current English Department of Health advice.

A maximum of between 1 and 2 units once or twice a week.

sophiewd · 01/02/2008 20:37

I would have thought so, occasionally I will have 2-3 glasses of wine (have done a couple of times this pregnancy) and will be cheering on Wales tomorrow

pyjamarama · 01/02/2008 20:46

Hello all,

not posted in a long while as worked horrid week of 13 hour (9am-10pm) shifts on medical admissions ward, half the patients i admitted were with diarrhoea and vomiting, so no surprised what i then spent the next four days doing. This despite turning into Lady Macbeth, as now a bit paranoid about other folks germs.
Congrats on everyones scans, any boys manes suggestions would be gratefully received.....
Oh and how do i get myself on list (i'm a total luddite)
