Good morning all you creme egg lovers ( and those weird ones amongst us who don't appreciate them)

Good luck for all the scans coming up this week, and next.

SA - I can't believe you have even thought about packing a hospital bag yet!!!! I can't imagine packing mine until about 36 weeks. Mind you I am not going to pack as much as last time so it shouldn't take long.

Neenz - they sound like BH to me. I used to get them with my ds, can't remember when but not this early. It used to amaze me that I could see my belly visibly tighen but not really feel anything at all. If only the real thing were like that

Can't remember who had leaky breasts but I think it varies from person to person so don't worry it sounds normal. I'd definitely reccommend getting some pads. The washable ones are really good, quite pricey when compared to the disposables but loads more comfortable as the don't stick to your boobs plus if you start using them now you should get your monies worth.

Josey - hope you are over your fall.

Sophie - hope you had a great relaxing time without your dh/dd at the weekend.

We had a bad weekend. Started off we me getting my first ever parking ticket. With my typical pregnancy brain I looked at the parking sign read 2 hours and missed the line where it said pay for tickets at the meter - oops!!!! Fortunately dh was very understanding. Then my ds played up all day yesterday, he wouldn't settle to do anything. It was particularly galling as he has been in a gorgeous mood all week with his grandparents and it's my first week back at fulltime work so I had hoped to make the most of our precious time together - such is life. Then my dh came down with some mystery bug during the night so I spent the night on the sofa but couldn't sleep at all (max 2 hours) so am amazed I am still wide awake - that's adrenalin for you. My dh is in denial that he has a bug, says it's food poisoining, despite me being fine and now we find out that his boss and all his family are sick with the same bug. So I guess I can look forward to me and/or my ds getting it. What joy. Oh well at the least the sun is shining and my ds is apparently in a great mood today.

Rolf · 25/02/2008 13:02

ernest - I'm in the same boat. I have varicose veins too - the worst one right by my ankle - so I'll be wearing full-length tents . Going into pregnancy 2 stone overweight wasn't really very clever of me. I have a big moon face too and shite hormone hair (I get hair loss in early pregnancy) so big moon face is surrounded by scraggly mess.

Gosh, I sound very attractive don't I. I have a nice personality and make good coffee

systemsaddict · 25/02/2008 13:05

Oh, don't let talk of hospital bags unnerve you - I'm terrible with the day-to-day maintenance and prep stuff but do like to be prepared for the unlikeliest of emergencies!

Oh dear, hoped-for productive work day not going so well, can you tell? Must stop talking on here and get on with unpleasant task I've been putting off. If I post again before 7.30pm can someone please shout at me?

Upsidedowncake · 25/02/2008 13:17

Josie, sorry about your parking ticket. How old is your DS? Mine was playing up this weekend as well.

Should we start talking about our next thread title? We have less than 50 messages before we are turfed off and have to start another one. We could continue with the creme egg theme, or have something about our second trimesters coming to an end?

ernest · 25/02/2008 13:19

I think summat to do with 3rd trimester. possibly combined with cake, sweets, chocolate etc etc?

thegreenfairy · 25/02/2008 13:24

PJ. Just wanted to say re the name - I also prefer William, and I think that Aragorn would be asking for playground issues, but if you really really love it, it's your call after all.
The test for me so far has always been how it would stand up on a job application form...
Having said this, the name we've decided on is totally out there and I know we'll get some raised eyebrows etc.
My other word of advice is don't tell anyone in RL before he's born - people love to tell you your name is crap.

Josie57 · 25/02/2008 13:26

My ds is 18 months tomorrow. We're just starting to get a few toddler strops when he's not allowed to do something he wants to do but nothing serious yet. It just seemed that nothing kept his attention at all yesterday and he just kept whining ( he can't talk yet). Normally he will play really well by himself or with me for quite long periods before he gets bored and whines but his attention span was about 2 minutes yesterday.

End of second trimester????? I think I've only just accepted that I am actually in the second trimester! Time really is starting to speed up. No bad thing until I think of all the jobs we want to get done around the house and garden before little one arrives!

bitofadramaqueen · 25/02/2008 13:26

I's taken me over 15 minutes to catch up with this mornings posts!

I haven't really thought about much to do with the birth, so I dont even know what hypnobirthing is about! I once asked DH what he would say if I wanted a home birth and he pointed out that we live 5 minutes away from a perfectly good hospital.. . I start NCT ante-natal classes next month so hoping that will prompt me into thinking about birth stuff..

Re the names Aaragon and William.. I think you're right not to post on the baby names forums, some of them are downright scary!

I'm not a massive fan of William I have to say, but that's mostly because I grew up in the central belt of Scotland, which sadly has far too much sectarian nonsense going on. William is very much associated with one side of the fence, and bigots do make assumptions about religion etc if you have that name.

Aaragon - the LOTR books will always be well known, but the by the time your LO grows up the films wont be the same cultural reference point they are at the moment.

I think you're doing well to have a shortlist of two - you could wait and see what suits the baby best when he arrives? William is the kind of name to get shortened, so you'll need to think about whether you like Will, Bill or Billy (but I think someone else mentioned this).

Right, I'm away back to think of nice baby shopping things and block out thoughts of birth and breastfeeding..

ps - BB, did you speak to your union?

needahand · 25/02/2008 13:32

systemaddict thanks for the advice, I will try the machines next time. And I know what you mean about wanting but not needing the bag

upsidedown I am doing hypnobirthing too and have a doula (bit desperate to avoir repeat of DD birth! . I am a very "in control" person, very rational and find it hard to let go. The first hypnobirthing sessions weren't a massive success as I really struggled to relax, but everything they teach you seems to make sense and I am improving. I am starting to feel more positive. There is no harm in trying, at worse it won't work and you won't have lost anything.

I have a doula too just in case the hypnobirthing doesn't work, I am sure when the time comes, I would do with all the help I can get!

katyjo · 25/02/2008 13:34

Yeah definately something about 3rd trimester!
Full of a cold today, so feeling sorry for myself, otherwise no problems.
Feeling really big and signs of pregnancy waddle starting!!

debinaustria · 25/02/2008 13:37

I've just got back in and had to see your news Ernest - I know it's not 100% but I'm soooooo excited for you and obviously a little bit , but I know you were hoping for another boy - how are you feeling deep down? You can share with us, after all you're not sharing this news with anyone else are you?Btw dh says if we get a boy we'll swap with you!!!I don't think he means it

To everyone else - way too many messages to reply to personally, this thread always goes mad on a Monday. It's all sounding a bit real though - even talk of hospital bags - aargh, I am in denial about having to go through the whole labour thing again.

The June ladies are on to the third trimester. Let's keep on eating creme eggs for two.

Bit long?

ktpie · 25/02/2008 13:50

systemaddict where did you get the hypnobirth CD? I like the sound of it but just assumed that the sessions would be far too expensive for us.

I had a much better weekend than last, no rushing to hospital this time! Instead spring cleaned the house which wasn't very exciting but drama free.
I think I'm getting a cold, have a nagging headache and woke up this morning aching all over.

systemsaddict · 25/02/2008 13:54

[whispers] here - though I got it 2nd hand on ebay a bit cheaper iirc - I got the set of 4, though the postnatal one didn't get much use! [SA scampers back to work - have begun difficult task and feel slightly less mired in procrastination]

Upsidedowncake · 25/02/2008 13:55

Needahand, re hypnobirthing, you sound just like me! May I ask what happened with your DD's birth? I was induced at +11 days and DS finally came at +14 days after syntocinon, epidural, forceps, ventouse and episiotomy. I'm wondering whether if I went through all of that again, a doula would feel like a waste of money, or whether a doula would stop some of it. Frankly, the birth is unimportant compared to the rest of our lives, but it would be nice to avoid some of the angst.

dylansmumplusone · 25/02/2008 14:02

i had great success with hypnosis to quit smoking (stopped that minute and never looked back) and also to recover from a trauma (i was mugged from behind and had a hard time standing in queues etc. i became uber paranoid) and both worked brilliantly for me so i am more of a believer than most i suppose. certainly more than dh who said, it's not that i'm skeptical, i just think it's rubbish! but he also said he doesn't have to believe in it, i do which is exactly the point. i compare it to meditation because that's sometimes easier for cynics to understand!

the brain is incredibly powerful and if you tell yourself over and over it's going to hurt like h*ll and you're in intense fear - it's going to be worse than if you think, my body is meant to do this and will cope just fine. in my opinion anyway!!! i just wish i'd heard of it before ds was born.

took ds to a gymnastics session in kentish town this am and he loved it. we followed it up with a bit of soft play and between 2 hrs of that plus walking 20 mins there and back i can hardly move now!! don't feel remotely guilty about sticking the tv on this aft.

sophiewd · 25/02/2008 14:02

Ernest - you will get used to the idea, I have older brothers and they are great on the whole and she won't grow up to be a wimp like you shocked by the sex of the baby bit have got used to the idea, oh yes and half of DD's clothes are boys clothes cos they last longer and more suitable for the activities she does.

sophiewd · 25/02/2008 14:03

and my theory that craving for chocolate = girls are beginning to stack up

dylansmumplusone · 25/02/2008 14:05

how about something like entering the home stretch - keep the creme eggs rolling?

i sure hope it's the home stretch soon. i'm looking absolutely massive today - i think i doubled this weekend. must... stop... eating.... ernest i'm exactly the same as you i have no willpower whatsoever. my arse sticks out as much as my belly!!

dylansmumplusone · 25/02/2008 14:18

sorry to ramble on but just had to add i had an intense craving for greek style yogurt and honey so bought some yeo valley stuff (i love their regular plain yogurt) and just swirled in a bunch of honey and it is probably the nicest thing i have ever eaten. ever!

Upsidedowncake · 25/02/2008 14:29

DMPO - like your thread title, we just need to keep June in so that lost souls can find us!

I love Greek yoghourt - though was horrified to find that it as same amount of calories as cream!

Sophie, I so agree with you about chocolate cravings = girls. With DS, I didn't crave chocolate at all. And this time I have spots!

debinaustria · 25/02/2008 14:36

entering the home stretch - keep the creme eggs rolling - I like that

and I like your chocolate theory Sophie - my next scan is next Wednesday, then we might see if you're right!!

It's my dh's birthday tomorrow and all the worlds websites are against me!!!!!!!! I ordered something for him in January and I have had such problems getting it, still not here but apparently it's been dispatched. Then went out to buy him 1 more presemt today , I thought it would be abour 15 Euros, turned out to be 50 Europs, so too expensive , came home , have found it online for 30 so tried to order it and the website won't accept my order -AARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm feeling so lardy after my full fat lunch of curly fries with pizza. It tasted so good at the time but now I feel so uncomfortable . I feel like I have a lead weight sitting just below my ribs!Yoghurt sounds positively healthy in comparison!

damewashalot · 25/02/2008 14:54
