@CausingKaos i used to bleed/ brownish discharge .. stopped around week 14..at one point I had 3hours of heavy bleeding thought I was miscarrying but a scan a couple of days later showed all was well... They basically told me I had hematomas and not to worry about it... But believe me I was worried and stressed about it. Especially when it stopped for a couple of days then started again..

Thank you. A little bleed again today but trying not to worry-they did say they only need to know if it gets worse or doesn’t stop in 3-4 days.

I held off telling anyone at all (except OH) until 15 weeks, and have only very recently told others….I just keep fixating on having to tell everyone bad news which I know isn’t helpful at all!

I do hope it stops soon 🤞such a worry!

Longbin · 28/11/2022 19:13

I've now got really bad pains across my bump. I called the midwives helpline and they just said to stay at home until either I have a bleed or my waters break, because I'm only 22 weeks! Praying it was braxton Hicks because it's easing a bit now

I can’t offer any advice but just sending best wishes and hoping all is well 🤞

Tubbytele · 28/11/2022 23:09

Really lovely to hear of everyone's scans. Hope everyone is doing well.

@xalexandra @DBS94 I've had severe dizziness for about 2 months now with sometimes seeing the room spinning. GP recently thought it might be my thyroid as I've always been borderline but test results have shown it's my iron. I've always been anaemic or at least borderline so wasn't surprised but have a look at pregnancy vertigo and keep an eye on your blood pressure. It's amazing all the incredible changes our bodies go through during and after pregnancy. Hope you're both ok.

tattlytote · 29/11/2022 05:19

Hi everyone. I took a step back while awaiting 20 week scan but all done now and well. Can't believe that's the last routine scan for the babies! Feels weird that (unless extra scans needed ofc) that we won't see them again until April.

Current woe- toothache. Anyone any experience in pregnancy? Will call dentist tomorrow 😭

tattlytote · 29/11/2022 05:25

Actually I should add that my placenta is low, 1cm from os, so I actually will be rescanned at 34 weeks.
I am planning on an election section so not worried about delivery considerations but will need to be extra wary of bleeding etc.

ancienthouse · 29/11/2022 08:53

I have my 20 week scan today eek. DS had his flu vaccine yesterday and had a fever in the night and was a bit off this morning - we've sent him to nursery as it's just a vaccine reaction but I'm hoping he doesn't get worse and sent home or I'll have to go to the scan alone!

Jexi · 29/11/2022 09:24

Good luck @ancienthouse hope your scan goes well.

@Cuppasoupmonster hope you're also doing OK

I can't believe we're at the halfway point 😬

Lid88 · 29/11/2022 09:28

@simplythequest quest I also have a low lying placenta. Apparently the clearance needs to be 2cm for vaginal birth and mine is 1.7cm, the songrapher was confident it will have moved up by my next scan at 32 weeks but I can't say I wasn't gutted as I'm really gunning for another water birth (although I appreciate many things can stop this from happening!)

I am consultant led because I had a PPH with my DD, but I've sought advice and I think I'm still going to go for a midwife unit birth because its in the same corridor as the labour ward in my hospital and I feel safe that they can do all the same precautions. Obviously if I end up needing a CS because of the placenta then it is what it is.
Thinking of all of you with your 20 week scans today,

@Cuppasoupmonster oupmonster Hope you're OK?

AliceinSlumberland · 29/11/2022 09:51

@ancienthouse good luck today and hope your little one is okay.

@tattlytote congrats on your scan, how exciting. It’s all starting to feel real isn’t it!

Last day working mental overtime today to try and boost that mat pay, things should be easier from here work wise hopefully!

MamaMenna · 29/11/2022 11:29

@AliceinSlumberland good on you for advocating for what's right for you, I hope it's not going to become any kind of battle. I hope I won't have any difficulty getting my insurance to pay for it as I don't know whether it will be justified as medically necessary.
@Cuppasoupmonster @Longbin hope you're both doing OK x

ancienthouse · 29/11/2022 12:39

Everything was great at my scan so that's good! I'm very relieved because I was so worried about it for no real reason.
I could see him punching me at the same time as I felt it so that was nice. And he wasn't a fan of the scanner digging in, he kept trying to push it back!

Longbin · 29/11/2022 12:54

My pains have completely gone, I think I must have had trapped nerves or something from covid as I had bad pains in my spine too, or was experiencing braxton hicks. So painful though. It was worse than when I was in labour, I couldn't get up! It hasn't really given me much faith in the hospital im going to considering they told me to have a warm bath, I couldn't walk to the bath let alone get in it.

Hope everyone else is doing okay, exciting that so many people have had scans recently! It won't be long until we are all over the half way mark!

@Cuppasoupmonster did they say when you'll get your results back?

RackJussells · 29/11/2022 13:03

@AliceinSlumberland In regards to a C-section I am possibly looking down that route myself, but need to speak to the midwife team first. I think/hope they’ll allow it?

I had a traumatic first birth which left me very unwell for a long time after, my fiancé works for the NHS and when he spoke to a colleague and described what I went through, she advised I have a C-Section next time round.

But I had a letter last week from the Dr saying they they’ve looked through my notes and only advise active management of third stage labour. Which I assume means they think I’ll be okay to go natural again?

I’m so confused!xxx

AliceinSlumberland · 29/11/2022 13:22

@RackJussells (love your name btw haha) you’re entitled to a c section if you want one, even if there’s no medical reason. Understandably they have to go through the risks with us and make sure we’re making an informed choice, so I think there can be some push back there but if you want a c section after discussing the options they have to give you one.

AliceinSlumberland · 29/11/2022 13:24

There’s good info here about it - www.nhs.uk/conditions/caesarean-section/

PiggyBean · 29/11/2022 13:58

So lovely to see all scans and good luck for everyone else having scans this week. I'm feeling nervous about mine!

@Longbin I had really bad back pain recently, trapped nerves as well I think, then suddenly it just felt so much better. Was painful walking and sitting down, even getting into bed would make me cry out in pain. Makes me wonder if baby was pressing down on the nerves before and had moved.

Longbin · 29/11/2022 14:14

@PiggyBean it's mad how quick it comes and then goes again isn't it! Fingers crossed we don't get it again

PiggyBean · 29/11/2022 14:15

@Longbin yeah it was crazy, just woke up one morning and I felt so much better 😂 yes, hope we don't get it again! 🤞

allfurcoatnoknickers · 29/11/2022 15:10

Eurgh, after letting up for a few weeks, my nausea and food aversions are back with a vengeance, just in time for Thanksgiving (I'm in the US), my birthday and Christmas. Great, this is just fabulous.

Also, where's this second trimester surge of energy I was promised? My energy levels are slug like, I could happily go to bed at 8pm.

I have to attend yet another fancy event for work tonight and I don't feel like going AT ALL.

Hannah223344 · 29/11/2022 16:22

What's the deal with baby movements at this stage? I'm 19+4, and have definitely felt something, but should I be concerned if it's not every day at this point?

PuddingBear · 29/11/2022 16:32

Definitely not! If you feel them at all at this stage (not uncommon for a first pregnancy) they’re intermittent until about 24 weeks.

I didn’t feel anything with my first until about 24 weeks and with this one I’ve felt movements on and off since about 13 weeks.

xalexandra · 29/11/2022 16:33

@Hannah223344 I'm 19+5 so pretty much exactly the same as you, and I'm almost sure I felt baby kick a few times last night and even my partner felt it too! It's not all the time and I'm never 100% sure but pretty sure at night now and then I feel a few things!

simplythequest · 29/11/2022 17:33

@lj2022 @Longbin @Lid88 good to know of your experiences too. I'm not that bothered by the whole thing, but the increased chance of bleeding is good to know about, just in case it doesn't move. It seems to be covering the os, so getting it to 2cm might not happen. Oh well, that's life!

@allfurcoatnoknickers I feel you! I'm still struggling to get back to normal with my HG and have my fingers crossed I can eat normally by Christmas- watching everyone else tuck into the full dinner when I'm stuck on chicken flavoured noodles and ice lollies does not appeal! Also hoping cake is an option by my birthday in January! You have my greatest sympathies! Also, I've not seen any increase in energy yet - think its a myth 😆

ancienthouse · 29/11/2022 17:39

@allfurcoatnoknickers @simplythequest sorry you're both still feeling sick. I keep getting random bouts of it sometimes and it reminds me how awful it was a few weeks ago so you have my sympathy!
I have no energy either. Last time I loved the second trimester I felt amazing but this time not so much! I had a nap this afternoon because I felt so rubbish. Goes to show every pregnancy is different I guess.

Chocolat · 29/11/2022 17:50

Nice to see everyone’s scans have been going well :)

Has anyone suffered from nipple spasm? 😂 i think it’s the cold but my nipples feel the worst cold burning sensation I’ve ever felt!

Got another scan tomorrow as they couldn’t complete the 20 week scan as baby wouldn’t move so just need to check the spine but I started folic acid 3 months before I conceived so hopefully nothing to be concerned about
