I have some gorgeous city shorts I am desperate to wear, I loved them before I got pg but never got a chance to wear them, now everyone is wearing them with tights it makes me soooooooooo jealous!

I think I'm changing my mind on the loola, I want a Hauck infinity now.

Denny185 · 04/02/2008 21:09

LVS, the infinity looks good, I had a Hauk (cant remember the type) which had quick release wheels, great idea until the buggers release themselves and go flying off down the street, which they did on a reg basis it was also really heavy (but didnt have swivel wheels)

Peachy were u planning a home birth? will they still ok it with the GD?

paranoid, glad everything seems to have settled down, as the other ladies have said maybe its your bodies way of requesting a bit of a rest.

scorpio1 · 04/02/2008 22:13

i like this but it was too big for me personally. really striking though IMO.

Tomorrow i am kiddie free from 9 - 3.30, wahoo! plan on resting

VS, LOVE city shorts. we will fit back in our things!

I'm getting so excited about having an actual baby now.

chipmonkey · 05/02/2008 00:01

paranoidmummy, just wanted to say, that in the unlikely event that you went into labour early, my ds3 was born at 32 weeks and although it was hard at the beginning he is absolutely fine now. I had placenta praevia so there was always the danger of having to be delivered early but my obs said to me "try to hold on till 32 weeks because at that stage they all do fine" He didn't specify how I was supposed to hold on, mind you, cross my legs?
Anyway ds3 is a fabulous boy, although a tad bossy but I suspect he would have been like that anyway!

Peachy · 05/02/2008 00:39

Still planning a home birth- IF its GD then probably a no but I ahve a contingency plan, on no account can I go into labour at home and need to go to hospital with DH working over an hour away and the boys, so MW has said she will fight my corner for induction if HB not a possibility.

rainbowdays · 05/02/2008 09:26

Hi just popping in with a big fat virtual chocolate birthday cake for everyone to share, apparently my life begins today!!!! I always said I would never have a baby after I was 40, whoops, slipped up on that one!!!! Also throwing in some pancakes, never had a birthday on pancake day, it feels really odd!

Will try to pop back later for a chat.

SuzeM · 05/02/2008 10:05

Rainbowdays - lá breithlá shona duit!

I still don't know what bloody pushchair to get, I went to Mothercare on Sunday and they couldn't take the alarm off so I couldn't try the Phil and Ted, they didn't know how to collapse it or recline the seat, they were absolutely awful! It looks a bit big to get on and off a bus anyway, I was thinking this might be more sensible for city use but does it look a bit plasticy? www.lilimay.com/buggies/silver_cross/dazzle.php

How do I link properly?

Fed up with maternity clothes here too, I bought half of Isabella Oliver and Seraphine but now I am sick of it, I can't wait to sell it on eBay. I also bought a pair of really expensive black Paige cords online and had them sent to my friend in New York, I thought I could get loads of wear out of them but they are still way too big.

Maybe we should do a swap shop!

Denny185 · 05/02/2008 10:21

Suze, no idea how to link typing on this is as technical as i get!! to mothercare, surely they should have an idea re their stock, maybe if its that complicated its not worth the money?

Peachy hope you do manage to get your home birth, keeping fingers crossed for you.

Ive just started washing baby clothes and buying bits ready to pack into hosp bag just in case this one comes early, though I doubt it, prev 2 kind of sat comfy in me and didnt want to shift so dont think this one will be any different.

Denny185 · 05/02/2008 10:22

Oh happy birthday rainbowdays hope you have a nice one. Thanks for the cake

LadyVictorianSqualor · 05/02/2008 10:23

To link just put at the beginning and at the end, it tells you how to do that stuff on the right next to the box where you type.
Happy bday rainbowdays.

EllieG · 05/02/2008 10:27

Ahem - all together now:

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear rainbow, happy birthday to yooooooooo

[Helps self to chocolate cake]

How's your kiddie-free day going scorpio? Though am not sure am talking to you anymore after your revelation that you can fit into size 6 hotpants. I don't think I've been a size 6 since I was actually 6 [Entices scorpio with choc cake to virtually fatten her up]

I know we've covered this already but am too lazy to look back and check the list - what do I need for a hospital bag again?

paranoidmummy · 05/02/2008 10:30

happy bday rainbowdays!

update from this morn...

I have been to midwife who was actually utterly brilliant. she said exactly the same happened to her when she was preg 14 years ago! they accused her of pissing herself too and she said she was positive it wasn't. as i said yest u can tell the diff can't you?! she took it really seriously as her ds came early (he was fine but still...) she called aau who said to call delivery suite! they were very busy but she was adamant that i get seen so i am going in at 3pm. she checked baby this morn too and all seems fine. protein has disappeared from my urine too which implies it was my waters on sunday. good news is that me and baby are both still measuring 2 weeks ahead so chances are i am more like 33 weeks which makes me feel much much better if this lo does make an early appearance!

will keep you updated after this pm but thank you all so much!

EllieG · 05/02/2008 10:33

Oh that's good news paranoidmummy - glad the midwife was nice and took things seriously. Let us know how you get on later x

SuzeM · 05/02/2008 10:38

Good luck this afternoon, Paranoidmummy, glad the midwife was helpful.

I'm a numpty, I never noticed the info on inserting lnks!

SuzeM · 05/02/2008 10:40

OK, I'll try to insert a link ... anyone have an opinion on the Silver Cross Dazzle?

LadyVictorianSqualor · 05/02/2008 10:50

It looks quite big folded (according to the dimensions), so depends how youre gonna store it.

I've just added a whole new website to my problem, www.groovystyle.co.uk
Tis good prices and buggies I'd never seen!

Denny185 · 05/02/2008 10:59

yeah suze it worked - v space aged, id never noticed all that info either so your not a numpty by yourself

Hope all goes well this pm paranoid, glad you had nice helpful MW.

Ellie so far have -

  • nightie for first day as hosp policy not allowed out of bed in first 24 hours following section so easier than PJs
  • Pjs for any subsequent nights
  • Mahusive knickers (lots of)
  • sanitary towels (lots of)
  • wash stuff and towel
  • nursing bras
  • breast pads
  • nipple cream

still need to add comfy clothes and squash, its a working project. Havnt started the baby bag yet.

EllieG · 05/02/2008 11:05

Thanks denny, gives me a good starting point.

Am feeling slightly overwhelmed at all the things I still have left to DO. I didn't know it would be this complicated. And, bless him, DP is extremely disorganised and laid-back (a less charitable person than me might call it a wee bit lazy) and doesn't do things until he absolutely has to, so it's up to me really. I really wanted our room painted, but he shows no signs of doing it, so have said don't mind if not done but would like help shifting furniture around. Plus I need to clean out downstairs cupboard (we call it the cupboard of doom cos everything goes missing in the mess) to make room for buggy etc and will be up to me and buying all the baby stuff has been done by me and I STILL feel I've got loads to do! And trouble is have much less energy to do it. He'll just turn up on the day and think it's been really easy to organise. Hurrumph.

Gosh, where did that moan come from? Sorry people. Think I need another cuppa.

Scampmum · 05/02/2008 11:12

Morning all. My Mum (GP) expressly banned work today so I am at home! Called in and explained, said happy to take as leave if they don't approve but haven't heard anything back. Do feel much better for not dragging myself there, BH have still happened this am but much less. Pelvis was agony overnight so the lie-in really helped.

Hot cross buns for breakfast!

Glad to hear it PM. Well done for persisting with the midwife! Was this a scheduled appointment or did the hospital tell you at the weekend to follow up this week? Sounds from your other thread like they were a bit dismissive, tbh.

EllieG · 05/02/2008 11:14

Ooo! Food - now that's a good idea. [goes off to rootle through cupboards and find something yummy]

OP posts:
Denny185 · 05/02/2008 11:26

Ellie we have the 'draw of plenty' rather than 'cupboard of doom' that way you have to be more selective of the junk you keep. i wish you luck on the clear out, sounds like it may take a while.

Scamp glad the BH have calmed down, sorry your in so much discomfort though, mums r always right, sensible for taking her advice and having the day off to get some rest in.

LadyVictorianSqualor · 05/02/2008 11:27

I just sent DD to the shop to get me a cornish pasty (one good thing about her beign home thoguh she is driving me bananas.) I was expecting it to be a ginsters or something similar as it's only a tiny village shop, but to my delight, they have started doing hot food! So I got a fresh baked pasty all nice and warm. Yum.

Denny185 · 05/02/2008 11:32

Bonus, these DC do have their uses

scorpio1 · 05/02/2008 11:36

VS, you should live here - they are bloody everywhere! you can get them delivered so if you want some let me know....

Ellie - PMSL at you not being sure about talking to me coz of my hotpants!! dont worry i still felt fat when i wore them anyway. wonder if i will ever fit in them again? Kiddie free day so far has been busy, refuse to do anything else now.

I haven't got anything ready like pads or bags or anything. think i might next time we get paid. Should i get a small bag ready incase i have to transfer? with say a few nappies, babygro x2,vest x2,pads, pants and a nightie? that will last me a night or until someone brings me more stuff.oh and a shower gel tube. i shouldnt have to transfer if Millie's birth goes like the last ones anyway.

What is everyone else up to today? You all OK?

think thrush is clearing up already, was mild anyway. DH won't have sex until its gone, i know thats right anyway. bloody thrush.
