Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hmm, this is all making me want my mid-morning hot cross bun (never mind that I got up at 10.15!). Just saw a fish and chip shop on TV and now can't get idea of fish and chips out of my head.

Denny, my mum's definitely always right when telling me to stay away from work - not so much when I told her about DD biting me and she said 'I hope you smacked her!'.

DD has left Makka Pakka here and I know she finds it hard to have her daytime sleep at nursery without him - DH drove her to nursery and to the station this morning so would have to walk/shuffle and pick up car (which will have to do anyway to pick her up) to drop him off, and then it would be really hard to go and leave him without going and saying hello, and I would end up picking her up... what shall I do?

Scampmum · 05/02/2008 11:39

oh, and happy birthday RainbowDays!

sagitta · 05/02/2008 11:47

Hello everyone - what a lot to catch up on!

It really does seem like we are all entering the final stage - I have really puffy legs , constant BH - well it feels like it anyway, and still have three bloody months to go. Last time, I was still travelling through south america with a rucksack at this point. This time, I feel like I could give birth any minute.
Had a shocking day with DD yesterday, who tantrummed her way through a swimming lesson, in the showers, in the lobby etc etc. All the other mums were really nice and understanding, but I had to go and sob in a cubicle for 20 minutes. What on earth will it be like with two monsters???

Also caught sight of my thighs in the mirror at the swimming pool. Cue another 20 minutes sobbing....

sagitta · 05/02/2008 11:51

Happy birthday rainbowday!

Scampmum - will it matter if DD doesn't sleep? Will she cope with the rest of the day? I wouldn't go just to take in maccapacca if I were you. (We're big fans of ITNG, too)

Scampmum · 05/02/2008 12:05

oh Sagitta, I know what you mean about thighs. I went into a loo with swimming costume on and it was funny seeing my thighs in the mirror and looking up and seeing the abject horror/shattering of illusions on my face! I obviously have all our mirrors set up skilfully at home!

Think DD will be OK. She will probably sleep, just means harder job for nursery nurses. V. keen to make sure she keeps her daytime nap going for when I am on leave - she has been showing worrying signs of wanting to cut it out!

SO know what you mean about this time compared to last time. I was still working at full pelt last time and now I am on my 5th sick day so far this year! I don't think we should underestimate how much harder it is being pregnant with another child, though... and of course our bodies aren't as youthful and resilient as they were...

LadyVictorianSqualor · 05/02/2008 12:06

Of course we have bigger thighs, how else would they cope with the extra weight they have to carry?
Don't worry, it'll soon go.

Scampmum · 05/02/2008 12:10

For me it's not the size so much as the... texture. Urgh.

Cool, it's nearly lunchtime!

(no, those two points are not connected in any way, no siree, not at all)

scorpio1 · 05/02/2008 12:11

i couldnt believe how fast the morning has gone.

im not even hungry yet

Scampmum · 05/02/2008 12:11

p.s. Scorpio I absolutely 100% guarantee that there is NO WAY a 5' 9" girl can look fat in size 6 hotpants!

(just typed 'hotpoints' there - do you think I'm feeling bad about not doing the dishwasher??)

scorpio1 · 05/02/2008 12:12

i dont have a dishwasher

LadyVictorianSqualor · 05/02/2008 12:14

Sod size 6!, I'll be happy to get back down to a 10/12, I keep looking at the pics on my profile of me being thin

scorpio1 · 05/02/2008 12:16

you will be the same again VS. i was looking at my other clothes last night thinking 'god did i ever fit in them?!?!?!'

seem to have been pg FOREVER

Denny185 · 05/02/2008 12:24

Hadnt got into pre-preg clothes from having DS then got pregnant again - Hmmmm not sure size 10's are ever going to be hanging in my wardrobe again!! Size 6 - are they any bigger than dolls clothes

Just finished the ironing while DS asleep, am i the only OCD type on here or do odd socks bug anyone else?

LadyVictorianSqualor · 05/02/2008 12:26

I only wear odd socks.
It was something I started doing years ago, and it stuck. I have many many more odd pairs than I do matching pairs
They do have to be the same type of sock though, only the patterns can be different.

VictorianSqualor · 05/02/2008 12:50

Oh, and meant to say, I'm pissed off, I've posted about it but tried to cover my identity! Lol!

see here

ToastAddict · 05/02/2008 13:09

Hi all,
Haven't posted in ages, but have tried to keep up with everyone's news

I'm very impressed at all the stuff everyone has got already, and even more so at those packing their bags! I start mat leave on 14th March, and plan on starting buying and packing then - will still have 5 weeks til LO is due, hope that is enough!

There is an NCT nearly new sale here at the beginning of March, hoping to snap up a bargain then

Oh, and a guy at work is selling a Jane buggy, it is a couple of years old, but he only wants £80 for it - brand new right now it would cost about £500 for all the bits! It has a lie flat carrycot/carseat, which is the main thing I want rigt now - I have spoken to so many people who spent loads on the perfect buggy, and then at 6 months or so ended up buying a cheap, small stroller......

ToastAddict · 05/02/2008 13:11

Oh, and Happy Birthday Rainbowdays!!

northeastmummy · 05/02/2008 14:04

Off work today too - not really pg related but haven't been sleeping well for about a week because of blocked sinuses so just hit exhaustion. I slept most of the morning and feel a bit better for it - but my sinuses are still sore .

Scampmum - it was very good of you to offer to take a/l ... but surely you're entitled to a day off sick? I hope your employer doesn't take you up on the offer.

I too have no recollection of ever being a size 6. I've always convinced myself it wouldn't suit me to be too skinny ! But saying that, have the same thigh problem - eeeeew. I just don't look. Oh, and I have to spend a week in a swimsuit in a weeks time - deep joy!

Happy Birthday Rainbowdays and thanks for the cake - just what I needed! Have you got any lovely birthday plans? Other than pancakes of course!

VS - that Jane sounds like an amazing bargain. I wouldn't think twice about it if I were you! Just one thing - the lie flat carseat doesn't fit in all cars. We were going to get it for DD1 but it didn't fit so better try it first. Also, two of my friends had the lie down carseat and didn't like it. It's really awkward to clip in apparently and quite heavy so not really any good for moving baby when they're asleep. However, the buggy's are brilliant!

PortAndLemon · 05/02/2008 14:05

Hang on, aren't you giving yourself advice on that thread?

VictorianSqualor · 05/02/2008 14:11

Ha, I started to answer it, then realised couldnt without changign ym name back, so had to pretend. Don;t ask!

ToastAddict · 05/02/2008 14:17

NEM - sorry to hear about your sinuses - my dh suffers with sinusitis - apparently the chilli I cooked the other day helped no end! (shame I couldn't eat it as it set my heartburn off ) I had a really mild tummy bug last week, slept most of Thursday and all Thurs night, felt so much better on Friday - I'm sleeping really badly at the moment, because of the bump, and really not coping very well with it, kind of worried about how I'll cope once LO is here

Re: the Jane carseat - thanks for the tips. tbh, I don't plan on using it as a carseat, thinking of getting a Britax one for the car. It's just dh and I really talked about the pram/pushchair thing at the weekend, and realised that all we really want at the moment is a pram, will buy a small, light, cheap pushchair when she's a few months old and wanting to sit up. But you can't buy "just a pram" anymore, they are all these multi-combination things. At a huge price. So this seems like the perfect solution

northeastmummy · 05/02/2008 14:22

Toast - the world of prams is complicated isn't it? It definitely sounds like this Jane is for you.

I might try steaming tonight and see if that helps clear things up before bed at least.

VS - I looked at your thread and got really confused so just kind of put it to the back of my mind!! My head already hurts ...

ToastAddict · 05/02/2008 14:22

Having seen the talk of baby monitors and sensor mats, what do people think of this

Over the top, paranoid first-time mum purchase? Or quite sensible, possibly the Best Thing Ever?

You would still need a sound monitor, so the costs will add up.....

northeastmummy · 05/02/2008 14:24

One of my friends has just emailed me to see if I think I'd be able to go to her hen weekend in June. It'll be about 4 hours from home and will just be a girly weekend in a big house. That'll be ok won't it? I can't remember what it's like having a wee baby!!

VictorianSqualor · 05/02/2008 14:27

NEM, YES, GO, BOOK IT NOW!!
