We have an NCT class on valentines day! So no chance to doing anything!! No idea who planned that!

Congrats VS on DP making it toward being in the Police, that's great

EllieG · 28/01/2008 15:26

I was going to have pork chops cooked in a traybake with parsnips etc a la Jamie but have remembered am going out. Boo.

Don't think am doing anything for valentine's - it ain't that big a deal for me. Probably cards and nice meal in as too tired to go out and we're saving furiously.

scorpio1 · 28/01/2008 15:27

going anywhere nice? my sheperds pie is inthe oven now, slowly cooking. have to go PO and get Reilly from tennis in 20 mins.

Mollyfloss · 28/01/2008 15:58

Nice to have a thread called third trimester. It's really starting to feel like that. I'm too full to eat loads now too but I'm not complaining, I could do with eating less!

Sorry to hear some of your kids have dyspraxia.. Sounds difficult but I suppose once diagnosed to it being treated... I didn't even know what it was until today...

PAL: Good luck with your appt. sound slike you might already ahve the diabetes under control...

Toastaddict:I know what you mean about squishing. when I bend sown in my jeans I'm afraid the bit where the elastic leet the jeans bit squishes the baby.

Elli G: I wouldn't worry. I'm sure he stiull fancies you from what you're saying. Isn't it typical even when you have a great DH who behaves exactly how he should when you're preggers that you still have doubts. My DH constantly tells me how gorgeous I am preggers etc. but it is kind of hard to believe at times when you're this big! Regarding the s`x thing. I think it is normal that some men are terrified of doing harm to the baby.

Fleecy, I think the mattress protector is a good idea. My friends waters broke in bed a couple last week and it was soaked!

On another note, people keep asking me if I'm nervous about the birth, but when I think about the birth all I can think about is meeting my DD and I am so excited. Just think in only a matter of weeks someone is going to be posting their birth story on this thread!

Peachy · 28/01/2008 16:00

We're having Kiev's for tea- yummy, haven't ahd those in ages but gave up and pulled DS1 off his gluten free diet, no point when he sneaks down at 3am to load himself up on all the stuff he's banned from!

Never ahd problems with sex and boobs and BF etc, Dh (MI) got a mouthful a few times and thought it was hilarious LOL!

As for teh sex, if we can get time alone then yes, but that's very rare at teh moment- as longa s when e do find time its OK, then we're both fine with that. It's probably no coincidence this baby was conceived in our tent on my birthday LOL!

managed to find my lost MW notes- and MW appointment is for the same day (march 5th- I do have one before that) as the school / LEA hearing..... should I run a book for how high my BP is likely to be that day?

Am going to lok round the SN unit next week though so at least will be informed.

Peachy · 28/01/2008 16:03

Dh ahs to work Valentines- boo! we do tend to celebrate it as we got enaged on Valentines day, we'll have a posh meal at the weekend though instead. Its our wedding anniversary in amrch so we'll make an effort for that- even though will be technically full term. But its his birthday as well soooo......

(Dh said he wanted to marry before he was 30, so we married on his 29th birthday. it was all a bit whirlwind- met December, moved in january, enagaged Feb but PG march so wedding waited for a year)

northeastmummy · 28/01/2008 16:18

Sorry to be a pain, I have another name question. What does everyone think of Jess? Does it just make you think of cats (as in Postman Pat?)?

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 28/01/2008 16:24

Jess is really sweet in an old fashioned kind of way...

Mollyfloss · 28/01/2008 16:24

Northeast: Is it for a boy or girl? I think it works for both...

VictorianSqualor · 28/01/2008 16:25

I like Jess, I had a cat for years called Jess but I think of a girl I went to school with first or a friends little girl called Jessie when I hear the name, so I bet most peopel would think of a person before a cartoon cat.

Peachy · 28/01/2008 16:35

I have an Uncle Jess (fat slicked back hair alkie but don't let that put you off ) and it was my Grandad's middle name (or was it the toehr way round? They never seem to use the name they were actually given in that family....)

I think its fine, for a boy or girl, although in male use isn't hal;f as common nowadays

Just updating my details

VictorianSqualor · 28/01/2008 16:42

Jess for a boy reminds me of either Rick Springsteens jessies girl or cher and just like jessie james

TLSM · 28/01/2008 17:24

I am having sauasage too tonight great minds have a lovely evening all

scorpio1 · 28/01/2008 18:07

i like Jess, i am having Jessamy in dd's name.

is ds1 appointment tomorrow at the doctors, i hope he listens to me, there is so much evidence, he just has to.

VictorianSqualor · 28/01/2008 18:32

FUCK, have just noticed Dd has a patch of skin similar to what happened to DS's head over christmas, I can;t have the same happen to her, a seven year old girl would be distraught if her hair fell out like her brothers

scorpio1 · 28/01/2008 19:46

what happended to ds's hair at xmas? has it grown back?

Hoping its not what you think....ikwym about a 7yr old girl and their hair.

VictorianSqualor · 28/01/2008 21:02

He had what the said was impetigo, then it got really infected and he was given stronger anti-b's, got even worse, his hair fell out ina round patch on his scalp and eventually got some cream that ahs seemed to start fixing it, just noticed DD has it now, posted on ehre about it, someone suggested ringworm!

I have two patches of wht I thoguht was psoriasis on ym shoulders as well, looked at the pictures of it, it's almost exactly the same, so I've just been to the pharmacy at sainsburys and they said yes it's ringworm, have given me canesten for DD and have to go docs if mine doesnt go down in a few days. It's horrid, itjust starts off likecradle cap.

Peachy · 28/01/2008 21:07

Once the canesten has done its stuff, try lavender oil- amazing for stopping scarring, and helps it heal much more quickly.

Just found out ds1's fiancee has dumped him again - for the same ald as ever as well! Don't they start early thse days....

EllieG · 29/01/2008 09:04

Poor DS - has he recovered?

Had a chat with DP last night and told him how I was feeling e.g. worried he didn't fancy me anymore and that was symptom of Something More Serious (his first wife and him stopped sleeping together when they weren't getting on and it made me panic that same thing happening to us even though I know we're getting on really well, ).

Anyway, he was lovely and said nice things like 'how could I not fancy you, you're beautiful!' which made me very and said that he just sometimes worried about hurting me and not to worry at all and that we were still best friends and he would always love me lots
So feeling much better today. Sorry for soppiness.

OP posts:
eva07 · 29/01/2008 09:30

hi vs, just found this: Pyrithione zinc, found in Head and Shoulders shampoo, is a very effective treatment for ringworm on the scalp and can be used as a body wash to assist in overall treatment.
and from what I heard, tee-tree oil helps too.

elli, aren't we supposed to be soppy?

northeastmummy · 29/01/2008 10:21

Oh Ellie - you almost had me sobbing again. I'm sure people at work must be noticing!!!

Thanks for all your thoughts on Jess. We're having a girl and my DH is taking responsibility for the second name so I have to come up with first names. Hannah is his favourite of what I've suggested but it just doesn't excite me very much. Then I bumped into an old friend at the weekend and his daughter's called Jess - and I just thought it was really lovely.

VS - I had impetigo once (I was about 14 and it was really horrible). It looked ring shaped when it came up then went all scabby and raw. It was all over my face - yuk. Anyway, it was really infectious so could explain you all getting it. Is ringworm infectious too?

They gave me some nasty yellow cream for it which made it look even worse, but it healed up fairly quickly after that.

I made my sausages into a spicy casserole last night and had it with mini baked potatoes and green veg - yum scrum.

scorpio1 · 29/01/2008 10:34

dss had ringworm last time we him - his stupid mother didn't even notice he had anything - he had 7 patches on him !!! i took him to the docs. it is contagious but not overly so, but easily spread in families by towels bedding etc. i had impetigo when i was pg with Reilly, anti-b's cleared it up lovely.

VS - cream will take a week or so to work noticeably, but it is working! tis true you get it on scalp too, can llok like dandruff even.

DS1 docs appt is today.

Ellie thats lovely of your DP, see we told you!

I am feeling a bit better day by day, wrote out my bills to be paid and i actually have more money that what i need so thats stopped me worrying so much. DH is still worried im going offf him - he wishes it was that easy!! might get a take-away tonight and have a snuggle

my new tumble drier is fabby, so much easier

EllieG · 29/01/2008 10:46

Oh btw I like the name Jess for boy or girl, but then DSD is called Jess so might be biased.

OP posts:
SuzeM · 29/01/2008 11:02

Ellie and Scorpio, glad you are feeling better.

Jess is a lovely name.

Peachy, very funny about your DS!

I have just been looking into babysitters, want to get an idea of rates in our area so we can have one night out a week, perhaps I am (or will be!) a bad mother to be considering babysitters already!
