Anyone else due in August 2005 yet?

Well, I can't believe I'm starting this thread, but very happy to be. I'm due August 1st (according to one of those online due date calculators) and ds and dd were both over a week late, so I reckon it will be an August babe. Here's hoping. Still very early days for me, and I have an early scan to get done as I had an ectopic pregnancy in March this year.

Looking forward to someone joining me.

Many thanks Pamina - at least the first hurdle is over with.

MariNativityPlay · 21/12/2004 12:02

Azure, that is such lovely news for us even if you are on a knife-edge for the next few weeks. Know all too well how that feels, believe me. Congratulations on conceiving again, and hoping with all my heart that things go right for you this time

TeaTime · 21/12/2004 12:03

For dramaqueen - after (and before) the birth of ds I found the National Childbirth Trust to be fantastic. We enrolled for antenatal classes with them and they were hundreds of times better than the standard NHS ones and ALL the dads were there (11 couples all expecting a first baby!) which made dh feel less of the freak he was expecting to be (NHS classes tended to be attended individually or with a mum, only remember one partner coming).
I was then invited to fortnightly Bumps and Babes meetings in the support mums houses and met some more local expectant mums and one who shock, horror already had her baby. I remember gauping as she breastfed!! A few days after ds was born they rang up and I sobbed down the phone to them, getting great comfort from the fact that this was a woman who knew where I was emotionally. The fortnightly coffee mornings continued for the next 6 months and were an absolute life saver - useful advice (which cafes welcomed breastfeeding, which toys worked best with a newborn, washable or disposable nappies etc.) and a chance to meet other people going through exactly the same things. I can't recommend them enough - the only snag is whether there is a branch in your area. Apart from the actual classes, everything else was free - you don't have to be a member to benefit. Their role in life is birth support for anyone.

Hello everyone and congratulations to the new joiners!!!

I'm actually feeling okay today, not violently sick and a little more energy - i'm wondering whats wrong or should i just enjoy it?!?!?!?!

I agree with Teatime about the NCT - they were fab, especially my ante-natal classess.

How is everyone else ???

Eulalia · 21/12/2004 15:16

So many congratulations nice to see more people here.

Falling behind, been busy with Christmas parties, nothing exciting just a family do and children's parties. My nausea doesn't seem to be getting any worse so I guess this is as bad as it'll get thankfully. Ate a lot at my sisters and this means that I'll be able to keep it a secret a bit longer. still not decided whether to tell my parents on Sat on not.

Thanks for the info Teatime - the human body is amazing!

Spacecadetiscomingtotown · 21/12/2004 21:14

Congrats azure, you are due a day after me!

oopsanta · 21/12/2004 22:12

I feel sooo sick... Is this a sign of twins!! Please say no, my friend reckons that becuase I have had early and severe signs that it could well be twins- more hormone causing both problems.
Please reassure me...

blossom2 · 21/12/2004 22:14

god, that sounds exactly like me, Oopsanta!! some reasure me too

although was feeling fine today, back to feeling nausea this evening ... yuck.

oopsanta · 21/12/2004 22:19

hey, just posted on your thread... have i started you worrying about twins now?? sorry.
I don't really believe it is...I don't think anyway.

oopsanta · 21/12/2004 22:20

I got worried a couple of days ago as I puked red stuff. I was crying for a second as i thought it was blood....
then I remembered the glass of cranberry juice I had earlier

oopsanta · 21/12/2004 22:24

good luck with scan tomorrow bonkerz

Spacecadetiscomingtotown · 22/12/2004 08:50

I had severe nausea with all mine that started from the moment I had the pos test, it was sooo bad with the last 2 that I ended up in hospital, everyone always used to joke that it could be twins(not funny!) but there was only ever one!The nausea doesnt go away for me either, I throw up about 10 times a day till im about 16 weeks then feel nauseas the rest of the preg, lovely!

Eulalia · 22/12/2004 12:23

Had bad nausea with dd so not necessarily a sign of twins.

Non identical twins (the more common type) run in families, are more likely in subsequent pregnancies, 2nd or 3rd, getting very high by the 5th preg and also are age related. If you are over 40 your chances are much higher. If youare a twin yourself you are supposed to be more likely to have them which is why I am a bit worried but I don't feel very big so I think I am OK.

Got a blasted cold now and am just being useless getting no housework done and piles of presents unwrapped...

moschops · 22/12/2004 13:09

can i join too? got a bfp on 17th of dec......haven't been to doctors yet (too busy to get a suitable appointment).

have no idea about due date but my birthday is 23rd and dp's 30th of august so i guess one of us could be getting a very demanding birthday present next August!!!

Spacecadetiscomingtotown · 22/12/2004 13:10

oh god! does this mean I have more chance of having twins? this is my 5th!

Spacecadetiscomingtotown · 22/12/2004 13:14

congrats moschops, my due date is 24th aug, same as my birthday!

leahbump · 22/12/2004 13:30

Hi everyone!

apparently the reasons I know nothing about the local procedures is because i saw a locum dr and didn't get given a maternity pack! So off back round to the drs later to pick one up from reception. Anyway got my midwife apt booked for first week in Jan, when i will be almost 9 weeks!

Welcome to Azure and Moschops! We are a growing group!!

feeling more pg now and less worried. feeling sick alot of the day (esp am and late pm) but so far still not being sick. Feeling very very tired and can't wait to hit the 2cnd tri so that i can stop dashing to the loo all the time!!

The expanding tummy is mainly bloating- wind OMG I forgot how bad that was last time!

anyway signing off for xmas now so have a good one everyone...and I see you in the new year. 2005- the year we get to meet our babies!!

MissChief · 22/12/2004 17:53

Hi again - had first scan yesterday (not twins as I'd wondered but all seems ok so far!) also had me dated further ahead than i thought due date 30 July, though think probably because I'm v tall therefore babe also measuring long! v.v. relieved anyway, cross fingers for the next few weeks!

chillbur · 22/12/2004 18:31

Gosh - lots of new people when I check in for a quick catch up - how very exciting. Huge congrats, moschops, azure, space cadet, teatime, dramaqueen and others if I have missed you. Feeling rough as anything here and just want to curl up in bed for the next week (fat chance). Much worse m/s than in previous pregnancies, but I think it's made worse by being tired (and 2 years older!). Still, I have got all my presents wrappped, and a few things cooked, plus I did a big supermarket run this morning, exhausting and nausea-inducing, which means we are ready for Crimbo, at least.

Glad to hear your scan was good misscheif (and single!)

If I don't get to the computer again before the weekend - have a good one everyone and hope the m/s lifts for Christmas lunch at least.

virginbonkerz · 22/12/2004 19:07

hiya all, im very happy now! have had a scan today and saw a tiny bean and heartbeat! midwife said she could see no reason for my bleed last week and has sent me away and said to come back at 12 weeks! am far more relaxed now. Have vowed to start enjoying my pregnancy. Have noticed some blood upon wiping but i think ive just made myself sore and have scratched myself so am not bothered! if that had been last week id have been terrified! SYMPTOMS, after a week of cronic morning sickness its now disappeared but im sure it will start again soon. I have melons for boobs and have started to leak abit of milk!!! The toilet is a regular stopping point for me too at the moment! The joys of pregnancy, i wouldnt change it!

TeaTime · 22/12/2004 23:29

Welcome Moschops - more births and birthdays in August (you're the fifth in this group to be expecting in the same month as your birthday)! Also sighs of relief for you Bonkers and Misschief for the scans - it helps to have that to cling to as well as general 'faith' that things will be OK. I feel strangely unreal about everything lately - just trying not to get too hopeful I suppose.. can't wait to be into a 'safer' period of the pregnancy. No m/s or other symptoms at all (going to the loo all the time was much later for me last time), just the inner smile that it's happened at last! Otherwise carrying on as normal, and having too many late night on MN!

dramaqueen72 · 22/12/2004 23:43

thanks for the info on NCT. teatime, i've just got to pluck up the courage to go to something by them now then... i guess antenatal classes are not the norm for a fourth time mother.... i'm supposed to know what i'm doing by now!!
many congrats to everyone new here, so many babies due august!!!! anyone from around southampton?
deeply jealous of all you early scan people, i dont think i'll get one this time...tho i AM hiring a doppler in january! so that will keep me hapy
wishing you all merry christmas,

AzureSelfaMerryLittleChristmas · 23/12/2004 08:11

MissChief and Bonkerz - great news about your scans. Moschops, congratulations and welcome. Still early days here. My boobs are a bit tingly but that's mainly it. Tired, of course - but I'm blaming DS for that. Have a great (if sober) Christmas all of your signing off for now.

KMSanta · 23/12/2004 23:20

Welcome and Congrats to all the new august bumps.
Hope you all have a great Christmas.

Spacecadetiscomingtotown · 24/12/2004 09:40
