My twins are due in May and it would be nice to have other multiple-mums-to-be to chat to!

Twins are wonderful although mine are 9 now so I'm not the right person for you to talk to as not quite at the same stage. My greatest fear was they would come too early but they came at 40 weeks to the day. That's quite rare but it meant they were good sizes, no special care, like two normal single babies.

MrsWeasley · 09/01/2008 17:30

I'm not even pregnant but thought I would "bump" for you. LOL Bump for you!! Ho Ho Ho ! Sorry

Hope you are ok. I am very

Egg · 09/01/2008 17:32

Hey nh101, SURELY you remember you have been on the multiples threads with us all? Current one is about pine needles in the title? I would link but have DS on my lap, and am now 36.5 WEEKS PREGNANT WITH TWINS so can't function properly. Come back over to us, that's where you'll get the best chat and love and laughter!

There are FIVE (yes five) of us on the due in Feb thread expecting or have just had twins. One is being induced today hopefully, one has popped already and three still to go, so you are in great company .

Egg · 09/01/2008 17:33

Ok have dispatched DS for a min, here is the current thread.

Remember us now????????????????????

Still not as good as you!!

Egg · 09/01/2008 17:39

Ah but Tripley you are better than me at most other things .

TripleyTigger · 09/01/2008 17:42

Aww I love a THREE free compliment!!!

nh101andhertwinbeans · 11/01/2008 17:41

Of course I remember you guys! Thanks for your replies, everyone is so sweet. The thing is I don't log on so often (once or twice a week) and the twins thread moves so fast I can't keep up! Also I have no idea who most MNers on it are or where there multiples are up to so it is hard to fathom the tales.

If there are a few multiple mums around who are due or just about to pop it would be lovely to chat. But of course I will pop into the multiples thread too!

Xenia, I am also scared that they will come early but most non-identicals I have heard of have come at 37 weeks or more. Fingers crossed.

I had my 20-week scan today and everything is fine. One of the babies is a boy but they couldn't tell what the other one was. I think it is a girl (just instinct) but don't really care. Just glad they are healthy. Next scan at 28 weeks (Mar 6)

We like Theo, Noah and Gabe (Gabriel) for names.

MarsLady · 11/01/2008 18:08

Oh and just to let you know... there are mini eggs in the house.

nh101andhertwinbeans · 16/01/2008 15:55

Just bumping this... anybody out there?

nh101, you MUST come back to the main multiples thread......honestly, we are lovely and you get used to us very quickly!

nh101andhertwinbeans · 19/02/2008 17:20

I have been reading it I just haven't had time to post. I promise I will now!

HIya

I'm 19 wks with non id twins, would love to try and chat and keep up, got our 20 wk scan 7 March, really hope we can find out the sex. Already have a 2 1/2 yr old DD, bit worried about coping with a toddler and twins eek.

I Know what you mean about the multiples thread, like you i don't come on every day so find i get lost on a lot of threads.

hope your still around

Neenzandhertwinbeans · 24/02/2008 13:01

Hi outinthesticks - thank you for joining me!! I am 26 wks PG now and getting really big. Someone asked me today 'you haven't got long to go now' and I said 'about 11 weeks hopefully', they said 'You haven't!!'

Er, yes, I think i know when I am due to give birth!! I do look about eight months PG now though.

I found out I am having one boy at our 20-week scan but they didn't know the sex of the other one. We have another scan at 28 weeks (Mar 6) so hopefully will find out then.

Non-id twins are so much less scary than identicals aren't they. I am hoping to have a normal birth even though the second baby is currently breech. Where in the country are you? I'm in Merseyside.

outinthesticksmummy · 24/02/2008 15:52

Hiya

God some people make such stupid comments. Lady ay playschool the other day said "oh i'd only want twins if they were identical, don't see the point otherwise!!!" !!! stupid woman - never mind all the extra risks!?!?

Your scan is just the day before our 20wk one, really nervous and excited, just want to know they are both well. Do you have any other kids?? My DH has been working all weekend, all i want to do is slob on the sofa, but have had to run after my 2 1/2yr old all weekend - urgh!! He's off tomorrow, but surprise - she's in nursery and i'm at bloody work, something wrong there me thinks!

We live just outside Spalding, Lincs (daffodil country!)

Hope you've had a more relaxing Sunday than me

Neenzandhertwinbeans · 24/02/2008 17:25

No, I don't have any other children - I feel for you having a toddler too! But they say God only gives twins to people who can cope so I'm sure we'll both be fine! Imagine if you were a single mum?

Where do you work? I'm a journalist (sub-editor), work in Preston for Star magazine (celeb mag). I've only got six weeks left! I have arranged for tomorrow off cos I have worked every day for three weeks and thought I was due a rest! Well I haven't taken hardly any sick in the four years I have worked there so I think they owe me. I am feeling a bit tired now actually cos we have been out shopping for carpets this afternoon. Got two rooms for £220 so quite pleased.

I am hopefully going to negotiate doing a four-day week from now until mat leave - two of the weeks are four days anyway cos of Easter. We have to take care we don't get too tired because of the risk of prem birth, eh.

I was really focussed on getting to 24 weeks, cos I had a miscarriage (at 13 weeks) last March and 24 weeks was like 'my babies could survive now' but now I am thinking please don't come now cos babies that early really struggle. Even if they come at 36 weeks they will most likely need special care. I am hoping to go to 37 weeks (fingers crossed). It is much more likely than with identicals.

I have a friend who has identicals and I had no idea at the time what she was going through, but now I do! She had a c-section at 36 weeks cos of twin-to-twin transfusion, something we don't have to worry about thankfully. But I think until you are going through it is hard to imagine what it is like. That woman at your nursery - what a daft thing to say, like you have a choice anyway!

I have been reading loads about birth recently cos I really want to have as natural a birth as poss with little intervention. My obs has been good so far saying if the second twin stays breech I can still go for natural birth if I want. Midwife said I'd have to have a section. Silly woman! How was your birth with your LO?

outinthesticksmummy · 24/02/2008 18:19

Remember your allowed your full years worth of holiday entitlement before you go on maternity, so def. take it easy, thats what i did with my DD, i took 1 or 2 days holiday every week.

I'm sorry to hear about your miscarriage, unfortunaltly i can understand your worries all too well, these babies are our 6th IVF attempt, DD was our 4th attempt - spookily the two embryos that they replaced out of a possible 11 were from the same batch of embryos as my DD, so in theory they are the same age!?!??!

DD's birth was only 4 hours, stupid hospital sent me home (45 min drive) only for us to go racing back again and only just making it, no pains meds nothing! so yeah fairly natural!! Like you i'd love to avoid a c section, its gonna be difficult enough after without having the pain and recovery from major surgery, my consultant said if twin 1 was head down we were good to go, but did warn 60 % of twin pregnancies end in section. Also i'd love to try and b/feed for a little while if poss, and if i've got a huge scar that won't be easy.

I used to be a vet nurse, but left due to stress/chemicals/xrays etc whilst going through ivf. Now work in a pet shop 3 days a week, spend my day talking about fleas, worms and poo!!! your job sounds much more glam - will be able to tap you for the celeb goss!! all these famous twin preg mummies - Jennifer lopez, Nicole Kidman....

Well best dash, final hurdle of the day getting DD bathed and into bed yeah!! then i'm headed for the sofa.

Speak soon and enjoy your day of leisure tomorrow, any plans??

Neenzandhertwinbeans · 26/02/2008 15:06

I am in awe of you going through four rounds of IVF for your DD - I was on Clomid when I conceived, hence the twins...

What do you say when people ask 'do twins run in the family?' or does everyone know you had IVF? Depending on who is asking I do say I was on fertility drugs, but sometimes I say 'yes, my great-grandma had twins' which she did - but she had about 10 kids so I suppose twins were bound to come along sooner or later!

After my MC I was in turmoil trying to get PG again, but my periods were just all over the place. When I started the Clomid I hadn't had a period for 12 weeks. I'd got PG straight after coming off the pill (which I'm told is common in women with ovulation problems) so I thought it was dead easy. But obviously it didn't happen again quite so easily. I was PG again within six months (just a few days before the due date of the baby I lost) but even that was horrendous to go through, so I can only imagine what it is like to go through IVF over and over again. I am so pleased you have got a happy ending!

It is weird isn't it that your twins were 'conceived' at the same time as your DD - quite special I think. It might be a bonding thing for them all as they grow up.

I went to see my sister yesterday, her DD is nearly one, so that was nice. Saw my mum too - they live about 50 miles away so I only see them a couple of times a month. More after the babies are born though!

Do you refer to your babies as 'twins'? I have shied away from that cos I don't want them to be known as 'the twins' so I have always called them my 'babies', but I am getting more comfortable now with calling them twins. I think if they are boy/girl it will be much easier for them to be independent. We'll find out next Thursday. Are you finding out the sex of yours?

MarsLady · 27/02/2008 16:22

outinthesticks... don't worry if you don't have time to read the d'y ever threads... most of us don't. They all talk so much. Not as restrained as me!

Anyhoo... come by and say hi. There are expectant multi mums there as well as us old seasoned ones! When I say old clearly I'm talking about the others! I am eternally young

twinkle1 · 28/02/2008 12:57

MarsLady · 28/02/2008 13:03

Twinkle... when I was pregnant with the DTs I had 1 boy and 2 girls. I felt that I had had enough surprises and wanted to know. Also... DS1 had threatened to leave home if it was 2 more girls. His words..."2 sisters I can love, 3 is pushing it, 4 and I'm leaving home"

modsaluk · 28/02/2008 20:16

Hello, thought i would add myself to this, i am 36 pregnant with non identical twins one boy and one girl. Very tired and seem to be very stressed and short tempered but i am ready for them to come now. I also have a DS who is two and a half and feel very guilty towards him not able to play with him as much and feel i neglect him. Also when he is playing up dont seem to have as much patient with him.

Glad to know there is a thread for us carrying twins or more, must have missed this thread only tend to go on the March due births, but will keep checking in on this one.

My family are all convinced i am going to have the twins tomorrow on the leap day, i must admit i am ready fro them but dont think it will happen, i can see me going to my due date which is 28th March 2008.
