My twins are due in May and it would be nice to have other multiple-mums-to-be to chat to!

Pazza that is so exciting about Monday! I know what you mean about being , I am feeling a bit that way too knowing that labour could be just around the corner. I am 35 weeks today and at last MW appt on Tuesday they were both still head down so I was well chuffed.

MW also read my birth plan and was really happy with it, didn't see any problems with it even though it is very 'natural childbirth' and I am sure they'd much rather I let them medically manage me. But the MW thought it was fine (apart from a natural third stage - she recommended having the injection because of the increased risk of bleeding caused by two placentas) so I feeling very confident that I can assert myself when I get in there. I am not having any of this 'you are putting your babies at risk' nonsense. If MW and consultant think it is OK to not have continous monitoring, not have an epidural and not force the second twin out within a set time frame etc, then that is what I am doing!

Pazza, met a twin mum the other day who had a section and she said she struggled afterwards to care for the babies because MWs were busy etc. But as she was leaving hospital they told her they would have let her DH stay if she'd have asked! So make sure you ask, even if he would not normally be allowed, if you are in a private room they might make an exception.

PazzaPlusTwo · 25/04/2008 12:55

Neenz great news about your birth plan and supportive staff. Will definitely ask about DH staying - it might depend on who is in charge at chucking out time...

Well you might not hear from me for a little while - take care everyone and good luck!

Pazza xx

Neenzandhertwinbeans · 25/04/2008 16:42

Good luck - everything will be fine!!

millie1 · 26/04/2008 21:03

Hi All

Pazza ... good luck for Monday. Hope it all goes well and can't wait to hear. How many weeks will you be?

Glad to hear everyone else is feeling as uncomfortable as I am !! Night-times are awful, aren't they? I'm lucky if I get a two hour stretch - it's more like 1.5hrs ... it's not even needing to go to the loo but my hips get so sore from all the extra weight and I have to physically climb out of bed and get in again just to change position . Oh our poor bodies!

I was sure I was away last night ... crampy and diaorrhoea a few times. Went up and started packing bags at 11pm - had sister on standby and DH in a tizz but thank heavens nothing happened. Much as I'd like to be able to breathe again and bend down, I don't want these two out until 22nd May ... need to get the iron levels up, DH sorted and psyche myself up for another section.

Anyway, good luck Pazza!

Neenzandhertwinbeans · 27/04/2008 22:12

Thinking of you for tomorrow Pazza...

Millie - I am fully sympathising with the sleep problems! But for me it is my bump which is really sore when I wake up, if my pillow doesn't stay where it's supposed to. If it does then I make it to 2 and a half hours sleep at a time! How many weeks are you now? I am 35+3 so hope to hang on till May 8. Scan Thursday to check growth.

millie1 · 28/04/2008 10:06

Hi Neenz

I'm just wondering how Pazza's getting along.

Can't wait til the babies arrive and we can all get some proper sleep - even if for brief periods of time!! I'm 34+5 today. Are you scheduled for delivery on 8th? How many weeks will you be then - my brain is too mushy to work it out at the moment!!

Hope Thursday's scan goes well.

Neenzandhertwinbeans · 28/04/2008 10:46

I am really excited too - I am 35+4 so just ahead of you. Really hoping they arrive on May 8 or thereabouts - which will be 37 weeks - but I don't want to be induced so I could be waiting a bit longer. It seems to me that most non-id twins I have heard of on MN have come at 38/39 weeks or even more!

I am feeling good cos I'm not working now so i just sleep all the time - I don't know how I'd be getting on if I had other children to look after. But the bumop is huge and is really getting tough to live with. Bending down is almost impossible now and sleeping is not easy but as long as I can keep napping I am coping.

millie1 · 28/04/2008 21:38

Other children are great for bending down & picking things up, pulling clothes out of the washing machine and putting them in the tumble drier but mine aren't so good when it comes to tidying their own toys !

I really need to hang on til 38w ... Consultant won't be there for a few days before the section so I hope to goodness I don't go into labour between 37 and 38w and also, hopefully a few more weeks will give DH a bit more time to feel a little better & stronger ... every little bit will help.

Have mw apt tomorrow so will get iron levels re-checked - they have been going up but I've had a few really bad lightheaded/dizzy spells today so am wondering what's going on. And the nausea's back - probably due to bump size! Listen to me - what a whinger .

Let us know how Thursday goes.

twinkle1 · 29/04/2008 10:22

Morning all,
Wonder how pazza is??????
I just wondered if any of you have struggled to eat???? im 27 weeks now and had managed to put on 12 lbs but im been sick again and have started to loose it again!!!!
Twinkle

Neenzandhertwinbeans · 29/04/2008 17:40

Yes, hope Pazza is doing well with her babies - how exciting! Twinkle I am really feeling for you as you still have so long to go! I am actually eating OK, and have put on 3st 5lb! Happy with that though.

I saw MW today and had raised level on blood test for liver cholestasis so have to go in to hospital tomorrow for check-up. I have no other symptoms (itchy skin, fatigue, feeling sick) and MW said levels were probably only raised cos it is twins. Normal level is up to 14 and mine is 16. She said if I did have it they'd want to induce me next week (37 wks) which actually sounds very tempting! Don't want to be induced really but I am sleeping so badly - had a terrible night last night. Bump is so uncomfortable.

millie1 · 29/04/2008 21:59

Hope everything goes okay at the hospital tomorrow Neenz. Keep us posted.

Twinkle ... I'm back to struggling with eating but am 35w tomorrow. Feel constantly nauseous. Have put on about 2.5 stone altogether and feel like every last ounze is on my stomach. Groan.

Saw midwife today also ... babies look fine. Both still head down. Had a lot of ketones in wee so have to eat and drink more - hah! Blood pressure was pretty low which explains the lightheadedness but she took blood samples so will have Hb results at end of week.

Good luck tomorrow Neenz.

twinkle1 · 30/04/2008 09:19

Good luck neenz
Mille, I sound a bit like you my Bp is always low and will just drop for no reason I found myself sat on the floor in mothercare the other day!!!! at the min it seems to hover around 90/50.The thing i found that helps me get rid of my ketones is full sugar ice lollys and they are pretty easy to keep down
Twinkle

Neenzandhertwinbeans · 30/04/2008 13:12

LOL at having to sit on the floor in Mothercare Twinkle!

Millie that is great news, both head down.

Thanks for your messages. Appt is at 2.45pm.

millie1 · 01/05/2008 22:37

Just wondering how you got on today Neenz. Hope all went well.

Neenzandhertwinbeans · 02/05/2008 16:09

Well it is very exciting...

Consultant was concerned about my bile acid levels (liver cholestasis) and said he wanted to get the babies out sooner rather than later. He gave me a sweep and said I was already 2cm dilated.

He said I would probably go into labour this weekend . If not I am booked in to have my waters broken on Tuesday. I was a bit at first that they might come so quick but after about an hour I was chilled and now I am just looking forward to it.

They were slightly smaller than I'd hoped, he estimated 4.5lb and 5.5lb, but he didn't think they'd be in any danger if they were born now. Hope not, but 4.5lb seems too small to me. They were both head down still so all set for natural birth!!!

I am going back to the hospital tomorrow to have bile acids and BP etc checked again (unless I go into labour and then I'll be there to have the babies!)

Neenzandhertwinbeans · 02/05/2008 16:10

No sign at the mo that labour is about to start. A few mild period type pains and some backache but really nothing regular at all.

Maybe tomorrow!

millie1 · 02/05/2008 19:32

Wow! That is exciting! Hope it all goes well - imagine, you'll have two babes in arms in a few days ... if not sooner! Please keep us posted if you can - I'll be watching out for your birth announcement.

Take care & good luck!

Neenzandhertwinbeans · 04/05/2008 16:02

Nothing to report - yet. I am still getting period type pain and backache and I think they are getting more painful and more regular but still not proper labour.

I went to the hospital yesterday for more blood tests and the bile acid levels are back to normal which is great. It means that I might not have to have my waters broken - if the bloods are still normal on Tuesday I will ask to be left alone! It is tempting to get them out but would rather they came on their own.

I am feeling more pain now anyway so hopefully it will be tonight or tomorrow!!

Neenzandhertwinbeans · 05/05/2008 16:16

I'm still here unfortunately, no babies yet I wish they would get a move on!

PazzaPlusTwo · 05/05/2008 16:51

Hello!

You might have seen my birth announcement on the May thread just now ... yes it has taken me a week to turn the laptop on!

Birth Announcement !

Our little girls Carmen and Anais arrived safely by C-section last Monday April 28th

4lb 13oz and 5lb 4oz (elective cs at 36+5 due to breech presentation)

Operation was much less scary than expected, came home Thursday, have more or less recovered and settled in now, BFing them both but not at the same time as am missing the extra arm.

They are SO unbelievably cute!!!

twinkle1 · 05/05/2008 18:15
