I love Isla and so does DH. It's desperately and terminally unfortunate with DH's last name, though, so it's a non-starter for us even though otherwise it would be a shoo-in for #1 spot. So I think Scampmum should definitely use it.

Have realised GD will be putting my VBAC at risk -- or, more technically, the fact that I refuse to be induced for a VBAC and that they like to induce early for GD may be putting it at risk. I'll see what they say on Tuesday.

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 23/01/2008 22:21

Ilsa is very pretty... Olive not so much...

chipmonkey · 23/01/2008 22:32

hatrick, what month is your ds due?

scorpio1 · 24/01/2008 09:08

Good morning!

As most of you know (you stalkers ) i posted a thread on baby names and got responses for Millie Scout.

I have read them and agree with alot of postings there. Me and DH had a chat last night and i think we are going to go with Millie Grace. DH just doesn't get the book reference (and won't read it) and has changed his mind, that, no, he doesn't want it anymore. I can however chose another middle name if i want, which i do.

I do not want to call her a 'full' version of Millie, like Emily or Amelia though, just my Millie .

Thankyou for all your help, i know you all love Millie Scout but he has said no now. I'm not that set on it anyway, so its not like my heart has been broken .

How are you all anyway?

scorpio1 · 24/01/2008 09:09

Scampmum - Isla is gorgeous.

northeastmummy · 24/01/2008 09:25

Scorpio!!!!! I just about fell off my seat ... my Millie is a Millie Grace! You have great taste . And I have to say, everyone was very kind about her name when she was born so I think it's generally well liked. I don't think Millie's too common either - not up here anyway. Maybe does depend where you live.

VS - my DH and I were talking about Brooke recently (makes me think of babbling brook). We really love it, but I'm a bit nervous about using it in case it's too hard? I suppose it can be softened a bit with a middle name - or am I just being ridiculous?

I can't remember who said Olive, but I like it too. It's one of my Mum's friends names and has real warm connotations for me.

We also like Skye but again I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to use it. Maybe as a middle name. Someone I know called there little girl Isla Skye ... which is lovely, and was fine because they were heading back to the US to live, but if they'd been staying in Scotland ... ahem??

We're probably most stuck on Hannah at the moment - but I wonder if it's a bit plain ... some people are never happy.

scorpio1 · 24/01/2008 09:29

i know a Lily Skye, thats nice.

Names are so hard aren't they?? i get sooo stressed choosing something that will suit her throughout life, that people cannot tease her for, etc. SO hard!

I know a grown-up Brooke, is really nice.

VS, is your baby not Alex anymore then? You change your mind more than me

Off to get some cereal now

EllieG · 24/01/2008 09:50

Oh no today is already horrid and tiring I hate work. This week has been a nightmare, loads of horrid nasty child abuse which makes me

scorpio1 · 24/01/2008 09:58

oh, ellie.

its ok, just remember you are helping and that its a good job you know its happening/happened, otherwise what would go on?

Go to a happy place in your head.

And make a cup of tea!

Tigerschick · 24/01/2008 10:05

Hello! Just wondered where those wedding photos are Mrs!!

scorpio1 · 24/01/2008 10:05

hi tigers have just emailed you!

northeastmummy · 24/01/2008 10:08

Ellie that's awful. As I've said before, you're amazing. And as Scorpio has said, thank goodness for you.

Scorpio - I'd like to see your wedding photos . Just read your thread on baby names - crumbs it's scary out there.

My DH is fixed on Hannah Brooke but I'm still quite keen on Brooke as a first name. Maybe Brooke Elise, or Brooke Ellen.

scorpio1 · 24/01/2008 10:10

oh i 'm used to MN now! most of the comments were helpful though

Whats wrong with Brooke Hannah?

Tigerschick · 24/01/2008 10:13

Scorpio - will reply.

FWIW regarding names I've just seen in the very recent messages:
I like Brooke but couldn't have it as it is the surname of some very close friends. I think it works as a first of a middle name.
Skye is really pretty - especially like Lily Skye (I'd steer clear of Ilsa Skye tho!)
Really like Millie Grace.

Best of luck for the rest of your pregnancies ladies.

EllieG · 24/01/2008 10:32

Ta - have made tea and stopped moaning!

Off to appointments now - catch up later folks

EllieG · 24/01/2008 10:33

Oh and I want to see wedding photos too. [stamps foot petulantly]

VictorianSqualor · 24/01/2008 10:34

I think Brooke is quite soft myself, kind of similar to Summer?

Scorpio, a boy is Alex, I'm thinking a girl is Leah or Brooke, maybe with Rose as a middle name.

scorpio1 · 24/01/2008 10:42

Brooke is lovely VS, really really nice. good for everything in life iyswim?

I have made an appt with a BF person to tell me all about it, she is going to ring to confirm when soon. Are you proud?

SuzeM · 24/01/2008 10:49

Hi all, it is so hard to pick a name, we are thinking of Emilia, Julia or Alannah, I love them all. I am being very careful not to tell anyone in real life as I know someone will just annoy me with their comments!

I had another scan yesterday to check the baby's kidneys, one has improved and one is more dilated, so I'm having another scan in 4 weeks, hospital said not to worry, they are just monitoring it. We saw a close-up of her face and she has really chubby cheeks. They estimated that she is just under 3lbs so a good size. I put a photo of my bump in my profile, as I love nosing at other people's photos (hint, hint, Scorpio!).

Ellieg, how horrible. Just think of your maternity leave, not too long now.

VictorianSqualor · 24/01/2008 10:50

Yay Scorpio, I am really proud of you, I'll be just as proud if you dont do it, but it's great that you're thinking about it.

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 24/01/2008 11:07

VS - funny you mentioned the name Summer - that is the name we are probably going for if we have a girl. It is a name I have loved for a really long time (since I was about 12!) and I can't seem to stop thinking about it! It's funny - I have no idea what I am having, but I do think of baby more as a girl than a boy! Really need to start thinking of boys as well just in case I have one!

scorpio1 · 24/01/2008 11:10

some pics up!!!

PortAndLemon · 24/01/2008 11:13

It's just dawned on me that the GD is likely to screw up my VBAC plans -- looking through NICE guidelines, standard seems to be to induce at 38 weeks. But I won't let them induce me, because of the increased risk of scar rupture. So...

I'm going to suggest that if I need to go onto insulin or my 36-week scan suggests a very large baby then they schedule an elective c-section for 38 weeks, but if the GD is being controlled with diet and exercise and the baby is within normal range then schedule an elective c-section for 40 weeks but go for VBAC if I go into labour before that (I went into labour with DS at 39+4 and he was born at 39+5, so there's got to be a reasonable chance of managing it before 40 weeks with this one). I suspect that's the best I can hope for.
