Ooooooooooooooooo, I've got hot cross buns in the freezer! [runs waddles off to get them out]

V1KK1M · 23/01/2008 13:27

Hi All, Thanks for your messages before - you'll be pleased to hear that I have finally stopped crying. I think it was a hormone thing as I really don't mind DH going on the Stag do. Midwife has noted that I may have a touch of Antenatal Depression (doesn't give me much hope for after does it)!?!?!

Getting personal - Just wondering how you are all doing on the weight front?!? I got on the scales this morning and found that I have put on just over 3 stone I was wondering from those that had babies before how long it takes to shift after (and does breastfeeding really help?)

sagitta · 23/01/2008 13:31

My friend who was breastfeeding went from a size 12 pre-PG to size 8 when BF, and has stayed there. I think it helped me a bit - but overall I went up from size 12 pre-PG to size 14 post-PG. And there I have stayed, more or less, till now when I think I am probably actually officially classed as a heiffer.

Soph73 · 23/01/2008 13:35

I refuse to weigh myself at home, the midwife does it at my monthly appointments. All told I think I've gained 6kgs since falling pregnant (nearly 1 stone). With DS1 though I think I gained 3 stone in the last trimester alone so am not looking forward to the next few weeks

Sheds75 · 23/01/2008 13:37

I'm not 100% sure on the weight front, my MW doesn't seem at all interested in weighing me, but I jumped of some scales at the weekend and had put 10Kg not sure if that is good or bad for 30wks

Soph73 · 23/01/2008 13:41

I lost weight after DS1's birth really quickly but that was because I couldn´t eat. Food just didn´t interest me. Unfortunately after about 12 months the interest returned and have been a size 16 ever since.

Soph73 · 23/01/2008 13:42

Sheds - that´s really good IMO (although my midwife would probably disagree )

Annieroo · 23/01/2008 13:47

I got weighed the first time i saw the midwife, but haven't been weighed since. I was a size 8 pre-PG and 8½ stone and now a size 10 and 10 stone!

paranoidmummy · 23/01/2008 13:52

v1kk1m, try not to panic! with ds1 i went from 7 1/2 stone to just over 12 stone () hee hee. i breast fed for just under a year and it really really helped me. by the time he was 3 months i was 8 stone without dieting so it can be done. i think it normally happens easier if you don't focus on it too much after? after about 6 months i started to really worry i hadn't lost enough and got a bit silly over it which was my downfall! determined not to let it happen again!

this time around i have already put on 2 1/2 stone and am trying not to let it bother me!

EllieG · 23/01/2008 14:43

I've put on just under 2 stone - doesn't seem to be going on as quickly now cos eating makes me hurt too much. That said, have managed a fair amount today!

knitter - my internet went down last night and can't access ebay from work so will do it tonight. Hopefully wool should be with you in a couple of days. Is that enough time?

KnitterInTheNW · 23/01/2008 16:02

It'll be plenty of time! I it was going to be weeks and weeks I might struggle a bit, but anything is possible! Plus I'll need something to take my mind off my nesting, no point in doing masses cos we'll only be in this house for a few weeks after master knitter arrives.

scorpio1 · 23/01/2008 16:16

i have put on about 11 lbs.

MW felt Millie really throughly today and she is big for a 28/29 week baby so all those people can go away and leave me to my Millie growing thankyou!BP/wee fine, she kicked the heart monitor though

And whoever likes Lacey too, ignore people. Don't even ask/tell your family, i did with my first son Reilly and everyone said oh you cant call him that, i did and everyone loves it now!!

I do think Millie is sticking though....and i kinda want dd to have 2 middle names, one will have to be Scout and maybe Chloe or Jessica? Also love Jessamy.

hope everyone well

Ellie - Molly is nice. will she be molly 'y' or molly 'ie' ? i'm having 'ie' for millie.

Piccalilli2 · 23/01/2008 16:25

V1kk1m I've put on 1.5 stone so far, desperately hoping not to pile on too much more as I put on somewhere between 4 and 5 stone last time and it took me 2 very long years to lose it. I didn't breastfeed though and most people seem to think breastfeeding does help with shifting the weight.

Really having trouble with names now. We've been right through our short list, I don't like any of them enough and we can't agree on anything. I'm feeling quite miserable about the whole thing now.

sagitta · 23/01/2008 16:28

The name thing is a real pita, isn't it? We were so pleased with DD's name, that nothing seems to match up to it.

What does everyone think of Olive? My family said it sounds pasty and a bit sour, as in the colour. But DH and I really liked it.

Peachy · 23/01/2008 16:29

Haven't bothered weighing myself so not a clue . I'll just go back to weightwatchers (I lost a few stone a few eyars back) until its all gone. I tend to GAIN anyway whilst BF as I get far more hungry then than in PG.

Soph73 · 23/01/2008 16:29

Piccalilli2 - you never know when he/she pops out you might look & think "yep, he/she's definately a

VictorianSqualor · 23/01/2008 16:47

I don't personally like Olive, it reminds me of Popeye, isnt it what Isla Fisher called her DD?
Thing is, I have no bloody idea what to call a girl anyway!

We went through the book last night, DP circled 3, I circled a couple, and crossed out one of his, we're left with
Brooke,
Leah,
Rose,
Tiffany.

We both really like Leah but think it might be too similar to Ella(DD)

OP posts:
Peachy · 23/01/2008 16:50

Wasn't Olive the adt in On The Buses?

But you must choose the name YOU like best! Nobody else has to live with it after all. Dad hates the name we have chosen, but we're just ignoring him.

We ahd taya-Rose (based on Thea) for a girl; others would have ben Aisha, Bethany (pre corrie baby!), Katie. have a bit of a thing about Willow but will never get to use it now.

scorpio1 · 23/01/2008 16:53

I like Olive.

VS, what about Liana? I'm not too keen on Leah, reminds of her from big brother, but thats just me! Other names are nice

VictorianSqualor · 23/01/2008 17:01

I like Willow, but we used to live in Willow Drive so I think I'll save it for a pet!

Katherine is another, but DP's great Aunt was called Katherine and it was shortened to Kitty, I dont really like Kitty so would want Katie myself, so thats a bit at the moment.

God I hope I have a boy! That was so easy!

Peachy · 23/01/2008 17:01

Leah, have you read The Red tent? ( a novel absed on the story of Dinah and the wives of Israel) - Leah was presented as a very lovely, strong capable woman and I think that has massively boosted the name in my eyes ever since. LOVE Brooke and rose, not so much Tiffany.

VictorianSqualor · 23/01/2008 17:05

Hadn't thought of that bird from big brother, wasnt a year I watched it, so I can forget about ehr, It reminds me more of the dark haired nurse in No Angels.

OP posts:
elfsmummy · 23/01/2008 17:11

sagitta I adore the name Olive and DH has said an outright no. I'm still secretly hoping that if it turns out to be a girl I might get my way once he's watched me go through labour!!

We're pretty settled on either Thomas, William or Edward for a boy

Girls are more difficult in our house maybe Kate or Laura. Also love Isla but have had vague non-commital noises when I've discussed it with anyone else so far!

Saw midwife yesterday and bump measuring small for dates again (it happened with DD but everything was fine) So she wants to see me again at 31 weeks instead of 34.

Get keys for new house tomorrow - SO EXCITED

Scampmum · 23/01/2008 21:01

I thought we were decided on Isla but DH said tonight that we're not, definitely Walter John (I'm back on it!) for a boy. I love Isla. Also like other names but DH much harder to please on girls' names. Maybe Isla Scout (blatant steal, sorry Scorpio!).

I have put on about 20lb I think. Haven't put on much in the last couple of weeks but before that put on 2lb a week (!!) for about eight weeks. Last time went from 10st 4 to 12st 5 and was back to normal within 9 weeks. I was being relatively careful not to eat too much but definitely not dieting because I was f-ing starving (believe me, pregnancy hunger is nothing in comparison!). Bf'd for 9 months and went down to 9st 11 (after about 4-5 months) and stayed there till I got pg again. Some of that might be loss of muscle, though, because I was really fit before I got pregnant first time. I was noticeably thinner after bfing, though (bit too thin at one point, am 5' 10"). DD not even a massive eater and didn't put on weight that quickly. Now am 11st 3 or something. Definitely looking like putting on more weight this time.

Don't want to sound smug, just was interesting (and reassuring to lots of my pre-parenthood mates...) that after my baby was the only time I'd managed to get to my 'target' weight (9st 7lb) since leaving school! Found out I looked thin and haggard so had to eat more - bummer!

Scampmum · 23/01/2008 21:03

ps HOT CROSS BUNS!! yippee, forgot about them. Was totally obsessed last pregnancy (due date 16th April, this time 25th - LOVE our timing by the way, summer babies!)

Oh yeah, and probably one factor (sadly) in getting to my target weight was drinking a lot less than I did before getting pg.
