Hi everyone

There's still some space in the old thread - Waddling Zombies and Dancing Babies so no need to start posting yet. Just thought I would get it set up before I go home tonight ready for all you insommiacs!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

not for sleeping, for out and about i think, that's what i've bought mine for - in pram/carrier/car seat - just a bit less bulky than layers of blankets. and v cute

mummylittle · 28/01/2008 19:26

Hi all, I havent post on here for ages, but like to read up on how everyones getting on!
Big congrats to everyone who has hatched, love hearing the birth stories!!
For those of us still waiting has anyone tried anything to speed things up a bit?
Ive just eaten a whole pineapple - feel a little sick but thats about it!!
Has anyone else experienced a pins and needles type feeling in their mouth or am i just abnormal?? xx

beansprout · 28/01/2008 19:33

Ooh, the bug in a rug looks fab!

Ruva - how did you get on today at QCs? Have to say the staff that did my section were just amazing, so please don't have any worries on that front.

Mana - you did a brilliant and very loving thing there. I hope your mum can respond in kind.

MW over again today and have had my stitches taken out, so am feeling a bit less like Frankenstein's monster.

Welcome retrodolly!!

Gill - we can't wait to hear from you!! Hope your discharge went better than mine. We had to be, shall we say, a bit proactive about it!!

Leesmum - how are you getting on?

Right... who's going to be next then!?!! We want babies!!!

CountTo10 · 28/01/2008 19:35

Hi all, really disappointed that there are no new arrivals....including my own!!! I honestly feel like I'm never going to have this baby, even though I'm still a week and 2 days away from my actual due date!!!

Had the funeral today for my bro's dad today and what a weird occasion it was and cold. Bloody exhausted now but at least it's over now and I don't have to worry about it anymore. Now I just have to try and work out which is going to come first, pancake day, my birthday or this baby!!!!

I much prefer the brighter colours route to pastels, the nursery is done out in jungle theme with lots of vivid yellows and greens!

I promise by the way to continue popping in and out even after I've had bubs even though that's gonna be like NEVER!!!!!

sarahmikeandharry · 28/01/2008 20:08

Hi mummy litte,

I have been eating pinapple too!!! my mouth is really sore from all the acid in it,

i am taking raspberry leaf tea capsules, brisk walks, SEX and even a BJ sorry tmi!!!! Much to DH's pleasure!!!!!lol

Hot baths, very hot curry, bouncing on birthing ball as much as poss!!!

so yep i have tried all the methods to get LO moving, She is obviously quite happy where she is!!!!!

I have 5 days tommorrow till due date, have had back ache for a couple of days, and an increase in discharge(TMI), so i am hoping my efforts are paying off!!! will have to wait and see!!!

Really feel fed up- as DS was born at 37+2 (3yrs ago) i had this idea she would be early too!!!!

Still as long as she is healthy she will come when the time is right!!!!!!(hopefully really soon)

Hope everyone is ok,

Jaysthird · 28/01/2008 20:53

Hope you all dont mind a relative newbie tampering with the info, but i was finding it a bit hard to read the stats list so i redid it. ....i HOPE i have recorded it all correctly, and not missed anything/anyone off...!!

Slightly diff note, i really dont know how i have 4 weeks to go, my tummy has expanded 10 fold i am sure. Its so taught, i swear i can see the babies imprint on my belly, how can i 'stretch' any more. All my internal bits and bobs feel like they are squashed beyond 'squashedness' and its SOOOO uncomfortable
so much worse than my previous two. Sorry, i seem to be in 'moan mode'

Well done jaysthird, that is so much clearer than the last one- much easier to read!!!!

Your welcome to moan, as much as you wish, we all do our fair share at some point!!!!

pobletsmum · 28/01/2008 21:12

Thanks jaysthird!

Congratulations Gill!

Had my 1st builder-free day of maternity leave today and it was wonderful. When DS went to nursery, I went back to bed & read my book, dozed, read some more, did some washing & sorting, but generally didn't do very much. I feel so much better for it! We have carpets coming tomorrow, so another day of house invasions, but should be OK. The end is in sight, so we might actually be nearly ready for this baby when she makes her appearance!

ayrshirelolo · 28/01/2008 22:13

Hiya all! Thanks Jaysthird, much easier to read! Well i hope everyone is ok today, i had a m/wife appointment and everyting fine, but nothing exciting to report! Dd was born at 39+4 so i'm now stepping into unknown pregnancy territory, and my next appointment isn't till a week on wednesday by which time i'll be 40+6!!! Arrgggg!!! Oh well, i suppose i can't actually be pregnant for ever, although it does feel like it!
Mana, hope you feel better and less stressed about things now, I imagine that wasn't an easy call to make
Mummylittle think i've tried everything (except castor oil!) but not sure that anything is guaranteed!
Anyway, too late to reply to everyone, so

widgetsmummy · 28/01/2008 22:24

Just a quick post before bed. First day of maternity leave for me as well as our 2nd wedding anniversary so got taken out for dinner which was lovely

Baby seems quite happy where he/she is which is a bit of a shame. I guess I should try and enjoy a few days of non-working but can't help but wish for something to get going! Impatiant definatley has to go in the next thread title!

Hope you all get some sleep tonight, must move before restless leg really kicks in!

Sweet baby dreams!

princessllama · 28/01/2008 22:37

widget we got married on the same day! just got back from 2nd anniversary dinner with dh (was -10 outside up north that day)
poblet i am envious. had confrontational meeting with head builder today to which he was almost 1hr late. when i asked when the back doors were coming he phoned to check and then said next tuesday or wednesday . the plan has been to move in on this friday. sod it, i am not waiting any longer to go home and nest, doors or no doors. slightly worried lo is going to injure herself on a circular saw or something but will just have to spend alot of time at playgroup and the playground etc.
not having the pains everyone describing. am getting bh contractions that feel more pushing towards my bottom anyone else?? wondering if it's because everything worn out from last time or is it a positive sign.
lo v. keen on lifting my top in public to say hello to the baby and then pulling it down again firmly saying bye bye. hmmm.
tyaca i will still be here late feb too.
congratulations gill-can't wait to see pics and name.
welcome retrodolly.

princessllama · 28/01/2008 22:44

good cot choices pk and bessie. we have a cotbed for lo which works fab because it lasts so much longer. bessie, my friend has the same one as you for her dd and it looks amazing, so beautiful. bummer she hasn't grown out of it!

bluedomino · 28/01/2008 23:41

Hi everyone, not been here much as eyes still a bit blurry, haven't been to the optician as they are ok in the day so I feel its stupid to go but then in the evening I go all blurred. Seeing midwife tomorrow so I'll ask her. Been having gluey discharge for late few days does this class as a show? Sorry if TMI! Obs told me I have an irritable uterus which is contracting all the time and causing the pain. DP thinks DD must have been crossing off the days in there last time, like a prison cell!

Had some words with DP over the weekend as hes not helping at all around the house and still expecting me to do washing, cooking etc and I'm just feeling too shit. My dad is trying to decorate to help me but I feel SOOOO guilty, and can't relax and end up overdoing it and then I can't walk. Sorry I've just moaned so much, I'm just worried about how I'm going to cope with two kids, an undomesticated man and feeling unwell. DP has made some bottles tonight, first in months so maybe he listened a bit.

Sorry again, I'm going now before I depress you all.
Congratulations to the new mums! x

ExpectingKat · 29/01/2008 06:42

Hello all, hope all ok
Didn't get from the hospital till 6.30! my first appointment was at 3 Well it was good news yayyyyyyyyyyyyy twin a is head down I can hardly believe it lol even felt like asking for her to scan again as was such a shock. So all set for natural I'm so chuffed. I've got to go back today at 11 as my bloody pressure was a bit up and had protein so they done a blood test to check for pre-eclapsia (excuse spellin) want me to go in get results and have a check to see how faverable I am to being started off whilst there going to give me a sweep (not to impressed with that) aslong as bloods ok and not started on my own I shall be back in tursday for induction, if results not good think they will start me sooner.
Can I ask advice they told what to expect from twin delivery (i know things can change) but said about an epidural, when I went at 15wks they said they advise one just incase any probs its easy, also so if I end up needin a c-sec for sum reason I would rather be awake than asleep, I also have bad reactions to being knocked out and feel I would miss out on the first 24 hours of my babies!but unsure as have had 3 without one it appeals to me havin no pain but also worry it would slow me down so not to sure what would be for the best

Egg · 29/01/2008 08:57

Morning all.

Bluedomino before I forget, I was getting lights before my eyes a few times and even went half blind in one eye one evening, but once I went to bed it was ok and all fine in morning. Did not get it often though like you do. Definitely worth mentioning to midwife / GP.

Kat! How very exciting! When I got to the hospital the midwife said the same to me, that they advise giving the epi just incase, but you don't have to say yes. I said I would rather not, although did say half an hour later when I was in more pain that maybe it would be nice, but I was fully dilated so too late and I am very glad. They put a canula in my arm (tube) so that if they needed to they could administer various drugs quickly if need be (they put it in while I was in middle of huge contraction so didn't even feel it!).

The downside of having an epidural, esp with twins, is you are more likely to need intervention, be it ventouse, forceps or c-section as you tend to push less effectively with an epi as can't feel the contractions so much, hence it takes longer etc. The plus side of course is LESS PAIN! I have to be honest once I had pushed Rebecca out I sobbed a bit thinking that I had to get another one out and would have happily let them cut me open to get Jacob out, but as it was I barely felt him come out and it honestly was not like having to do it all again.

I sould like I know what I am talking about, but have never had an epidural or a c-section so am sure others can come on and tell you positive things about epidurals!

Most importantly, best of luck for today and please please make sure someone can let us know when your little ones are born! I very much enjoyed being a baby announcer for Gill so if you want to email me on christina hutchings @hotmail .com (no spaces) I will give you my mob number . Of course you may prefer to wait and spread the good news yourself .

Right, I am neglecting my children... DS1 is watching Cbeebies and the babies are asleep. They managed to go 4.5 hours in the night between feeds once, but back to 3 hours for the next one. Still, at least DD is taking more now and will hopefully start getting fatter!

ExpectingKat · 29/01/2008 09:13

Thanx Egg, like you say tis hard to decide for the best, I know I can do it myself havin already done it 3 times but with twins there's so many more things to concider, If goes quick don't think it will be a problem and I hate the thought of an epi slowing thing or havin more interference cos of it but then I would hate to be knocked out if I needed a c-sec. When i go today I'm going to ask how they plan to start me off and hopefully that will help.
I will deffinalty keep u posted when I come back from hospital today and thanx for the email addy I shall email later just incase, as hubby not to good at things like this forum I mite well take you up on that offer fingers crossed I shall be in and out so won't be a problem lol

Egg · 29/01/2008 09:26

Yes forgot until I re-read your post that you have THREE children already... Was thinking of Merly who is also having twins and they are her first and second children.

Jacob did end up being ventoused but I wonder if he would have needed more help if I had had an epi. Who knows?????????? What were your other labours like? Were they similar to each other? My twin labour was identical to my labour with DS, except for the bit after DD came out, when I still had DS2 inside!

You probably have already, but if you have time ask the girls on the multiple thread as there will doubtless be some of them on there who have had epidurals for their twin births and can advise better!

OH IT'S SO EXCITING thinking more babies are coming soon.

Oh and Gill should be on today to announce the name of her baby boy! YAY!

MERLYPUSS · 29/01/2008 09:29

Hiya ladies. Still here. 9 sleeps to go then T-day . Can't remember who said they had all the clothes they need for the 1st year but mine is the other way round. Have loads of tiny baby and new born, some 0-3mths then nothing. Seeing as T1 is (or was 2 weeks ago) 6lb 15oz I might need to request bigger stuff from visitors. I am in the anti pastel coloured camp. I bought some great stripy baby gro's from NCT which had obviously never been worn - they are orange and lime green. Also bright green so they will look like a frog. Apparently I am being cruel to dress them in anything other than white according to a friend [roll eyes]

Egg · 29/01/2008 09:41

Hi Merly, can't believe you are still hanging on too. You are really growing those DTs well! I had very little teeny stuff and needed more, and have loads of newborn and 0-3, and lots of boys up to age 2 as DS1 has way too many clothes.

Right I must log off and spend some time with DS1 before Dts wake up [guilty emoticon].

pobletsmum · 29/01/2008 09:49

kat - I had an epidural mainly due to exhaustion (after 2+ days of regular contractions, no sleep, very little food/drink) and ended up with a forceps delivery, but I would still consider having one again this time. Could you maybe ask whether they can put the epidural in, which lasts for bout 3-4hrs (I think) but not have it topped up? That's assuming you're in labour long enough for it to wear off - hmmm... That way it's still in position in case of C-section but you'll still feel for pushing etc. Maybe worth discussing with Drs?

princess - I really, really feel for you. It's just awful not knowing how long till the work is going to be finished. As I said, we have carpets coming today & thursday, but all the really dusty, messy jobs are finished at last. As for toddlers in building sites, we've been there and done that too. It's really hard work. We did a lot of work downstairs at the start of the year, including the room that links all the other rooms in the house. DS was 20-26 months at the time (serious work, took 6 months), and I spent as much time as possible out of the house, because it's just impossible to keep an inquisitive little boy out of all the toolboxes & away from the saws etc. We were especially careful due to the fact that someone close to the family (adult) severed some of his fingers on a circular saw last year! Anyway, I'll be thinking of you...

Pk616 · 29/01/2008 10:06

Good morning ladies,
I am in fair spirits today so the moaning will be at a minimum ,yay!!
I have to see my MW in just over an hour and I've broken my sample bottle - they only give you one for the WHOLE pregnancy, nasty! So I'm gonna have to go and BEG for a new one from the evil receptionist when the GPs opens in quarter of an hour! No big mission though as GPs is only over the road and down a little bit. It's the having to publicly justify my request for a sample bottle to the receptionist thats the bummer! But, hey, it's not getting me down so who cares right!
Warning to all those impatient ladies out there... If you get desperate enough to consider castor oil here's a few things you should know first:
It tastes nasty
It works by irritating the bowel and sending you a lovely dose of the runs (guarenteed)
It does not guarantee going into labour
It should NOT be tried if you are not already starting to dilate and/or the baby's head is engaged because your labour will be long and v. painful
It is quite likely to put the baby into some level of distress and so s/he'll more than likely pooh inside you which is not ideal.

Someone recommended that I tried it last night because I was going on and on about being fed up of being a v. slow moving blimp. Luckily I decided to check it out before I gave it some real consideration! I've had enough of being clumsy and wider when I turn to the side than facing forward but I don't want to distress my LO or have a bad case of delhi belly thankyou very much!

Ty - forgot to mention yesterday. I'm also impressed with your thriftyness! We spent about the same but only because the mattress was paid for by my dad and MIL payed £75 towards the cotbed!

I take the vow... "I, Pk616, do most solemnly swear not to forget about all the late febbers, including those who dont end up popping til march... even when my LO is here and I may have other, slightly more pressing concerns, I vow to check in on them and keep the feb-bing alive..."

mana - You are right to be proud of yourself lady! I think you did a great thing and I know it must have been hard to do too.

That bug in a rug thing looks cool!

Sorry you're level of discomfort has stepped it up a couple of notches of late. Makes my level of discomfort seem pathetic and very minor and makes me glad I've decided to shut up about being impatient and round! Sending you all the strengthening pain reducing vibes I can muster.

mummylittle - hello lass. Low blood sugar and anaemia can both cause pins and needles in the mouth, give your MW a tinkle and see what she says. Mind you the pineapple might have something to do with it!!

Count - Like the sound of your nursery! Can we come and stay!!

Poblets - glad you had a nice day yesterday. Today should be easier now as you've had a bit of a break from the chaos and a bit of R&R. Carpet fitters are a clean and reasonably quick bunch of invaders anyway so your day should be a reasonably pleasant one!

lolo - waving back at ya!

widget - happy anniversary for yesterday.

princess - Happy anniversay for yesterday to you too! Sorry you had a shitty time with builder. Thanks for the cot compliment

Thanks everyone for your cot complements actually! I've been a bit inwardly focused of late and a little rude. sorry for that!

Blue - sorry your in pain and feeling down. You were right to have a word with your fella and I'm glad he's showing signs of having listened to you.

Kat - Chuffed for you that you have the ok for going natural. Fingers crossed for you to have good BP and protein results today

Merly - It was me! I am the great boasting poster! Your baby clothes sound cool to me! I'm also rolling my eyes at your strange friend! I bought these the other day and I don't care that they are supposed to be for boys! I can't see why a girl couldn't wear them!

Lucyand2 · 29/01/2008 10:14

Still pregnant despite my numerous attempts over the weekend, I'm getting phonecalls everyday now from everyone to ask how I'm getting on (and finding it slightly annoying!)
I can't believe it is only a couple of days until my due date, especially as my entire family told me baby would come early
The midwife is here today and hopefully we'll be having no panics like last week. I could do with being in labour though!

ExpectingKat · 29/01/2008 10:16

my first labour was hell got put on drip due to waters going was suppose to have an epi then put as they were settin up drip there was an emergency, they said you can wait for the epi or start of now it will be bout an hour, being my first time thought no probs can cope for an hour worst choice went down hill after about half hour continual contractions was hell on earth, didn't know wot was happenin never got epi due to other emergency, they kept sayin shes gonna have this baby b4 shes ready cos couldn't stop pushinthen thought baby was in distress rushed off for them to check if in distress with thing on head hubby left outside not knowin what was happin the anthestist outside with him askin what was going on and sayin i think thats the lady I should givin epi too. she wasn't in distress pushed her out in 8 miutes needless to say put me off births for a good while. found out afterwards that they were just about to give me a c-sec! all in about 5 and half hours. Also had to shots of pethadine and didn't even know it.
second over 12hours just gas and air but was heaven compared
3rd 5and half hours again half a shot of pethadine not long b4 birth but again no probs
So the first makes me a bit more wary and thats wasn't twins
will just have to see what happens today I suppose and go from there must dash to get ready speak soon

Jo9977 · 29/01/2008 10:44

Well done mana for your maturity!

Love the bug in a rug!

So sorry to all in pain and uncomfortable during night...I am just so restless with a back that can't settle and was in tears last night at the thought of another sleepless night - it's turning into a real sticking point for my brain...go to bed-will have restless back-won't sleep-endless night ahead-can't cope-QED PK...need you on the case please

Am finally going to try and upload a couple of piccies today and do my profile - better late than never!

Have a good day everyone and let's have something HAPPEN please!!!

Egg · 29/01/2008 11:31

I will never forget the late Febbers. You lot are keeping me sane .

Tidying house before dad arrives in 10 mins, doula has taken DS1 to the swings, babies are "milk drunk" in their chairs following feeding, am cooking DS1 sausages and mash for lunch, and popping on here briefly.
