Hi everyone

There's still some space in the old thread - Waddling Zombies and Dancing Babies so no need to start posting yet. Just thought I would get it set up before I go home tonight ready for all you insommiacs!

OP posts:

jooseyfruit · 24/01/2008 14:33

oh, just read that it's evening primrose, not vit E, Soz!!

Sherida · 24/01/2008 15:24

OW! Now I'm wondering, having posted that baby will be late, if I was wrong. Sudden, sharp pains in my pelvis and thinking baby is banging the head against the bone there! My back and ribs are killing me, and walking huuuurrrts! Someone joked I'll be in labour this afternoon....at least I hope she was joking! I was having a back massage and pedicure at the time!

Hoping everyone who feels rotten can get a good nights sleep soon!

Slacker, nice to hear good things about bf because it's something I'm really nervous about.

Sarahmike LOL about the ankle setting off labour, what about my pedicure!

Laila, I understand about the pain lying down, we can't do anything, can we!

But they tell me it's worth it.

Jo9977 · 24/01/2008 16:10

Thanks for the summary PK!

I am so not sleeping at the moment and so brain dead....and fed up...and restless...and bored...

gingermumi · 24/01/2008 16:21

Congrats beansprout and family

SallyInYorkshire · 24/01/2008 16:45

Hi everyone, and congrats to beansprout!

I am only 36wks and so feel a long way behind some of you other ladies... but am so NOT READY to give birth atm!!! (will I ever be? )

Went to see MW for routine ante natal check, she says the head is engaged (Aha!! Thats why my pelvic pain has got worse all of a sudden!! also lots of people have been telling me "my bump has dropped" but I didn't believe them cos I am still so massive!!). But!! she says it has engaged in an OP position - Oh noes!!!! If I spend lots of time on all 4's do you think it will turn? I asked the MW this and she seemed to think it unlikely...

Serves me right for spending so long slumped back on the settee watching TV instead of scrubbing the kitchen floor!!!

Gill79 · 24/01/2008 16:57

Hi all - well the head was back in the right place by the time I went to see the registrar at the hospital so luckily no manipulation. She seemed surprised I couldn't tell where the head was myself... Anyway still not engaged so they're going to keep an eye on it as he could get back in the wrong position straight away. Am feeling a bit rubbish having just polished off quite a lot of dairy milk on top of a huge lunch and a crunch corner.

Congratulations Beansprout! Glad to hear everything went well. Have you got a name yet?

Tyaca - those participation antenatal classes sound dire - surely adults should be able to sit and listen to facts and advice without having to interact... Mine were fab - a midwife, a broken pelvis held together with sellotape and a doll. Got all the essentials across! I missed your post about depression from earlier in the week - well I've no idea what it feels like but DO make sure you keep in touch or keep posting and try not to worry in advance as most likely you'll be fine.

Lovemymum - yikes - your employment issue sounds a bit of a nightmare - hope it is resolved without too much pain (well no pain for you anyway!)

Pk616 · 24/01/2008 16:57

I'm bored too jo!
the kind of bored where theres stuff to do that would solve the problem but you can't be bothered to do it!

tyaca · 24/01/2008 18:36

shhhh with all this nipple tweaking talk. i just have to put my bra on too forcefully at the moment and they start leaking ... after reading that long thread in childbirth, i'm convinced i'm going to be like that woman who squirted with every contraction.

sally, i'm intrigued.... you say you spend a lot of time on all 4s ... is that a birth-related thing, or just in general?? i'm not even 36 weeks yet and tempted to go hang out on the march thread cause i'm scared everyone here's going to be done, dusted and crawling before my LO's even engaged...

gill... v glad to hear that no manipulation was needed. won't lie to you, the manipulation sounded painful. our pelvis was also broken, but not even repaired by cellotape. should we all be worried that all demonstration pelvises appear to be broken?????

scan has left me confused. had it cause my bumps small, my baby's growth's alright. she's slightly underweight, but still in safe area (am 35+4 and she is 5'5lb)... but i was told to speak to my MW cause my umbilical artery PI is 95%- which is apparently out of safe area. what on earth does that mean? i asked a lot of questions to scanner, but he really didnt help me. left a message for my MW but no response and she not back at work now til tues. guess it can't be serious, but that doesnt stop me worrying. have posted on preg thread to see if any MWs/doulas/medics can help. grrrr............ these medic types need to realise how much us preg ladies worry. you cant just say something and not explain.

tyaca · 24/01/2008 18:38

sorry sally, just read your post again and see you wrote if i spend a lot of time on all 4s.... was thinking that was a bit strange.

princessllama · 24/01/2008 19:14

poor you tyaca, not good to have to spend til tuesday wondering and worrying what they were on about-stupid scanner person. i wish i knew something helpful. how about any of us who have mw/obstetric apt before tuesday grill our lot for you?-(unfortunately i'm not due to see mine til another 10 days but there must be someone who is)
glad the baby moved gill.
whoever it is with baby OP bad luck. try the all 4's with your bum in the air.
lo now thinks everybody has a baby in their tummy, and is keeping up the sighing and saying ah baby as she rubs her tummy. more helpful is her new word 'nevermind' said with shrug of shoulders. brought me off the ceiling from my rage at rubbish john lewis cot delivery people.
congratulations leesmum and the beansprout family.
tyaca i also fear that i'll still be pg when everyone else is home and dry.

tyaca · 24/01/2008 19:40

all fine here. DH rang his mum, whose ex SIL is a MW . basically i have a bit of high blood pressure in the artery that connects the baby to the placenta. not in itself something to worry about just will need to be monitored. hurrah!

tyaca · 24/01/2008 19:43

just seen i've posted 3 out of the last 4 messages. guess who's sky telly's gone on the blink! right, off to bother some other bit of MN....

CountTo10 · 24/01/2008 20:59

Congrats Beansprout, not jealous much Thanks for the update Mr Beans and hope ds1 gets to see his new bro soon x

Leesmum - sounds like you got there just in time and did an absolutely smashing job. Grazed labia - sounds horrendous!!!

What's the deal with arnica - can you use sprays/gel/creams or should we be using something else?

Had an appt with the doc today to find out I now have no midwife!!! She got promoted and they haven't sorted a replacement. Nice of her to tell me - only saw her last week!!! Honestly she has been so crap!!! Doc was lovely tho. Not engaged or anything but postition good. Still getting loads of twinges and having to breathe through my braxtons now.

Tyaca hope you feel a bit better now for talking to someone who's actually explained something to you!! Bumps can be small cause it can depend on fluid levels. My bump is a hell of a lot smaller this time round apparantly to look at but I still measure ok, diff being I have a lot less fluid this time round which I can tell cause when the baby moves, so does half my body with it!!!!

ayrshirelolo · 24/01/2008 22:03

Hiya ladies, just posting a wee hello to you all, hope you are all ok and not feeling too crap in general!. It's this waiting stuff that's the killer, isn't it? I'm fed up getting phone calls from people i haven't spoken to in a few weeks "just to see how everything is..." Gggrrrr!!!! And my mum felt the need to text me today to say she was going out this morning, but would have her mobile with her.... double GGGgggggrrrrrrr! Hate feeling that everyone is just waiting around for me to hatch! Anyway, as one of the lovely ladies on Jan thread said... who's next? It could be Yoooooooooooooouu!!!!(in spooky mystic meg tone!!)
Countto10 apparantly arnica tablets are for post birth, you start taking them as soon as you pop and they help with healing, internal bruising etc. Don't think the cream is much use, homeopathic cream called "hypercal" for cuts and sores (ouch!) is probably better for lady bits!
Sally i would do some of the all4s stuff anyway, my dd had engaged in a lovely position at 36 weeks and by the time she was born 3 weeks later she was OP so if they can move one way then i imagine they can move the other? I think lying on your left side is supposed to work!!
Tyaca aren't the blardy medics infuriating?! Glad it's not serious!
Can't remember who was really trying to avoid iron tablets, (sorry preggy brain!) but just wanted to say i've been taking them for a couple of weeks and managed not to get too bunged up sorry if TMI - by eating loads of fruit and veg and drinking loads of liquid.
anyway, had a very hot balti for dinner, hoping something kicks off soon, i'm huge and bored and officially fed up with being pregnant!!! lolo x

Slacker · 24/01/2008 22:21

I think I got it to work....after weeks of nagging I got DH to take some pics so have uploaded a bump pic finally. Am remaining anon though

Lucyand2 · 24/01/2008 23:12

Nice to see your bump slacker!!!
I'm glad the midwife was wrong too although it was nice to have the end in sight for a little while. Thankyou to all the well wishers, it was nice to have the support.

I'm up and wide awake as I'm over excited and just can't settle, have moved downstairs to avoid waking DP. I'm pretty much sure I've had my show now following a graphic discussion with my sister who's show was the same. Earlier tonight I had some terrible braxtons that (once again) made me wonder if I was going into labour. They've gone away but I also seem to have an upset tummy and lots of rumbling pains, in my bump and my bum!
I had an upset tummy last time which is why I'm up wandering round the house and wondering if it was a good idea to send my parents back home

lailasmum · 25/01/2008 09:24

Hello All
we had a lovely swim session yesterday afternoon, the pool was really hot for some reason (its usually freezing), like a hot bath so would thoroughly recommend a good float around if any one is feeling a bit pants, totally revived me, even though I walked the 3/4 mile home afterwards, still felt really relaxed afterwards.

sarahmikeandharry · 25/01/2008 09:57

Glad to hear you had a good swim Lailas- would love to go but cannot fit into swim suit anylonger!!! lol- dont want to go buying a new one now with 9 days to go!!!!

Hope everyone is ok,

Felling really uncomfortable had a long nite- in and out of bed to the loo etc, bump feels heavy and lots of pain/pressure in pelvis!!!

Praying as often as possible for DD to make her appearance- !!!lol

i have just hoovered and mopped the floor and desperately need to go clean the bathroom but cannot drag my butt back up stairs to do it!!!

Have to wait in for MW as she is coming to check my bp again today, will let you all know how i get on!!!!

MERLYPUSS · 25/01/2008 12:01

Just checking in and out. Still cooking the twinnies. Haven't had the time to play catch up on recent posts.
Take care ladies. (and littlies)

Jo9977 · 25/01/2008 12:13

That's it exactly PK! I could always check over my hospital bag (but the cat's sitting on the lid and I don't want to disturb her...), could read over DH's appeal against having his salary cut by £2500 by the council in two years time ('nother cup of tea anyone?...), could get off my bum and go for a walk to clear the cobwebs...or I could just lurk on MN!!

sarahmikeandharry · 25/01/2008 12:23

Hi werlypuss- Glad to hear your babies are still cooking!!!

Hope all is well with you!!!

i am exhausted carring one so you must be ready to burst!!!!- hope my saying that hasn't offended you!

manamana · 25/01/2008 12:47

hi all. had brilliant pg brain yesterday, went to my mw appt at 2.45 and was getting more and more irritated that i had to wait so long - went in at 3.45 - until came out and re-read my notes and noticed that my appt was actually at 1.45, whoops - lucky i didn't get a telling off!
Had diff mw and a student who measured my bump at 44cm!!!! It was 37 last week! Luckily mw remeasured and it was only 38 - mw was v nice and talked me thru the cs process but she didn't have any of my blood/urine test results which was a bit annoying. Anyway will be back there again next week for LAST APPT!!!! Only 9 days to go...
Having a date should be focusing my mind to getting all these jobs done but I am just so uncomfortable/fed up that once i'm in one position it takes ages to motivate myself to move... ho hum
lailasmum, v jealous of your swim, might try that monday.
jo, rubbish news re dh's salary - how can they do that?!
arnica, i have ordered some cream to rub on my cs scar.
tyaca, glad to hear you have dciphered ultrsound lingo - that's really mean to leave you worrying about stuff like that.
sarah, fingers crossed for continued low blood pressure.
gill, glad to hear baby has moved again. I'm with others who say they can keep moving right to the end - plenty of time on all 4's with bum in air and sleep on your left. My friedn's baby moved a couple of times DURING LABOUR!!!! last time which caused a few complications . Think there are loads of things that can affect baby's position so don't give up until the very end - although, prob best to read up on cs etc and get your head around all options so that you prepared.
Anyway, am going to look at babyrug web site for something snuggly to wrap baby in - ds was a summer baby so have no warm clothes to hand down.
take care all x

Pk616 · 25/01/2008 13:32

Hello Ladies,

MY COTBED IS BACK IN STOCK AND I'VE ORDERED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[g rin]
Am I chuffed or what!!!

pobletsmum · 25/01/2008 13:45

Just stopped in briefly to read all messages, but wanted to say congratulations to PK - that's great news! Hope you don't have to wait too long for it.

Pk616 · 25/01/2008 13:56

Sorry!
Just had to express my glee there! I don't think I put in enough grins to be honest!
I'm feeling very very lazy today so today's posting is mainly all about moi!
Did I mention that I've ordered my cotbed now all I've got to do is wait (up to 12 working days for delivery) the baby could be here before the cot bed (not likely, I don't think she ever wants to come out - still not engaged and I'm 38 wks!)but I've got a moses basket so I'm not too bothered by that!
I think DP and I are crumbling under the stress of waiting. Wednesday night I finally got some sleep after DAYS of not much at all. I slept in until midday then the cat went and knocked a BIG plant pot off the windowsil and covered half of the livingroom with soil, including the sofa and a chair. It took 3 hours on my hands and knees with the vac and a dustpan and brush to get it all up and when I was finally done I was knackered so I went back to bed and slept through to 7pm. When I came down stairs in a zombie like state DP was washing up for me. He seemed a little out of sorts so I asked what was wrong. He replied with a question (I hate that!) "Have you been to the cash point" I hadn't as the nearest one on foot is in the hospital and I didn't want to go there andthe only othe rone is only accessable by car and I couldn't face the hastle of trying to find a parking space on my return to our nightmare of a road. "Oh, I thought we were going to order pizza as soon as I got home tonight, I thought you were looking forward to it!" (it was pay day which is ALWAYS takeaway day) "sorry" I replied in a mouse like whisper and I stomped off upstairs to put my shoes on making it clear with every step that I was throwing a paddy. When I came down stairs I was faffing around trying to get my purse and car keys together and dropping nearly everything I was picking up because I was shaking with adrenalin and I just collapsed in a heap of tears. He came straight over and gave me a big hug and said sorry so we're sorted again (he had tears in his eyes too, bless him) and we both know it was a really stupid pointless tiff but I don't recall either of us being that irrational with each other before! So as I said I think this waiting game is all getting a bit too much for us now. I may have to take the calendar down and try and for get how many days are left until my due date to preserve our sanity!
