Hi everyone

There's still some space in the old thread - Waddling Zombies and Dancing Babies so no need to start posting yet. Just thought I would get it set up before I go home tonight ready for all you insommiacs!

OP posts:

And yuk to swallowing!

beansprout · 13/01/2008 16:06

Swallowing? If that wasn't made up by a bloke, then I don't know what is!! I may even start a thread later to see if anyone has actually done this. Just trying to think of a tastefully (no pun) worded title!

Thanks for the pox comments. Ds had a very reasonable version. Spots didn't even itch (apparently they don't always). He will go to nursery tomorrow and mummy will finally have a day to herself!! Woo-hoo!!

Only 10 days to go... gulp!!

beansprout · 13/01/2008 16:07

Oh and gleaned from another thread that Egg will be staying in hospital for a few days but am not quite sure why, which is a bit of a concern. Thought that the quick birth would be a good thing and she would be home soon. Will track down Squonk and see if she has an update later on!

Lucyand2 · 13/01/2008 17:22

Sorry for posting and running, thankyou for all the concern! I don't know what was up with me yesterday as I perked up slightly in the evening only to feel awful again before bed. Today I've been tired but nowhere near as bad so I'm suspecting it's nothing to worry about. I'm going to ask my midwife for my blood test results tomorrow just in case it's something to do with that.

SallyInYorkshire · 13/01/2008 17:32

hi lucyand2 - glad you are feeling better, I think by now we are all getting "good days and bad days" but it sounds like you had an especially bad do! maybe you should also get the midwife to check your blood pressure and urine again in case it's something to do with that.

rozzyraspberry · 13/01/2008 17:44

My goodness beansprout - 10 more days!! Thanks for the update on Egg - perhaps she's staying in to get an extra little bit of help with the twins since her ds1 is only around 22months? Hopefully that's all it is anyway! They also sometimes keep babies in a few days to keep an eye on jaundice etc so fingers crossed all 3 are ok!! I can't wait for her to come on though to get all the details. I don't even know how big the twins were yet.

In the last few days I've definitely been feeling a lot more tired. I suppose I'm 36 weeks now and it's to be expected - I know I've been very lucky up to now and had a really good pregnancy. Downside to that is I sometimes think it hasn't really sunk in that I'm going to have another baby in around 4 weeks.

Leesmum - I'm seeing the midwife tomorrow so will find out then if lo has moved. The movement I'm feeling is in a different place so I think he's moved at least a little. I think my midwifes concern was that 3rd labours can sometimes be longer anyway so the fact that this is my 3rd coupled with back to back could make it quite long. However, I've seen from other threads on here that 3rd labours aren't always longer and back to back labours aren't always longer so I'm not too concerned about it. Will just have to wait and see what happens. Not an awful lot I can do about it other than crawling about on all fours!!

miniandme · 13/01/2008 21:04

Ok here it is now i have a spare 5 mins to post properly.

As you know i was taken in on tuesday due to high BP and protein in wee,was looking at induction the next morning which never happened as they had to shut the labour ward due to having 11 ladies in labour and only 9 rooms!! This stayed closed till wednesday late afternoon. I had a sweep done on wednesday morning which led to a show early hours thursday morning, they agreed then to induce me by ARM thursday afternoon.

Taken to delivery suite, waters broken at 3.15pm and left to see if anything developed. Was grudgingly talked into an epidural by docs in case of sudden need for intervention for twin 2 even though i was in no pain or contracting at this time. I agreed just in case twin 2 ran into trouble even though i was against the idea to start with, wish i hadnt agreed now as the started the epidural procedure at 5ish ,put in too much block and i was paralysed from my toes to my neck!!!!! Very very scary indeed and so so lucky it didnt affect my breathing, the epidural was rapidly turned off but tookan age to behing to wear off.

Just after 8 when things were a bit calmer i was put on a pitocin drip to bring on contractions, this worked well and i managed on gas and air till Abby started to make an appearance, she delivered at 10.46 pm weighing 6lb 7 1/2oz ! They palpated my tummy but struggled to find twin 2 so done an internal to find him,as the examined me his waters broke in a MASSIVE puddle on the bed and floor and he was rapidly born at the back of the waters weighing 6lb 10 oz at 10.54 so there is just 8 minutes between them.

They both scored 9 on their apgar scores ,Jack wee'd all over the bed within 30 seconds of delivery and both babies fed within about 40 mins of birth.

We came home on saturday at teatime and have been settling in nicely but quietly. Will try to get soem photos on too but there is a load on my bebo too so feel free to check them out there www.bebo.com/loobiemac

beansprout · 13/01/2008 21:35

Thanks mini!!

Congratulations and welcome to the world Abby and Jack!!

How are you feeling now? Hope you are all well.

bluedomino · 13/01/2008 22:25

Mini, so glad to hear you are doing well. Congratulations. Take it easy.

ayrshirelolo · 13/01/2008 23:03

Congratulations Mini and thank you for telling us about it! Hope Abby and Jack are nice and settled and giving you a peacefull-ish night!!
Thanks for the tips on iron tablets, also got a letter from my consultant at the hospital yesterday saying i was "slightly anaemic" and "to ensure i got an adequate supply of iron for the rest of my pregnancy". Well at least GP and consultant both checking my results but overkill perhaps? At midwife tomorrow anyway, so should find out more!! Have managed not to get constipated anyway due to tons of fruit and veg and lots of raspberry leaf tea!
And yes, i've heard the swallowing story before..... dh smiled a lot.... wonder why? One of the girls on the Jan thread thinks it's a story made up by men as stomach acid would negate any effects, although someone else has a neighbour who has avoided induction 3 times and swears by it!!! Can't be good for heartburn, though??!!
With that lovely though i'm going to bed... night all! lolo x

tyaca · 13/01/2008 23:38

congratulations to you and your family mini. glad to hear the twins are healthy and well. many thanks for taking the time to give us all the details - can't believe you were caught in a labour traffic jam at the hospital. sorry to hear about the epidural - sounds scary and i'm glad everything went so well afterwards.

PK - 23rd in Solihull sounds good, barring deliveries etc...anyone else want to join us??

Can't sleep tonight, despite being knackered all day...c'est la vie! Feel so full and a little bit sick as well - especially after reading the bit about swallowing...you must be joking!!!!! NO WAY!

ExpectingKat · 14/01/2008 06:19

fryalot · 14/01/2008 08:03

morning everyone.

EGG has asked me to post on here and let you know about her twins born on the 10th... Rebecca was 4lb 11oz and Jacob was 5lb 4oz. She should be coming out of hospital tomorrow and I'm sure she will let you know all the gory details soon after.

Egg and babies are doing fine, hospital just want to keep them in for a little while as the babies are quite little, but absolutely no problems at all.

Egg wanted me to send heartfelt congrats to miniandme. She has been texting me every day asking for news but I was looking on the wrong thread so didn't fulfill my duties efficiently.

btw - miniandme - FAB sizes, bloody well done from me too

sarahmikeandharry · 14/01/2008 08:07

ExpectingKat · 14/01/2008 08:49

Thanx squonk, Ty for the update glad everything is good with egg, sending best wishes to her, rebecca and jacob and the rest of the family.

mymissus · 14/01/2008 09:49

Fantastic news re all the twins - well done mini and egg

Had first antenatal class on Friday which went really well and seem to have a nice group. It was all day so quite intense but answered a lot of questions, so am quite looking forward to the next one on Sat.

Have my best friend coming down for a couple of nights now to help me make some food and shop a bit etc, v excited!

I'll try to come up to Solihull for the Midlands meet up on 23rd - let me know the details. Although having written 2 cars of in the last 6 months (neither my fault!) I am trying to stay off the roads....

rozzyraspberry · 14/01/2008 09:53

Thanks Squonk for giving us an update on Egg - someone had spotted on your other thread that she's had the twins but we didn't have any more details. So glad she's doing well!

And mini - what can I say - your babies are absolutely beautiful!!! And apart from the problem with the epidural a good labour experience - well done!!!

pobletsmum · 14/01/2008 10:01

Mini - so good to hear from you. Thanks for sharing bebo pics - just gorgeous, especially the ones of Jack & Abby snuggled up together - aaahhhhhhh!

Squonk - thanks for update. Looking forward to hearing from egg when she's settled at home.

fryalot · 14/01/2008 10:38

sorry guys - my fault. Egg gave me instructions of where to post what and I buggered it up I was supposed to come on here and tell you guys as well.

To make up for my incompetence - you are the only thread that has weights so far, and I hope you can forgive my crappiness. Next time egg has a couple of babies I'll be waaaaaaay better

Pk616 · 14/01/2008 11:21

Midlands meet up - Ok so, Solihull town centre on Wednesday 23rd.
We still need to sort out an actual place and a time.
What about Costa Coffee in Mell Square? I figure it's easy to find! If you don't know Solihull that well here's a link to a map. If you hover over Costa Coffee on the menu on the left of the page it'll glow red on the map!
Anyone is welcome, the more the better I say! but i know it'll be quite a way for a lot of you ladies, especially this late in our pregnancies!
I've gotta get out of this chair now cause I'm just not comfortable! I'll pop back later to have a read of what's been going on.
ttyl ladies

sarahmikeandharry · 14/01/2008 12:26

Great pk16- looking forward to it- unless i am labouring of couse!!!! i am 37+1 today but DS was born at 27+2 so i have everything crossed it gonna be sooner rather than later!!!lol i feel so ready to have her now!!!!!

however would not want to have her tommorrow as its my 24th Birthday and i think she should have her own!!!! lol- i know she will come when she is good and ready!!!!lol

we are all january babies in our house- DH was on 6th, me tommorrow and DS next tues (22nd)!!!
we like to keep the family on their toes !!!!!

however its too expensive and nobidy likes to celebrate with us!!!!

Hope everyone is well,

Lucyand2 · 14/01/2008 12:44

I wish I could do a meet up but I have no transport and live in the middle of nowhere! Maybe when I get moved this year (fingers crossed) I can think about meet ups.
Really impressed by the twinnies weights and how well they're all doing - you must be the proudest Mums ever.
I haven't got in touch with my midwife yet but I've been scoffing down the iron just in case as I have been aneamic before.
My bags are all packed now and to be honest I am bored of waiting, i just want to give birth now so I can meet my baby. Last night I could see her legs and arms really clearly through my bump as she was really wriggling against the side, it made me more impatient to see her. The clothes I've been bought aren't helping as they look so cute
I hope everyones doing well in these exciting last few weeks. I'm looking forward to more birth announcements!

manamana · 14/01/2008 13:07

Hi all
Very exciting to find so much news about our newest twins. Mini, thanks for sharing all details - epidural experience sounds scarey and the closed labour ward horrendous but all came good in the end and they are beautiful - have just got a bit teary looking at them (especially the one where they are snuggling each other!) and thinking of my new one on its way! Aiming to get all tiny clothes washed by end of today so will be ready - its feeling really real now - 20 days and counting...
Squonk, thanks for the update on Egg - great news that they just want to keep an eye on them rather than any problems.
Thanks to all for reassurance on show, have read lots more since online and in books and v conflictig info so am going with experienced mum advice from here and thinking it could just be part and probably doesn't mean anything, will mention to MW on Thurs though.
Well, had my trip out shopping yesterday! Not quite the success I was hoping for but got me out of the house! Main problem was that as dh had to look after ds so electric scooter was best option. But they are HUGE and quite tricky to operate so geting round the shops was v tricky and people are VERY unhelpful, didn't really get to look at much as was concentrating on getting in/out of places. Managed to destroy a couple of displays in M&S and Boots as there just wasn't enough room to manoevure! But did manage to get a pack of newborn vests and disposable pants! Also meant we got to go out for a meal though which was nice
Hope everyne is feeling OK today, lots of suffering pregnant bodies out there.
I can't get comfy on the sofa anymore so am going to try and get our dining room/playroom/office (ah yes its minimalist chic all the way!!!) organised as obviously that will be a main concern fr the baby!
V jealous of your meet-up, hope you have a great time.
