Evening all feeling a bit better now thankfully.

pigley - don't know why but you don't look like I imagined, you look very young, lovely little bump, glad I am not the only one definitely looking pregnant now.

Re: prams and buggies, I have had 4 for DD1 I had a huge travel system that lasted a total of 8 weeks then I bought a Maclaren Techno XT which is a great little pram, suitable from birth as it lies flat and folds up well. Have also had a M&P Twin Aria (hated) and a Graco Tandem (hated) this time I am wanting a Phil and Teds Sport as DD2 will be 2 1/2 and I reckon she will still need a pram for a bit or more importantly I will need her in a pram for a bit yet if I am on my own with all 3.

Now if I was having a first baby or had older ones oh don't get me started think I would be a ponce and get a Bugaboo or and iCandy or maybe one of the M&P Pramette things. I like the idea of a proper lie flat pram for the first 6 months then a buggy afterwards. Whatever you get though chances are you will end up with a lightweight stroller. As you can tell I love prams fortunately DP keeps me in check!

isaidno - lol @ no one looking at your arse you are so right, once the bump grows no one even looks at your face anymore, everyone stares at the bump hey and some people even bypass you and talk to the bump. Am at your bargains though, am I the only one that resists maternity clothes until the very last possible minute?

min - best of luck for the scan tomorrow, anyone else having scans this week?

pigleychez · 06/01/2008 21:46

at Kitty

Its funny isnt it how you get a mental image of people. I know i look really young! Im 26 but most people think im about 18/20.

Ill be pleased of it when im 40!

pigleychez · 06/01/2008 21:49

Just out of Interest Kitty... what did you imagine me like?

sweetkitty · 06/01/2008 22:01

I don't have a clue pigley I don't know what anyone looks like but I still get a shock when I see a pic if that makes sense.

pigleychez · 06/01/2008 22:04

I know exactly what you mean Same here really.

Glad your feeling better now

sweetkitty · 06/01/2008 22:07

Thanks I am also going to make an efoort to be in bed by 11pm every night.

She says whilst sitting on the pc at 22.07

libralady · 07/01/2008 06:23

Morning all,

God I've had a crap night! DS has has us up since 2.30 throwing up. Hope it's not the norovirus.
Bloody typical, I've got to go back to work today! and I'm knackered. At least he managed to go back to sleep inbetween bouts. I just lay in bed awake listening out for him and then the alarm went off at 5.30. Feel like death at the moment. Worse thing is, I'm now back up to my full time hours after my therapeutic working following my return to work after my op. So now working 8:45 hour days. Oh the joy!
Hope everyone else is OK.
LLxx

EEC · 07/01/2008 08:43

Poor you LL. How is DS today? My DS has had a cough cold all holiday, plus throwing up thing on Friday night. Feel so sorry for him as now back at school and really miserable. Managed to avoid family cold over hols myself and feeling pretty pleased, but it arrived with full force last night. Blgh...Still, better to have it now, and at least I don't have to cope with work like lots of you. I know I have it easy really.

I had the most aful second hand prams the first two times, I would really love something good this time. Was considering a travel system, but not so sure now. Is a newborn really comfy in a ligh flat pushchair. Can you leave them to sleep in them after a walk?

Have started telling people now, and have had some very mixed reactions (due to big age gap - a lot of pretty surprised people) Most assume it was a mistake. Nice reaction from MIL. 'you're joking? All those sleepless nights... glutton for punishment...etc' Oh well, I expect she was just shocked, but a congrats would have been nice!

Still it's really nice to be able to talk about it freely, although I must do my best not to drone on as much as I would like to!

Minkus · 07/01/2008 09:15

morning all

Hope ds is better soon Libra, we had a difficult night also as it was really windy here which woke ds up quite a lot, I ended up going in with him at about 4 just to get some sleep myself!

Hope too that your cold doesn't make you feel too rough EEC. At least everyone else is back at school/work and you can sniffle on your own! Re: travel systems- I loved ours, found it really versatile and as they tend to be a bit sturdier than pushchairs ds always looked very snug and secure in it. But it did have drawbacks- because it was sturdy it was also quite a lot heavier and bulkier than a pushchair would have been and not particularly easy to get in and out of the car. I'd like another trendier one really but can't get the capital investment approved by the board (i.e. dh!)- so will stick with the other, it's still in good nick so I'm not too disappointed.

Off to dr's later to get more sickness medication- got my days muddled up last week and thought prescription would be ready Friday but alas no not til today- and so had a really sicky day yesterday as the drugs were wearing off! Feel revolting this morning too so the sooner I can get there the better. Note to self- leave mn alone!

Jodiew79 · 07/01/2008 09:38

Morning girlies (and bumps)

How are we all? apart from those with colds and sickness, which seems to be the vast majority! I myself have been sick again this morning, and I haven't thrown up since last Sunday. Weird. Although I'm panicking now that it might be this virus thing thats on the news!

I have one of those M&P Pramette jobbies and I must say it was (and still is ace) I loved it when DS was small and he was in the Pram bit and now he's 16 months it's still really comfy and sturdy, OK, yes it's abit heavy to heave in and out of the car, but I bought a really cheap stroller to keep in the boot if I needed to 'pop' anywhere, but haven't realy used it as he's not comfortable in it.
One thing I would say though, if I was to have that time over was not to waste money on the travel systems as I found the car seat to heavy to move around after about 6 weeks so it just stayed in the car, and it was REALLY fiddly to attach to the pram, so I ended up moving baby from car seat to Pram when we went out.

Long post sorry....phew

HI all just a quick post.

Sorry to hear some of you are still feeling poorly with MS and illness. I'm starting to feel human again and enjoying pregnancy yipee - never thought it would happen!

RUMPEL · 07/01/2008 13:48

Hi All,

TWINKLE - scan is fabby! Are they fraternals right enough? i though you had DCs already?

RE - prams. I have a mini cooper so there are only 3 that fit in the boot. I went for a Quinny Buzz and bought the dreamicot too. The dreamicot was great when she was very small (and she was a Winter baby so very protective up here in the windy North) but she is very tall and grew out of it quickly. It is a good system and the Maxi Cosi car seat is very comfy when they are totey. I bought a Petit Star a few months ago for shopping as it is uber light and fits in the boot really well. It is not as sturdy though but great for shopping.

Had a rerally bad day yesterday - felt really sick all day and was dry heaving in my big black bucket! Feel marginally better today but I have the most awful insomina at the moment. I wake up in the early hours and just cannot get back to sleep. I've been using Nocturna homeopathic remedies and it just doesn't seem to be working - grrrr! Soo not helping with my irritable mood and face falling off issues .

No shopping here yet. I've still got a lot from before so will wait until Dh gets it all down form loft at the weekend to see if I need anything else. My boobs have only just started to get bigger now - last time they were really hard and swollen from 5 weeks on.

Poor DISNEYSTAR - sounds like she is having a really rough time of it. One of her wee sons had 3 heart attacks before 7 months and has had a triple bypass, another one has heart probls too. Where do some people get the strength from? And why is life so fecking hard for some people!!!?

PIGLEYCHEZ - an ickle bump! I thought you would have short dark hair and be quite small and a bit chubby, aged about 33 for some reason! (Probably the name - pigley makes you think of roundness)

Well am going for alie down as puky feeling is returning and I ma knackered. Take care allxxxxxx

RUMPEL · 07/01/2008 13:49

TWINKLE - should read 3 DCs already.!!

beepbeep · 07/01/2008 14:13

Hi all.

Nice bump pigley!

Had heavy few days with DD full of cold - got MMR jab on thurs, not sure whether to go ahead with it? HV says no prob so long as she doesn't have a temp but feel it's a little unfair on her.

Buggy wise we're going for the phil and teds - will be 19 months between and don't think i can expect madam to walk everywhere! Apparently there's a new one coming out soonish (called the vibe?) which is a lot lighter then others and some added 'features' so waiting to see what that's like. Looked at Jane tandem as have Jane now and think it's brill, but decided that when DD stops needing it then don't want to be stuck with double buggy.

Anyone else getting REALLY bad headaches with their pregnancy? Didn't last time, but getting really bad ones this time round (Bloomin typical when have a 13 month old to run round after!).

Hope everyone's scan's go well this week x

Minkus · 07/01/2008 14:53

OK so this doesn't have any bearing on the conversations so far today but...I'VE JUST HEARD MY BABYS HEARTBEAT!!!! DH is at work and so I had no one who might understand to share it with apart from you guys.

I borrowed a doppler from a friend and lay very still on our bed for an age, prodding and poking around- just about to give up and then there it was! Whoosh whoosh whoosh, I'm so excited had a little giggle to myself as I listened. Have been finding it hard to believe that I was pregnant but now I've heard this it makes everything seem a lot more real. Only mw appointment I've had so far was at my booking in app't (6 weeks, early I know but I wanted to talk about possibility of hyperemesis returning and approach to getting it sorted in advance) so this was first time.

Yay!

Minkus · 07/01/2008 14:58

Soz so excited there didn't say how cool you look in your pj's with your baby bump pigley- meant to say in an earlier post- or Rumpel are you having a better day today? Or even to beepbeep poor you with headaches, I think we're allowed paracetamol aren't we? Maybe that would help?

sweetkitty · 07/01/2008 15:28

hello typed a big message a while ago then DD2 pushed a button and deleted it all. She's in bed right now so can type in peace.

libralady - hope your DS is better soon, it's horrid when they are ill.

EEC - I can't fault the Maclaren Techno XT, with a cosy toes or a sheep skin liner it is lovely and cosy for a newborn, DD2 is still comfy in hers at nearly 2. Folds up nice and neat, I can get it and loads of shopping in the boot of a Clio. Also good for buses etc

Rumpel - am of your mini cooper, that is my childless life dream car, we are getting a lovely people carrier as we need to fit 3 car seats across the back, also when DP is driving now his seat is practically hitting off DD1's legs so we definitely need more leg room.

beepbeep - I'm probably going to get a Phil and Teds as well as DD2 will be 2.6y when this one is born so will still need a buggy for a bit, I really should have got one when I had DD2 but DP talked me out of it for some reason. I had 18 months between them so really needed one.

Minkus - on hearing babies heartbeat

oh on headaches I actually had one Nurofen yesterday, I know I know but they are apparently OK in the second trimester and I had already had paracetamol and they hadn't touched my headache and I was getting desperate. It worked great. Have also taken Migraleve whilst pregnant, GPs prescribe Co-codamol which is paracetamol and codeine too.

sweetkitty · 07/01/2008 15:37

Just had to have a look at the P&T Vibe looks fab but v expensive over £500 for the double no way I can justify it.

paulaplumpbottom · 07/01/2008 16:29

So what is the most desirable pram on the market?

PutThatInYourPipeandSmokeIt · 07/01/2008 16:36

I find mine very desirable - A Maclaren XT. Unfortunately it only holds one LO!

EEC · 07/01/2008 16:37

Does the mclaren xt go completely flat?

EEC · 07/01/2008 16:39

Also the review section says it has a small basket. Is it very small?

sweetkitty · 07/01/2008 16:45

Yes basket is quite small but I never found it a problem, handles are lovely for hanging shopping on but always remember to remove shopping before baby or buggy tips up. It lies practically completely flat maybe with an inch of an incline, I had DD2 in one from 8 weeks and she was fine. You can get some lovely pink or blue cosy toes (I have boring grey).

PTIYPASI - thats my problem I need a double or I would get a new XT.

ScottishSusan · 07/01/2008 19:57

Evening

Had scan today and it was brill!! Very clear and saw baby "waving" to me - aw!! Dates seem to be spot on so roll on July 18th. Got lots of bloods done and an extra thyroid test. I have underactive thyroid and have already had dose increased this pregnancy but mw thinks this may be causing me to feel so ill and might be causing the headaches... we'll see!!

Anyway returned to work after the scan and the day actually went quite well with only 1 bout of sickness. It will be tomorrow that is telling when the kids come back.

Night xx
