Hi everyone,

Tjuice- A girl!

My sister is due in May and shes just found shes having a girl too.

I too have been having a spring clean. Last Sunday i blitzed our bedroom and chucked out loadsa stuff!
Today DH and I have been sorting the spare room. Its been the junk room since we move here 4 years ago and the cupboards are full of junk.
Well now the room will have a new use its was time for the crap to go! DH's car is now full of black bags for the tip or charity shop! Cant believe how much stuff we got rid of, DH thinks the stuff must breed in the cupboards at night.

We moved all the furniture around in the nursery to making room for the cot and it now looks really sweet! Just need a baby in there now!

I too agree about wanting spirng! Im quite into gardening and cant wait to get back in the garden to sort my plants out. I hate winter! Plus it needs to get warmer as my winter coat is begininig to get abit snug around the tummy!

JODIEhavingababy · 03/02/2008 20:00

Definatly about time for spring, weather here was OK today, unless you got in the wind, then it was horrid, horrid, horrid!

So we went for sunday lunch and had a lovely time with some friends and to top it all off DS slept all the way through and only woke up when it was time to go! How perfect!

I can't wait to find out what we are having, would like a girl, in the ideal world, (I bet you would never have guessed!) but I guess we get what we are given, and really wouldn't mind another boy.... We didn't find out last time and it really was lovely, as you don't get many nice surprises in life, but this time I'm thinking practically. (sp?)

Well done at you all for having sort outs, I'm far too lazy for that! Although I have sorted all DS's old clothes into size order yesterday so they will be easy to put my hands on when I next need them, so I suppose thats abit organised!

Hope you all are having a good night, I'm off to get excited about Lost, (only an hour to go)

libralady · 03/02/2008 20:21

Evening all,

Sorry for the delay in posting. I've only just come down from a real high.

WALES BEAT ENGLAND - YEAH!!!!

For the first time in 20 years at Twickenham.

Was a bit pragmatic during the first half, and jokingly said to my husband at 1/2 time (he's and Englishman), well you never know, Wales usually play better in the second half! I didn't imagine in 100 years of the complete turnaround. To be fair to England, although Wales did play a little better in the second half, basicially I don't think England really left the changing rooms.

I did have my cider although when I retrieved my can this morning, I found out I didn't actually finish it!

Spoke to my counsing this morning, and his head is throbbing and he says he feels like dying. We discussed it was a shame that our other cousin remained on the bench (he is in the Welsh team) although the original scrum half was playing a blinder.

Could do with a new pair of legs today. Spent the best part of yesterday decorating. DH had to go to work until 3.30pm so spent most of the day papering the lower half of the walls (under the dado rail) and have discovered muscles I'd forgotten I had.
Even a long soak in the bath tonight hasn't really helped much.

Hope everyone is well and looking forward to another enthralling week at work.

Just 4 more work days and then I've got a fortnight off to finish the decorating and going away for the 1/2 term week. Can't wait.

Minkus · 04/02/2008 08:20

Wow libra you've been so busy! My ds is 3.2 and I can't imagine trying to do the wall papering with him around, you must let me know your secrets! And how exciting having a cousin in the welsh squad, even more of an incentive to watch.

Like pigley and kitty the spring cleaning bug seems to have been caught here too- DS is at nursery today and I need to attack the house with a good dollop of polish and elbow grease. It seems to get so messy over the weekend when all three of us are in the house, we basically do the minimum to keep it bearable (i.e. load dishwasher and clean worksurfaces ) and so come monday morning its revolting. Its a good thing I'm off and have got the time to clean it all up otherwise we'd be living in s**t

On the pg front, I actually look pregnant now! Think that since I've started wearing mat clothes it's just gone "aaahhhhhh" with relief and popped out. V pleased. And sickness has really got a lot better so I am one very happy bunny today!

Hope you are all having good days too- and that you're feeling better cass and others who've been feeling rotten. xxx

isaidno · 04/02/2008 08:22

libralady - I am welsh, and DH english, and I was telling the dc that Wales were best, but we usually let England win. DH started scoffing, and five minutes later Wales were in the lead!

JODIEhavingababy · 04/02/2008 09:00

Morning

Well I'm glad that some of you are happy about the score on Saturday, it was carnage in our house, esp. after we did so well in the first half! Oh well, better luck next week lads.

Also glad to hear that people are starting to feel better, MINKUS, it's great when you can finally give into it!

My little bump has started wriggling like a little worm, I have felt it every night since Thursday, it's been lovely, and a bit of a shock as I didn't expect to feel it quite as much this early on...

Is anyone else on here self employed? If so do you know what the SMP rights are?

Poledra · 04/02/2008 10:15

Loved the Wales result, at the Scotland result. Libralady, I think I needed a drink more after that abysmal showing by Scotland. See, we went in as favourites - never works, we only win when we're expected to lose IYSWIM. On the subject of drinking, am still having the occasional glass of wine. My sister had her 3 children in France, and over there they say a glass a day is OK! However, am complete shandy-ar*e, and usually fall asleep after single glass so not indulging that frequently.

Minkus - you've only just started looking pregnant!! Lucky you. Being on my third, fairly swiftly what is left of my stomach muscles said 'Hold on, we remember what happens here and we're giving up now!'. Made it quite hard to keep it quiet at work till past 12 weeks.

Poledra · 04/02/2008 10:18

Sorry for the double posting - tried to rewrite to make myself clearer, but didn't manage to stop first post

JODIEhavingababy · 04/02/2008 10:48

Yeah, am so excited, got a date for my 20 weeks scan, 13th March! I will actually be 22 weeks then, but thy can't get me in before I go on holiday. I hope they can tell me what I'm having.

MissChika · 04/02/2008 10:50

Morning all!

Glad to hear some of us are feeling a little more energetic!

MrsHOP - completely understand where you're coming from re sudden burst of energy and then re-lapsing into sleep mode. Have been going swimming every Sat and Sun morning for past few weeks and by the time I get home again I need to have a snooze on the sofa for a few hours!

Congrats Tjuice on finding out you're having a girl - how exciting?!! . DP and I haven't really decided on whether or not we're going to find out at our second scan but as it's so far away (4th March) we'll probably change our minds several timees between now and then!

Went "window" shopping for buggies yesterday. There's a new bugaboo out which is just a buggie that you can use from birth but doesn't come with the carrycot that the other models do - does anyone have any experience with bugaboos?? My sister has warned me off silver cross prams as she's had a really bad experience with hers and a few people have recommended maclarens ...

MissChika · 04/02/2008 10:51

Btw, on the booze front - I have still had the odd glass of guiness (good for iron ] or wine when I can bear it but for the most part the smell of alcohol really doesn't do anything for me .

JODIEhavingababy · 04/02/2008 10:58

Morning Miss Chika.

RE Bugaboo's, my friend has got one and although they fold lovely and flat, it is so wide she really struggles to get it in most doorways. I think there is an upside and a downside to all buggies though, Are you going to the Baby Show? They usually have a great 'track' where you can 'test drive' buggies there, and you can usually pick up great bargains, well worth the price of the ticket. I got everything from there with the last one and saved a fortune, buggy, travel system, steriliser. bottles, some clothes. And they give away LOADS of free samples. It's a good day.

MissChika · 04/02/2008 11:34

Hi Jodie,

Thanks for the tip - the width of the buggie hadn't even occurred to me!! Do you know when the Baby Show is on - I guess there will be one at Earls Court at some point?

EEC · 04/02/2008 11:35

AFter a week of feeling better and thinking I was over the worst I have now gone and done my back in just getting out of the car! Can't really walk at all, or even lie straight, and it hurts when I stand... So annoyed! I've been so careful lifting things etc. DD Bday tomorrow . I hope it's a bit better by then!

Good news about lovely scan results. Can't wait for mine. 3 weeks to go. Sorry about moan.

JODIEhavingababy · 04/02/2008 11:39

Look at www.thebabyshow.co.uk

It's on at Earls Court 29th Feb - 2nd March.

EEC, sorry to here about your back, hope you have the opportunity to take it easy!

isaidno · 04/02/2008 12:37

got my triple test result today - all fine, low risk, 1 in 1800 for Down's, which is good because normal for my age is 1 in 470.

But despite that good news I am a right misery guts today; I'm tired, weepy, fed up......boo hoo, poor me...The sun is shining and I still feel crap.

MrsHOP · 04/02/2008 13:21

Hi all,

I have taken today off work, felt really exhausted and rotten this morning and whereas normally I would drag myself in, I thought if I can't take a 'duvet day' now, when can I?!

Doing lots of housework instead and trying to imagine a little one keeping me company

The Baby Show sounds like it might be the just thing to get DH's head around having a baby...I think I might go to that.

Re buggies - obviously as a first-timer I have no experience of them but a workmate has recommended the Quinny - apparently a bit cheaper than bugaboo but just as good etc. She did lots of research and then bought brand new on ebay which worked out even cheaper...

Hi MissChika, how did you get on with NCT? I hope it wasn't all booked up - I was shocked at how quickly the places go!

RUMPEL · 04/02/2008 14:25

Hi All,

PAULAPLUMPBOTTOM - you haven't posted for a while - are you okay?

FOGHORN - hope the August ladies are nice

TJUICE - I was so happy to have a girl first time Well done you. I am not bothered about the colour of this one as I soo wanted a girl and she is fab!
(most of the time)

RE Alcohol - I go right off it when pg until about 8 months - then I have very occassional galss of red. In saying that I had a few sips of Dhs Stella the other night as I felt the need for something bitter. I get that quite alot when pg - need bitter tasting things.

Hope all you ladies are well and MS is improving.

CASS - hope your back is better today - easy done what with DC and stretchy ligaments.
I am struggling to get LO in the back of my mini now - will need to start driving DHs car soon -

I am quite fainty today - although I managed to get in the garden whilst DD was sleeping - to plant some bulbs.

Beautiful sunny day here so I will take her out a walk.

I have my triple blood test tomorrow - fingers crossed all is fine. This LO is a real acrobat and has started giving me heartburn now.

I had a quick look in the Argos cat' re double buggies - am totally lost though. Will need to go try them out sometime.

PIGLEYCHEZ - I cannot believe how much you have done! We're not even going to attempt the nurssery until. at least May!

RE Weight - only 1.5lbs here (am 16 wks now) - but I was about 1 stone over my 'normal' weight before. Also this time been craving protein and not cake - thank goodness. Go off choccy when pg anyway. Also have DD to run after so that helps.
Well must go as DD is creating havoc.

Take care all

MissChika · 04/02/2008 15:09

MrsHOP - sorry to hear that you're feeling so rotten today. Hope you feel better soon. Big hugs to you and to anyone else feeling rotten too.

Waiting to hear from Alison at NCT to get back to me. The only courses left for my due date are in Brockwell Park/Herne Hill so I will be going to one of those - one Sat and one work day (although I'll already be on maternity leave by then!).

The Baby Show definitely sounds like a good idea for having a test drive of buggies. It's at the ExCel centre this year.

sweetkitty · 04/02/2008 17:30

hi all hope you are all having a good Monday

I'm feeling a bit worried today as about half an hour ago DD2 jumped on my stomach and winded me. I have been on the go all day and was upstairs changing the beds and thought I think I will have a 20 minute lie down and watch the end of Deal od No Deal so had a lie down on my bed usually I protect my tummy but had just lay down and DD2 jumped on me and it hurt. But just as I was getting over that DD1 jumped on my back then DD2 on my shoulder. My DC beat me up! Think I might phone the MW tomorrow to see if she recommends having a check up. Usually a knock wouldn't bother me too much but she really landed on me.

MWs will probably think I am a battered woman now blaming it on my 2yo DD but if they met her they would know I am telling the truth she is a wild one.

Feeling a bit miserable already today as have a cold and a headache

EEC - hope your back is better soon

Rumpel - I think I have decided on a Phil and Teds sport double buggy, it is very difficult and I got it so wrong last time, had a M&P Twin Aria and it was rubbish, rubbish at even little kerbs, cosy toes didn't fit, didn't like the harnesses or the parcel shelf and the whole thing just felt flimsy.

isaidno - good news about your test results, must be something in the weather we are all a bit miserable today.

Jodie - good news about scan date

PaulaYatesbiggestFan · 04/02/2008 21:29

,iss chika re bugaboo - i have one and it is amazing
never had a doorway issue- best pram i have had in 15 years of parenting

OP posts:
marymalone · 04/02/2008 21:47

agree with your view on the bugaboo, Paulayatesbiggestfan, its FAB and i will be very sorry to part with mine, albeit in return for a phil & teds which i am sadly excited about! never had a problem with doorways, like the fact the child sits up higher than in most other buggies and can be pushed up to a table in a restaurant (saves the highchair fight!) and overall just very smooth and light to push and easy to manouvre.

btw sorry to gatecrash ladies, i was in this thread very early on but lost my nerve and thought i'd wait til i was slightly more confident, as last pg ended in mc at 11 weeks. now 16 weeks and due mid july. so nice to scan through this thread and see we are all feeling the same things....the rush of energy follwed by complete exhaustion, the bad backs, the little wriggles and the weight gain 1.5 lbs RUMPEL?! try a good 10lbs over here!!!

PaulaYatesbiggestFan · 04/02/2008 21:50

marymalone welcome back
i am going for p and t this time too although am keeping the bugaboo
have you researched p and t at all and can i pick your brain about where to buy from?
