ScottishSusan · 20/01/2008 17:39

Hi there everyone!

Sorry to hear you've been so ill twinkle - please try and take care of yourself.

I have had an awful couple of days too and like some of you wondering WHY when things seemed to be getting better. I have been so sick and also have terrible headaches - do you think it's a computer virus? hee! hee!

Roll on the better weather and then maybe we will start to GLOW!!!

Take care all
xx

Minkus · 20/01/2008 18:45

Oh twinkle you poor love- do hope you feel better soon. Only advice from experience is to find something you can tolerate drinking and make sure you keep chugging it at regular intervals- the more dehydrated you get the more ketones you produce, and ketones make you feel sick so you get more dehydrated. It's a bit of a vicious circle. (Sorry if dr's told you that already!) Had hg with ds as well as this one, and last time it got gradually worse for me until about 20 weeks but this time it started off bad and seems to be easing off a bit now. Fingers crossed for you that your sickness will get better soon too.

Isaidno your midwives sound very enlightened, coming out for appointments at the weekend! Lucky you.

I have indulged in a few things for our baby-only a couple of small things like a yellow cellular blanket and a little knitted cotton hat. Couldn't resist them- and I was only about 6 weeks at the time! But v excited.

Been walking lots today, had a really nice family day out with ds/dh and mil. But made the mistake of sitting on the little wooden train in the playground and my pelvis gave an almighty great creak and think that the minor spd I experienced last time may be settling in a bit earlier. grrrr.

Also MIL gave ds his first ever hair cut! (Er, he was 3 at the beginning of December ) Its curly and fine and was getting a bit straggly, although it only started growing about a year ago. Kept his first curl and could have cried!

Will be having an early night tonight after all that fresh air today. [Yawn emoticon]

Night night! Hope you all sleep well this evening.
xx

Minkus · 20/01/2008 18:46

Wow sorry for monster post

Mummywannabe · 20/01/2008 20:04

Twinkle - sorry to hear you have been so poorly, glad your on the mend now though.

Beepbeep can't wait for that. Had a few flutters late at night but not often, wanna feel them all the time.

Ok stupid question alert - will baby need a newborn hat even in july? Been pondering this one, sure its a yes but not sure, feel too stupid to ask midwife!

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 20/01/2008 20:36

hello all - poor you Twinkle!

Its like a mirror of my life reading this thread today. Dreamed i was having a boy and had too keep face emotionless when the m/w stared at me!

Have also been sick and tired as anything and am allegedly 16 weeks tomorrow...odd.!

look a wreck and no sign i am pg so no public excuse to do so!
Cannot stand the constipation - am taking one senna tablet - drinking lactulose and drinking fybogel or the sennocot alternative and still very little 'action'' and i am too scared t strain

sorry if tmi...!

mcchesers · 20/01/2008 21:18

Poor Twinkle! I hope you get better soon, and all the rest of you still suffering..big hugs!

I've spent the weekend on the couch with complete exhaustion suffering still from the leftover cold that started the week before Christmas. I've been waking up sick from the congestion and throwing up bile (sorry tmi)and stayed home on Friday. I really hope this isn't a problem with my new job. I've missed two days in two months with this horrible stuff.

Managed to find a nice fiber rich cereal that seems to get things going downstairs woo!

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 20/01/2008 21:26

ooh mchesers please spill what's the cereal and is it edible?

OP posts:
mcchesers · 20/01/2008 22:36

well it's just a mix of seeds, nuts and dried fruits and granola..I put it in EVERYTHING! Yogurt, mixed in oatmeal and then I drink a half a cup of coffee and steamed milk. If it doesn't happen in the AM..it ain't happenin'. This of course after the yellow wretch after brushing my teeth.

My SIL sent me home with a great book called pregnancy sucks. She recommends laxatives, but they can be very dangerous and cause early contractions. I've just been pounding the water, crunching ice, and sleeping like a sloth.

sweetkitty · 20/01/2008 22:52

hiya still here not able to do a long post but will catch up more tomorrow, hope everyone is well

EEC · 21/01/2008 07:51

Trying not to vomit as I write but feel comforted by others' nausea and headaches - sorry for you all too of course. Poor poor you twinkle. Makes my symptoms seem awalk in the park.
Prunes do seem to help with the bowels if you can stomach them...

JODIEhavingababy · 21/01/2008 09:21

Morning, hope you all had good weekends?

Sorry to hear that some of us are still feelin unwell, I'm the same, Not feeling sick all the time now, just once in a while it springs up on me, but am so tired and still look like s**t. and at 15 weeks, shouldn't it really be getting better? Have started to use Tea Tree oil from The Body Shop on my spots and they seem to be getting better. But the bags under my eyes are still there!!!!! What happened to the Vibrant 20 something I used to be!! I haven't shaved my legs since new year, It's a protest coz I haven't been out since then!!

Was thinking how quickly time is going, it only seems a second ago we were all looking forward to out first scans, and now we are all starting to get the dates through for our anomaly (sp) ones!!! It'll be July before you know it!

JODIEhavingababy · 21/01/2008 09:22

Long post sorry, got really carried away then! and I forgot to send big hugs to Twinkle. Hope your feeling better xx

isaidno · 21/01/2008 09:23

My mum always swore by a hot banana to get things moving; preferably with melted choc! Luckily my constipation is not too bad, as long as I eat the veg, and have muesli for breakfast.

Hope you're feeling better now Twinkle, and everyone else still puking!

Nothing to report here; going to a nappuccino morning today to research real nappies.

sweetkitty · 21/01/2008 09:40

Morninag everyone from a very wet Scotland. Well have new car it's lovely to drive well apart from parking and reversing which I am kind of staying away from right now lol. First antenatal appointment is on Wednesday wow I get to see a midwife at last. DP is off Wednesday to Monday using up holiday from last year and it is also DD2's 2nd birthday on Saturday (my baby is 2 OMG!) Felt little pumpkin move last night so think all is well with her/him as well.

mcchesers - poor you hope you are feeling a bit better today. Dried apricots always gets me going if I need to but generally I have never had a problem in that area, being a veggie I probably eat quite a bit of fibre. If anything I'm always a bit the other way IYSWIM.

PaulaYates - for you as well hope you are feeling better soon too x

Mummywannabee - at your flutters don't worry soon they will be hard kicks. As for a hat for a newborn I would buy one maybe two little newborn hats. The MWs like to put one on as soon as they are born as they lose so much heat from their heads. (Those hospitals are so warm though) but after that you may want one if you are out in a cool evening when they are v little. In saying that though DD1 was born in London in July and I think spent her first month in a vest it was that hot.

Scottishsusan - get well vibes for you too wow we are a sickly bunch.

Twinkle - poor you hope you managed to get some rest over the weekend I know it's not easy with other LOs running about.

isaidno - great news about the heartbeat I don't think I ever tire of hearing it.

beepbeep - you could be further on what did your dating scan say. I'm 3 days further on from my scan than my LMP but they stick with LMP even though it's based on a 28 day cycle and few people have one. Strange as well as I know I ovulate on CD15 too. These babies don't play by the book though.

min 912 - I think we are getting a P&T too when I persuade DP of course) go go go for a bedside cot. Mine was that expensive can't remember where we got it from but it's a Cosatto one think it was only about £120 and that included the mattress. We did need a second cot as DD1 was only 18 months and still in hers.

EEc - hope you are feeling better too another one who's ill (when will we start to bloom ladies)?

Foggie - about finding out the sex. I feel drawn to blue clothes too but think thats just cos I have overdosed on pink the last few years.

Right sorry if I have missed anyone better go marathon post DD2 is getting restless.

sweetkitty · 21/01/2008 09:41

hi Jodie - might have to go get some Body Shop tea tree oil fed up of looking like a spotty teenager (minus the wrinkles of course)

JODIEhavingababy · 21/01/2008 11:50

Can I just say I can see why this day is officially the most depressing day of the year! I have no money, The weather is so miserable, I can't get motivated to work (the pit falls of working from home!) And to top it all off, the 'Experts' now say I can't drink tea!!!! Rubbish!

MissChika · 21/01/2008 13:25

Hi ladies,

Hope you all had good weekends and the fog of nausea and knackered-ness is starting to lift for everybody. Big hugs to those stull suffering

Welcome to CarrieHD9.

JODIE I hate those scare stories about what you can and can't eat/drink. My sister sent me a text at 8 this morning to tell me to stop drinking caffeine!

MrsHOP know exactly what you mean - went to a wedding on Sat and it was so weird watching everyone get completely pi55ed! If you want to meet for a coffee or a chat any time let me know. The friends that I do have with kids all live outside of London so I'm pretty much the only one out of my group of friends too.

Mummywannabe · 21/01/2008 13:36

Thank sweetkitty thats what i thought.

Jodie and Misschicka, my dad called me this morning at 9 to warn about caffine. Already limiting it but don't think i will get too worried, you would never eat/drink again!

EEC · 21/01/2008 13:40

As with everything else it seems that the first 12 weeks are supposedly the worst for caffeine, so we shouldn't worry too much about it! It would be hard to give up my morning cup of tea in bed! To be honest, I've gone off coffee anyway.

Oh no! We don't have to give up chocolate do we? (says shee tucking into a cocolate biscuit) And Chocolate milk is my favourite way of getting calcium...

sweetkitty · 21/01/2008 14:52

No tea now

I only have one cup a day and I am not giving it up, don't drink coffee anyway and there is absolutely no way I am giving up chocolater!

Mummywannabee - I found that a lot of newborn outfits come with matching hat even the summer ones, you will end up having about 6.

MissChika · 21/01/2008 14:56

Chocolate is definitely good for the baby - nobody is going to tell me otherwise! ;)

Have just re-discovered chocolate milk myself EEC!

icklegem · 21/01/2008 15:05

Hello ladies, you probably don't remember me but did join and sadly had to leave.

Have been keeping an eye on you all and glad to hear so much good news, and twins, wow!!

sweetkitty · 21/01/2008 15:21

icklegem - I remember you, so sorry you are having to leave us I have had to leave an antenatal thread and know it hurts so much when you see it steaming on and your not a part of it anymore but great news on your BFP heres to happy and uneventful pregnancy for you x

Soph73 · 21/01/2008 15:34
