sweetkitty · 21/01/2008 15:42

Soph73 · 21/01/2008 15:56

Yep am doing really well thanks, even though I now look like a barrage balloon Take care.

EEC · 21/01/2008 16:06

Hi there icklegem - really pleased for you. Lots of fingers crossed for this one...

isaidno · 21/01/2008 17:41

great news icklegem xx

libralady · 21/01/2008 17:59

Great news icklegem.
Well went to see my MW today for a routine appt and heard the heartbeat! Babba even had a kick for good measure against the sonagram doppler thingy.
MW quite happy especially as I've lost another 1/2 stone (MS does have it's compensations!)
Questioned about the Group B Strep thingy as I saw on a thread (can't remember which one) about someone's niece who died from it hours/days after birth and the fact that the NHS don't test pregnant women for it generally (apparently it costs about £35) despite so many people being carriers.
My MW said you know me T, i'm flexible, she gave me a leaflet all about it and has marked it on my notes for me to have a swab for reassurance at about 36 weeks.
I am so chuffed as yiu hear such horror stories and I'd never heard of this Group Strep B before not even when I had DS. Apparently it was a big storyline in Corrie about 7 years ago so my MW said.
Just to put your minds at reat, it is very very very rare for a newborn to die from it. Just thought I'd query it with my MW as I'd seen it on the thread iykwim.
Feel lousy tonight as I've got DS's cold. I've managed to stay clear from colds and flu bugs etc since last winter or maybe even before that. It's been so long I can't remember! Normally colds don't bother me but this is a real ENT one. Have to breathe through my mouth and I've got so much Vicks on my top lip its unreal.
At least DS is styaing at Nanna's tonight. A bit of peace and quiet and DH is off the cricket practise. Early night for me then me thinks!

libralady · 21/01/2008 18:00

God my spelling is crap!
Cold must be getting to my fingers too!

twinkle1 · 22/01/2008 08:21

Icklegem,
I remember you big congrats on your BFP!!!! hope all go's well
twinkle

FrannyandZooey · 22/01/2008 08:54

Hello everyone, I also saw MW yesterday and heard a heartbeat. She now doesn't need to see me again until 28 weeks! I think I would have found this very hard if I was first time mum (but she did say I could call in if I needed to).

Happy for you icklegem

beepbeep · 22/01/2008 09:30

Hi all, good news icklegem, hope all goes well.

Sorry to hear you've been poorly twinkle.

Have now got conjuncivitus (sp?), been ill for all of the 17 wks been pregnant so doc signed me off for 2 wks to try and get some rest and build my immune system up - nice!!!! DP just headed off to work, DD in tow to drop off at nursery on way, still in my dressing gown and don't intend to do much! Tho i'm not sure i'll get through the day without a bit of a clean, having a dog and a 14 month old i can't believe how messy this house gets!

Not too worried about the caffeine thing (was aware of it last time round), tea or coffee still makes me feel sick, made a tea this morning, had a sip, then a retch and gave it to DH - he thought i'd been really sweet and made him a cuppa!! Couldn't been without my chocolate milk though, loads of calcium and hardly any, if any caffeine - helps me sleep on a night.

FoghornLeghorn · 22/01/2008 10:04

Anyone been thinking of any names ?

twinkle1 · 22/01/2008 10:11

yeah, had a think of names if its 2 girls we like emma & sophie if its boys Thomas & Ben. The kids like barbie and ewan!!!!! errr think not
twinkle

FoghornLeghorn · 22/01/2008 10:13

Lol @ Barbie & Ewan.

Nice names Twinkle

sweetkitty · 22/01/2008 12:07

According to DD1 we are having a girl called Rosie (she will not accept it may be a boy), I have to feed it milk from my boobies and she and Daddy are to play with it, DD2 and I are not allowed to play with it!

Twinkle - I think you should have themed names what about Dolce and Gabbana? Charlie and Lola? Max and Ruby?

Honestly we don't have a clue about name there isn't one DP and I can agree on Maybe we will end up with Rosie)

FoghornLeghorn · 22/01/2008 12:10

This is another good thing about us finding out the sex SK - DD1 is adamant she is going to be getting a brother, when I say to her and what if it's a girl baby she gives me this look and says "I told you mum, it's a boy baby, I've already got a sister"

Am liking the themed names for you too Twinkle

EEC · 22/01/2008 12:19

It's hard enough choosing names when just 2 of you need to decide. Now DS and DD are older they think they should have a say too! Settling on a name that we all like will be impossible! They hate the names we've thought of so far.

Feelling wriggles today. Lovely. Just about makes up for the nausea.

isaidno · 22/01/2008 12:26

haven't thought of any names here - will start after the 20 week scan.
I'm not going to ask the dc for advice - they will prob want diego, or dora, or wubbzy....

Twinkle - themed names are def way to go! How about Tom and Jerry, or Terry and June? or name them after some famous twins - Mary-Kate and Ashley? Monica and Gabriela?

sweetkitty · 22/01/2008 12:33

foghorn - boys are yuck in this house well apart from Daddy, my two actually argue and insult each other by calling each other a boy. DD2 will say to DD1 "DD1 you a boy" DD1 will burst out crying and shout "I am not a boy I don't have a winky!" Can you imagine driving along listening to this? DD1 is adamant that this baby is not a boy. Maybe our DD1's have a sixth sense???????

Everyone keeps asking me if I have a feeling either way and I honestly don't know this time, last twice I have known they are girls without a doubt, this pregnancy feels the exact same so another girl????

We should have a wee stake, what we think then what we get?

FrannyandZooey · 22/01/2008 13:35

ds says we need to call the baby Angel Wings, or Butterfly Wings. Dp said "or how about Bird wings?" Ds guffawed and said "don't be ridiculous daddy, imagine calling a baby Bird wings, ahahahahahahaha"

FoghornLeghorn · 22/01/2008 13:38

Don't mention Wubbzy - DD1 got a rocking horse for Xmas and she's called it Wow Wow Wubbzy, a teddy is called Walden and another called Widget !!

twinkle1 · 22/01/2008 13:51

Had to laugh at theme names, as the nick names we use for the babys are Ben & Jerry not sure i could use them names now without hinking of phish food or chunky monekey mmmmmm
twinkle

MissChika · 22/01/2008 14:18

Love all the talk of names esp barbie & ewan and Angel/Butterfly wings. LOL!

Question re MW appointments - I got told at my booking in appointment to make another appointment with the MW at my doctors surgery for first week of Feb (I'll be 19 weeks by then) but the doctors surgery said they don't normally do appointments until after 24 weeks. Is this normal? It seems like a really long time between 12 weeks and 24 to not see the MW.

Minkus · 22/01/2008 14:42

MissChika that does sound a long time, esp as its your first baby and they normally cosett you like crazy! Double check with your midwife maybe?

Loving the names too, Ben & Jerry is ace

DS wants to name the baby after himself, refuses to entertain the idea that it might not even be a boy. He can't understand why we wouldn't want another son exactly the same as him, bless him.

I have no idea whether this one is blue or pink, was quite "sure" with ds that he was a boy and thought this one might be cos pregnancy quite similar so far but no strong feeling either way. How exciting!

Hows the sickness twinkle/scottishsusan/sweetkitty?

MissChika · 22/01/2008 14:48

Thanks Minkus , I'll double check. I did think it seemed like a long time.

isaidno · 22/01/2008 14:52

MissChika - my plan of care (which does differ by health authority) has a mw appointment at 15 weeks, but this is only if you want to have the triple test, because that's when they take the bloods.
Then at 20 weeks I will see a midwife (not my community mw) at the hospital after the scan.
Do not see my mw until 22 weeks, then 28 weeks, 31 weeks, 34 weeks, and 36 weeks. Gp is scheduled in at 38 weeks, then mw again at 41 weeks.

I know your health authority will differ, but thought this would give you a guideline.

RUMPEL · 22/01/2008 14:55

Hi All,

Just popped in to say hello.

ICKLEGEM - remember you too and so glad to hear your good news - sending you sticky vibes.xxxx

TWINKLE - hope you are feeling better.xx

MCCHEESERS - how about a smoothie every day? I don't get constipated - I go the other way and need to make sure whever I go has toilets close by 'cos I can never walk as fast when pg as I get faint and breathless!

CAFFEINE - I always go off tea, coffee and chocolate when pg. In fact I have only just started to have weak, milky tea with sugar the last few days to try to settle me tum

I am up in the Highlands at me parents as my Dad had his cataract op last week. And my baby daughter wakled for the very first time on Wednesday it brought a tear to my eye and was so nice for my Mum, Dad and Grandma to be there to see it. Her poor Daddy needs to wait until we get home tomorrow before he can puff up his chest.

Got my dates for this semester for Uni - am soo unmotivated and fed up of it now . Still only 2 units to go and I will be finished - whoopee!!

Am finding myself really mega tired at the moment and the past few days my boobs have exploded as has my tum! I need to get home as I only have 1 bra that fits and it is beginning to dig into my ribs and cause heartburn. And my tum feels really tight and uncomfy already - didn't have that until much later with DD. Cooking LO is a fair wriggler and I am sure I am baking a blue this time

We have chosen Calvin for a boy and Poppy for a girl.

Hope all you ladies are keeping well and the general aches, pains and feeling crap will lift for us all soon. I thought I had escaped the spots this time around but they have appeared on my forehead instead!

xxxxx
