Can't quite believe it. Got a very very faint BFP today. Been ttc no2 for ages now.

Don't want to say too much until I have told RL but reckon I am due around about 8th Sept or so.

Great news Gracie, that must be a weight off your mind for now.

Sore nips kicking in today. Not a lot of fun when a toddler latches on to them

HOORAY FOR Gracie - I'm so proud of you!! Well done and congratulations on a healthy, if a bit achy pregnancy!! I bet I'm even more pleased than you are! Stupid doctor who gave you no confidence can rack off because you're FINE!! Woo-hoo!!!

I've just got all the symptoms today and I'm not amused - I was sicky this morning with some sicky burps. They're particularly nasty, aren't they? - it was an evil banana that did it. I stopped having muesli for breakfast and switched to toast with some margarine as I remembered that my doctor used to say that's what I should eat if I felt sick when I was little and it worked! Nasty evil banana undid all my good work - I'll be eating those later in the day from now on.

I've also been quite angry and oh boy, are my boobs sore! And they're huge by the way - it won't be long until I've grown out of my biggest bras and then I'm going to be really upset. Mostly, they don't hurt too much, but someone at work gave me a hug to wish me Happy New Year and I wanted to shout "OW! You hurt me!" but I had to pretend it was fine. At least it's better than a toddler!

meglet · 07/01/2008 19:20

I am so relieved everything is ok Gracie . Wow, a heartbeat at nearly 6 weeks is great.

I'm 5+6 today. Desperately want to feel really pregnant and know it's ok, but only feel a tiny bit of nausea every now and then. Boobs have calmed down now, still plump though. Got midwife apt at 10 weeks at the start of February.

However I am craving fat Coke and olives (not together!), which I did with my first pregnancy so maybe everything is ok .

Biglips · 07/01/2008 21:51

hooray Gracie im sooo happy now and Yeh a heartbeat!!

well 2nite i had a glass of diluted orange juice that literally knocked me as i felt really sick without being sick!

Sassafrass · 07/01/2008 22:40

I've gone and bought myself a heartrate monitor off ebay . I never got one when expecting dd1 and I know it's too early yet to get the heartbeat, but somehow just buying it made it seem a bit more real =)

I've also been drooling over carriers as last time I only discovered the joys of wraps to carry my dd in when she was 5 months old. This time around I'm getting a moby wrap to use from the very start. I just can't wait to have a little snuggly newborn cuddled up with me again.

My dh, has excitedly told dd1 (almost 3) that there's a baby in mummy's tummy and she is asking a lot about it. After a long chat she said she didnt want a baby, she'd be my baby instead and crawled up under my jumper. Was very sweet.

Must admit am shocked as was not expecting this. Have drunk loads over Xmas as didn't even suspect until this week so hope all is OK. Both DP and I have mixed feelings as not the best time for us financially, but in terms of DS and our family life we both really wanted another child so really trying to be upbeat about it. Have taken a few days off work to try and get over the shock!

In terms of symptoms, boobs are slightly sore, but supersensitive at best of times so not that noticeable. I guess I should have realised something though as getting loads of cramps, have been weeing constantly and sense of smell has gone crackers (which was my first main symptom last time round).

Anyway, congrats to you all. Oh and one big tip from last time round - Bodyshop Coco Butter Oil Stick. Me, my friend and my friend's cousin have all used it and none of us have stretch marks!

hopefully · 08/01/2008 11:56

Congratulations Sunshinemummy! I too am expecting a pickled child after too much christmas drinking, but I'm sure it'll all be fine! I just keep clinging onto the no shared blood supply for 6 weeks theory.

Yuck, I have to go and queue in the post office for a million years. online shopping is great, but it has its drawbacks!

oh, have just updated the list as didn't put my age on...

kirstygem · 08/01/2008 12:17

Gracie great news from the doctor yesterday. Must be great to actually hear heart beat and know everything is ok.

Sunshinemummy · 08/01/2008 12:44

Yes no shared blood supply, must remember that. Also feeling guilty about no folic acid until yesterday! Again hopefully all OK.

Very disconcerted to see I am the oldest on here by some distance.

ALLwillBeRevealed · 08/01/2008 14:01

Sunshinemummy - I haven't put my age on the list as trying to be in disguise because I know quite a few MNers, but you are only a hairs breadth ahead of me in age.

Still not much by way of symptoms here, starting to wonder if it's true after all. I will not test again, I will not test again.....

Is anyone else feeling ridicously hot today? I am totally boiling and have all the windows open.
Am also convinced I have a noticeable tummy already!! DH keeps saying maybe there are 2 in there but as we have twins on both sides of the family I am not finding this very amusing!!

I havent had many symptoms except extreme tiredness, esp in the first week when I dropped off to sleep a few times over a few days on the sofa with the kids playing around me.... now just tired and a bit nauseaous occasionally if i havent eaten. been surprised that my boobs havent hurt as they usually do.

I am still getting used to the idea, have done some shopping for roomier shirts - giving up the battle to fit into the almost too tight ones ;) I have always felt that my tummy grows way too soon, and I have always been huge...

Looking forward to painless easy 9 months.

hopefully · 08/01/2008 14:45

I totally already have a noticible tummy. Someone once said to me that your stomach muscles lose the ability to contract as effectively almost immediately, so i'm wondering if it's something like that? My tummy definitely doesn't hold as flat as it did 3 weeks ago. not that it was terirbly flat then... Luckily there are no twins in my family so I'm probably safe there!

I am such a geek. i actually bought a maternity item or two the other day. in my defence they were reduced in the sale and it seemed sensible to buy while they're cheap. I want to wear them now and leap around and tell everyone! although they might fall off, embarrassing me horribly.

I have absolutely no symptons at all in any way today. boobs are pretty much fine, no sickness, no tiredness. Was it all a dream? Has anyone given into the urge to test repeatedly? I may have to get some more on the way home to satisfy my craving!

kathryn77 · 08/01/2008 14:56

I want to wear maternuty stuff too.. but am resisting.. feel fat already. have a continuous sick feeling and all i want to eat is toast!

Sunshinemummy · 08/01/2008 15:11

Oh the tiredness yes. DP has been cross with me over Christmas because I kept falling asleep/going to bed early when we had guests round. Now we know why. I was horrendously tired first trimester first time round - couldhardly stay awake for longer than a couple of hours at a time.

Gosh AWBR do you think I should have been incognito?

ALLwillBeRevealed · 08/01/2008 16:18

Entirely up to you sunshinemummy! I just don't want all of MN knowing my news before my family Oh dear, that makes me sound like I am famous on mumsnet, which of course I'm not!

OP posts:
Excitable · 08/01/2008 17:36

AWBR I'm terribly curious about who you are, but you stay incognito as long as you like - I'll survive it!

Welcome to newbies.

Kathryn In't toast BRILLIANT!! I mean it's just fantastic stuff. I had toast for breakfast this morning and hardly felt sick at all. Jacket potatoes with cheese and beans rock too, but other things I have to talk myself into eating. I usually like really spicy food, but I'm not sure if I can handle it right now. Has anyone else got an increased sense of taste as well as smell?

I was almost sick on the way to buy my jacket potato this lunchtime. Need to think of things to tell DH to stop him being the food police. He's convinced that I'm going to be huge by the end of this pregnancy and he does NOT like change. But honestly, if I have a piece of toast before I go to bed, I can see him worrying. I've told him I do need to eat a few more calories and that I've given up a lot of my calorie intake by giving up booze, but he's just not buying it!

Who was it who was writing a letter to get their hours reduced in the office? Have you handed it in yet?

Excitable · 08/01/2008 17:37

Oh by the way - my belly is also huge.

hopefully · 08/01/2008 20:20

It's me excitable, thanks for checking on me! Haven't written my application to work from home yet as I'm waiting till after my deadline on thurs so I have the time to look into it properly and make sure I hand in a perfect application so they have to let me.

I am very sad about my lack of symptoms today. I am so paranoid about something going wrong and symptoms suddenly stopping does not improve it. Never thought I would find myself wanting to feel sick, tired and sore boobed! Maybe I'll be lucky enough to feel rough tomorrow.

Mmm yummy food for dinner cooked by dp. he is such a good wife.

ALLwillBeRevealed · 08/01/2008 21:21

LOL hopefully. I'll be redirecting you to that post when you start moaning about feeling sick

We were going to hang on telling anyone until the 12 week scan like we did with ds, but I have decided that I can't be arsed keeping track of the web of lies that I might have to spin, so we have just told our families the news.

So, I will be revealing myself shortly. Hooray, all this logging in and out and name changing was a PITA

OP posts:
mustsleep · 09/01/2008 09:33

can i join please got a bfp yesterday (the after i was due to come on!!!), so i think i am about 4 weeks!!!!!

which would make me ue in sept!!

can i ask does anyone know when you are supposed to go to the docs when you find out or do you just book yourself in with the midwife?

Gracie14 · 09/01/2008 09:48

Morning all,

Thanks for all your thoughts, it's started to feel more real now. The nauesa is constant throughout the day and seems to get worse in the night so not sleeping well. Has anyone tried the 'ginger' thing and been successful and do you know if that is ginger anything?

This has proberbly been covered but are you all still having sex? We haven't since I found out and starting to think that DP will be leaving me for someone else, had a vivid dream a couple of nights ago that he chucked me out the house and moved his ex girlfriend in!! Its made me really insecure and its only a dream keep asking if he still loves me

Congrats to newbies

Gracie14 · 09/01/2008 09:51

Congrats mustsleep

The doctor has just told me to book straight in with the midwife at about 6-7 weeks, but it differs with every doctor. So it might be worth getting an appointment in the next couple of weeks and then at least your in the system

mustsleep · 09/01/2008 09:57

cheers

well when i had ds(6) i think i ws registered with the midwife as soon as i found out and she came to my house to fill in the form thing

when i had dd(2) they put your name on this list and said that the midwife wouldn;t contact you until you were over 12 weeks (strange i thought) but that;s what happened

so i will do as you say and make myself an appt in a couple of week to see the doc and see what he/she says they are doing now
