OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ronnielane · 24/01/2008 10:58

Hello All you mums to be, I am new to this website I was given it by a friend who is trying to stop me from going insane I have been on maternity leave for a few weeks now and now only have a few days left till my due date 28/01/07. Its seems that everyone is very close knit on this thread and hope its ok to gatecrash and get to know everyone. I have become very impatient waiting for little one to arrive tried alot of the how to bring on labour suggestions with no success. I am going to try fresh pineapple because I love it. congratulations to those of you who have had your babies I am very
xx

betterhalf · 24/01/2008 11:04

Well, due date for me today and absolutely nothing happening! Have had dull period pain type of stuff for a day or so now but nothing else. Grrrrr.

Bluebell... how amazing. I hope my birth experience is as fab as yours. Can't wait for details.

Ronnielane, good to have you on board. To everyone else still waiting, I know just how you're feeling.

madmouse · 24/01/2008 11:08

Hi Ronnielane, welcome, there is no such thing as gatecrashing here, this thread is for everyone due this month! In fact we have had quite a few newbies recently, and lots of the old stallwarts are having fun on the postnatal thread . Have a nosy there too, lots of great stories.

scaryhairycat · 24/01/2008 11:12

Hi ronnielane! Of course it's ok to join in - you are not gatecrashing!
My due date is the same as yours, I, (in fact I think we all) know how boring and frustrating these last few weeks are! If you are not sure what any of the intitials that we use stand for there is an acronym list under 'useful stuff' at the top of the page that tells you them all.xx

ronnielane · 24/01/2008 11:16

Thanks mad mouse and betterhalf feel like part of the family already ha ha. Have been having a nose around at other stories and am very glad I have joined now its nice to be able to talk to other mums to be rather than bore all my friends and family talking baby stuff and my frustrations all the time. A question for those of you who have been through childbirth before or those who would know the answer. I have been told by a relative that when I go into labour that I would have to take my tongue bar out is this the case? also TMI I know but what if you have any other piercings like in the lower part? it would make sense to have to take it out but would you have to?

ronnielane · 24/01/2008 11:18

Thanks scairyhairycat I defo will find them useful, I was getting confused. Have you had any twinges at all? is this your first?

scaryhairycat · 24/01/2008 11:33

This is my second ronnielane, I have a ds who is 8 and a half. no twinges at all at the moment. (note sense of annoyance building up there!) Felt a lot of 'lead up' with my first, loads of bh, period like pains, backache and a show - but this time, nothing! I have a nasty feeling this one is going to be overdue! What about you? Have you felt anything, any signs?
Do you know what you are having yet? I have been told mine's a girl, (really chuffed about that!)

ladylush · 24/01/2008 11:34

Glad you see it that way scaryhairycat My best friend had an induction so I was fully aware of what to expect and felt all the better for it. All the best for your birth and hope it is as lovely a birth as bluebell's

scaryhairycat · 24/01/2008 11:44

ladylush!

scaryhairycat · 24/01/2008 11:53

Shock and horror - I think the sun is actually coming out at my end! This means I may have to leave the house rather than spend all day on mn!Damn!

Cazzybaby · 24/01/2008 12:03

Hi Everyone

I used to post on this thread many months back, thought I'd come and say hi again looking for some support through the next few days as I am also playing the great waiting game

I was due on tuesday had a sweep thought things where happening but its all died down since.

Amazing to hear of all the little ones that have been born already, and the great birth stories!

I am so excited and have a kind of bring it on attitude towards labour at the moment, only thing missing is the contractions

How is everyone bearing up today??

lots of love and labour vibes cazzy xx

ronnielane · 24/01/2008 12:18

I seriously do not know what to look out for as it is my first baby, but I am sure that I will know when it happens, I have had a back ache for about a week tho and I do get these at the time that I am due on. No twinges tut. even tried a vinderloo last night but seemed to give baby hiccups and thats it. I am having a boy we have decided on the name Ethan, I am happy bout having a boy but there seems to be more choice and pretty stuff for girls, and I am a pink person too. will have to change from pink to baby blue as a favorite colour for now.

Cazzybaby · 24/01/2008 12:45

Hi Ronnielane - I'm a first timer aswell I keep noticing twinges and thinking is this it?? As really dont know what to expect!

Also love the name Ethan

AngeChica · 24/01/2008 13:19

Well am now 10 days over today! Nice to hear from you again cazzybaby and hi ronnielane. If I were you I'd take the piercings out... I assume it might make a target for tearing ...?

I took my navel ring out quite early on - my navel has stretched soooo much just in the last few weeks. I thought I was going to get away with no stretchmarks either but a few have now appeared , cos I'm getting so big and overcooked I think!! I'm not unduly concerned about weight and stuff but I have now put on about 3st, all in all.

PS Just a reminder that there is about a dozen of us on Facebook, the only real benefit over this thread is that you can see each others' lovely baby photos easier. You can find the group "Mumsnetters due January 2008" quite easily i think.

MrsBiscuit · 24/01/2008 13:29

Afternoon all who are left.

I'm bored. Fed up with pineapple, bouncing on my ball and watching daytime tv. Even the postman has started ringing the doorbell daily to see if I've popped yet .

Welcome Ronnielane. It's nice to have another person to moan to .

Sun shining here too Scarycat so I think I'll walk to the petrol station to get a newspaper (and maybe a little chocolate treat too ).

ayrshirelolo · 24/01/2008 14:07

Afternoon all! Congratulations Bluebell!!! let us know the full details soon but really happy it went so smoothly for you!
Welcome Ronnielane, as they've all said no such thing as gatecrashing, nice to have you join us for the frustrating moany bit at the end and hi Cazzybaby, good to have you back!
Well the idea with the tights, and the good sheets didn't work, but had one of those nights where everything a bit sore - cramp in the leg, sore hips, sore boobs, all that! so took two paracetomol and was drinking tea at 2am.... so much for the good night's sleep!! Oh well, going for a nap this afternoon once dd looks sleepy, took her for a long walk this morning in our local shopping centre (snowing here today and blowing a bloody gale!) have also fed her a big lunch and hope she'll snooze for a reasonable length of time this afternoon, i could do with the kip!
Anyway going to have a Balti for dinner with extra green chillis, but i have a pretty high tolerance of curry so not sure it will work!
MrsMcJ hope the consultant appointment goes well, i'll pop back later to see if you've any news.
Sympathy with Scarycat and MrsB, i'm actually quite bored too! Lovely to spend time with dd, but i'm too massive and tired to roll about the floor with her or take her to the park much, and i've not got my usual patience, so feel like a crap mum just now!
Ronnielane not sure about the piercings thing, how approachable is your midwife? I got to a certain point in labour last time when we had to go to op theatre and i had to take off my rings, earings etc and they were worried about the nail varnish on my toes so you might be safer to take everything out now? (assuming you can still see where everything is!)
Anyway, dd yawned so gonna stick her in her cot for a while and go for a kip! will check in later. lolo x

ronnielane · 24/01/2008 14:40

Yeah Think I will take out the piercing, actually might get DH too as I cant actually see anymore, ahh its been so long I was going to report it missing lol. Know how you feel ayrshirelolo I get the pains in my hips, get comfy for a couple of hours then having to turn (not so gently) onto the other side for a while tut, and regarding curry I had a vinderloo last night, and nothing hope it works for you but I have had spicy food throughout my pregnancy its actually been like a craving for me.

Cazzybaby We went through lots of names before settling on that one, I think its unusal enough but not too unusual if you know what I mean, dont want him to be bullied at school.
I also think being at home I sit here thinking too much about things and concentrating on making a twinge happen lol. I am so silly I said to my mum that I am scared I will be sitting at home having contractions and just think I am being silly thinking its wind or something and then be too late to call DH lol. My mum said erm no dear I dont think so you will know, I reakon I am hard with a brilliant pain threshold well I am hoping.
Thanks for all the warm welcomes youhave given me xx

Naetha · 24/01/2008 14:57

Lots of positive vibes to those of you still here! Congratulations Bluebell (need photos!!) and welcome Ronnielane

As for piercings - I'd take any out that could physically interfere with the birth, but I left my labret stud in for my labour and it was fine. It would have only been a problem if I'd needed a general anaesthetic, but then piercings would have been the least of my worries!!

Ben's just fallen asleep in my arms, so going to make the most of his sleepy time and get some washing done...also need to clean his changing mat after an exploding poo episode earlier on - bet you're all looking forwards to your babies

lilyloo · 24/01/2008 15:10

Hi ladies just quickly popping back to see how you are all doing ?
Sending lot's of labour vibes to you all. Can't believe Martha is nearly a week old now it's just clouded by feeding, pooing and not sleeping.
Take care all and will try and catch up with any more birth announcements

katyt1 · 24/01/2008 16:10

hi waiting ladies, glad i'm not still with you

will try and post birth story in birth announcements soon.

knackered, sore and still trying to adjust to having had a c-s. ds1 is being brilliant really tho i am finding it so hard not being able to look after him at all.

ds2 (weird saying that!) is feeding beautifully and sleeping here and there. had MIL for a few days to help- best take back everything negative i ever said about her!! - but she's gone home today.
dh still about tho and we are arranging 'cover' for the next 6 weeks to help with ds1 as i can't pick him up or drive, etc.

still keeping up with all of you, labour vibes to you all.......

scaryhairycat · 24/01/2008 17:06

Just been for a lovely walk to the park with my ds, my friend and her 2 dc. Makes such a nice change to get some exercise and fresh air. Good luck with the balti, ayrshirelolo! I am craving it too ronnielane, quite frustrated as we have pasta that needs eating tonight and I have no energy left to cook a curry instead! Take care Katy1 - hope you feel better soon and look forward to hearing your birth story shortly.xx

pussycatmomma · 24/01/2008 17:21

hi all..........
Well t'is officially my due date today. Started off with great feelings about the day, but after a whole day of nothingness, and more importantly, no baby I am feeling more than a little despondant.
I just keep thinking, but its today!!! Todays the day!! If it doesnt happen today that means i will be overdue, and overdue could mean......eeeeeeeeeek......induction and all sorts of unpleasantness .
Im now on my 3rd pineapple in as many days. Bounced on my ball till Im fed up of bouncing on the bloody ball. Acupuncture midwife had a feel yesterday and said head felt "quite free" Regular midwife coming tomorrow and im sure she will have a good feel too. Last week it was 4/5 engaged, dh not being supportive by saying "perhaps you've bounced it out of starting to engage by being sat on that bloody ball!"
oooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!
I am feeling somewhat vexed!
Am v. envious of all the lovely babies and inspiring birth stories on here.
Welcome to Ronnielane, no strangers here hun! Hello again to Cazzybabs and Angechica (for some reason i thought you had had your babe already! preg hed again, sorry! )
mrsmac, am also fielding phone calls by the dozen - gets annoying after a few doesnt it!
madmouse - you cant be having contractions - didnt you know its me first!! Now just go back to the counter and get another ticket, and this time, listen for your number and stay in line please!!
love to all
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Cazzybaby · 24/01/2008 19:18

Good evening all

How is everyone getting on?? Thanks for the welcome backs! I still have no baby no twinges nothing grrrrrr. I am going to have serious words with her about time keeping when she arrives

ayrshirelolo · 24/01/2008 22:16

Hiya guys, was just popping back to see if any news, sounded earlier like Madmouse was getting the odd twinge... you ok friend? any news?
Also wondered if Mrsmcj was ok after consultant..... hope everything all right!
Apart from that lol at your dh, pussycat... mine's just said "any twinges?" for about the 4th time today.... GGgggggrrrrr!! does he think i'm gonna give birth without telling him??
And then he asked.. "are you bouncing too high on that ball?" what sort of a question is that? How should i know anyway? anyway, enough winging, thanks for popping back Lilyloo, Katy, Naetha... nice to know you haven't forgotten about us all! Away to go and drink more bloody raspberry leaf tea... balti was lovely, but nothing to report! and all thai green curry did on Tuesday was give me heartburn!!! more pineapple, anyone?? lolo x

Naetha · 24/01/2008 22:46

Oh was going to say as well - walking walking walking!! It was a long (quite strenuous) walk that I'm pretty sure triggered my labour, and walking really helps to get the cervix ready for birth
