Hello!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
madmouse · 19/01/2008 19:45

Lilyloo I am so pleased to hear you still had a natural birth! Welcome to Martha, she is titchy! Are they still sure she was overdue? . Oh well, not as if it matters now. Congratulations!!

nicky6 · 19/01/2008 19:56

congrats to the new little babies with such lovely names.

As for the castor oil - thats how i arrived according to my mum - i was a bit overdue and looking to be a christmas day baby so she drnk a bottle of the stuff which sent her bowels a bit wild and thats what made me begin to come out of the warm and into the cold the week before christmas.

nearly 39 weeks here and would love another week just to get sorted out. Dh on paternity leave although he has some work to do from home. so hoping to spend some nice time together before the lo arrives.

had my mum up yesterday and today and me her and dh stayed up chatting til 2am so we all had a bit of a lie in today although was really nice last night.

Baby very wriggly also getting quite a lot of pain in the fanjo area feels like stabbing so i reckon its trying to head but its way out.

I know its a bit late in the day - but still cant imagine having a baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PinkElephant · 19/01/2008 20:10

Oh what lovely news about all the baby's being born.

I'm now 41wks aaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!

Hi madmouse - yes I was the one who posted about the strange popping noise which started last saturday. I'm still getting them when baby is very active. I was utterly convinced it was the swig of caster oil I took an hour before....but not too convinced now. Either way it has scared me off using it again, maybe I'll stick to the raspberry tea.

MrsMcJr - Hi there. Now you'd think the stomach bug would be enough to start contractions....but nothing has happened at all . Am so relieved the diarrohea has cleared tho (TMI - I'm sorry!!!!).

katyt1 · 19/01/2008 20:25

hi all, hope the list is ok. lots of people overdue in theory but think we just haven't heard from them in a while.

no more developments here, boo hiss.
lots of discharge, tmi, but only the one pinkish bit this morning that got me excited.
and lots of weirdish feelings that are more than BH but still not proper contractions. been trying lots of visualisation to open cervix and bring baby down which does cause more funny feelings but is it all in my head?!
had a curry (again!) and if cold doesn't get in the way will try and persuade dh to come to bed the same time as me....
find it really hard to get to sleep anyway atm so a bit of the other might help there too!!!

sorry no personals, taken me ages to play with list, hi to all

ayrshirelolo · 19/01/2008 20:30

Hi all!
Lovely name, Lucky and she is really beautiful! How are you healing up yourself?
Congratulations Lilyloo!!! very of 3 pushes and no stitches, and Martha is a gorgeous name!
Hope everone is ok, and that it is all kicking off for you Katy! I've spent most of today trying to sleep, with limited success! Last night dh was snoring loads and i had terrible heartburn and was a bit sore, so about 2.30am i decamped to the couch - dsd here this weekend so spare room occupied too!! Needless to say i got very little sleep and seriously freaked out dh who woke up at 7 and i wasn't there!!! So wee darling came through and sent me to bed for the day, however we had a noisy house today, dd, dsd, bil and nephew here for afternoon to playwith work on car and stay for dinner so dh says if necessary he'll have couch tonight, aw what a sweetie!! probably won't let him though, he's been fantastic recently and is probably as tired as i am!
MrsMcJ, i know what you mean about the clothes thing!! the only thing that feels comfy right now is joggy bottoms and i refuse to leave the house in them!!! I have one stretchy long black skirt that kind of does for anything - and everything - right now and i'm heartily sick of it!!! Apart from that it's kind of difficult to feel glam when you're the size of a bus!!
Anyway, hope everyone is ok, can't wait for the next hatching!! lolo x

LuckySalem · 19/01/2008 20:52

Katy - You're getting the same as me. Go swimming!! Worked wonders for me!

My cut is healing ok.... got told off by the midwives today for not taking it easy enough. I left the hospital yesterday anaemic. Should have been over 11 and was only 7 ahh well.

My brain is getting over everything as well now which is good. I can visualise what happened and why and it makes me feel so much better for it.

The main thing I remember is having such conviction to have my baby at home and pushing through the pain all the way through until they said hospital. After that I lost the plot, I just remember near enough screaming all the way until they put the epidural in (which btw, BRILLIANT)

BFing is going ok although she'll only take to the left side so might have to end up expressing the other side (MW's think she can't cope with my nipple on that side)

Cats have taken ok to Aaliyah, Salem has just been lying underneath her moses basket and it looks like he's guarding her.

katyt1 · 19/01/2008 21:02

lucky - yes i am getting twitchy about time passing....swimming, well i might give it another go when ds is at nursery but my spd stops me doing breaststroke, i'm now too unfit to do much front crawl and i feel silly just sitting there.... still will think about it.

lolo - hope you get more sleep tonight. let dh have a rough night and take the bed
on the clothes front, i have one pair of jeans that need braces to hold up that i wear all the time. am going to have to wash them at some point and find something to wear until they dry!
luckily not going anywhere other than toddler groups and other mums houses. had a posh do 2 days before ds was born and hired a dress for that.
at my biggest weightwise & sizewise which isn't helping with mood either

pinke - god, 41 weeks, how are you feeling? hope stomach had calmed down properly.

nicky - hope you get the time with dh that you want. give it a week and you'll be getting desperate like the rest of us!

LuckySalem · 19/01/2008 21:07

Katy - I can't swim, I just kinda stood in the shallow end holding the railing and flapping my legs about. Then I sat in the jacuzzi with the jets blasting my lower back.

mum2sons · 19/01/2008 22:11

Congratulations Lucky! Aaliyah is such a pretty name as well. It sounds like you did amazingly, I hope you are healing well too.

And congratulations to Lilyloo as well, with little Martha (gorgeous name as well!)
So many girls and pretty names here!

I think I maybe last on the list at this rate!! Although having horrible pains in my bum today and lots of BHs and also fanjo pains! Lovely! Nothing regular and no shows or anything exciting like that. Am sooo sick of the "av you ad it yet" texts and phone calls !

Sleep well ladies and babies xxx

katyt1 · 20/01/2008 05:02

well ladies, things are finally starting here. having a contraction every 10mins so long way to go i'm sure but am preparing by refueling! 1 bowl of frosties down, will need to get something else in a mo.
think the combo of curry & sex may have done the trick !

glad that dh is home, have to wake him up at some point i guess, but not quite sure what we'll do with ds on a sunday. had great plans for extra time at nursery, 'first friend' i know was out on the p*ss last night, 'second' has her parents for the weekend, will wait and see how it goes for now. have and hour-ish before he wakes up, maybe i shd send rush signals !

hi mum2sons

LuckySalem · 20/01/2008 08:39

Oh fingers crossed for you Katy!!

madmouse · 20/01/2008 12:15

Ooh KT, any more news? I hope that the fact you have not posted since means that things are indeed happening for you and that you find a good solution for your dc. So exciting

Am of you and a bit . Thought it was all happening for me too. Had regular if mild contractions from about 3am for most of the night although I did some sleeping with the help of paracetamol. They started with my bump going rock hard, then period cramp starting (and actually hurting) and lasting for about a minute. I was just waiting for them to get a lot stronger but instead, all gone! I think I had the last one at about 9am . Oh well, have decided that 38+4 is too early for sex (and DH has no sex drive at the mo anyhow)curry pineapple etc. Mousling clearly is not ready yet. He was busy enough though, bouncing and squirming between each contraction.

katyt1 · 20/01/2008 13:07

thanks lucky & madmouse, things are still going here but slowed down. if you'd asked me at 6am i would have guaranteed baby by lunchtime! then around 8 everything slowed right down. had mw appt anyway at 11 and she says engaged (woohoo) and expects me to be calling her back here later.
friend out drinking had night out cancelled and have another on standby so shd be no prob with ds, nay get them to take him this afternoon anyway so we can concentrate. dh thinks i might be 'holding back' cos he's running around distracting me. the mw said maybe.
ouch another one

sorry madmouse - hope yours restart soon

great pics lucky

fluffymummy · 20/01/2008 15:05

Lucky - congrats...and she's beautiful - but you knew that already - lovely name too!! Can you please post a link to your birth announcement as I can't find it...?

Mum2Sam (and Alex!) - massive congrats to you too!

And Lilyloo!!!

Gosh...so many babies...

Nicky - I think all post-labour wards are grim, especially in London. Best you can hope for if you do need to stay in is an 'amenity room' - most of the hospitals have them, and they're basically very small private rooms which cost about £100/night. Depends where you're going though - I know that the Royal Free doesn't have them any more. Otherwise your best bet is just to get home as quickly as possible...that's certainly my plan again this time!

MrsMc, PinkE and everyone else - yup, totally with you on the grumbling, grumping, where's my baby?, feelings!

Katy...hey due date buddy...sounds like it might be happening for you...sending you lots and lots of easy labour vibes!

I popped in to see Barristermum briefly on Friday evening - she looks fantastic and Cerys is really georgous...and I even got to have a quick cuddle (she was mid-feed, so understandably not very impressed at being held by anyone else!!)....left me feeling deeply broody...

Anyone heard from MixedMama?

Nothing happening here...thought it might be last night, but it just turned out to be a very very upset tummy...possibly a response to the Friday night curry. Either way, it hasn't worked...nothing moving here right now!

Ok, off to wrap a pressie for this afternoon's birthday party....I'm beginning to realise that having baby #2 is going to be so much more exhausting than #1, even if I do at least have a clue about what I'm doing, just cos we're not going to get any time 'off' when the LO is asleep....[sigh]...

Love to all, speak soon, Fluffy xx

fluffymummy · 20/01/2008 15:06

MrsMc - x post! How's your father doing? Sorry your parents aren't coming over straightaway, but maybe you'll enjoy seeing them more a few weeks after the birth? xxx

mum2sons · 20/01/2008 15:11

Hi all,

Nothing happening here (except the sound of my phone beeping with text messages galore!!! Do people REALLY think I will forget to say when the baby arrives..grrr)

Both DS's were born on Mondays, so there is still time! DH has taken the boys out so I can chill at home and read the papers in peace. I am sure the stress at home, especially with DS2 not going to sleep at night doesn't help the relaxing labour hormones!

Thinking of you all, especially my fellow over-due-ers! (Although normal pregnancy is not officially overdue until 42 weeks, we must remember that and put it in a mantra!)

Love to all those yummy babies xxx

nicky6 · 20/01/2008 15:45

Dear fluffy i think you are right. although the midwife who showed us round said you could ring the private ward and get a room - when i rang them first thing the next day they said no only if you had the whole thing private £4000 - i dont thnk so.

Anyway dh pleased as very anti private healthcare. will ask my midwife on tuesday when i see her.

Had lovely day adn ight with my mum and she even treated me to a couple of breastfeeding tops in the sales at jo jo mamn bebe, very good value sweatshirts are £15 and the other tops are £8 , cheaper than the normal shirts i was looking at in tescos to do the job.

However today feel quite knackered so have gone upstairs to the spare room to have some peace and quiet, we are having the carpets cleaned today so i thought i would absent myself from proceedings

So Dh now on paternity leave and am looking forward to a few nice days with him also getting him up to speed with things like this is how the tens machine attaches, this is what is in my case, this is where the baby things are, this is what i would like ( although no birth plan done as yet) job for today. Also my mum has persuaded us to do a bit of cooking this week and get a few meals in the freezer as we will appreciate it over the weeks to come.

Nursing bra fittting tomorrow, midwife tuesday, wardrobe delivery on thursday and then i reckon we are as ready as we will ever be.

i know i sound terrible when everyone is desperately awaiting arrival of their little ones but one more week or so would be lovely for me. Will probably chatting to myself on here soon x

AngeChica · 20/01/2008 16:30

Still here, nothing going on... feel more pressure down below when on my feet so hoping that means the little mite has finally engaged more. Have just done huge shop with DH at Asda, bought a pack of pineapple bits to try as today's "remedy".

Hope things going OK for you Katy.

BeckyAu · 20/01/2008 17:00

I'm still here too! Now 41weeks and ready to meet this little person! Went to hospital this morning for a sweep - cervix tightly closed and far back so nothing imminent I will go back on tues for another and thurs for another before induction (booked to go in on thurs night for that). Am really hoping to avoid induction as it means I can't go to the Active Birthing centre bit with pools etc which was so nice... The MW said I'm fine and the baby's fine which is the main thing and baby clearly very comfortable in it's back to back position (grrrr!) so now it's time for "Daddy hormones" pineapple and anything else I can think of to get this baby started. Personally I think it's so comfortable it's in a big X position bracing itself!
So I reckon I'll be around for a little while yet - so don't worry - none of us are on our own yet! xx

PuppyDogEyes · 20/01/2008 20:12

LO still can't find the exit here either.
like its father, can't make his way out the drive without tomtom.

i, too, am 41 weeks now.

i was offered a sweep for tomorrow, but refused it. i really didn't like the sound of being...interfered with (i suppose the best way to describe it), now i'm wondering whether i should just have the sweep?

did manage to get my hair cut yesterday though and ordered a tens very last minute which arrived yesterday too.
so i suppose a little extra time didn't hurt.

Must have patience (my new mantra)

PuppyDogEyes · 20/01/2008 20:34

oh yeah, speaking of hair cuts.

lady garden got trimmed right down with DH's beard groomer thing.

BECKY - i urge you not to take scissors down there again. you could do untold amount of damage .

could not take scissors down there! not without being able to see!!!!

anyway, as long as i empty trimmer out (!) and replace exactly as found, DH has never been the wiser! (hehe!!)
but to be honest, i didn't think it would be possible to nick myself with it, as it doesn't look sharp and has a sheild on it, but i did! twice! had to tcp my LG!

sorry if too much info... i would love to be discussing my LO but, as i keep saying, its refusing to come out.

pussycatmomma · 20/01/2008 21:09

Congratulations Lucky! I have read your dh's version of your birth story on another thread somewhere, I am very very impressed at you both getting through such an ordeal. She must be so worth it though ((((((hugs))))))) to all 3 of you.
Lovely name by the way, I have a niece named Aaliyah . How many days did you go overdue in the end? Well done and once again the biggest congratulations to you all.
I think I am almost as impressed at your dh posting on mn as I am at you having an emergency section!!!!!
I am officially 4 days from my due date now -official due date 24th Jan - this thursday!!!!
Cant believe it, still feel in shock that its come around so quickly and there is actually a baby in there thats just about ready to come out and face the world .
Im hoping I dont go overdue. We did a really long walk with the dog today, over 2 hours. Not that long really I suppose, but the longest Ive been able to do in a while! Feel like the babys head is right between my legs sorry if tmi! Its all very uncomfortable at the moment, as Im sure you will all remember! Have told dh we might have to attempt sex at some point next week, and I'll be down at tesco for the fresh pineapples tomorrow
I am rather glad in a way to see some other ladies overdue, as it means i wont be left on my own on this thread. Must keep reminding myself that it doesnt matter a jot as long as babe comes out reasonably happy and healthy. I really cant think without scrutinising this thread, but have any first timers babies actually arrived early? Would be very encouraging if they had, even if my little kitten decided to stay in for the duration.
Like some other ladies, I have been v. busy trimming the ol' lady garden (more like jurassic park just lately! !!!), shaving my legs and trying to get everything generally prepared. My friend has promised to french manicure my toenails and ive already had dh down there buffing away the hard skin on my feet - so unattractive, but oh so necessary! And all the while he's doing it hes commenting that really, no one is going to be interested in looking at my feet of all things! I know hes right, thats the worst thing about it, but Im just trying to make myself feel a little more human. I am offically the size of a bus, have lots of pain in the fanjo area, can not sleep for toffee, and am officially quite, quite ready to have my baby now please!!!!
Hope to be back soon with some interesting news!
