Hello!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Susiemj · 09/01/2008 20:21

Hi everyone - re. deiscussions of weight predictions. Bloody hell, ignore them. We were told that Sabela was a boombah bambino - 10lb was predicted at t erm. Even the day before birth we were scanned and told she weighed a kilo more than she was actually born at. She's a titch! and so sweet... (sorry, mummy hromones taking over...)

Gingeme - wishing you well on your way!

Mixedmama - good luck with iLS. No ideas I'm afraid. How about setting 'visiting hours' by way of broaching subject with DH? It's kind of neutral, but then you could set them to exclude when you might be visited alone. ??

Neuro - congrats - we wait details with bated breath.

Madmouse - yes. She usually gets that alert at about 11pm! Sleeps all blooming day....

Katy - yes - we think about the 21st - although I try not to think about it. When I think about how close we came to losing her - well suffice to say I try not to think about it.

Naetha - what is PUPP? Hope it's not serious or too uncomfy.

All is well here - although Ive got a water infection and managed to split my big toenail down the middle. Sabela had to go to hospital today to get checked out by the paediatrician to do with her 'period' style blood loss. Seems to be ok though. Back on MOnday.

DM here. For all those of you who remember my previous discussions - wish me luck!

Well still no news here ! Am off for post mature apt at hospital tom and presume they will want to book induction date i am really not ready to give up on h/birth yet!
Just wanted to wish Barristermum lot's of luck with the induction.
Also hope things are progressing for you Gingeme!
Naetha i used anusol for mine after dd and found that helped!
Lucky my sympathies with you any news of Fragolina ?
Hope everyone else ok and keeping as well as they can x

madmouse · 09/01/2008 20:56

Fragolina has been posting here about having contractions ten mins apart since yesterday. Seems it is all happening for her!

LuckySalem · 09/01/2008 21:58

Sorry can't report any news from here. Sweep tomorrow. Am really nervous about it which I expect is not going to help with it!!!

Am bout fragolina if she's on the way!!

Hope everyone is ok, sorry I'm not talkative at the moment but DP is now on pat leave and as we don't spend much time together I didn't want to spend too much time on here but I will update each day!

ayrshirelolo · 09/01/2008 22:12

oooooooo!!!!!!!! Isn't it getting exciting!!!!!! Welcome lilbuddy, fingers crossed it's all happening Gingeme, waiting for news of Fragolina and barristermum and details about Neuro!
Fluffy, glad you're finishing tomorrow.... you deserve a medal for keeping going till now! And goodluck with the red book evidence, hope they listen to you!
Susie, Spud, the photos are adorable! Makes me want to meet mine soon!
Well, started the iron tablets today, and yes i agree i'd rather eat a big juicy steak but i've been eating really well over Christmas and New Year, and even having the odd glass of red wine which is full of iron and still the blardy doc has said take 3 iron tablets every day! I'll know more about my Hb levels and what it means on Monday when i have midwife appointment! In the meantime eating loads of fresh pineapple and drinking ribena to stave off the (inevitable) constipation!
Lucky how you doing? still fed up petal? are you managing to get any rest at all or is it too uncomfy? sending you hugs anyway!
Mixedmama no really helpful suggestions, apart from emphasising to dh how shattered you'll be and how much you'll need his support to see visitors of any kind... and hope he gets the hint? Either that or just don't answer the door and hide behind the sofa!
madmouse hope you're at least getting some sleep with the paracetomol, by my reckoning you and i are now at 37 weeks (yipee!! full term! bring it on!) so the end is in sight! i've started drinking 4-5 cups of rasp leaf tea every day now and bouncing around on the excercise ball. I've also booked my mum to come down for a night next week to put dd to bed so that they're both reasonably comfy with that if the timing is such that lo makes it's arrival during dd's bedtime! if it all happens before then they'll have to muddle through!!
Anyway, good luck to lilyloo and lucky especially... here's to positive contraction vibes ladies!!! lolo xx

nicky6 · 09/01/2008 22:23

Hi everyone

had a lovely lie in today slept til 11.15 unbelievable - so feeling very energetic

also had a 4 hour breastfeeding clinic this afternoon organised by kings which was very useful. Am sure it will all go out my head as soon as the little one arrives.

Barister mum hope all goes well on friday and congrats to those in labour or with new lo's.

Am hoping to hold off for a little while still yet.

Mixed mama - i sat down with my dh last night and had the same conversation - just said i thought it was important for us to find our own feet and although i would love some visitors also important to have soem time on my own to get used to it and also to rest. He agreed and said he would be totally guided by me and that he realised the position with my mum was not the same as with his. So try kind but up front - seems to have worked here. good luck

Good morning ladies.
Our baby George was born at 2.45 this morning on our bathroom floor ! He weighs 8lb 2oz and has masses of dark hair. My husband delivered him as we had called an ambulance and the midwife but George had other ideas. He came into the world in just 3 pushes
Hes absloutely lovely and eating like a horse. Introduced my bigger boys to him and my 3 year old said'ooh hes popped out!' . My 14 month old just keeps making little delighted squeals and poking Georges nose.
No stitches but I did tear a little. The midwife said its best to leave it to heal by itself.
Well good luck to everyone who is in labour and be patient to those who are still waiting.
Ill put some photos on soon.

Gingeme - amazing news!!! Well done!! I can't believe you managed that all on your own....that's just so incredibly fab!

Looking forward to the pics

Lucky - good luck, and relax about the sweep..it isn't much fun but not terrible either and is a price worth paying if it gets things going for your h/birth...

Wonder how Barristermum is getting on?

MrsMc - you ok? Getting concerned about your total radio silence at the moment!

Hi Katy - you're doing a great job on the MrsMc style updates...keep 'em coming!

Lolo - big hugs atcha. We've got the ILs and my DPs on standby to do the same thing, and have explained to DS that if the hospital call to tell mummy and daddy that the baby is ready to be collected (I wish! ) and he's asleep then his GPs will be there in the morning. Bless, he straightaway asked if he could come with us to collect the baby....

Susie - best of luck with your DM!!

Aarrgh, total pregnancy brain, can't remember any of the other things I wanted to respond to...sorry...!!

Last day at work, will be so relieved to finish!

Speak soon, Fluffy xx

Naetha · 10/01/2008 10:49

Congratulations Gingeme - sounds like a pretty fantastic birth, even if it was faster than anticipated! And 3 pushes - I'm envious!!

Definite kudos to your DH as well!

Susiemj · 10/01/2008 10:59

Congratulations Gingeme! Obviously he was imaptient to see you! Have a lovely cuddle!

DM here - 'to help' - she's woken me up four times - more than bay and there's a pile of disheds in the sink - no sign of any help yet. DH just made HER toast. Grrrrrrrrrrrr

LuckySalem · 10/01/2008 11:20

Congrats Gingme

Just had my sweep, head still quite far up and could only just reach cervix apparently (i'm guessing that means nothing much going to happen very quickly)

Speak to you all later!
XXX

Letsgo · 10/01/2008 11:56

Oh wow - congratulations to Gingeme. Such a lovely story.

katyt1 · 10/01/2008 12:12

gingeme - congrats so well done, another George, that makes 2, will ours be number 3? (still can't settle on names).
hope our home birth is as quick, well maybe not so quick or i won't get to go in the pool!
and with your parents there too!? did the household know what was happening or were you quiet?
how long after his arrival did the m/w turn up? mine has said she can make it from hers to mine in 11mins...

susie - grrr for you re DM, tell dh not to make her anything else, she'll soon learn!

lucky - any reaction to the sweep yet?? fingers crossed it gets things started...oh and hope you and dh are spending quality time together.

fluffy - only half a day to go ! sweet ds hope mrsmc is back on form soon, takes me ages

mixedmama & nicky - hope you get your ILs sorted out. mine will be here asap there's not stopping them. ah well, at least MIL does do the ironing

lolo - hope you're not getting bunged up !

lilyloo - how went the appt?? hope you can have your hb.

fragolina - looking forward to hearing news...

naetha - bad luck on the PUPPP tho i don't really know what it is either

and was it madmouse whose mw said it had to be 38wks for home birth? here it's 37 as it is in lots of places, weird how it can be so different. i was even tempted to 'not be sure anything was happening until it was too late' at 36wks.

anyway, no signs or twinges from me, will tell body it can go from tonight when dh gets home tho, see if my subconscious is all that is holding me back...oh and have mw later so see what she says.

ds running around instead of napping and i want/need a nap too so will have to go and sort him out!

AngeChica · 10/01/2008 12:14

Congrats Gingeme, sorry you didn't get to the hospital in time for your water birth but sounds like George had a relatively easy entrance to the world.

MW just been & is sending me to hospital for BP monitoring DH having to come out of school to take me as she says I am not allowed to drive myself! They might keep me overnight.

I have no idea what happens in cases of hypertension but wonder if they might induce me early, my due date is Monday and i guess at least it would spare me the tedium of going overdue!

Susiemj · 10/01/2008 13:04

good luck angechica - i think you might be right.

Good luck Angechica. Hope it all goes well.
Wonder how Barristermum is doing with her induction.
Ive been to sleep for a couple of hours and have just had a shower. Feel a bit more human now. George is still fast asleep in the bedroom. I keep peeping in on him.
My mw turned up about 20 mins after he was born Katy1. Just ready to deliver the placenta. Got back ache now. Just taken a couple of paracetamol and some more Arnicha. Bit stingy down below too but thats to be expected realy.
I was quite quiet realy but then I usualy am in labour so my other two lo's stayed asleep. They woke when the paramedics turned up because we have a buzzer enrty system so the noise of that woke them. Luckily they soon settled ack to sleep.
Well off to make my 14 month some lunch. Hes just woke from his afternoon nap.

nicky6 · 10/01/2008 14:08

gingeme - truly amazing i think i would happily forgo hospital birth if i could pop one out so quickly - well done you.

Hope everyone else is ok
fluffy glad to hear you finish work soon.

House upside down as trying to get final bits of building work and electrics done, pushchair and car seat delivered today - very weird

keep well everyone

LuckySalem · 10/01/2008 14:24

Hi all,

Just been reading through my anti natal notes and from 24/12 its been reading 3/5th today she's put 4/5th and a couple of notes I don't understand. Have googled but can't make sense of it.

It says "Cx just tipped" and "3 above spines" Also "presenting part remains high"

Don't spose any of you can understand that can you?

I'm starting to get really scared of ending up in hospital being induced and I just don't know what to do. We've had curry, long walks, sweep, hot baths.

angelcake99 · 10/01/2008 15:10

Just wanted to say that I had my baby on monday 7th jan by c-section after induction failed twice. Gave birth to a baby girl named natasha Caitlin who is in good health and weighed 8lb 8 at birth. Very happy it is all over
