nicky6 · 08/01/2008 23:14

hooray - i finished work yesterday i know i said i was finishing last week but my case finished yesterday.

Just as well as lots of bh and baby keeps sticking its bum out.

have no nesting inkling whatsoever - in fact dh doing more nesting than me - marvelous thats what i say.

kings are doing a half day breast feeding lesson tomorrow so i am going to that, have one more piece of paperwork to do but am really now oficially unemployed - very weird.

Had a friend over today barrister mum and it does seem that the estimate as to size is just that, she was told 2 days before the baby was born that she was having a giant baby and in fact was 61b 8 .

Another friend of mine went a week over due date expecting a big baby and had perfectly natural childbirth baby 11ib 2.

I am told baby is likely to be 9lb ish but my mum says she looked enormous with me and i was only 6lb8 and the rest was water.

Anyway congrats girls - sounds lioke everyone is doing well.

good luck to all you wanting the lo's out and keeping in vibes for those of us not quite ready yet!!!!!!!

Hi everyone, hope everyone is well.

Im at a bit of a loose end tonight, because Brendan was taken back into hospital this afternoon for jaundice, we are hoping he will only be in for a night or two as it was dealt with early. So I thought I would do a bit of updating.

Our story started when I awoke at 6.00am on Thursday having a coughing fit, which made me feel an urgent need for the toilet. I told my dp that I had a feeling that my waters were leaking (This is how labour started with Kieran). We went to the hospital and it was confirmed that waters were leaking, I had to stay in the hospital as I was 36.6 weeks. Contractions started at 5pm that evening. By 3am friday morning I was finding contractions very intense, which was when I learned was due to the position he was lying virtually back to back. I was examined and I was 3cm dilated so was taken upto labour ward. 5am I informed nurse I felt the need to go toilet. I was examined again and only 5cm dilated, but it was also discovered because Brendan was coming out on a angle only and pressing on one side of the cervix, that only side of the cervix was dilating the otherside was staying thick. I was informed at this point if I attempted to push at all that I would end up having cs. They put me on a drip to try to regulate contrations etc and gave me pethidine for pain relief. In the end all ended well, he arrived safely at 10:10am friday morning.

I will log on again hopefully tomorrow

Ive also put a couple of pics on profile

Take care everyone x

naetha - thanks for the hint on gall bladder... but my pains higher in my ribs than that - it's kinda at the top of my ribs, about 2 inches below where my bra would be... in fact that's about the 'height' around my ribs where all the niggles are, but in this one spot it seems to feel a lot worse.

it feels as if my skin should be hot to touch - only it isn't /

preparation H do some moist toilet tissue and a clear cooling gel too for piles... i've just started using recently and foud it nicer to use than germaloids (which i'd used in the past, but found very greasy and strong smelling)

pussycatmomma · 09/01/2008 09:19

susiemj - GORGEOUS GORGEOUS GORGEOUS!!!!! I want mine soon!!!!!!!!!!!!
xx

katyt1 · 09/01/2008 09:37

all these lovely pics of lovely little babies, i want mine too
ok just not quite today tho
off to get hair cut in a min and it really needs it so baby will have to wait!

susie - that's interesting that baby was actually overdue, maybe. what would her due date have been? christmas?!

hope all new mums are getting on ok with feeding, sleeping, expressing, toddlers, etc.
and getting rid of piles, ouch .

spud - hope brendan comes home soon.

nicky - glad you have finished work finally, know i couldn't be any use mentally if i was still there.

angel - congrats

barristermum - missed the chance to post yesterday, but hope the induction is going well as we speak

lolo - think it could be linked to the toddler...! hope they work for you anyhow. tho i would rather dh cooked me a good steak or spag bol than risk the constipation

right, must get on with jobs as ds at nursery, bliss, then off to hairdressers to switch off for a bit...aaahhhh

Naetha · 09/01/2008 11:38

Wow - Sabela and Brendan are gorgeous

Hopefully Brendan will be back with you soon enough

Hope your sore throat gets better soon Susie - at least you can take more cold/sore throat remedies than you could when pregnant! I still swear by hot honey and lemon with a drop of brandy

Got some pile cream prescribed by the doctor - spoke to my Dad last night (who's a GP and thankfully I have an open and honest relationship with!) and he recommended I go to the doctor's just to get it checked out just in case it was cause by my tear extending further than they realised. Also turns out I've got PUPPP - I thought they were just itchy stretch marks, but the doc said it was the most impressive case he'd ever seen . They should clear up soon

We're trying to get out every day when we can, so today's activity is a trip to Tesco - oh the fun!

Ooh another tip btw - the Coorie sling from here is really good, although took a few tries to get it comfy for both of us. Also doubles up as a great fleecy blanket .

ladylush · 09/01/2008 11:52

Just popping in to say a big congratulations to all of you who have had your babies and to say hi to Mrs McJnr. Hope it's not long now

sideways · 09/01/2008 12:55

pussycatmomma - we went for lemon in the end.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

mixedmama · 09/01/2008 12:55

Just a quick one and then am going to catch up.

Congrats to Naetha who I know has had little Ben from FB, and congrats to anyone else, but am going to have a read now.

Had my sweep yesterday and she said that my cervix was really high and completely closed and my baby boy is only partially engaged, so quite disapointed with that as am now 8 days overdue and hadnt really considered this occuring tbh. Am booked for induction on Friday so one way or the other he will be arriving this weekend then can join the post natal thread for all the poo talk.

madmouse · 09/01/2008 14:07

Hi all

Mixedmama, sorry about the sweep thing and cervix being unfavourable, it must feel like you have waited forever. I hope it will all change quickly now.

Susie and Spud aaaaaaah, sweet , Susie Sabela looks so incredibly alert int he pics!

Nicky, well done for finishing work, even better finishing with the end of the case. Let your DP do the nesting, you need to rest now, you don't want to start labour exhausted from work.

Doing better here, wondering whether the pain is less or I am coping better. Does not matter, I feel better. Only taking two paracetamols at night, prefer not to take any when I go out so my body can give me all the warning signs it needs to. Still can't wait till baby moves from bump to pushchair though!

Take care everyone!

AngeChica · 09/01/2008 14:12

Hi MM! At least you know you will have your baby soon... I'm not doing very well on the engaged thing either. Midwives are coming round tomorrow to check my BP and urine again as it was high and I had protein yesterday. I don't feel ill though - the thought of visitors has finally spurred me to do lots of cleaning today!

If anyone knows Neuro I think she was being induced on Monday so she should have popped by now too.

mixedmama · 09/01/2008 14:18

She sent me a text message yesterday. She has had the baby and seemed very positive... she said the words "fast labour". I will let her fill in the blanks gender, weight etc.

Ange - yeah I am pleased that at least he is def making an appearnace one way or another this weekend.

Was on the Dec Postnatal and realise I am the last person from Dec to pop.

Startign to worry about ILs again... altho not irrationally now. Things have improved loads, but worried about when baby gets here... DH is only going to manage a couple of days off and I do not under any circumstances want any of them coming round when he is not here, just need to find a diplomatic way to approach with him, any ideas????

madmouse · 09/01/2008 14:25

Ange, if your BP is up should you be rushing around cleaning? No one told you to rest [patronising emoticon]. To be honest, if I rested my pelvis as much as I should I would go mental so I sympathise

gingeme · 09/01/2008 14:36

Afternoon ladies. Things seem to be on the go here. Woke up 3am with a few tightenings and very mild contractions. Got a little stronger and about every 8 minutes till 4.30. Had the runs on and off too. Contractions got stronger but didnt last for long till about 7am. Was then very sick and had the runs too . Got up at 8 and had a bit of toast. Went for a walk with Mum to my local newsagent hoping to speed things up. Still getting them every 8 mins but they do seem stronger now. Just hope it doesnt all go off and this baby is with us sometime today.
Hope everyone else is ok.
Take care xxxx

Just popping in to say hi to all and big congratulations to all ladies who have already had their LOs. The photo's are wonderful.

Good Luck to all who are patiently waiting to pop. I've got about 5 days to go until my EDD and don't feel anywhere near to giving birth. Baby 3/5 engaged though and I have another appointment with midwife tomorrow.

I'm actually quite enjoying my maternity leave and trying to make the most of it before my life changes completely!

Hi to Lilbuddy and welcome to the thread, I'm sure the reading of the messages will keep you occupied and hopefully take your mind off your LO.

Good Luck Barristermum

madmouse · 09/01/2008 16:32

Good Luck Gingeme

fluffymummy · 09/01/2008 17:34

Good luck Gingeme...!!! Fingers crossed that this is it!

Barristermum - good to speak to you earlier this afternoon...you're being really upbeat and positive about the unexpected induction...anyway, fingers crossed for you that it all goes smoothly!!!

Just back from GP checkup, blood pressure up slightly so have to go back for another check on Friday, but I think that was entirely due to the fact we'd just been discussing whether I would need to be induced on my due date........anyway, will have to wait for doctor appt at hospital next week to find out for sure.

Apparently the birth weight thing is worked out by assuming that the measurable stuff (like height!) matches the weight; i.e. if the foetus is 95th centile for height then they assume it will be 95th for weight as well. OK, that's probably a bit simplistic, but my GP was an Obs and Gynae specialist before becoming a GP and that's the gist of it. So I'm planning to take in DS's red book which shows his birth measurements to the hospital in an attempt to negotiate a few extra days (rather than being induced on due date), as DS was 100th centile for height but 'only' 75th for weight...on that basis, my 2nd baby is going to be very tall but might not weigh any more than DS at birth (8lb 10oz), especially since he was 2 weeks late....

Loving all the baby pictures...almost beginning to get broody ! And thanks for all the birth stories, they really help with starting to get properly focussed on the big event

2nd last day of work today...so relieved that its all finishing tomorrow. Really had enough now!!! Next time I decide to work to 39 weeks, somebody please please please hit me over the head with something large and heavy to knock some sense into me!!!!

Hugs all round, and lots of positive vibes to everyone who is late/due or just plain ready!! xx
