The last message I posted seems to have filled up the old thread so I thought I'd start a new one.

Since bump size was our last topic, I thought this might do for a thread title.

OP posts:

OK ladies, some new photos on my profile that dh took this morning.

Rolf · 16/12/2007 09:38

I had a glass of champagne last night and a piece of camembert (not together!). It was lovely and felt so naughty!

I have been feeling as though my stomach has shrunk and was very relieved when I put on a skirt and could hardly fasten it. And saw that I had the most enormous bump. I think my comfy trousers have become rather saggy!

Great pictures Deb.

goingfor3christmaspuddings · 16/12/2007 09:50

Debs as usual I am totally envious of your scenary, it is just so amazing!

tassisssss welcome and congratulations there are a few of us pregnant with our third baby.

goingfor3christmaspuddings · 16/12/2007 11:32

I'm just waiting for the inlaws to come over and they will want to arrange what we are doing for hristmas, there is going to be a bitter feeling in the aor for someone today!

systemsaddict · 16/12/2007 12:59

Ooh glad to see new thread, hi everyone and welcome poppy and tassisss! And welcome back lazylou! I lost track of the old one - everything is v. quiet with pregnancy right now, no symptoms (bar complete revulsion for wine, sadly, as I would happily have a glass but it tastes like chemical sludge!). My energy levels are back to normal so I've been trying hard to get back on top of everything that got neglected the first couple of months. And preparing Christmas, argh!

I did feel what I'm sure was a fluttery kick the other day though - very exciting! I'm just 16 weeks so not too early I guess but had nothing till after 20 weeks last time. I do feel like this is a girl, but not so much a 'feeling' as an informed guess given how different this pregnancy has felt so far, I had no sickness and little tiredness last time in first trimester.

My bump is slowly growing, and the shape I go my trousers can't stay up, which really, really, really wound me up last time (am not a skirt or dress person!) I have just bought some 'belly ups' which are great - like braces that you clip onto trousers and bra at the sides. Feels a bit odd but I went and did a talk on Friday in non-maternity low-cut jeans without them falling off, yay!!

So sorry to hear you've lost your friend dylansluckymum .

goingfor3christmaspuddings · 16/12/2007 13:59

systemsaddict mt pregnancies with DD1 and DD2 could not have been more different. I was sick until 18 weeks with DD2 and didn't have any sickness with DD1. My weight gain was very different too, with dd1 the pounds piled on right from the start whereas with dd2 I didn't gain anything until after 24 weeks when I gained exactley 10kgs between 24 and 28 weeks. Both girls though. I change my mind daily about what this one is!

systemsaddict · 16/12/2007 14:32

That's interesting g43 - my weight gain is different this time too, I don't think I've gained much at all yet, probly cos had no appetite for such a long time. I had a hard time the final couple of months with ds because both he and I were so big, so I'm hoping if I'm a bit lighter now this might carry through... I would be quite happy if this was another boy (would be quite happy with either of course, but having had a boy who I adore, now find it easier to imagine another one!) - guess I just have to wait and see! Hoping to find out at second scan so that's only a few weeks now.

systemsaddict · 16/12/2007 14:33

btw have you seen the in-laws already? how did it go?

poppy34 · 16/12/2007 16:05

talking of weightgain is anyone else ravenously hungry? I don't know if its the cold but I haven't stopped eating for the last few days..

debinaustria · 16/12/2007 18:34

Yes Poppy - I am always eating too!!making up for lost time I think, just off to make toast and butter!!

ChinaSurprise · 16/12/2007 18:39

Evening all
Haven't been on for a while as the new job is much busier and I'm also sitting in a place which makes my screen a lot more visible. Eek.
Went to the Xmas party on Thurs and did have a glass of red wine - I've been allowing myself two to three small drinks a week. The mw I saw at my pre-booking in appt was v casual re alcohol - saying "just cut down", but my proper mw looked quite disapproving at my booking in when I said I was having 1 or 2 units twice a week - you can't win. Happily DH is teetotal so at least I don't have to watch him quaffing vino every night!
As for hair dye - there are loads of different opinions, but the EU is v strict on dye ingredients compared to the States, which bans hardly anything, so it's worth checking the law for where you live. I decided to go ahead and do my roots before the party after reading what felt like a million web pages about it, all with different advice.
I've had three or four times when I'm pretty sure I felt the baby move - am 15 weeks today. One night there was some pretty insistent nudging going on, which made me laugh.
It's absolutely freezing here - am wearing a giant jumper, gloves and scarf and still too cold. Brrrrrr. My bump is starting to grow, but I still managed to disguise it at the office party with some magic knix - last time I'm wearing them though - just too uncomfy!
Final piece of news - my parents have very generously given us their old car, a Peugeot 307, which feels lovely and luxurious compared to our old Seat - great timing. And I've FINALLY put the Xmas decorations up. Roll on the holidays!

ChinaSurprise · 16/12/2007 18:41

Ps. Am currently eating for about four, if it's any consolation.

poppy34 · 16/12/2007 18:49

china -re hairdye I asked my consultant midwife (don't ask - I've been super paranoid so had loads of consultations since I was pregnant). She seemed to think that highlights esp if you're going lighter (apparently tis the very dark dyes that are potentially tricky) are ok as they shouldn't be in contact with your scalp.

am just now tucking into a huge bag of crips so feel better its not just me...and its good as I havent felt that hungry until v.recently

Upsidedowndetective · 16/12/2007 19:17

Evening everyone. I hope all had nice weekends. We were so busy. I had to do about three hours work, we put up the Christmas tree and decorated the house, bought paint for our painting project over Christmas and dealt with ds1 who was being very busy.

We've been working for a while about taking ds1's clothes on and off. After his nap time today, I found him stark naked with his nappy round his ankles ... he was so proud of himself! He's done it three times since. Perhaps I shouldn't have laughed as much as I did ...

Nursery tomorrow. They're going to be chuffed to bits with Master striptease. Hopefully it's normal development.

Rolf · 16/12/2007 19:19

My paranoia of doing something dangerous when pregnant is matched only by my distrust of hairdressers up here. Before we moved north, I used to get a vegetable colour done, with highlights, and it just looked nice and natural. But everyone I see here either looks a complete mess or like a footballer's wife. I have, after careful consideration, opted for the former. I have become much more grey at the temples in the last few years, so just getting highlights done wouldn't really do the job.

(Hope I'm not offending anyone by the way!)

Lots of hats, perhaps

Upsidedowndetective · 16/12/2007 19:28

China, the guidelines on alcohol are very confusing. The Department of Health in England still says 1 or 2 units once or twice a week; while NICE now says no wine in the first trimester, but up to one unit a day after that.

Welcome Tassis.

Debs, gorgeous pictures. DH and DS would so love snow, and I bought some lovely waterproof dungarees for ds today.

hedgehog1979 · 16/12/2007 19:47

Evening all, love hearing what all your DS and DD's are up to and can't wait to talk about mine - unfortunately still got far too long too go.

for all of you who are ravenously hungry and eating. I still can keep very little down and can't take any anti sickness tablets as they would interfere with my other medication. Although the things I can keep down are totally unhealthy (think Opal Fruits - it was wrong to change the name, Jelly Tots and Fruit Pastils)

Am currently sitting here with tears running down my face with DH laughing at me all because Gethin has left Strictly Come Dancing - Can I blame the hormones?

Have a good week everyone only 9 days to go

Upsidedowncake · 16/12/2007 20:02

It'll come soon enough, Hedgehog! But thanks for saying that, suddenly thought you may not have all been as fascinated by ds's naked streaking as I was ...

On a pregnancy note, have other people been having any cravings as your pregnancies go on? I'm just having a huge craving for marmite on toast and boiled eggs ...

GardenAngel4 · 16/12/2007 20:36

Evening all, just been catching up. hedgehog hope you feel better soon and debs I can't believe you are still sick every morning, you deserve a medal!

Re having your hair highlighted I had mine done twice last time, but only after 12 weeks and I had the Magimeche foils which don't touch the scalp and was meticulous (!) in asking hairdresser to not let any of it touch! I am close to desperation with my 'blonde-with-help' hair so am intending to get it done after Christmas.

Also someone mentioned brain going to mush...last night I tried to take my make up off with tooth paste! I actually squeezed toothpaste onto the cotton wool...

We had our NCT first babies' xmas party today and I told everyone, it was a relief, but everyone was quite shocked at how soon (DD is 7 months) I'm not THAT mad am I!

Welcome tassisssss

debinaustria · 17/12/2007 06:28

Morning

Upside down - I've heard of loads of children doing the striptease thing, mine didn't though. Maybe you should turn your heating down - he might not be inclined!!! Don't think he'd do it here, temp was -10 yesterday morning!!!!

GA4 - got used to the sickness now and as I know exactly when it will happen then it's OK, hoping that it will stop by Christmas.

Hedgehog - sorry to hear you're still struggling with sickness - some say it's a sign of a really strong pregnancy!

Had a really busy weekend, finally finished the painting now we have to lay a floor and get the apartment finished by Friday for the guests arriving. MIL arrives tomorrow for Christmas which is a godsend as she will sort out the boys for us whilst we get on with it.They have been slightly abandoned these past weeks - and have watched way too much TV.

This weekend ds1 has been a shepherd in the nativity again, complete with lederhosen and ds2 was the angel Gabriel - he looked so sweet, for a performance at the old people's home in the village. I had also taught the group Jingle Bells in English so we entertained the old people for a while then the children all had a party.

Just remembered - Ernest - how was the weekend - how's the house and the school? Did you have a good journey back home?

Enough from me , wish me luck with the laminate!!!

sophiewd · 17/12/2007 08:15

Good morning all.

upsidedown DD does this fairly regulalry, she has started taking her nappy of when she wants a new one and sometimes just likes running around with no cloths on.

Deb, glad you have finished the painting, DH has some to so today as DD decided to draw on the walls yesterday, not to bad but in hallway so not good for guests to see. Oh well, hidden all the pens now.

Josie57 · 17/12/2007 09:09

upside down - I laughed out loud at the description of your son. I know my ds will be the same before long. He has just started working out how to put clothes on, i.e. put arms through cardigans and he tries to put his head through tops but can't manage this on his own. However, he often tries to take his nappy off when I take his other clothes off so I am sure it is just a matter of time. How old is your ds?

Rolf · 17/12/2007 09:51

Gardenangel - my DSs are close together - 17 months - and it's LOVELY. Obviously they fight as all siblings do but it makes me so happy that they have each other.

Upsidedowncake - I am craving salty food, much more so than when not pregnant. I'm still eating far too much sugar too.
