Due in June 2008: bring on the bumps! (and that's before Christmas meals!)

The last message I posted seems to have filled up the old thread so I thought I'd start a new one.

Since bump size was our last topic, I thought this might do for a thread title.

OP posts:

Exciting food news*

You can Brie and other soft cheese that is pasteurised! The midwives say it's OK. Most of the French brand names are made from 'lait pasteurise/'

Hope everyone's well. So excited to hear about all your kicks in the tummy. I didn't feel ds until 21 weeks or so, so not expecting to for a while.

Finished work for Christmas now. DS and I have been spinning round the kitchen singing 'Mud, mud, glorious mud'. Not very Christmassy but fun.

xx

Stay Libralady. You're in our gang!

LOONEYplayingachristmasTUNEy · 19/12/2007 20:21

Hey Libralady, that's what I thought.....you're not the only one not due in June

LittleMintSpy34 · 19/12/2007 20:35

Hello all,

Just wanted to pop up after long absence to say that final results came through from our CVS and they've confirmed a normal karyotype - and it's a boy! Can't help feeling a teeny bit disappointed as we really wanted a girl (we already have DS1, 20 months) but I know I'll love him when he arrives. Does being disappointed make me a bad mother?

So now we're just waiting for the heart scan at 18 weeks, fingers crossed.

3rd on the way - really sorry to hear your news, hope you manage to have a nice Christmas in spite of difficult times.

nettiehay - no skiing in Bristol but I went ice skating the other day, it was really fun!

Hope everyone is going to have a lovely Christmas!

systemsaddict · 19/12/2007 20:38

yes, this dating stuff is nowhere near an exact science anyway! I fixated on the due date last time and ended up 2 weeks late and more pissed off with every day that passed ... This time I figure that could happen again, or alternatively they might induce me early as they're going to monitor me for big baby as ds was nearly 10 lbs - so now when people ask me when it's due I just say 'May / June sometime'! So do stick with us libralady

debinaustria · 19/12/2007 21:11

Littlemintspy - you're not a bad Mum to feel a little disappointed, we would love a girl this time too, and we should find out in a few weeks, but now that I'm pregnant I am so concerned that all is OK with the baby, the sex is not as important.(that's the sex of the baby)

libraladytistheseasontobejolly · 19/12/2007 21:19

Looney
Long time no see. How are you doing now?

I'll keep posting on this thread and lurking mainly, just thought I'd take my name off the list.
Nice to be thought of as part of the gang though.

Rolf · 19/12/2007 21:39

Littlemintspy so pleased about your results and no, you are not a bad mother, just a normal and honest one. It's exciting that you're the first of the thread to know the sex of your baby.

DH and I keep saying to each other "we honestly don't mind what it is, but please not another girl" as DD is such a handful! So in a way I'd like a boy, but in another way it would be nice to have a girl next to DD. So I REALLY don't mind! Just want a live baby I can take home and love.

LOONEYplayingachristmasTUNEy · 19/12/2007 21:50

Hi Libralady - I'm ok thanks. Dh IS having his last on Friday which is good (paid til 3rd Jan) but unfortunately no job lined up so we're a tad stressed with that. I've not been thinking TOO much about that with all the other stuff going on (sister rushing into hospital with EP with complications, big changes with my childminding & then pregnancy worries of my own). Anyway, thanks so much again for all the advice you gave about dh's redundancy How are you? All ready for Christmas?

libraladytistheseasontobejolly · 19/12/2007 21:54

Looney,
You must be joking. Haven't really got my head around the Xmas front yet?
How's your little bun doing now after your scare?
Have I missed something 'on the chilkdminding front'?
Heard your sister had had a ectopic. How is she now?
These may be on another thread, I'm sorry. Just point me in the right direction and I'll catch up.

LittleMintSpy34 · 19/12/2007 22:04

Thanks deb and rolf, have been feeling so weirdly detached about this baby after tests and all that, I started worrying in case he felt like he wasn't wanted! Have been trying to send reassuring thoughts his way for the last 24 hours.

And Rolf - sounds like girls can be a real handful, maybe it's a good thing we're sticking to boys! Perhaps I should just realise when I'm well off

off to bed now [yawn], DH out on the town again. Sigh. Goodnight all x

LOONEYplayingachristmasTUNEy · 19/12/2007 22:23

same here and starting to panic!!! lol

Sister - doing fine apart from written her car off. Can you believe that in the last month or so she's a) been moved into a safe house, b) found out she's pg after being sterilised in Sept...emergency op and both tubes removed....told they couldn't find baby in tubes so had to wait for scan the FINALLY got neg pg test on Friday THEN......c) that evening she hit black ice on a country lane and ended up in a ditch!!!

Childminding - long story, 2 of my mindees (sisters) have been with me ages. The 2 and half year old start at 6 months old and her just turned 1 yr old sister started with me at 7 weeks. I love them to bits HOWEVER have many problems with parents causing big trouble and not wanting to collect when their children are VERY poorly (i.e. baby 9 months old with temp of 103.2/39.9 and screaming as not well ) Anyway, always had in back of mind that it's not good for business to keep this up etc etc. and that one day I'll have to give notice. Then....got offer I couldn't refuse. My double pay baby I have on Thurs/Fri is now going to come to me every day of the week, double pay So she will replace the 2 meaning 1 mindee instead of 2, finish at 6pm instead of 6.30pm and won't even be needed on Tuesday's - that's how desperate her mum was for me to take her full time. I've told her I will advertise for one space as don't want all of my eggs in one basket long term but this suits me fine for now She's agreed to a 2 month notice period rather than 1 too. Hated giving notice to others but had to be done and glad it's been done now. I'll have them til Feb unless they choose to leave earlier, in which case double pay baby's mum will start earlier - how fab eh (although there will be many tears as it gets nearer!)

My Pregnancy - I felt better after my scan and then it all changed for me last Tuesday and I'm not quite sure what's going on but hopefully all ok. Basically, had a fall on Tuesday, only minor but luckily I decided to phone midwife to see what she thought and she casually offered for me to pop into drop in clinic on Friday which I'm SOOOO glad I went to. Heard heartbeat so felt reassured, she got my blood results and all was fine. BUT she then said as I'm RH-ve blood group, I may need to get my blood checked to see if baby's blood had leaked into mine as if it had and baby was +ve blood type, my body could start producing antibodies to fight the baby which can leave to fetal death etc. if not dealt with. Anyway, she was advised by hospital it wasn't really necessary to check my blood but luckily she decided to anyway. This was on Friday and she told me to phone on Monday. Saturday morning I got a call from the hospital saying my baby's blood HAD leaked into mine and baby is +ve blood type so within a couple of hours, I was down the hospital having an anti-d injection. I asked lots of questions and thought I felt reassured until I researched more (because I knew I should have had this within 72 hours of fall and it wasn't done until 96 hours after). I then phoned midwife yesterday asking more questions and she didn't even know about what had happened and has now arranged for another blood test tomorrow to screen my blood for antibodies. From what I've read on a thread I put in Health section, I was either misinformed when told that baby WAS +ve blood type as the Kleihaur blood test is just to check my blood for signs of fetal blood and therefore they can only say my baby MAY be +ve OR, they did in fact screen my blood and found antibodies in which case that would prove my baby WS +ve blood type. Anyway.....I'm having blood test tomorrow and hoping I'll get results on Friday and fingers crossed they come back with NIL antibodies!!! I believe if I do show signs of them, it's a lot more monitoring of baby to see what they can do to help as my body will just fight the baby as it sees it as an invader All this from a little fall - how guilty do I feel?!

Have you had your scan yet? How you feeling now? Still not feeling pregnant? I'm not but boy am I looking it!!!

Right, MUST go and sort out Tesco order!!

libraladytistheseasontobejolly · 19/12/2007 22:58

Oh Looney poor you. You've had a rough ride with it. Big Hugs ((((((((()))))))))))
I had my scan today (piccy's attahced on profile along with a couple of DS)
Take care of yourself and I'm sure we'll catch up soon.
LLxx

LOONEYplayingachristmasTUNEy · 19/12/2007 23:22
  • course you had your bloomin scan today lol - we'd just talked about your changed date plus I looked at your scan pic earlier - I really need to try and get some early nights don't I!!! Fingers crossed ds won't be up in the night with his awful cough/cold like he has been!!

Night night and pleased all is well xxx

vinorouge · 20/12/2007 04:05

Hello !

I have been lurking for a couple of weeks but waiting to join. I am due on 26 June, have DD (Ellen) who will be 1 on 13 Jan. Had a scan this week that showed a very active baby so hoping that means all is well - have had a few ups and downs since found out I was pg but feeling happier about things now.

And I plan to have pesto for my lunch tomorrow! As I ate a smoked salmon sarnie yesterday my mate commented she 'didn't know smoked salmon was ok in pg' - I replied that I didn't either but I just fancied it. Ate prawns all the way through last time and came to no harm. Excited about being able to eat pasteurised brie though so thanks for the tip.

I can't sleep tonight hence the small hours post

debinaustria · 20/12/2007 07:24

Welcome to the club vinorouge!!

LOONEYplayingachristmasTUNEy · 20/12/2007 08:35

vinorouge - welcome

And I'm so pleased about the Brie.....bring on the brie

mellymell · 20/12/2007 08:49

morning all

Welcome vinorouge - hope the name implies you are a fellow drinker of the red stuff.

And well done on the pesto front - don't worry, I won't have another rant like I did yesterday. Just put it down to boredom at the office.

Also, Libralady - please stay. EDDs are very vague - my first pregnancy was 2.5 weeks out. very annoying.

We had a small christmas celebration with our child minder so got to eat smoked salmon (yum), but not prawns or pate (boo). All very jolly, although never think that Christmas hats from crackers do anything for me.

nettiehay · 20/12/2007 10:01

I had 2 christmas parties yesterday (one for my current office, one for my old office) and I admit, I ate prawns at both... and enjoyed every minute! I also had a small red wine at the second party, and slept so well last night (for the first time in weeks).

Libralady please stay - I already feel like a member of the club after only and week or two, so you definitely are too!

Upsidedowncake · 20/12/2007 18:35

Poor you, Looney, I'm sorry you and your family have had a tough time. But good news you have your childminding situation sorted.

Very quiet on this thread today. We're obviously all too busy gorging ourselves on prawns, pasteurised brie and smoked salmon.

Hope you all have nice evenings. Is it snowing anywhere in the UK?

josey · 20/12/2007 18:49

mmm im having dreams of brie and bacon sarnies.

not snowing here but it has been blooming freezing the frost is so think it looks like snow, was -7 yesterday.

looney what an awful time you will be glad when a new year starts. out of interest were you not given anti D after your ds?

LOONEYplayingachristmasTUNEy · 20/12/2007 18:57

All this talking of brie is making me hungry and as for brie and bacon.......

Not snowing here either but VERY cold and frosty garden all day which looked like think layer of snow!

Josey - I'm not sure if I was given anti-d after ds. I certainly don't remember having one but that may be because his blood type was also negative so wouldn't be needed. Anyway, Antibody test at 8 weeks was NIL so that means all must have been ok whether they did/didn't do after ds's birth. So looks like my fall last week IS the cause (unless sex or something can do it??? ). I've been told I MAY get my blood test results tomorrow or Monday so FINGERS CROSSED. I just want them to say NO antibodies found and I'll be very happy!

Right, off to put mindee to bed and then clean up the kitchen.

LOONEYplayingachristmasTUNEy · 20/12/2007 19:15

Meant to at upsidedowncake too - sorry! Thanks for the message, I hope New Year is better. Today also had more bad news.......my grandad's wife (whose basically our step-gran as always been around since I remember) was diagnosed with lung cancer this morning and may not be out of hospital for Christmas

vinorouge · 20/12/2007 21:04

Mellymell - you are right my name means I am red wine drinker in normal life. Not had any lately though.....maybe a few drops over xmas though.

In my jan postnatal thread we have just opened our secret santa presents so it was quite exciting really. I got a sanctuary gift set so a pampering night is on the agenda for me soon.

I don'r work on thursdays so had a nice day with friend and ds over for coffee, swimming with ellen this afternoon followed by coffee with another friend and her ds then a non mum friend over for dinner. I feel quite social today but there is a lot of washing up and I am ready for bed. DH out at footy so not home til 10ish....I might be asleep by then!
