Thought I'd make a thread for us ladies who have been through IVF & finally graduated ❤️ would be lovely to have some company from people who "get it"

@Prema112 @GingerBrummie in fairness I imagine my bump is a large % food as well 😂

@Prema112 how scary that must have been for you but so glad you managed to get checked over & have a scan. What a relief that baby is all good but it's so weird that they can't see where it is coming from. Hopefully that means it's a bit of something & nothing & will stop soon. You do see a lot of stories on here very similar to yours so it clearly can & does happen a lot!
Least, as you say, you can actually look forward to your scan now!

@Prema112 sorry to hear about the added stress but Im glad your scan went well. Good luck for the 12 week scan tomorrow x

Etonmess20 · 17/11/2021 07:13

@Prema112 hope everything goes well with your scan today!

@Prema112 awwww what a lovely picture 🥰

GingerBrummie · 18/11/2021 08:03

@Prema112 beautiful picture! You must be so relieved. When can you find out the gender?

Prema112 · 18/11/2021 08:07

@GingerBrummie @Etonmess20 Thank you! I think gender reveal isn't until 20 weeks. I've actually got another scan at nearly 14 weeks as baby was hiding and she couldn't get all the measurements

Etonmess20 · 18/11/2021 08:15

@Prema112 granted not ideal she couldn't get all the measurements but it's nice to have another scan to look forward to in a couple of weeks ☺️ we're still firmly on team green & wont be finding out I don't think, although I have boy in my head! Exciting that you'll be finding out though!

@GingerBrummie will you find out too do you think?

OP posts:
Etonmess20 · 18/11/2021 08:20

I meant to say actually - unsure if you've had/having combined testing with your 12 week scans but I had mine done & received Down's syndrome results very quickly but waited & waited for the Edwards & Pataus results (was told it would be upto two weeks). It was two weeks yesterday so decided to call the hospital, for them to tell me they'd only done Down’s testing as that was all I'd asked for....clearly not or else I wouldn't be calling would i?!
I was really concerned as I'm now too far along for them to repeat the tests they'd need to do but thankfully they were able to use what they already had & call me back within a few hours to say I was low risk (& send out full results in post)

Isn't it concerning to think I could have been high risk but had no idea? 😬

OP posts:
Prema112 · 18/11/2021 13:01

@Etonmess20 Was it a blood test? She tried to look for fluid behind the neck yesterday on scan but baby wouldn't cooperate

Prema112 · 18/11/2021 13:22

That must have been such a worrying wait for you!

Etonmess20 · 18/11/2021 13:28

@Prema112 it's done with a combination of the neck measurement & the blood tests that you usually have on the same day.
I wasn't worried in the sense that they said they'd contact me if they came up high risk & they didn't so I thought it was more post delays but as it turns out I wouldn't have been made aware even if I was high risk, which is the most concerning thing!
Hopefully baby wants to behave for your next scan!!

OP posts:
Prema112 · 18/11/2021 13:33

Ahh I see! Yeah that's not great. Hmm I didn't have any blood taken, maybe at the next scan

Etonmess20 · 18/11/2021 15:10

@Prema112 that would make sense because they need the measurements & the blood sample to be very close together (ideally the same day)

OP posts:
Prema112 · 18/11/2021 15:20

@Etonmess20 Ahh I see ok I'll expect a blood test at the next scan then. @GingerBrummie I'm looking forward to seeing a twin scan 😊

GingerBrummie · 19/11/2021 09:20

@Prema112 I hear its common to have to go back & get rescanned if the baby isnt cooperating when they try to take the measurements. Only couple of weeks & as Etonmess said, its a bonus as you get another scan!
@Etonmess20 its quite bad how they misunderstood you & good that you followed up. I will make sure I announce it when I go for mine! Although great news that you’re low risk.
Im impressed you’re not finding out the gender, how will you shop?! Im not that patient sadly!
Because of my age, Im having NIPT at 10 weeks which tests for downs/ edwards/ plateau but is 99% accurate as its done on a DNA blood test. The NHS is more of an algorithm which takes lots of factors into account including age so I may automatically come up as high risk as Im 39 but in reality may not be. I will still do the combined testing but Im doing the NIPT privately & they can also tell you the gender from the blood sample, so I will find out then.
Im still suffering from sickness 24/7 is so horrible & nothing helps, Ive bought a wristband thingy so will try that too.
Happy Friday x

Etonmess20 · 19/11/2021 09:38

Happy Friday ladies!!

@GingerBrummie what I don't get about it is that you fill a form in to give to them with what tests you want & it's quite simple (no tests, one test or both tests) I think the problem was when they processed it that they didn't do it right & just recorded me as wanting the Down’s test done. We're both happy to not find out & we both like quite neutral stuff anyway so baby will be dressed in whites & greys & creams etc. obviously I'm more than happy to have them in pink/blue when the time comes but I wouldn't be rushing out to buy lots of gendered stuff anyway.
Yeah the algorithm also adds some weight to the fact it's an IVF pregnancy so my odds are probably higher than the average pregnancy in someone my age (29) with my blood results but it is what it is. Totally get why you'd want to have the NIPT for peace of mind.
Your sickness sounds horrendous too, really hoping it eases off for you soon x

OP posts:
Prema112 · 19/11/2021 09:38

@GingerBrummie oh wow that's an impressive blood test! How long until you're 10 weeks. Finding out gender that early will be fun!

Prema112 · 19/11/2021 09:40

Sorry to hear about your sickness, it's awful isn't it. I'm happy to report that from 11 weeks mine started to ease off very slightly and from 12 weeks it's definitely easing- I hope it is the same or sooner for you!

GingerBrummie · 19/11/2021 14:43

Thanks ladies.

@Prema112 Thats so encouraging to hear, I really hope mine eases like that too, fingers crossed.

Ive booked my 10 week scan on 6th Dec but results take 1-2 weeks & my 12 week scan is 13th Dec. I plan to tell people after I get the results from the 10 week scan, we have our work Christmas party on the 15th Dec so hopefully I will get the results by then so I can tell everyone at work then.

@Etonmess20 neutral colours sound nice, I will probably do similar, although I will need something to be able to tell them apart!

When I was doing IVF, I wasnt wearing make up, perfume, shellac etc as apparently it wasnt good for the embryos. And Im still not! Are you girls back to wearing perfume etc? I want to feel like a woman again!

Etonmess20 · 19/11/2021 15:22

@GingerBrummie that is very true, some people paint a finger nail don't they? Bet Pinterest has some good ideas!
I'm actually so excited to see your scan, it'll be amazing seeing them both in there!
The only time I didn't wear perfume, make up, gel nails etc was on egg collection & egg transfer days as that's all we were told

OP posts:
GingerBrummie · 20/11/2021 07:55

@Etonmess20 thanks, I think I will slowly move towards wearing make up again!
Happy weekends, I hope you both have nice stuff planned x

Prema112 · 20/11/2021 14:04

@GingerBrummie I never really wore makeup or nail polish anyway so it wasn't difficult not to do it on transfer day! I did find it funny that the embryo would be sensitive to things like that, it's so tiny!! Did you guys get a photo of your embryo?

Prema112 · 20/11/2021 14:05

Also just to add that sadly sickness has come back with force today! I've also had back cramps since last night, have either of you had cramps? They are quite disconcerting but apparently normal 🤷‍♀️
