Thought I'd make a thread for us ladies who have been through IVF & finally graduated ❤️ would be lovely to have some company from people who "get it"

@Prema112 thanks & sorry to hear your feeling sick, have you tried any remedies?
Im due 29th June so I may join a July group, as its so close. Thus far I have zero symptoms & I want them! But I keep telling myself lots of people dont have any & still have healthy pregnancies.
Ive got my scan at my clinic on the 11th Nov & it cant come soon enough! Ive also self referred for my 12 week scan. Im 5 weeks tomorrow, how many weeks are you? Is your next scan your 12 week one?

Prema112 · 26/10/2021 20:18

@GingerBrummie I haven't taken anything for the sickness as I find it's weirdly reassuring and I'd start panicking if it got better! So silly to want to feel ill. I only starting feeling sick at 6 weeks though. I'm 9 weeks tmw and I've had 2 scans already as I've had some spotting. My next scan is at 10 weeks to check on a bleed they saw on the last scan. Can't wait to be out of the 1st trimester, it's been the longest few weeks of my life I think. I had a twin MMC 3 years ago so I'm quite paranoid

GingerBrummie · 27/10/2021 10:00

@Prema112 yep I know the feeling, I also want to be out of first trimester! Ive decided to book a harmony test as Im 39, its done at 10 weeks and is very accurate, I dont think I will relax til I get those results. Strange to think a couple of weeks ago I was panicking I will never see a bfp & now I have it, Im panicking over something else. Good luck for the next scan X

Prema112 · 30/10/2021 12:00

Hi @Etonmess20 & @GingerBrummie how are you both getting on? My sickness disappeared last night and I was worrying, it's back now and I wish I'd just enjoyed the reprieve 🙄

Etonmess20 · 30/10/2021 12:04

Happy Saturday @Prema112 I'm not too bad thank you, I'm 12+1 today & feeling absolutely exhausted! We're season ticket holders at my DPs favourite football team & are taking our young nephews with us today....do not have the energy so hoping they're going to behave lol😂😂
I've had a bit of cramping & brown spotting the past couple of days, nothing I haven't had before so pretty sure baby is fine in there but not nice either way. Got my 12 week scan on Wednesday which is super exciting & will be glad to see everything is fine.

How are you? Sorry to hear your sickness has returned. I haven't suffered with it at all but it must be horrendous, nothing worse than being sick! Have you got anything planned today or just a chilled one?

OP posts:
Prema112 · 30/10/2021 12:18

@Etonmess20 Wooo congrats on 12 weeks that must feel great! And not long until your scan too 😊 Ergh sorry to hear about the spotting and cramps, it's horrible isn't it, but very normal and I'm sure it's all fine. And I love your positive attitude.

Haha, football game sounds so tiring!! I hope they are good for you! I have no plans ever really except lying on the sofa as much as possible. Luckily I've had this week off and we are at my parents so my son is well entertained! I'm meant to be going to a friends for dinner but I'm gonna have to cancel as evenings are when I feel most sick (also they are doing burgers with blue cheese sauce and they know I love blue cheese sauce so not sure how I'd avoid that!)

Etonmess20 · 30/10/2021 18:58

@Prema112 it does feel good & will feel better after Wednesday when we know everything's all good in there. I'm trying really hard to be positive lately, I was really struggling around week 9 with constant negative thoughts but we had a scan & all was good so just trying to ignore myself!
My (rational & unpregnant) DP said "but you've had nothing to suggest something IS wrong" & you know when you're like hmmm you're actually right 😂😂

Bet it's been nice to chill this week & see your parents but a shame you have to cancel your dinner plans. How far along are you now?

OP posts:
Prema112 · 30/10/2021 22:14

@Etonmess20 Sounds like you've got a great dp keeping you on track! So nice you've had an early scan very reassuring isn't it.

I'm definitely feeling less sick today, I'm 9.5 weeks. But I'm trying to enjoy it rather than worrying, maybe I'll be able to eat a meal tmw at my mums birthday lunch?! I'm very much looking forward to my scan on Friday though! X

Etonmess20 · 31/10/2021 07:44

@Prema112 it's just so much easier for them to see things more rationally isn't it? & when I actually said to him how awful & anxious I was feeling he said he'd be happy to get a private scan (we'd already had our IVF hospital scan at 7 weeks) & it did really help. Even now if I'm worried I watch the videos they sent to me & watching the heartbeat really reassures me.

I do think from what you read that your sickness probably will start fading away over the next couple of weeks & you should be able to eat a bit more normally. Fingers crossed you can enjoy your mums birthday meal too!!
How exciting for your scan!! Is this a private one? Do you have a date for your 12 week scan because that isn't too far away for you really

OP posts:
Prema112 · 31/10/2021 08:53

@Etonmess20 Aw that's so lovely you got a video! How special! I've got a video of our embryo doing it's first cell divisions after fertilisation which just blows my mind whenever I watch it! Yeah, they don't have all the hormones flying everywhere, my husband is so logical and just sure everything will work out which is reassuring!

My scan is an nhs one as I've had some bleeds. I'm in London and it seems you can almost just turn up whenever for an early scan if you have bleeding or pain which is pretty amazing! I know the nurses there pretty well as we had IUI with them before IVF so they know our journey and are always happy to scan me. To be honest the nurse said at the last scan I didn't need another early one but I really wanted one as they saw the bleed and I just wanna know it's gone. My 12 week scan is 17th, so not toooooo long!

Etonmess20 · 31/10/2021 08:58

@Prema112 they sent a couple actually along with loads of photos, definitely makes you feel like you get your moneys worth with these scans (although the reassurance is priceless). I think we need to listen to them more, not sure in rational enough nowadays with all the hormones 😂😂😂
Oh really? Which hospital are you going to? I live in SE London & had IVF at Guys. Nice that they'll scan you if needed & not too long at all now for your 12 week. Your scan this week should be able to keep you going until then too

Hi ladies,
So nice to read everything is progressing as it should & good luck for the upcoming 12 week scans. Im much behind you guys, I am 5 weeks so have my 7week clinic scan on the 11th Nov. I really need that as I dont feel pregnant at all, just need some reassurance & desperately want to see a heartbeat.
@Prema112 sounds like you are with a great hospital to get regular scans, that must be some comfort.
Happy Halloween!

Prema112 · 31/10/2021 18:40

@Etonmess20 The Whittington, I live near Archway. Yeah it's a good policy. @GingerBrummie I know how you feel the days draaaaaag by dont they. I think October 2021 has been my longest month ever, and that's including lockdown months!

I managed some roast dinner for lunch but the beef was quite pink and I wish I'd asked for it to be cooked more 😔 Oh well nothing to be done now. Feeling pretty sick again now. @GingerBrummie I hope you don't get bad nausea in about a week! X

GingerBrummie · 01/11/2021 15:49

@Prema112
Today Ive actually started to feel a bit funny, difficult to explain, I can eat okay & dont feel sick but just a general slight feeling of nausea I think. But it doesnt stop my appetite! Not sure if its the beginnings of MS?
Sorry to hear you’re suffering x

Prema112 · 01/11/2021 16:06

@GingerBrummie Sounds like it could be! I've never lost my appetite really, it's kinda the opposite I just have to eat constantly to feel ok! I've got a massive craving for chicken, the other day I ate an entire chicken throughout the course of the day and today I've just roasted another one! (So sorry of either of you are veggie 😬)

GingerBrummie · 02/11/2021 08:42

@Prema112 at least you’re getting your protein! Grin

Prema112 · 03/11/2021 10:01

@Etonmess20 hope you have a great scan today!!

Etonmess20 · 03/11/2021 10:34

@Prema112 thank you! He was super active this morning despite it being 8.25am - sonographer said he must be an early riser!! My dates put me at 12+5 but he's measuring 13+2 which is nice, though she hasn't changed my due date as they generally don't with IVF
Hope you're feeling well x

Prema112 · 03/11/2021 10:40

@Etonmess20 Oh yay so lovely!! You must feel on top of the world right now! You've made it to the 12 week scan!

Etonmess20 · 03/11/2021 10:45

@Prema112 it all feels a bit surreal if I'm honest as I'm still not convinced I "feel" pregnant or have done the whole way through as I really haven't had any strong symptoms! I do have a bump though & more subtle symptoms so just need to learn to stop worrying! The scan was so good though, the lady was really thorough & showed us their organs, spine, hands & feet etc so that was lovely

OP posts:
GingerBrummie · 03/11/2021 15:56

@Etonmess20 congratulations on your 12 week scan, you must be over the moon :)

Etonmess20 · 03/11/2021 16:10

@GingerBrummie thank you, I feel so much better! How are you doing?

OP posts:
GingerBrummie · 04/11/2021 11:02

@Etonmess20 Im okay thanks but unfortunately nausea has kicked in for the past few days. Im not sick but just a general nauseous feeling all day. Before getting my bfp I used to pray for morning sickness!!! Ive bought some ginger sweets which Ive used before for travel sickness, its meant to be good for any kind of sickness as it settles the stomach but I doubt it will make a vast difference. Otherwise I have my 7 week scan with the clinic next Thurs & it cannot come soon enough. We transferred 2 embryos due to my age & the fact that it was our 3rd attempt so Im keen to see whats going on, I dont want twins but I would just love to see a strong heartbeat, this period of not knowing is quite tough.
Have you now told everyone the great news? Will you tell your work? Did they take bloods at your 12week scan to check for downs etc? X

Prema112 · 05/11/2021 17:12

@GingerBrummie Ahh congrats/sorry for your sickness, I was the same as you, very keen to feel sick but now I'd love it to pass please!! I had a 10 week scan today and saw our little bean jumping around SmileSmile Hope your 7 week scan is amazing!

GingerBrummie · 07/11/2021 08:52

@Prema112 congrats on your 10 week scan! X
