Hi Emma, you are of course welcome to stay. I crash this thread too, as I am officially due on 29 May. I post in this thread and the May one.

teabelly · 23/11/2004 16:10

Emma the charts are the 'ancient chinese birth charts' supposed to be able to predict the sex depending on the month of conception and the mother's age at conception...just abit of fun really, although sometimes spookily accurate

P.S. if you want to find one just google 'ancient chinese birth chart' there are loads of site with them on...it was correct for me for ds, and is predicting a boy this time too!

teabelly · 23/11/2004 16:16

...and re the wedding ring thing...if you do it over your hand it is supposed to predict the sex and number of children you will have, i.e. if it swings from side to side first time, then spins around and then doesn't move it means just 2 kiddies, 1st = boy, 2nd = girl.

Scraggyaggy · 23/11/2004 17:34

Hello all!

Welcome Emma1404 - We've got the same birthday!!

Lipstickmum - I'm not ashamed to say that I have eaten prawns every other day and enjoying them too. (I don't have them in a chinese takeaway though - too dodgy). My scan isn't until the 15th so I know how you feel. I'll be 15 weeks then....

Bubbaloo - I'm intolerant to loads of things too - such a pain at lunch times, especially with the bread thing. I've been having jps with beans, bacon and egg.... mmmm

Katguk and NQWWW - Am v jealous. Do not have piccies of DDs or DSs to post up. Will have to bring a pic of my house rabbit (poor compensation!!)

Sweetheart - I bought myself a floaty style top from M&S to go out in and a stretchy black skirt with a front overlay on the tummy area from Asda for £12. If you're interested I'll see if I can find them online for you.

Teabelly - Pineapple! Me too!!!!

x

Uwila · 23/11/2004 17:55

Ok Welshie..... Where are you? Anxiously awaiting a happy report on your scan....

tick.. tock... tick.... tock.....

LipstickMum · 23/11/2004 18:08

I am going to look at this Chinese Birth chart stuff. Perhaps we should all do it and then test it's 'accuracy' in June

LipstickMum · 23/11/2004 18:11

One chart said a girl, the other a boy, if we do decide to do it we should all use the samme chart I reckon. the first chart I used told me to add a couple of years to my age to get my 'lunar' age, the other one didn't...

berolina · 23/11/2004 19:30

Hi there everyone. Welcome Emma!
Clearly I'm not the only one slowly starting to not fit into clothes! Can basically still fit into most stuff but some of it is getting very uncomfortable. I've always had a 'round' little belly but I definitely look - at least a tiny weeny bit - preggers now! Am so excited. If you're shorter do you actually start showing sooner?
Still feeling fine (don't all shoot me!). Just pretty tired again and am finding work stressful. In fact I think my hormones might be kicking in a bit as I'm quite strung out and it is VERY easy to get me p**d off at the mo (so warning you all ;) !) Anyone else had/have this?

berolina · 23/11/2004 19:31

Awww, why didn't my winky smiley work? Thought you could do it in the traditional computer way. Oh well, here it is

BUBBALOO · 23/11/2004 20:22

evening,
mrs w i cant believe youre also addicted to pomegranates-i am eating 2 or 3 a day and theyre not out of season quite yet.im buying 10 at a time in sainsburys(in essex)and even when we went to devon a couple of weeks back i had to buy some there!!
havent had any bread today-just a couple of 'normal' biscuits which shouldnt make me suffer too much tomorrow i hope, especially as ive got my scan in the morning.
as for the fat jeans-mine were fat jeans to start with so no change there-ha ha ha!!!

BUBBALOO · 23/11/2004 20:42

im finding that im also snapping at everyone but mainly my dh but my memory is awful-i even put the cheese slice in the fridge today instead of the cheese!!
berolina-im just the same.havent been sick at all, have hardly even felt sick and feel basically not alot different from normal except a bit constipated now and then which is great for me as its normally the opposite.
i even asked my doctor if it was normal to feel so well and he said it was nothing to worry about so i guess we should just count ourselves lucky that sometimes this is the case

MrsWednesday · 23/11/2004 20:53

Big relief here Bubbaloo - found some pomegranates in a greengrocer near work so bought six. I'm sitting here now eating one. Ok, two.

Welshmum, hope everything went well today. Check in soon!

Also feeling hormonal and grumpy, but mainly just towards my DH. Poor bloke, no wonder he's working long hours at the moment - he only comes home when I'm asleep!

JennyWren · 23/11/2004 21:21

Hi! I haven't been on for ages - we've been too busy telling our parents... It went really well - I don't think I've ever seen either my Dad or my dh's with such an enormous smile! Mum says Dad still hasn't taken the grin off his face!

We told my parents last week when we took them out for a nice meal to celebrate Dad's birthday - and to break the news. We signed Dad's card "From dh, me and The Bump". Dad gasped and I knew he got it, so I quickly invited Mum to come clothes shopping with me in the January sales..because I'd need some maternity clothes. Within thirty seconds, my parents, my sister, the waiters and just about every diner in the restaurant knew! The staff were lovely - they brought Dad's dessert with a sparkler in it for his birthday, and mine too, because of the baby.

We told my dh's parents when we took them to France for a day trip on Saturday - it was their first trip abroad, so we went for a nice lunch at a restaurant overlooking the beach, and told them the news. They were over the moon, too, and every time anyone mentions the word Grandad, dh's Dad's face just lights up.

Next milestone is the nuchal fold scan, which is on Thursday. I'm nervous, but I'm also really excited. Then on Friday I have to tell my boss at work. She is on holiday next week, and then the following week I am going on a business trip, so it will be my last chance before I go. I'm going with a colleague, and it is going to be a really hectic trip, so I going to have to take it easy and to do that I need to explain why. Otherwise it's just not fair on my colleague - I can't say that I am knackered and go to bed early or rest in the middle of the day, if she is still working like crazy, and not let her know why. I think my boss will be great about it, but I'm not quite sure about my other colleague... We'll see - it's not that she's nasty, just that she is so focused and career-minded, and she doesn't really appreciate that anyone might have priorities outside the office. So keep your fingers crossed for me...

BUBBALOO · 23/11/2004 21:42

hi jennywren,
glad it went well telling your folks-mine were also over the moon.we've told just about everyone now as we were too excited to keep it to ourselves.
best of luck for thursday and telling your boss on friday-hope everything goes well for you

JennyWren · 23/11/2004 21:47

Thanks Bubbaloo. We decided not to tell anyone else until after the scan, just in case. It would be awful to tell loads of people, and then have to say that the pregnancy hadn't progressed or something. Although I think we're probably safe on that score, if my increasing waistline is anything to go by!! I have started to grow out of my trousers, and although at the moment I just look fat, by the time I get back from my trip I suspect that it will be fairly obvious that it's not just too many pies!

katzguk · 24/11/2004 08:58

morning all.

You were all very chatty yesterday!! Welcome Emma.

Did someone decide on a chinese site we were all going to check out the sex on? They always get my DD wrong!!

Anyhow should be working hard!!

Uwila · 24/11/2004 09:06

Good morning all. How is everyone?

I think my tiredness has passed now, and so has the MS. And, HOPEFULLY so have the migraines.

Where is Welshie? She was so nervous about her scan, and now no word. I getting worried that she had less than wonderful news. Welshie, where are you??????

teabelly · 24/11/2004 09:14

Hi there,

Goodluck to all those having scans today, and those of us with them tomorrow too, yipee!

The first site that came up on my web search was number one which is the bog standard chart, but if you want to be able to enter things such as conception day etc coz of long/short cycles then you could use number two

having just done the second one I think I prefer that as it's the first one to say girl for me, he he he

MrsWednesday · 24/11/2004 09:16

Good luck with your scan today Bubbaloo!

Also getting worried about Welshmum - fingers crossed everything was ok for you Welshie.

Still tired here...how many weeks are you now Uwila?

Lipstickmum in thw woman in the know about the chinese calendar I think.

sweetheart · 24/11/2004 09:16

Morning all.

Went home early yesterday with a horrible headache but after a good rest I'm feeling much much better.

Bubbaloo - I did laught at you putting the cheese slicer in the fridge - sounds just like the sort of thing I'd do!!!!

Scraggy - thanks for the clothes idea. we are taking dd up to London on Sunday to see father xmas in Hamleys and do the xmas lights so I'm gonna have a scout about for some maternity gear then - or maybe just some elasticated waists!!!!

I've always found that the chinese charts don't work. They always get it wrong for me nd my dd!!!

I got my scan date through this morning and it's on Monday!!!!! I'm quite shocked that it's so soon. Now I'm wondering.......

I think I will only be 9weeks 4days on Monday but the midwife thinks I might be 14 wks 1 day. Will they be able to do the neucal testing if when I go for the scan I am only 9 week - or will they have to do another scan in a few weeks??? I'm a bit concerned because I've heard that lots of early scans can cause dislexia (sp??)

Does anyone know??????

MrsWednesday · 24/11/2004 09:17

Sorry, typing is awful today!

Thanks Teabelly, will have a look at both of them straight away. Can't be arsed with work this morning...

katzguk · 24/11/2004 09:19

ONE - girl
TWO - boy

guess one of them is correct!! but both said that DD should be been a boy!!

teabelly · 24/11/2004 09:26

Sweetheart you need to be 11+3 to 13+6 for them to do a nuchal scan, HTH

sweetheart · 24/11/2004 09:38

So does that mean if I am only 9 weeks that I'll have to go back for another scan????? Or will they leave it until my 20 wk scan???

MrsWednesday · 24/11/2004 09:39

One - girl
Two - girl

The first one said boy for my DS but the second one said girl.
