After reading these posts i have a sudden craving for Beetroot and Cottage cheese!

charleypops · 09/11/2004 18:27

Scraggy, I do try to eat well, but generally have to work my self up to it throughout the day. Unfortunately, half way through my 5 fruit or veg I tend to lose my will to eat. However, I have right now in the oven a generous portion of fish and chips, and a huge load of peas to compensate!

Sweetheart, I'm in Weybridge, there's a few of us round this area I think..

Tessiebear! I'm not sure I'd have survived without beetrrot lately, the addition of cottage cheese was a very recent happy accident. mmmmm.

UWILA!! What can I say! I need to send you a HUGE THANK YOU for your timely advice regarding St Peter's. I to the doc's tonight to tell him I didn't want to go there and he was absolutely lovely, and very diplomatically said he understood. Straight away he said Kingston wouldn't take me (I guess they are very popular), but did suggest Guildford and Frimley. He recommended Frimley in particular for me so he's writing to them tonight and hopes I'll have my neuchal there at 12 weeks! I am SO RELIEVED, as is my mum and dp

katzguk · 09/11/2004 18:28

sophmum big hugs to you and i hope that next week brings good news.

As for sweets i'm on two packets of fruit pastels a day at the moment!!!

MrsWeds we will have to try a northern meet-up i'm just down the road from you in Sheffield.

LipstickMum · 09/11/2004 19:00

Hi again everyone,

Sophmum, I'm so very sorry to hear about your scan. Will keep my fingers crossed for you, and thinking of you and your family.

New thread, hurrah! Well done Welshmum! Sounds like you lucky buggers are going to get to meet up Have fun though!! Welshmum I hail from North London originally, Barnet area...

By they way, you can all either call me LM or Lippy, any of you have an abbreviation for your nic? I keep wanting to call Welshmum, Welshie, but she might object !!!

LipstickMum · 09/11/2004 19:00

mmmm fruit pastels...

muddaofsuburbia · 09/11/2004 19:07

A new thread!

Told a few people today and got loads of hugs which was lovely. One friend said she'd suspected because I'd been looking a little "grey" recently. I knew I looked awful - I'm just surprised more people haven't twigged!!

Felt particularly sick all day today, but have just troughed out at our local Harvester on chicken and very salty fries - yum.

Also had a hospital appt at the breast clinic (dodgy lumps but nothing sinister). I asked the consultant about wearing underwired bras during pregnancy and he said it didn't matter as long as I was comfy - hurrah!! And he's a breast man, so he must know his stuff!

NQWWW · 09/11/2004 21:14

Well things have moved on since I was last on here! A new thread already.

Sophmum - sorry to hear that things aren't looking good. Fingers crossed for you.

I've just had a fantastic week in Italy (slightly marred by constant nausea which seems to be getting worse by the day and occasional hormonal flare-ups at long-suffering dp). Hormonal flare-ups seem to be increasing in frequency too - really laid into a dog-walker in the park yesterday after my dd had walked in dog shit and I'd picked her up without noticing. And when she answered back I burst into tears - so embarrassing.

Congratulations Charleypops - we have the same due date.

JennyWren · 09/11/2004 21:18

I go away for a few days and when I get back everyone's disappeared off somewhere new!

I feel properly pregnant now - I had my booking in appointment with the midwife on Sunday. It was supposed to be next week, but we managed to bring it forward because my dh has to go away for work next weekend. She asked lots of questions and took a blood and a urine sample, but she was really nice. She gave us a tour around the ward and the delivery room, and it was really nice. She tried to feel the top of the fundus, but it wasn't reachable yet - apparently I have more stomach muscles than I knew! Not that you would think it to look at me - I have definitely developed a pouch...

At least I don't feel quite so sick any more. I still have a bad spell about 10am each morning, but as long as I keep eating I'm just about OK for the rest of the day.

We've started to tell people now though - my dh and I have both told a close friend, and I told my pilates instructor at my class yesterday. Everyone else will have to wait until after the scan, with the exception of our parents, who were're going to tell next week. It is my Dad's birthday, and I want to tell him on his birthday that he's going to become a Grandad! I am thinking about getting him a card, and signing it from me and dh and 'the bump'. What do you think?

Uwila · 09/11/2004 21:31

glad it went well, Charley. Wish it had been so easy for me. My first GP was a real jerk. I went home that day and registered with a new GP.

I know nothing about Frimley. But, I have a friend who had a baby at St. Peters a few years ago. She told me that all of the people who have since become pregnant again with number 2 have gotten into Guildford. Interesting that nobody wants to go back!

Anyway, glad you have a nice GP.

Oh, and if there is ever a Weybridge area meet up, count me in. But, I work full time so I'm never around during the week.

MrsWednesday · 09/11/2004 21:33

Ooh, JennyWren you do Pilates too! Are there any exercises you are avoiding? I haven't been doing it long and after last week my stomach muscles were aching quite a lot (sure that can't be good for me or bean).

I think that's a lovely way of telling your Dad. Or you could buy him something 'grandad' related. Will this be first grandchild?

NQWWW - your dogwalker story really made me laugh. Sorry, I know hormones aren't funny but it really tickled me!

Katzguk, have been to Sheffield many times (I grew up in Doncaster). My nickname is related to my football team actually . Until DS came along we had season tickets.

Lipstickmum, you can call me anything you like, as long as it's nice! MrsW is fine by me.

NQWWW · 09/11/2004 21:38

Where and when is this meet-up taking place, and would it be OK to tag along? And if so, can I bring my dd (with clean shoes)?

charleypops · 09/11/2004 21:47

Hi Uwila

I'm very lucky in that I don't work, so I'd be very flexible if there's ever a meet-up. When do people stop work for maternity leave? Will we be too big and uncomfortable by then?

I'm sorry you had such a 'mare with your first gp. There should be set procedures that they should all adhere to. Important stuff like that shouldn't be so arbitary. Sounds like it's a good job you're quite fiesty otherwise you'd still be going to St P's! Got your neuchals this week haven't you? Good luck with them!

Hi NQWWW! Date Mates! Is this your first too?

JennyWren · 09/11/2004 21:56

Hi MrsWednesday.

My instructor told me that I mustn't develop the stretches, which I think was because of ligaments stretching when you are pregnant, and there was one exercise she wouldn't let me try - it is an advanced bit of a pilates press-up, which made it more like a full press-up. Apart from that, she just told me to take care, and that if I felt faint or dizzy I should stop and lie on my left side. She said that once I reached 12 weeks there would be more exercises that I couldn't do, because of not fighting my stomach muscles' need to stretch out as much as anything else! She did say that I was right to tell her. How many weeks are you now? I didn't really know when to spill the beans, but my friend goes to a different class and when she joined she was explicitly told that if she became pregnant, the instructor wanted to know by 8 weeks, for her safety, so I went with that. I think that if you have been feeling achey, then perhaps it is time to confess. I did ask that she didn't make it clear to the rest of the class until I got to 12 weeks, and she was great about it. She always goes round the class anyway, to make sure that people with back injuries etc don't do certain things, so she just fitted me in with those where it was appropriate.

sweetheart · 10/11/2004 08:24

Morning all!!!

Yes - I'm in work bright and early this morning!!!

Charleypops, I'll be under Frimley. I went there with my dd and I only have one bad thing I can say about a midwife being rather rude but on the whole my experience was fine. Frimley is my local hospital so everyone goes there really and I've never heard anything bad about it. Guildford on the other hand, has had some bad comments in the past. And hey - if Frimley is good enough for Royalty!!!!!!

LM - I don't mind being shortened to SH!!! I usually shorten everyones names without thinking anyway - sorry if I've offended anyone!!

Jennywren - I think thats a lovely idea - your dad will be so pleased, what a brilliant birthday gift!!!

I like the idea of a maternity meet-up. I could get into London when I'm on maternity leave. Can't do it at the moment as I have to work and I'm about an hour outside of London.

Well, felt REALLY sick last night - the worst I have done yet. Had to keep taking deep breaths and gulping to stop myslef throwing up. I REALLY hope this doesn't last too long!!!!

How's everyone else?????

katzguk · 10/11/2004 08:53

SH i'm in nice and early too but forgot bottle of water so had to go and fetch one!!

got scan today bit aprehensive after sophmums post but still reasonbly excited.

am munching on fruit pastels and wishing i'd bought another packet when i did the water run
MrsW - DH works in Donny so he goes there a lot, we will have too meet up at some point, whats you due date again?

katzguk · 10/11/2004 09:01

hi NQWWW just noticed on another thread your DD has the same name as mine!! how old is your DD?

sweetheart · 10/11/2004 09:01

katz,

I'm sure everything will be fine. You'll wonder what all the worrying was about and it will be a beautiful experience!!!!

Is this you 1st???? sorry, I'm crap at remember ing everyones stats.

sweetheart · 10/11/2004 09:01

whooppss, obviously not!!!

katzguk · 10/11/2004 09:04

nope no 2 and possibly 3 and gp and midwife have said!!!

sweetheart · 10/11/2004 09:07

Oh blimey!!!

I had a dream the other night about expecting twins - I think i posted it on here - it was very wierd!!!

Well - massive amounts of good luck then - are you hoping for 1 or 2?

katzguk · 10/11/2004 09:15

one would be great but if there are two in there then hey the more the merrier!!!

MrsWednesday · 10/11/2004 09:22

Good luck Katzguk!! Yes, we will have to meet up, definitely. I'm due 13th June. Why do your GP and midwife suspect twins?????

Girls, can I ask your advice? I'm still having little bits of brown discharge (sorry!) every now and again. It isn't much and it's not all the time, and I am trying not to stress out, but it's really hard. I don't think there is any point going to my GP as they have seem really reluctant to do early scans. They seem to have a 'what will be will be' kind of attitude that isn't very helpful. Is it worth ringing the ante-natal clinic at the hospital directly? I just can't decide what to do - part of me thinks I should just stop worrying, I had this with my DS and I should see it as a good sign. Then the other part of me keeps saying it's bad news.

Sorry for going on, I really don't have anyone else to talk to about it. My DH says I should just do what I think is right, which isn't helpful!

Uwila and Charleypops - can I ask, what's so bad about St Peters? I'm intrigued...

JennyWren - thanks for the info. I told my instructor a couple of weeks ago but I'm going to have another word with her tonight. Have you been doing it long?

teabelly · 10/11/2004 09:25

Morning all,

Katz good luck at the scan today - wow possibly two - not sure I could cope - both dh an I were run ragged with ds when he arrived - hoping that this time around I might get to be in control some of the time

Hopefully meet up will be in London, so far got,
Me,
Scraggy
Welshmum? if can make the 23rd Nov?

Quite happy to meet on a weekend if that's better for people? Be nice to put faces to everyone - you build up images in your head and I bet I'm completely wrong with all of them

Well I've just munched my way through a giant oat biscuit and a marmite toasted bagel for breakfast - so much for 'I'm not gonna eat for two this time'!! And the office stinks of marmite now - nice in my books but from the stares from the boss I guess not everyone feels the same

muddaofsuburbia · 10/11/2004 09:27

MrsW - have you been given contact details of your m/w yet? If so then go straight to her and she can book a scan for you - you don't have to see your GP at any point during your pg if you don't want to.

With ds (and my m/c) I was given my m/w mobile number and she was more than happy to reassure me over the phone and book a scan with no (well not many) questions asked. Your GP surgery should have your m/w 's details to hand.

all the best

LipstickMum · 10/11/2004 09:38

Morning gals, Busy day ahead today, various groups and LOADS of house tidying to do before we go away, will take my mind off sickness anyway. Am going to buy some fruit pastilles on the way to mum and baby group this morning and some of those Haribo chewy things too...

My goodness Katz, twins? That would totally freak me out and we would have to move STAT!!! Lucky you though, if there are two lil beans in there.

Sophmum, how are things today?? Do keep us posted as much as you can/ feel able to.
