i had problems feeding DD but because we have a family history of diary intolerance (due to too early an introduction of diary) i was determined not to put DD through it and therefore fought very hard to breastfeed, we encountered every problem under the sun. but thats just me personally if people want to breast feed than great and if they don't it no skin off my nose!! you have to do what makes you happy. i will be breastfeeding again until at least months but again thats to avoid this diary problem.

katzguk · 15/11/2004 16:04

sweetheart my little sister has just trained as an accountant so i know how hard those exams are.

Uwila · 15/11/2004 16:07

Hey, did we ever sort out a weekend meet-up? Not sure, but I think in picking through this thread that we may have agreed on weekend, and somewhere in London?

Who's in?
What weekends are good/bad?
Any recommendation a place in London that would accommodate the older (soon to be jealous) toddlers?

sweetheart · 15/11/2004 16:13

I use the term "accountant" loosly by the way - if there are any accountants on here they'll probably have my guts!!!! It's more sort of an accountants assistant type roll - I'll have to do a degree if I want to be a bonifide accountant!!!!!

I think I'd be up for a maternity meet up - it's a bit of a trek into London for me.

katzguk · 15/11/2004 16:15

home time for me

Uwila · 15/11/2004 16:15

MrsWednesday · 15/11/2004 16:50

I'm desperately trying (and failing) to do the all the work I'm supposed to have got done today!

Will no doubt be back later though...

Good luck tomorrow Uwila!

sweetheart · 15/11/2004 16:52

well I'm off home in a few mins. Good luck tomorrow Uwila - there was someone else having a scan on Friday wasn't there???? Can't remember who it was???

Oh well, good luck to everyone!!!

mrsflowerpot · 15/11/2004 17:17

Re that breastfeeding thread, it's just my pet peeve that whatever choice you make or have thrust upon you as a parent (and specifically as a mother) there is always someone who can't wait to make you feel bad. That's true for bottle vs breastfeeding, natural delivery vs Caesarean, going back to work or not, etc etc etc. I just hate it when people think it's any of their business to judge others on these things, and I thought there were some really harsh and unkind things said that must have upset people. It's a shame because I think it's a genuinely interesting issue - I've done some work with groups who were working with young mums on just this, and it would have been nice to see some considered discussion of it. But I was still too scared to get involved .

Cobweb · 15/11/2004 17:34

Hi girls well I am going to be the size of a house by the end of this pregnancy. I found today that if I munch every two hours that I haven't felt sick at all.

Tessiebear I feel so different this time. Sick all the time and my boobs are so so sore !!!

Glad it went ok with telling the family (((hugs)))

Lua · 15/11/2004 20:48

Hi there!
I am the other one having a scan this friday! I am having it done in the same place as one of Uwila's scan.
BTW, Uwila, you are brave getting two scans!!! I'm afraid I'll get paranoid with whatever results I get... If I have two of them I might short circuit!
I am going the opposite way that most of you. I'llbe 12 weeks on friday and I started puking last weekand today I am covered with pimples. I though this week things were going to get better!

Sophmum, sending you loads of good vibes!!

Jezebel · 15/11/2004 21:46

Sophmum thinking of you. I live near Cirencester. My nearest hospital is Cheltenham. Reallly really rooting for you.

pandagirl03 · 16/11/2004 00:03

hello were is everyone from just noticed a few are from near cirencester im from gloucester.

good luck to everyone who has scan's coming up.

Mirage · 16/11/2004 09:11

Hi,Haven't been on this thread for a while, but have been trying to keep up with everyone.

Sophmum,I am keeping everything crossed that your scan today has a happy outcome.

Goodluck to everyone else having scans this week.

I had an emergency scan on Saturday, due to spotting & loss of symptoms & now have a revised due date of 6th June.My original 12wk scan was booked for 15/12,when I should be nearly 16wks,but that has been cancelled now due to my emergency scan.

I'm not feeling so sicky now,but have had a real problem with spots. This pregnancy is so different from my last one-with dd I had no m/s & just bloomed from the start.Although I did bloom so much that I put 4 stone on.

MrsWednesday · 16/11/2004 09:13

Thinking of you Sophmum. Sending tons of positive vibes your way.x

Was panicking yesterday, couldn't find this thread anywhere!

Mrsflowerpot, I agree with you - that thread was shocking, I just can't believe how judgemental and unpleasant people are. I just don't understand why women want to make other women feel so bad.

Uwila · 16/11/2004 09:28

I too agree about the harshness of various topics (including breast feeding). I think it's at least partly down to human behavior. It all too easy to speak before you think when you can hide behind a computer screen and a userid that bears little or resemblance to your real name. So people just lash out and say anything.

I think you have to put on your thick skin before joining one of those potetially controversial topics.

sweetheart · 16/11/2004 09:31

Morning,

I'm glad to see that the people on this thread are normal, rational and polite people. I think some people get totally out of control on here and I agree with Uwila that it's probably due to the fact your on a computer. I don't think half the people would normally dare say things like that to peoples faces.

I'll rest easy today knowing I have a friendly bunch of people to chat to and share views with WITHOUT being unfairly judged!!!

Uwila · 16/11/2004 09:33

Lua, at first I thought yeah I'll get two pics and get to see the baby twice. How cool. But, after reading Myfairlady's thread about her DS baby, I've started thinking what will I do if that happens to me. And, then I thought, now what will I do if the two scans come out with totally different outcomes. I've decided if they are radically different, I'll go with Fetal MEdicine Centre (as they are in my opinion the experts).

Well, scan 1 is today at 4:20. I'm definitely looking forward to it. He/she better be nice and healthy just to make for this bloody migraine which is STILL linguering. ALthough it is much better than yesterday so it should be over by the end of the day... i hope!!

Hope everyone else is well. ThinkI'll go find some food... speaking of blooming (it makes my arse bloom nice and big.)

MrsWednesday · 16/11/2004 10:37

Uwila, I've been thinking the same since reading my fair lady's thread. It was heart-breaking, absolutely heart-breaking. I'm almost too nervous to book my nuchal scan now.

Uwila · 16/11/2004 11:29

It doesn't have me reconsidering the nuchal scan. Either way, I would want to know. I have gotten as far as knowing if it is high risk, then I will go for cvs straight away, but only if it is high risk, which I am defining as 1 in 250 or higher. The big dilemma is if it comes back positive for DS, then what???? Oooooooo.... what a horrible decision. Not sure what I'd do then...

Poor Myfairlady. My heart just breaks for her.

Sorry about the grim topic, everyone. I just think it's important to know what I'm going to do with this information before I get it today at 4:20.

Tessiebear · 16/11/2004 11:38

Morning all - thanks for all your good wishes re: telling my family - you are right it is a releif nd i can just get on with my Pregnancy!
Sweetheart - i am doing the AAT exams too! My DH is a chartered accountant and has his own business - i help out with the easier stuff. I have passed up to the intermediate and was planning to do technician level next sept (think i will shelve it for another yr or 2 now!)
Mirage So glad you are ok after your spotting
Uwila Good luck with your scan today!
Sophmum - thinking about you
Welshmum - it is really nice having someone close to you who is also pregnant. I am hoping that my sister wont be far behind me and that we will at least be pg together for a few months

Feel ok this morning after a whole night of tossing and turning feeling really sick
Never had this night sickness before in pregnancy - roll on 12 weeks - might look in the classifieds for a time machine...
P.S - wasnt around yesterday and didnt see the breastfeeding debate - can anyone do a link for me so i can have a nose!???

Tessiebear · 16/11/2004 11:40

good idea Uwila - i think it is a good idea to have possible outcomes fixed in your mind.

sweetheart · 16/11/2004 12:27

Tessiebear - I'm really struggling with the technician level of AAT!!! I only did it because I passed Intermediate - and christ knows how that happened!!!! If I were you I'd leave it until you are fully comitted to putting in the time and effort required - I'm just not at the moment and my work is suffering because of it - I will keep on though, you never know a small miracle might happen!!!

There were several breastfeeding debates arging yesterday, it had a knock on effect in many threads - there was also an interesting one about men, porn, wanking and strippers!!!!!

Anyway - the inital thread that started it all is this one
