Does anyone know if tea tree oil is safe to apply during pregnancy - have ringworm (joys of working with kids!) and the cream is not without its unknown risks? Anyone able to help

santascRUMPELedsuit · 20/12/2007 11:01

Best to avoid it during early pregnancy Mummywannabe - the oils can be dangerous to LO unless you know what you are doing. They can build up in your and LOs liver if you use them too much. You could try tea treee cream though - it is a much more dilute form. Youll get it in Boots or Holland and barratt.

Ill be back for a chat later. Up last night with LO too. Bleary eyed emoticon

Mummywannabe · 20/12/2007 11:12

Thanks santasrumpeledsuit - will investigate the cream

Afternoon Ladies!!!! Had another scan yesterday and everything is fine. The baby was moving alot and we brought dd along to see and she was so excited. It was just great. Hope everyone else is well.

isaidhohoho · 20/12/2007 13:02

great news paula!

just put my scan pic on my profile if anyone wants a look...

told the 2 DS that the lady at the hospital found a baby in my tummy. They were completely underwhelmed.

Chinese Gender prediction? Do tell?

isaidhohoho · 20/12/2007 14:38

the chinese thing predicted me a girl - which would be good if it came true!

paula - just type chinese gender prediction into your search engine and one will come up.

ocomeALLYebabies · 20/12/2007 16:29

hoho - that's a really nice pic, at yaya for dd being excited! lol hatrick at the kids!

i'm meant to be having a another ds according to chinese calender, and my other 2 should've been girls, i apparently should've been a boy!!

imdreamingofawhiteKITTYmas · 20/12/2007 17:10

Well got my first antenatal appointment through and it's for the 23rd January when I will be 16 weeks pregnant what a joke. It's really made me hearing everyone else getting scans and nuchal fold tests. Am going to phone the MWs tomorrow and basically say I have had more bleeding and don't know if this baby is dead or alive (which is true) and beg for a scan next week. It's a bloody disgrace the maternity services up here.

Chinese predictor has said one boy and one girl for me so far, so it's been right 50% of the time for me, saying girl again this time.

disneystar - welcome wow lucky 7 for you you are officially the grand dame (sorry in terms of DC only)

Hope everyone else is doing ok on this cold December day

isaidhohoho · 20/12/2007 17:16

That is too long to wait Kitty - you need to put your desperate / stroppy head on and give the hospital a kick up the ...

ThreeFrenchHensEEC are you feeling better today? I am with you on the up and down hormones it's a wonder my poor dh even dares cuddle up to me at the moment in case I shout at him to beware my poor norks and burst into tears (they are enormous now gone up 2 cup sizes already and nips starting to shed skin, did the same with ds and they are so itchy and painful I don't know what to do!)

Hormones are a volatile thing at the best of times but when pg? [crazed woman emoticon]

Good thing is the drugs are working I haven't been sick all day! Only had two puke free days since the hyperemesis started so am really grateful for the torpedo like suppositories the hospital prescribed

And Disneystar wow at 7! How big is the gap between this one and your last? I'd love a big brood too.

Agree with others kitty you need some reassurance NOW goddamit!

Hope everyone suffering sleep deprivation is feeling better soon
xx

Minkus · 20/12/2007 17:54

Oh and the saucy dreams have started for me as well but made the mistake of telling dh- and have had to dampen his ardour by promising filth at a later stage (that I know I'll be very up for if this pg is anything like last one) just not at the same time as sickness

MINNIE1 · 20/12/2007 20:56

gosh kitty that is not good at all - farcical in fact

i have my dates scan tomoorrow quite nervous tbh
need nuchal to be over and done with but that is not until new years eve - had bloods taken though already

had a few chats with dh about possible nuchal results (i am older!) and feel really happy with how we feel so am not as stressed as i could be but like to 'know'

feeling a bit better (!) although very very weepy and tearful - not good!

mrsclairet · 20/12/2007 21:55

Hi, I've not posted in a while but thought I would say hi. I had my booking in appointment the other day which went well, the lady was very nice and she said that it looks like I can give birth in their midwife led unit which is a step up from having a baby at home so I am quite pleased about that although they can't give you an epidural!

I tried the chinese predictor thing and it said I was going to have a girl, but then I checked to see if it was right for my sister's baby and it wasn't, so I'm not going to get my hopes up. My DH surprised me at the midwife's appointment by saying he would like a girl but we'll be happy either way.

Anyway I'm feeling quite tired now so am going to go to bed, DH is in bed already as he has to get up at 4.50am!!

imdreamingofawhiteKITTYmas · 20/12/2007 22:15

Evening all am going to phone MWs in the morning and lay it on thick which shouldn't be too hard, 16 weeks first appointment with a MW it's a joke, suppose it's cos I am low risk having 2 normal pregnancies but still.

I tried on some clothes for Saturdays night out and I lok about 4 months pregnant, can't believe it seems to have a bump overnight. Hope it's another good sign, thats been 7 whole days since I last bled surely if it were a mc the bleeding would have continued???

PaulaYatesbiggestfan · 20/12/2007 22:19

yes yes yes kitty
can you feel in when you lie face down on bed? i think you would know if things were wrong ..
my booking is jan 8th but that is only cos i said i did not need to see her - i am paying for nuchal privately as i dont think you can get it on nhs here

imdreamingofawhiteKITTYmas · 20/12/2007 22:29

Paula - I sleep on my front and the last few nights it has felt uncomfortable, I can definitely feel there is something there. If I have to lie through my teeth and break down and cry to MW I will to get a scan. I don't need to see a MW all I want is a scan to reassure me pumpkin is healthy and I will be fine.

libraladytistheseasontobejolly · 20/12/2007 22:32

You go for it Kitty.

PaulaYatesbiggestfan · 20/12/2007 22:34

wasn't it you who had a doppler and loaned it to a friend?

I am such a bore ( i know!) but if i have relied so heavily on mine for reassurance..

i truly believe if you stamp your feet you will get one - are youin scotland? there must be an epu near you somewhere. i woud go the doctor tbh and weep - a little foot stamping and asking to speak to practice manager should do the trick

good luck

imdreamingofawhiteKITTYmas · 20/12/2007 22:38

No I don't have a doppler sadly.

I was at the GP last week and he told me to go home and rest and enjoy Christmas with my family aslo if I were to mc theres nothing I can do about it anyway

Will phone MWs direct am going to lie and say bleeding has continued I feel really bad but I think I am justified it's not like I wouldn't mind a scan to see the baby, I want to know everything is OK I am going out my mind.

Last time I phoned MW and got the one who delivered DD2 she was lovely and arranged for me to go to EPAS and be scanned a few days later.

ocomeALLYebabies · 21/12/2007 07:30

kitty - i cant see why having normal previous should make a difference. i hate it that with subsequents, mws are less involved, it's not as if you have antenatal care to reassure the mother it;s to check the baby's alright, so why see her every 8weeks instead of 4.....grrr

i think it's diabolical the treatment you're receiving considering your history, i would be very tempted to right a stiff letter of complaint to the head of maternity services, the PCT CEO and the local press. i think you would be justified in doing so and would hopefully prvent other women being treated in the same way in the future. i'm livid for you!

i had a better night with ds1 thank god, bed at 7, awake at 7:30, ds2 is a joke though, o well!
