Hello all, it seems like aaages since I was last on here!!
I have my nuchal scan booked for 8th Jan (first day back at work) and then I got my NHS dating scan through for the 12th. The midwife said it would be a good idea to have them the other way around in case my dates are wrong and they can't do the nuchal, in which case they would charge me twice (ouch!). So despite the strongly-worded scan letter telling me that they only change appointments in case of extreme emergency, I give the NHS a ring. They tell me that they don't do dating scans for nuchal scans, it just doesn't work like that, plus they will date me at the nuchal scan anyway so I don't need both. Ok, I say. Then they tap tap tap in the background and tell me they have an appointment available on the 7th! So now I have my dating scan 24hrs before my nuchal - in the same place. Well if it saves me £160 then that's fine... alas DH will be away on a training course both days so it will just be me and DS. At least I will be able to go back to work with a picture!!
Went to the GP surgery for an appt with the phelbotomist to take some blood to go with the nuchal scan - thought it hurt quite a lot at the time, like she was trying to put the needle through my arm rather than in the vein, but I couldn't look as I was feeling quite queasy anyway (ooof - DS's MMR jab involved him having to have blood taken last week - was trying not to look but then saw little diddy vial of his blood - nearly threw up then and there over the nurses) and now there is a humungous 2-inch purple bruise on my arm!!!! This is her job, to take blood all day - surely she should be a bit better at it?!!
Trousers are getting uncomfortably tight here, is it me or does the low-rise style in particular make for an especially unflattering shape with a bump?? I am hoping that anyone who does actually notice will just think it's an overdose of yule log (which is also the case!!). I am resisting getting out the maternity trousers until at least 12 weeks... I am only 9 weeks and although I know second time around makes it bigger earlier I am sort of in denial about that.
Finally (honestly!) I notice that some celebs have started to announce they are in the club... Lily Allen is 'at a very early stage' so perhaps she's a July-er (are you out there, Lily??), Edith Bowman is due in June, as is Britney's little sister Jamie-Lynne, who is even younger than Bealcain at just 16. (Apparently she was 'shocked' to find out she was pregnant. Did she not ask Britters about it???!)
