What is your due date x

paulaplumpbottom · 06/12/2007 18:22

bealcain, I'm sorry I'm just so curious, are you going to eat it all by yourself or are you serving it up family style?

sweetkitty · 06/12/2007 18:33

I don't think I could bear to eat the placenta (am veggie and it looks too much like liver) I think it would be like eating one of your fingers (sorry). I had a good old nosy at it though before the MWs carted it off, very interesting thing it is too.

paulaplumpbottom · 06/12/2007 19:44

Really? I didn't get to see mine. I was pretty out of it though.

PaulaYatesbiggestfan · 06/12/2007 19:49

i think it is the sight of mine that causes my post delivery vomits!

PutThatInYourPipeandSmokeIt · 06/12/2007 19:49

gosh it's huge - it comes out looking like a tennis ball and then they unroll it and it just keeps on comin'!! Very impressive organ!!!

I am so very very impressed with all of you mummies on your 3rd or more. I would love 3 and am currently PG with no.2 and starting to have a sense of humour failure and wondering what I've let myself in for. I must pull myself together and I really hope that it's just the hormones talking

paulaplumpbottom · 06/12/2007 19:51

If I make it that far I must ask to see it

PaulaYatesbiggestfan · 06/12/2007 19:54

like a giant lump of grissly liver ....shudder

MrsWednesday · 06/12/2007 20:52

I had a homebirth with DS2 - didn't eat the placenta but one of my cats was very interested in it (I'm sure she'd have taken a bite had she been allowed). Mine was huge, I'm sure it was bigger than DS2.

Scan tomorrow morning, not confident that things will be well as I just don't feel properly pregnant. At least I'll know one way or another.

(sorry to be so doom and gloom!)

paulaplumpbottom · 06/12/2007 21:02

Mrs Wednesday I'm sure things will go great tommorow. Try not to worry

MrsWednesday · 06/12/2007 21:37

Thanks Paula

minFrostytheSnowman912 · 06/12/2007 21:50

They asked me if I wanted to see my (or his as I believe in DNA terms it's the baby's, not yours) placenta after DS, and I said no thanks, thinking, I have a baby to look at, why do I want to see that, and they were rather insistent 'are you sure?? last chance!!' but I made them take it away.

I'm not especially squeamish, just didn't really fancy it...

Called the GP surgery today to find out what has happened to my midwife appt, and they got in a bit of a state as apparently no-one has ever requested to see another midwife before and they don't seem to know what to do. I'm frankly surprised... but I'm going to stick to my guns. Even if that means booking my own scan!!

isaidhohoho · 06/12/2007 22:29

good luck for tomorrow MrsWednesday.

Am cos my scan appt still not arrived. Got excited this morning at brown nhs envelope, but it was only my free prescription card. But I suppose that means the doc didn't just chuck all my paperwork to one side and forgot about it!

Good luck tomorrow MrsWednesday, let us know how you get on.

Am feeling much more chilled tonight as finally bought another test and it couldn't have been much more of a BFP. So nice to have an evening without anxiety even if it does all come back tomorrow!

bealcain · 07/12/2007 07:47

i've been researching it and think i'll make it into a pate, much like you do with liver. if the family want to eat it they can, but i'm guessing it'll just be me!

mrs.wedensday good luck for today. hope everything goes well, and its a morning appt. so you're not waiting anxiously all day!

MrsWednesday · 07/12/2007 08:46

Unfortunately everything wasn't ok. It was only measuring 6 weeks and I know I'm further along than that, also no fetal pole or visible heartbeat.

Will be going back in two weeks for another scan to make sure but I'm pretty certain that's it for me.

Good luck to you all!

isaidhohoho · 07/12/2007 09:20

Sorry to hear that MrsW
This will be a difficult 2 weeks; thinking of you x

So sorry to hear about your scan today Mrs Wednedsay xx
Santa, I'm glad the accupuncture's helping you, going to see if anythings available near me as sea bands are the only thing I've found useful so far.
Amazed how others are coping with small children as well as sickness- struggling to look after DH + no kids!

paulaplumpbottom · 07/12/2007 11:29

Thats exactly what happened to me the last time Mrs. Wednesday. I know how awful that is. I wish I knew what to say to make it better. I am thinking about you and your family

twinkle1 · 07/12/2007 12:01

Twinkle

sweetkitty · 07/12/2007 12:48

Mrs Wednesday - so sorry to hear your news similar thing happened to me in August, I was told to come back in a week though not 2, can't believe they are leaving you two, they can see any changes in a week.

Twinkle - hope the drugs work for you, I only feel sick and that is bad enough.

bealcain - I think you are mad (in a nice way) some people bury the placenta under a tree as well, you can keep it in the freezer until you are ready to use it.

Not much happening here still feeling yucky

PaulaYatesbiggestfan · 07/12/2007 14:25
