where's awens thread?
Anyone else trying not to plan anything mroe than about 2 days in advance? I mean there are a couple of things in the diary, work christmas do/ wedding etc, but really want to be at home now and hibernate! (builders still here, hopefully last day today)

skidaddle · 30/11/2007 10:53

awen's thread here

suey - no I'm the opposite - am planning all sorts that I will hopefully be able to cancel if baby puts in an appearance - can't bear a long 2 week stretch of nothingness if this baby is overdue (like beckle my mw told me yesterday that she would be extremely surprised if he wasn't at least a week late )

cazzybabs · 30/11/2007 10:56

I god I have got loads of things planned for the next few weeks..startign with dinner tonight!

Caz10 · 30/11/2007 11:05

Definitely planning...although that might all go out the window if they schedule me for a section today, grrr. Had been quite looking forward to LO being a week or so late, and pottering around going out for cake etc!

skidaddle · 30/11/2007 11:06

feeling a bit giddy with all these babies on their way... can't get any work done, just manically clicking on active convos to see if there are any developments - am I a mn addict?

Dreamt last night that I performed a hierarchical cluster analysis (statistical analysis - amani will explain ) to decide what to call our baby. It came out with two options: 'pipe cleaner' and 'biriyani' what do you reckon girls?

Caz10 · 30/11/2007 11:06

Ooh just read that back, don't mean I will get a section today! Just maybe a date for one.

mixedmama · 30/11/2007 11:06

Today.. wow seems like there are a lot babies putting in an appearance today.

OP posts:
mixedmama · 30/11/2007 11:07

caz10 - sorry can't remember what has happened - has your baby gone breech?

Caz10 · 30/11/2007 11:08

skidaddle so far either of these names are better than what we have...NOTHING! eeek!

Your ref to statistics brought me out in a brief cold sweat...flashback to uni...I did marketing so we did a little statistics, I am hopeless at it and was in tears at every assignment!

skidaddle · 30/11/2007 11:09

yeah my DH thought biriyani too MM - since I'm half-Indian and all - very culturally appropriate...

Caz10 - sorry!!

Caz10 · 30/11/2007 11:09

Not sure skidaddle...past few MW appointments have all said head down, no bother, then yesterday she basically said she had no idea where it was! Just that it almost definitely was NOT head down anymore. I though, no big deal, almost 2 weeks to go, it can move, but she said no, scan tomorrow, scheduled for a section if not in the right position! I don't really understand the rush to be honest..

skidaddle · 30/11/2007 11:12

well scan will be good just so you know - are you about 38 weeks now? A bit more? Think it could still turn but will be more and more difficult as there is less room...
do you know about all the positions to encourage a head-down position? (off for coffee but will tell you later if you don;t know already)

mixedmama · 30/11/2007 11:14

BTW Skiid, wanted to say but kept forgettign that i looked at the picss of DD, soooo cute.

Ooooh coffee....

I LOVE maternity leave! I would have been at work for hours by now, I am so happy to be at home!

Thank you skidaddle, that would be fab - I think you have to be mostly in "forward postures" - kneeling over ball, all fours etc is that right? Any info very much appreciated - clueless 1st timer.

From what she was saying I think she suspects trasverse rather than breech, but either way it might be "coming out through the sunroof" as she put it!!

becklebigbump · 30/11/2007 11:41

Oooh exciting stuff going on!
Congrats to JARM, Daniel is gorgeous!
Wizz! Hope you are okay and LO decides to arrive before you get to the AB and induction stage!
Awen, you are probably not on here at the mo but good luck and hope you and LO are okay and that if LO does arrive that DP gets home in time.

Clara, I do like Emma for a girl but it is DH's Sister's name so a definite no-no as far as he is concerned. Glad so many of you like Evie! I only know one other one although am not too fussed about how popular a name is as long as I like it!

Skid, it is quite a depressing thing to hear when the MW say they think you will be late isn't it? I feel now like baby is going to be in there forever!

Caz, hopefully your LO will move again soon, mine was lying "akwardly" (MW's words) a couple of weeks ago but is now nicely head down. I think positions which are good for baby are sitting backwards on a chair (bloke style) and leaning slightly forward, on all fours and leaning forward and lying on your LH side with your right leg over and in front of your left (pillow between legs for support needed for this one). Basically any position where gravity encourages baby to the front of the bump - I am assuming there is more room there for them to move about?

Don't remember being this uncomfy with the DSs but I am struggling to find a comfy position to sit now - lying down is far better! Thankfully is last day of work today (hoorah!) so will not need to be in front of the pooter for much of the day! Got some spring cleaning to do next week and some personalised Father Christmas letters to do for the school but after that I am planning on just relaxing! Am nearly ready now if LO decides to put in an early appearance (highly unlikely), just got to get the cot and carrycot out from loft and pack hospital bag... scary stuff!

Bouncingturtle · 30/11/2007 11:45

Yes, that is what my midwife told me, don't sit back, sit forward and try to have your hips higher than your knees - i.e. try sitting on a cushion.

skidaddle · 30/11/2007 11:52

oh thanks beckle - you saved me the trouble (not that it was any trouble caz10!) - are you quite tall btw caz10? - sounds like the baby still has a lot of room to move about which is good for using positions to get him/her head down. Did your mw say anything about them trying to turn him/her like they do with a breech baby or would they go straight for a cs? Good luck with the scan tomorrow anyway

thanks MM - she is quite cute, isn't she? Pic was taken after her first ever taste of chocolate - hence all the choc stains round her mouth!

I also meant to say to you MM - sounds really promising that you managed to talk openly with your DH about your ILs - have there been any more chats since? It would certainly help if he could tell them why you don't go round instead of pretending you are at work and hopefully that might be a stepping stone towards resolving the issues.

becklebigbump · 30/11/2007 11:54

I find it hard to sit forward though TBH, weight of bump sends my legs to sleep! Can't have legs too far open either as due to SPD I then can't walk easily afterwards!

All good fun (and completely worth it)!

skidaddle · 30/11/2007 11:56

Do you like Eva as an alternative to Evie beckle (although I don't see any problem with calling her Evie even if she is born on 24th - I have a 'christmassy' name as born near Xmas and people hardly ever comment on it)?

mixedmama · 30/11/2007 11:57

It was quite a random phone conversation really but quite calm. Dont know if there will be anymore but at least he sort of accepts that it is partly his responsibility to resolve and i told him that I am still hurt and bitter about the way they were regarding DS and it will take me some time to get over how I feel i was treated, but said i would work at it but it couldnt be one way... watch this space!!!!
