Hola

OP posts:

becklebigbump · 30/11/2007 12:23

I like Eva but DH is not keen. He likes Holly too!

MM glad you seem to be getting somewhere with DH re: the IL situation - every little step is one in the right direction even if it takes time. Sounds as though he is acknowledging the problem more though which is good.

Insy how about Mathilda Grace? Louise? Middle names are hard! My DSs don't have them (family names would be expected and the names are not great - both DH and BIL were teased at school because of theirs) so this LO will probably not have one either.

I am so clever, i am so clever

hi, ive posted on some of the other dec threads and thought id let you all know im getting induced on wednesday at 38 weeks due to my SPD.

im abit worried how im going to cope with a baby and toddler but also excited at the prospect of meeting our little girl.

i am now drinking lots of raspberry leaf tea and massageing my bump with clary sage in the hope it will help me have a shorter easier labour, oh and ive stocked up on the arnica for afterwards too

i'll keep you posted on the details of our new arrival when i get a chance

good luck to everyone else whos due from now onwards

mellymooks · 30/11/2007 12:58

good luck vnmum hope all goes smoothly and quickly for you!

RGPargy · 30/11/2007 13:01

Hi ladies

Had a sweep this morning, but i wasn't really dilated and my cervix was posterior and thick so it looks like i'm going to be a December lady too!!

My tummy's tightening away like crazy here now tho and i've had a bit of spotting, which i assume is all normal so i think i'm going to put my feet up and watch a DVD or summat.

Hope you're all having a good day!

suey2 · 30/11/2007 13:02

oo vnmum, i am no expert, but was told to put 10 drops max of clary sage in the bath or put some on your back, not the bump- who is the aromatherapist- beckle?

Wizzska · 30/11/2007 13:02

MM, I would go for a walk but I'm very leaky and I don't want to have to change my tracky bottoms or make any more mess. The carpet in this flat has really taken a pounding this morning, what with me and DH has just walked mud throughout the whole place from the garden.

Whittington Hosp is very quick to want induction. I'm really not keen on dragging myself there tonight. Will be knackered. Its not as if I had any sleep last night.

skidaddle · 30/11/2007 13:06

wizz - don't let them push you into anything you don't want. Could you have a nap if you're knackered or are you too uncomfortable?

mellymooks is the aromatherapist so she will know about clary sage

vnmum - good luck on wednesday, keep us informed

RG - that sounds very promising - maybe a bit of bouncing to get things moving?

mellymooks · 30/11/2007 13:10

yep vnmum, better to use clary on your back, not bump as very potent oil and could be too much for your little one, i would recommend 6 drops of clary to 20ml of a carrier oil, if you want to improve potent smell a bit add a couple of drops of lavender.

loucee · 30/11/2007 13:11

Skidaddle - DH loves Holly too, I am keen but for some reason don't want to have a final name until I meet him/her.

So exciting these babies coming along for the weekend. I really hope Awen's DH makes it home in time.

MM - I hope things do improve with your inlaws as nothing worse than having problems like that especially once children are involved. My relationship with inlaws is up and down but my DH is aware and can see what I can so it isn't as bad for me cos he isn't one for pandering to them.

After weeks of doing odd bits of cleaning round my house I'm now panicking it's really dirty! I want to clean the skirting boards and oven (again) and make the bathrooms self clean! No energy to do it though!

Looking forward to putting Christmas decs up tomorrow though!

loucee · 30/11/2007 13:19

Meant to say Wizz, if you don't want induction and are knackered how about considering some stronger pain relief to let you rest to build up your strength?

suey2 · 30/11/2007 13:22

had a curry last night. no effect except a lot of wind! woke dh up several times

am now eating a pineapple, had a nice shag last night and have also just eaten some edamame beans. impatient, moi?

wizz - you were planning a hb anyway, weren't you? if you are happy where you are i would refuse an induction as long as you and your baby are comfortable. Hope you are feeling OK - lots of massage and comfort and something nice to distract you (funny film, game of something?) might be a good idea if it is getting a bit stressful.

suey2 · 30/11/2007 13:33

wizzska- we were told about this when we went to the hospital 2 days ago. Our local policy is to wait 48 hours as 90% of labours will start naturally within that time. If there has been any meconium or blood in the water, obviously they don't wait. They sometimes test for strepb which takes only an hour and they usually wait to test for that until they do want you to go to the hospital.

claraquitebignow · 30/11/2007 13:33

Oooh how exciting about everyone's births/immenent births. Good luck Wizzska - whatever happens, you'll have your baby very soon.

Is there a word for when you are jealous of someone who is due after you has their baby before you? I am due tomorrow but can't see it putting in an appearance just yet. I have had quite a few "symptoms" on and off, BH's, crampy periody type pains etc. But certainly nothing that feels like it is coming to much.

Have been doing lots of walking and sex last night. But am not convinced anything will work if the baby isn't ready to come out.

Skidaddle (Holly!) - at Biryani and Pipe Cleaner as names. Your head must be as wierd as mine, in my dream last night my dad told me we had to name the baby "Furze"....What the??!!

skidaddle · 30/11/2007 13:34

lol at waking up your DH suey!!

I don't believe the curry thing anyway - AFAIK the thinking is that curry will give you diarrohea which might stimulate the uterus - as we eat curry most days I don't think it will have the desired effect on me and the idea is just a bit gross anyway...

what are edamame beans?

suey2 · 30/11/2007 13:36

they are the little green beans that look like peas in a pod that you get with your sushi. Really yummy- the most natural form of soy- but give you terrible wind because they are so full of fibre. I am kind of going on the 'whatever gets your bowels moving' approach.

vnmum · 30/11/2007 13:37

thanks mellymooks,
it was my miswife who said to massage the bump. she said to use 2 or 3 drops in a carrier oil and massage in a clockwise direction, once daily from 36 weeks and then increasing to twice daily.

i havent started doing anything yet as i wanted to make sure i was classed as term and that my mum was available to look after DS if it set things off quickly. the midwife said she did what she told me to do with her third baby and her labour was only 2 hours long.

i will do as you say though as i dont want to do any potential harm to my LO.

thanks again for the advise

skidaddle · 30/11/2007 13:37

at furze claraq - actually thinking about it, given that we are the same person and married to identical DHs maybe you should call yours basmati and I should call mine biryani - that would work nicely, what do you reckon?

due tomorrow - wow - hope you have something nice planned so you don't go into that 'my baby should be here by now' mindset

claraquitebignow · 30/11/2007 13:43

Well it's funny you should mention it Skid. I hadn't even thought about it until now but the last thing I want to be doing is moping around the house wondering why I am not in labour.

So I think DH might try taking DD swimming again (this time ONLY if she has a nap), in which case I will go too and either watch or go for a stroll into town (can't actually go swimming as none of my costumes even vaguely fit any more).

Then we have an arbirotoreum (?sp?) near us which has a special Christmas lights extravaganza so might go there on Sunday if the weather is ok.

claraquitebignow · 30/11/2007 13:45

Oh names, the latest we have thought of if it's a girl is Martha Erin - Martha can then be shortened to Matty so as not to confuse dd who will always wonder what happened to the baby she calls Matty in mummy's tummy.

Is anyone else still debating names?

mellymooks · 30/11/2007 13:47

No worries vnmum! There are lots of conflicting bits of advice out there esp. surrounding aromatherapy, I can only go by what I was taught and have witnessed!
It's amazing how even the books I have vary so much on their advice/opinions if in doubt i always meet somewhere in the middle!

suey2 · 30/11/2007 13:51

our MW said she couldn't advise us on aromatherapy, because although she had done a course, it wasn't seen as being within her scope of practice so the hospital policy was to let individuals consult their own aromatherapist/ herbalist. Seems pretty sensible IMO.
