Is Queenie really that bad? Last time DH dreamt we had a little girl called Bere (pronounced Bear) so we were really set on that but everyone talked us out of it. This time I have dreamt both Jasmine and Esme - DH vetoes Jasmine (I like it) but loves Esme (I'm not sure).

EllieG · 04/12/2007 15:16

It's the same with welsh ones - DP is welsh and there are lovely girl's names, but we can't agree on any boys ones. Mind you doesn't help that he vetos everything with 'Oh no that reminds me of old Ifan the miner from the village with the really big hands' or similar

scorpio1 · 04/12/2007 15:16

Esme is lovely!

EllieG · 04/12/2007 15:16

I had a cat called Jasmine. I think it's a lovely name, and not just for cats.

EllieG · 04/12/2007 15:17

Don't count on me soph

scampmum · 04/12/2007 15:18

Rhys
Dylan

Sure there are more - one beginning with M?

EllieG · 04/12/2007 15:20

i like Dylan but am not having a boy, and surname begins with D, so that would be a bit funny sounding. I like Evan/Ioan/Euan/Geraint but he said no to all. Thankfully, that's one less argument we have to have now.

scampmum · 04/12/2007 15:25

Oh Ellie, you great big woose
Jasmine is nice. However, I do have to say were you honestly considering Bere?? How would she explain that to her friends??

scampmum · 04/12/2007 15:26

Durrr - you're having a girl.

Sheds75 · 04/12/2007 15:26

looking at all these cute girls names I'm beginning to wonder why we were finiding it so difficult to think of them. Now we are finding it difficult to find a boys name

scorpio1 · 04/12/2007 15:26

Myfanwy

scampmum · 04/12/2007 15:28

Yes!! In the end that was what put us off - she could carry it off if she were flamboyant and arty, but imagining a poor shy girl not saying anything to anyone at a party because she knew she'd have to explain within a few short minutes that she was a helpless victim of her parents' vicarious quest for individuality... no.

scorpio1 · 04/12/2007 15:30

What's everyone havinf for tea today?

We are having Chilli and chips

SantasNotSoLittleHelper · 04/12/2007 15:34

LOL at Myfanwy See you´re a Little Britain fan as well Scorpio! Do you know it´s always you that makes my mind up what to have for tea Was just thinking what to have with chips (as we´re off on "Chip Day" at school this week) & that settles it

Sheds75 · 04/12/2007 15:35

yummy we are going out for dinner, our last meal out in our favourite pub before we move house at the weekend, surley that means I can have a pudding

SantasNotSoLittleHelper · 04/12/2007 15:37

Only 1 more work day this week then 4 whole days off - can´t wait. We´re also meeting friends for lunch at my utmost favourite restaurant on Saturday it´s going to be fab. Also putting Christmas tree up on Thursday much to the boys delight

SantasNotSoLittleHelper · 04/12/2007 15:37

Sheds - I would say pudding is a must

scorpio1 · 04/12/2007 15:39

Pudding is a must

hee hee, its always me with the food porn!

SuzeM · 04/12/2007 15:40

Sagitta, I'm contracting too. What do you do? I'm a technical writer. My contract finishes end of March anyway so it is good timing.

Grandparents'names: Jack , Peggy, Michael and Nora, don't know dh's.

Esme is very pretty, I think.

I am stuck for names, I still like Alannah but my dh doesn't. There are some Irish names I like - Réiltín, Ailbhe or Líadan -but she will spend all her time spelling it or correcting the pronounciation! My dh wants to name her Suzanne (my name) but we'll call her Suzy. Is it a bit vain, not to mention confusing, to give her the name as me?!

scorpio1 · 04/12/2007 15:42

What about Alani/Alanis? oooooh i forgot about Alanis......

EllieG · 04/12/2007 15:42

Yes - always scorpio who brings up the subject of food. Not that any of us are exactly slow to respond.
I dunno what to cook tonight, am feeling v lazy and my cupboards are looking a bit bare as didn't go shopping this weekend. Think it might be a beans on toast/jacket spud night.

Or
maybe even a chinese hee hee so lazy. Though DP will probably say no on financial grounds as is not the weekend. Boo.

EllieG · 04/12/2007 15:43

Not vain, I think sweet. Lots of boys are named for their Daddy after all

scorpio1 · 04/12/2007 15:44

for lunch i had philly salad and avocado sandwich, cranberry walnut and orange cake (and some wotsits )

SuzeM · 04/12/2007 15:45

I just think of Alanis Morrisette.

You are all making me hungry!
