Toast - did they give you a pattern to make your own slings?

Oooo had forgotten all about the inflatable boobs - the pain is coming back to me now - yes good bras def required.

On the subject of food porn - why am I so weak, I know what Im allowed to eat but I just couldnt stop myself Ive just eaten prawns (I know!!) and crusty bread, followed by cookies (brought for DD) and chocolate, think I should go and eat some fruit now to try and get some balance in the diet.

ToastandMincePieAddict · 10/12/2007 13:46

Slings (wraps) - the making is the easiest bit - you just buy a 5 metre length of jersey weave cotton material (I need to double check with the lady at the slingmeet for exactly what I ask for when I go to the shop, as I know nothing, but basically it's slightly stretchy material like T-shirt material)
Then you cut this in half length ways, giving you two for the price of one! If you get this jersey weave, apparently it doesn't fray, so no need for hemming or any other sewing malarkey!

I'll try to find a website showing how to wear it, as I know I'll make it sound really complicated if I start to describe it. But I can still remember how to do it, which is impressive, and "Bob" the baby felt really secure.

at scampmum! yes you can just dont ome to Cornwall Most people spell it Riley though.

scampmum · 10/12/2007 13:50

Ooh, I have an old jersey sheet that I dyed in the wash - maybe I should cut it up and we can all have APRIL THREAD slings? (Shall I tie-dye it first for distinctiveness?) I used the Baby Bjorn all the time last time (DD had colic and reflux and hated being on her back, plus our pram was really bulky) but it did knacker my back.

Denny185 · 10/12/2007 13:56

That would be great toast, I have been looking at the hugabub and close carryones but thinking a few £ worth of material a much better option.

SantasNotSoLittleHelper · 10/12/2007 14:06

Scampmum - I see my midwife once a month so she expects me to only put on 2.2lbs a month However, like I said before that won´t be happening For lunch I had cream of veg soup, chicken in bacon sauce, salad & potato croquettes .. then cake

ToastandMincePieAddict · 10/12/2007 14:11

OK, just done a quick google search and found this video

If you are feeling at all emotional though, it may make you blub - in a "oh my god, that is so cute way". You have been warned

SantasGotABigFatEllieG · 10/12/2007 14:14

I want to use I sling but am worried about making it all wrong and the baby falling out.

scorpio1 · 10/12/2007 14:15

SantasGotABigFatEllieG · 10/12/2007 14:16

SantasNotSoLittleHelper · 10/12/2007 14:23

scorpio1 · 10/12/2007 14:23

SantasGotABigFatEllieG · 10/12/2007 14:23

It is. I told you it is.
My festive name is very apt.

ToastandMincePieAddict · 10/12/2007 14:23

Oh come on Scorpio, like your eating habits are going to make Ellie feel any better!

I've had:
A bowl of cereal and cup of tea
half a satsuma
four shortbread fingers
beans on toast
packet of Wotists
3 greek style yoghurts with a scary number of calories
hot chocolate
3 jaffa cakes

Denny185 · 10/12/2007 14:23

Toast thats great, will have to invest in some stretchy material (a DH who does the new born baby thing would be great too - how cute was that video, my DH does children once they have head control reluctant till then dont think hed be doing the sling thing)

SantasNotSoLittleHelper · 10/12/2007 14:24

Just to make you all jealous, I can go home at 3.35pm now as there are no after-school clubs. Also only another 8 working days left until we break up for Christmas - yay

SantasGotABigFatEllieG · 10/12/2007 14:24

I'm only half way through the day mind. It won't stop.

SantasGotABigFatEllieG · 10/12/2007 14:25

OK. It might have been more than 4 chocolates. I just stopped counting at 4.

scorpio1 · 10/12/2007 14:26

ahhhh, the truth will out!

scampmum · 10/12/2007 14:35

You win, Toast! You're all making me hungry. My sister and I made a cake yesterday that failed to rise - so I can tell you that it's surprisingly easy to eat 3/4 of a thick pancake. I also managed to make some amazing blueberry coulis-stuff to go on top which helped. (It was supposed to be lemon drizzle but we only had one lemon which we needed for the cake.) Obviously that was on top of my three big meals. Made DD egg-fried rice for tea and she wolfed it down like there was no tomorrow. It was almost scary. (DH's family has a history of, erm, rotundness.)

ToastandMincePieAddict · 10/12/2007 14:40

In my defence, I struggle to eat much in the evening (dinner last night was toast!), so I will slow down a bit from now on

But then the evil Sainsbury's made me buy a Pear and Blackcurrant crumble yesterday And cream. Was delish, still 3/4 left in fridge, yay!
