EllieG · 26/11/2007 13:17

Oh yes. And same goes for custard and chocolate for similar calcium-related reasons.

EllieG · 26/11/2007 13:18

You could make some, domestic-goddess-style.
(Not that I have, though I keep meaning too).

Sheds75 · 26/11/2007 13:18

I'm sure cream is an excellent form of calcium

Sheds75 · 26/11/2007 13:21

strange realisation happend at the weekend. I got a belated birthday pressie from my brother and SIL and in the bag were some clothes for LO (my nephew is only just gone 1 year). Was weird to think they were for my child made a little tear come to my eye

northeastmummy · 26/11/2007 13:55

Ha ha ha ... I think this thread is going to be one long food fest! The title will keep bringing people back round to it I'm sure!

Congratulations on a lovely scan elfsmummy. Are there any other scans due today?

Soph73 · 26/11/2007 14:30

ellie - unfortunately you can´t even get the raw ingredients to make the stuff, otherwise I would. It´s bad enough having to trawl the shops to find the dried fruit for DH to make Chrissie cake & then he ends up with cherries & raisins as that´s the only stuff I can ever find!

Soph73 · 26/11/2007 14:33

sheds75 - how sweet. I´m not buying anything until we´ve had the scan on Thursday then DH will have to hold me back

scorpio1 · 26/11/2007 14:34

ooh so you're finding out soph?

what do you think baby is?

Soph73 · 26/11/2007 14:43

Definitely Scorpio, I can´t cope with all the wondering about what it is I´m convinced that it´s a girl because of the shape I am and how I feel. Also all the older Spanish people I know just look and go "it´s a girl". I'm so excited but have also gone into paranoid overdrive

scorpio1 · 26/11/2007 14:44

hee hee i bet you do a me and its a boy!

Why paranoid? are you just worried about the scan?

Soph73 · 26/11/2007 14:56

Yep, every time an appointment draws near I just get this feeling that there´s something wrong, made worse by the fact that I´m not really feeling any movements. Even though I´ve had 2 scans where I saw the heart & he/she wiggled & heard the heartbeat at midwife´s apptmnt.

Soph73 · 26/11/2007 14:57

I become completely convinced there´s something wrong - weird hey? Everyone keeps saying to me "don´t be silly there´s nothing to worry about" & my irrational brain keeps thinking "but you don´t know that." I think I´ve finally cracked

lemonaid · 26/11/2007 15:02

I'm always paranoid just before a scan. Or some time after a scan. Or if there's an R in the month...

bobsmum · 26/11/2007 15:08

I'm only here for Lemonaid's benefit

Due 25th of April, but was originally due 1st of May - please let me off for being on the May thread???

But will hedge my bets anyway and say hello everyone

Have ds who's 5 and dd who's 2. This is no 3 and I'm the size of a house. Hoping for VBAC number 2, but currently paranoid about monitoring at birth etc and have a thread moaning about it. Have the beginnings of SPD again, which is miserable, but bizarrely so far not as bad as when I had dd.

Booked in to Princess Royal in Glasgow, but live almost 2 hours away in the middle of nowhere - hoping to be able to justify a helicopter when labour starts

Peachy · 26/11/2007 15:08

Hi all

Well I must be getting big..... ASDA delivery man (blinkin espace clutch gone so food delivered- argggh) refused to let me carry my bags LOL, and wished me luck- didn't haev the heart to tell him I am only 5 months

Dh dug out some pics for ds1 on Saturday, to show him how tiny he was, and there was one of me at full term (38 weeks, just before induction)- I was smaller than now.

Oops LOL!

Dh properly felt a decent kick last night as well, whcih was great.

Soph73 · 26/11/2007 15:16

LOL at lemonaid - you & me both then Peachy - great that DH felt lo. The Lab Technician said to me at lunchtime "off on maternity leave next month then?" She was gobsmacked when I told her it isn´t due till April

Soph73 · 26/11/2007 15:17

bobsmum - what´s SPD?

bobsmum · 26/11/2007 15:20

Soph73 - SPD is Symphisis Pubis Dysfunction. It's when your pelvis starts to separate due to the preggy hormones (relaxin). When you walk, it feels like your hips are being torn apart while simultaneously being kicked in the bits by a donkey . SOme women end up with crutches or a wheelchair. It's meant to disappear after the birth, but mine took 18 months to go completely.

I'm going to see the physio at the hospital for a support belt if I get any more pain.

bunyanvillas · 26/11/2007 15:21

Greetings, all from a flu-ridden household Oh, for some drugs! V bored at this point but not quite feeling well enough to do too much iykwim. So just sitting here with too much time on my hands and panicking at the thought of moving into a house needing a total refurb when 5 months pregnant, lol! Anyone else done this and have any tips for me? I keep saying to dh "it's ok, I realise we can't get it all done before the baby arrives" - but that's a lie and I want it all done yesterday!!

Soph73 · 26/11/2007 15:24

bobsmum - ouch, ouch, ouch. You poor thing. Will definitely try & whinge less now. bunyanvillas - poor you, hope it all clears up soon. No advice for you I´m afraid, just positive vibes & lots of luck being sent your way

Peachy · 26/11/2007 16:10

bobsmum I have spd as well- drat! Had it with ds3 but worse this time. Bloody annoying isn't it?

bobsmum · 26/11/2007 16:14

It really is hideous. I keep eyeing up the mobility scooters at the shopping centre and thinking "my.. how sensible" If I get as bad as I did with dd I am so hopping onto one!

CeylonSapphire · 26/11/2007 16:32

Hello all - it's my monthly check in on the Due April 08 thread

I had my second scan on Friday - which was fabulous. Both dh and I were awestruck at the detail we could see. We've decided to hold off finding out the flavour - I was SO in two minds about it, and was sorely tempted, but am now happy with my decision that it'll be a surprise on the day (but I still think it's a boy!).

The other bit of news is that I've a low-lying placenta - so we're keeping an eye on that. I've yet to do the research on it, but from what I've found out so far, most sort themselves out in good time for the birth. I go in for a 3rd scan at 35 weeks, so that's something else for me to look forward to!

I do try to keep up with this thread, but it's not easy whilst in full time work, and studying (I've professional exams in January - 3 of them!) and it's really starting to take it's toll now.

So, although I don't post that regularly, I do read from time to time to try to keep up with the latest.

Take care all.

TLSM · 26/11/2007 16:41

Welcome bobsmum the SPD thing sounds horrid

Stop talking about food even the though makes me feel sick I am having to force myself to eat at the moment! still havent put any weight on yet this pg in fact am still 8lbs lighter than when I found out I was PG (but I am a very big girl so not a problem)!

Spoke to the Midwife regarding the GBS this morning and said that I I am really worried that it all seems very hit or miss as you need at least 4 hours of the drug in your system to give baby the best chance otherwise they will put him on he drip I have said I would like a planned induction so I feel in control of the situation and to stop the worry and she said that that was fine as I have had one before that went well so I am seeing the consultant on the 14th December to agree it so that would mean I will be induced on the 14th April! My thoughts are I would much rather take all the pain and crap!

Soph73 · 26/11/2007 16:42

Hi ceylon. Great to hear about your scan and pleased that you're OK. I have heard that about the placenta sorting itself out so hopefully yours will too Keep us posted.
