Hi I'm new here!

I'm 33, live in Cardiff and in my first pregnancy. Baby is due on 10th April.

Feeling a bit odd here as i don't know what 'dd', 'ds' and 'dp' mean!

Sheds75 · 03/12/2007 15:09

Hi apple welcome to the group! if you look at the top there in the useful stuff line there is a link to the acronym list (very helpful)

enjoy

scorpio1 · 03/12/2007 15:09

There is an acronym list at the top of the page

Welcome

EllieG · 03/12/2007 15:11

Oh I was wondering where soph had gone, that explains things

Hello applegreen - nice to have you here.
The abbreviations are funny til you get used to 'em - dp (darling/dear partner)dh (same for husband) DD (daughter) DS (son)
There is a list somewhere on the site for what they all mean - I still have to refer to it sometimes but you get there in the end!

We probably need to update the list as there's 2 new mums-to-be to go on now! Isn't April a popular month?

I've sent a complaint in about the horrid radiographer. My mum spoke to a staff nurse she knows in SCUBU and she said that this woman has had loads of complaints and to write in and say how annoyed I was and ask for another scan. I have done, partly for me, and partly for DSD. I really wanted it to be a lovely family experience for her, bless her, and it wasn't. I am cross that she didn't have that just becuase some silly cow can't be bothered to be polite and friendly.

Sheds75 · 03/12/2007 15:15

Ellie must have been all the rain we had this summer

scorpio1 · 03/12/2007 15:18

There must have been nothing on telly, as people delight in telling me

'nosy parkers don't live long, 40 days and you'll be gone' is what im going to sing at the next one that dares it!!

SantasNotSoLittleHelper · 03/12/2007 15:25

Hi apple Yes, Ellie, it´s me
Scorpio - our excuse is that our summer hols are really long so we had to find something to do to fill the time However, the comment do get a little tedious after a while

applegreen · 03/12/2007 15:48

Hi there, I'm new!

I'm 33yrs, live in Cardiff, in my first pregnancy and due on 10th April.

I have no idea what 'dd', 'ds' and 'dp' means and feeling a bit daft! Please can someone explain.

Thanks

applegreen · 03/12/2007 15:49

so sorry please ignore this message, my computer didn't 'refresh' and I didn't realise I was repeating myself and that you had already all replied!!

See, told you I'm a daft newbie!!

scorpio1 · 03/12/2007 15:51

There are quite a few in Wales now, aren't there? My family live in Wales

SantasNotSoLittleHelper · 03/12/2007 15:58

My mum´s best mate is Welsh - does that count (she´s also my brother´s godmother!) Sorry, as you can tell I´m even more bored than usual

SantasNotSoLittleHelper · 03/12/2007 16:41

Well, nearly time to go home. See you ladies in the morning Have to go to the supermarket - yuk, I hate shopping

SuzeM · 03/12/2007 16:46

Hi Applegreen.
Congrats EllieG on your girl and Soph/SNSLH on your boy!

Is anyone going to get a postnatal doula? I am considering it, maybe just for a few days a week for a couple of weeks, as I don't have any family here to help after the baby arrives.

Denny185 · 03/12/2007 18:16

Welcome applegreen - hope your nickname didnt come from morning sickness, congrats on your pregnancy noe you have the trial of trying to keep up with the gasbags on here.

Toast - it would depend on the size of your LO on arrival, DS was in 3-6 month stuff within 4 weeks but he was a 10lber but DD didnt get into the 0-3 month stuff till she was about 5 weeks old.

Went to aqua today, love it, the only thing is the water is so cold i have a massive BH when I get in and takes a few mins to settle down so have to get in B4 the class starts.

DS had his first wee in the potty tonight - yeah - it will of course be a complete fluke and tomorrow night we will resume using the floor for the toilet!

Dont know who had the idea of the scan result in the envelope - fab wish Id thought of that.

Hip pains - generally ligamentous changes due to hormone changes, change sides if you wake to go to the loo. Can try pillow between knees (think someone else suggested) or fold spare duvet to put under the sheet on your side. Sometimes helps, sometimes your stuck with it, if persistant/severe mention to your midwife/GP.

Annieroo · 03/12/2007 18:40

Hi everyone, just to let you know the scan went ok. Lo is looking very good and no problems - didn't find out the sex though as we're going to be patient and wait until it's born

Felt definite kicks the other night just as i got in to bed, they were really strong, have just been feeling light fluttery movements. LO was really active on the scan though so that's put my mind at rest.

Congrats EllieG on your girl and Soph on your boy

Hi Applegreen, welcome and congrats - am just up the road from you in Abergavenny,

eva07 · 03/12/2007 19:20

congrats to all this scans, I'm really looking forward to mine on thursday.
welcome applegreen, starting end of jan I will be from cardiff too.
looking forward to our southwales meetup

northfeastmummy · 03/12/2007 20:34

Ugh - work was busy today and I didn't get a chance to catch up . I'm not sure how many of you are on in the evening?

Anyway, good idea about the envelope for valentines day. We're heading to the sun on valentines day but maybe we could take it with us for our anniversary which will happen when we're away. I'll have to work on dh though - not sure he'll be keen on the wait .

I have my scan on Thursday. Somebody asked me today if I was excited and I so wish I was. I just can't help but be more worried than I am excited. I'm going to try really hard to look forward to it ...

sweetkitty · 03/12/2007 21:17

Santasnotsolittlehelper/Soph73 - sorry to butt in but thanks for the well wishes on the Due in July 08 thread, glad everything is going well for you with the scan, another boy and I love the name.

Peachy · 03/12/2007 21:20

Welcome applegreen- I think that makes 4 of us in wales now? Eva is moving to cardiff, onealdy in Aber and me Caerleon.

Can't keep up with all thsi chat so will just say a handy cover all congrats to those who have a good scan and hope everyone is OK

Elfsmummy · 03/12/2007 21:30

hello all.

No new news here but had to comment to paranoid mummy I had a bad experience with two left feet.

About 9 months ago I ordered my DDs car seat from them over the telephone. I checked it was in stock as they indicated on their website.
A week later no seat, tried phoning and you can only do after-sales service via e-mail - literally no-one will talk to you they just hang up - After about 2 weeks of emailing they admitted they didn't actually have the car seat in stock so I cancelled the order. They then took 35 days to refund me the money - in line with their terms and conditions on the website.

I did some investigating after that and it turns out that they have been on BBCs watchdog twice and there is loads of posts across the internet complaining about them.

So if the deal is good, you could risk it but check check and double check that they definately have it in stock.

PS I have a bugaboo and it is fantastic.

Peachy · 03/12/2007 21:41

BTW eight years ago from now I was curling up in bed with my ds1 on his first night with us- what a fab memory! can't beleive how he's grown up.....

scorpio1 · 04/12/2007 08:46

Good Morning

although i am doing an assignment today for my management module [read shite]. Can you tell im happy about this??!!

Soph - what are you calling ds?

We are staying with Tayla, although we have both said that maybe we might come up with something else - i like Lacey but dp doesn't. She will probably be our only girl and i think maybe she should have a girly girl name, iyswim? Although me and dp rarely agree and to agree on Tayla (one of my fave names ever) was a miracle! He has forgotten about Becca thank god!!

Dad rang me last night, him and Mum have £150 for me for xmas , what do i want?? apparently i can have the money for after the baby or presents now. it has to be for me and not the house or holiday or anything, just me. ideas??? i have too many bags, shoes etc.

Hope everyone well?

EllieG · 04/12/2007 08:48

Sweeet! Am getting excited cos I'm going to have that soon!

Current fave name for a girl is Bella. Only telling you folks because people in RL always spoil it by saying something mean.

scorpio1 · 04/12/2007 08:51

We aren't telling anyone in RL either. Bella sweet i also like Beatrix for another B name.

EllieG · 04/12/2007 09:06

Tayla is nice, good for baby and grown-up. Beatrix is lovely actually, but have a feeling DP wouldn't go for it.

I could feel my heart beating loads last night so rang up my sis cos her boyfriend is a cardiologist. Was hoping for an interesting ailment but all I had was 'slight dehydration' apparently. Bah.
