Maybe it´s braxton hicks I´m having as tummy is rock solid & it feels like stomach ache (as though I´m full of wind ) Doesn´t hurt, just uncomfortable. We´re still looking at buggies, seems to be a lack of them about here at the mo!

scorpio1 · 03/12/2007 11:31

Me too, paranoid, i kep remembering im having a baby especially as its the first girl for us. dp is really excited too which makes it even nicer.

paranoidmummy · 03/12/2007 11:36

oh that's lovely scorpio . i'm sure my dh is secretly hoping for a girsl as we have two ds's between us but know hedoesn't want to say anything to me in case i feel like a failure if it ends up a boy - lol!!!b provided he/she is safe and well that is all i care about.

must be nice to be able to look at clothes in the relvant colour tho . how are your ds's about it?

scampmum · 03/12/2007 11:40

Hello all - bought our cot (lovely but ridiculously expensive Stokke one) from twoleftfeet.co.uk and they were fantastic, really quick and no complaints. Set it up then went into labour one day later!

Well done on the scans, Nat hope it is going OK today at GOSH.

DD's eardrum burst in the car last night! Luckily we were being driven so we were both in the back with her. That's an opinion from my parents (GPs) over text as naturally the first 'emergency' appt my new GP has (at least they could find us on the system, even if she was down as 'Puppy' (!) so they had to search by surname...) is on Wed am. She seems fine, bit of a temp but she went to nursery this am. Was only a tiny bit grumpy yesterday, can't believe what a little stoic she is - I perforated my eardrum at 16/17 and the pain was practically intolerable!

Lovely weekend away in friend's parents' amazing house in Dorset - six couples and no more kids (only one other set married) so we were a a bit of a freakshow!

SantasNotSoLittleHelper · 03/12/2007 11:48

paranoid - I know what you mean about realising there´s a baby at the end of this. It wasn´t until I saw him on Fri that the reality really sunk in

SantasNotSoLittleHelper · 03/12/2007 11:52

scampmum - see us ladies are built of stern stuff Hope your DD is fully fit soon.
Scorpio - I bought a babygro on Fri & let DS1 choose it. He also said that we needed to buy Sam a big digger

ToastandMincePieAddict · 03/12/2007 11:57

I'm going very soft! Thinking of buying this for dh for Christmas. So cute!

Quite fancy the teency little "50%" booties too!

paranoidmummy · 03/12/2007 11:57

oh snslh that is the cutest thing i have ever heard abot the digger bless his cottons

excellent about twoleftfeet scampmum, i shall def buy from there then so exciting. one more pay cheque til i'm allowed! i've been veto'd before xmas!!

sorry about your dd-sounds very very painful

scorpio1 · 03/12/2007 11:58

DD is going to have a t-shirt that says 'no-one puts baby in the corner'

a la dirty dancing

EllieG · 03/12/2007 12:01

I bought one like that for DP! Made him go all squidgy, the great big softy.

EllieG · 03/12/2007 12:04

I want the one from Blooming marvelous that says 'I'm the little sister'

SantasNotSoLittleHelper · 03/12/2007 12:09

Oh toast, think I may have to have one now Paranoid - DS also keeps asking if the baby has ears yet & when I say yes he bends down, gets close to bump & whispers "Hello in there, it´s me!" It gets me every time

ToastandMincePieAddict · 03/12/2007 12:10

OK, blatant newbie question - if I am going to spend £13 on something that will be grown out of very quickly, am I best getting the 1-3 month one, and having to wait a while before lo can wear it?

What I'm saying I suppose is, how long are newborns in newborn size clothes???

I'm such a skinflint, aren't I??

ToastandMincePieAddict · 03/12/2007 12:12

Oh Soph, that is so cute

(sorry can't be arsed with typing out your new name!!)

scorpio1 · 03/12/2007 12:13

ds1 was in them for ages, he was a skinny minie (6lbs 11oz)

ds2 was a chubby one (8lb 1oz) and didnt stay in them as long.

i have only got millie 7 1/2lb stuff because the next size up is 11lb. it lasts long enough anyway! IIRC at least 6 weeks.

paranoidmummy · 03/12/2007 12:31

oh snslh that is v cute. i must admit my ds has taken to kissing my tummy and saying goodbye to baby etc which is cute. but he also hs taken to lifting my top up in public to 'show people the baby'. now that does make me cross! nothing more unsightly than my big white belly for all to see!

i think it depends re newborn stuff toast. my ds was 8 1/2 lbs and was in newborn for a few weeks and never even fitted in some of it! my plan is to literally buy bare minimum in newborn this time and then send dh out to purchase lots when lo is here and we know how big he/she is. is easier as don't know the sex... if i knew what i was having i wouldn't be able to stop myself buying more!

VictorianSqualor · 03/12/2007 12:44

Toastaddict, DD was born at 32 weeks, didn't fit newborn stuff til she was nearly 5months old, DS weighed 8lb 7.5oz, was out of newborn within a few weeks!
I wouldn't buy it newborn!
All I'm buying is about ten packets of white babygros and vests in newborn and 0-3months.
Can you tell I've done this twice before?(though it feels like a million times!!)

Hi there NorthFeastMummy - nice to meet another Scottish lassie.

I just liked the idea of puttng my gender results envelope under the Christmas tree as it's another way to feel close to Peanut and to have him or her become a big part of that day. I'm moving in with my bf on the 15th December after having found a very lovely and decent man at the age of 36yrs(we hope to get married soon too) so it will be a culmination of all of that. Can't wait

Re your Jan scan - well what about opening it on St Valentines - if you can wait that long? After all that is the day when we traditionally think of our loved ones (not just partners)

Hello Ellie G - thanks for your congrats. V kind of you and appreciated by us both. On another note I too am having hip pain - moved some of my stuff at the weekend - well didn't do any lifting but a lot of going upstairs to supervise where folk were putting boxes and it was the worst it's been. I do use a pillow between my knees but nothing wld take away the pain which lasted 12+hours ...so any tips out there? Lets's have them - all gratefully received.

Hiya VictorianSqualor - re your scan - you could always get it in a sealed envelope too.....just in case you later change your mind and decide you just have to know!

Right gotta go. Take care all of you!

VictorianSqualor · 03/12/2007 13:24

Mama2peanut, I have three more scans, one on 19th dec, one on 29th january and one on 11th March so I can ask another three times, but I'm determined not to!
I went to dp's parents yesterday and his brother was there with his gf, everyone was giving me their opinion on whether it would be a boy or a girl, it was really interesting and exciting, I just think that we wouldn't have that if we knew so it made me even more determined!

OP posts:
scorpio1 · 03/12/2007 13:30

Why do you have so many scans VS?

VictorianSqualor · 03/12/2007 13:36

Cos I'm special.

Hahaha, no, the one on the 19th is my uterine doppler, soemthing to do with vessels on my uterus to see if I'm at high risk of eclampsia, and the other two are for my VBA2C, just growth scans.

OP posts:
scorpio1 · 03/12/2007 13:45

I had growth scans the last 2 times because i was under consultant care (teenage pg), and they seemed to rush me in every time i said i had a headache! Both babies were fine.

SantasNotSoLittleHelper · 03/12/2007 14:01

Toast - don´t worry, my new name is a bit of a mouthful DS1 was in newborn stuff for what seemed like 5 mins - he was very long, best just to get a few bits imo. If you´re spending 13 quid definitely go for 1-3 mnths (but I'm a skinflint too )

SantasNotSoLittleHelper · 03/12/2007 14:11

paranoid - sorry, but had a bit of giggle at you exposing your belly DS also comments on how big my boobs are getting. Obviously going to be a boob man ... ahhh, like father, like son

paranoidmummy · 03/12/2007 14:14

LOL snslh (i have written your new initials on my work pad in front of me so i don't need to keep working it out!). i must admit that ds pointed at my right breast the other day and said 'is there a baby in there too?' oh very funny! i'm sure he knew what he was doing!!
