Big hello to all remaining pg ladies! I haven't been on for ages as am more of a lurker (please don't throw rotten veg at me) but now that there are only a handful of us, I feel safe to post!

Am now 40 + 3 and starting to get a bit fed up but must try not to let this get me down as everyone tells me first babies are usually late. Have a midwife appt on Weds so might ask her to do a sweep. Do you think she will be up for it as I will be 40 + 5 then???

I am hoping for a homebirth (everything is arranged for one) and according to my notes the midwives are on call until Dec. 14th only (two weeks after due date) so I really don't want to go any longer than that as it will mean having to go into hospital and also the poor LO will have a birthday v. close to Xmas which will be a shame for him/her if lazy relatives lump the two together, present-wise.

Will try to post more regularly as maybe being a lurker rather than a poster is what is keeping this LO from making an appearance .

Loving hearing the birth stories and seeing the lovely pictures - congrats to all the new Mums!

RGPargy · 03/12/2007 17:06

Ara - blimey!!!! Long time no see!! Cant believe you've had trouble with Virgin. I've had no trouble from them whatsoever. I think they're FAB! Sorry to hear you are overdue tho (join the club!) Have a nice evening!

Absofruitly - Another blimey!!! Good to see you back too! First babies are usually late, but saying that, DS came at 37 weeks and now here i am with baby number 2 and still waiting at 40+6!

So what happens if the baby comes on 15th December? Surely they wont make all babies be born in hospital after 15th December?? Or is this just in YOUR case, rather than the health authority? Your MW may do a sweep if you ask her nicely, but again it might depend on your health authority. Mine did a sweep for me at 40+3 but said they dont normally do them until 41 weeks so i was lucky.

hello Ara welcome back - hope the house is all nicely done up ready for the baby.

Absofruitly - yr lo probably won't appear unless you post on here daily moaning about nothing happening and then obssessing ove r every twinge for a week or two (well that's what I did anyway)

Rg - fingers crossed that you are right about yr bambino arriving tomorrow. I expect she'll be waiting at the foot of the bed when you wake up

ara · 03/12/2007 18:53

HA ha! managing to keep dp at bay so I'm back on the compuer for the time being.

My midwife tried to do a sweep last Thursday but she couldn't reach my cervix (tbh i think it went into hiding as i wasn't overly keen and had been getting lots of braxton hicks so was convinced it would come last weekend). THEN they totally stopped ove rthe weekend which was really weird - I expected them to get stronger and stronger and then turn into the real thing!
I had some good ones last night after a long walk and lots of gyrating on my ball (dp finding this very amusing) and then nothing again this morning.
I'm all booked for home birth and had to struggle to get one so i desperately don't want to end up in the Infirmary!!
What is everyon else doing? I'm on the raspberry leaf tea, gyrating, walking and sexually harrassing dp, which he is being very good about. I also just ate a vindaloo which was a major undertaking - I'm still recovering 15 minutes later - ooohh!

choudru · 03/12/2007 19:16

Are you lot STILL pregnant?!

Hope your intuition is right RG. My DH started watching Heroes but I kind of got him out of it by asking him not to watch it until I had caught up with the first 2 episodes when they came on telly (so we could watch the rest of the series together). Needless ot say, I never did catch up so I made him get out of it for no reason

LOM - sorry to hear you're feeling pants. The weather probably isn't helping - it's so much easier to get out when the sun is shining - no matter how cold it is. I meant to get out for a walk today but by the time DS, Sara and I had got our act together, it was dark and raining.

Ara - welcome back. The consultant couldn't reach my cervix either when they tried to give me a sweep. But she said that even 'fiddling around up there' could stimulate labour. I did go into labour in the early hours of the next day so it might have been the sweep speeding things up a little.

Loopy - your Doula sounds like she's making the whole family feel at ease. Weren't you thinking about becoming a doula? You so should.

Am sending my left over labour vibes to everyone - don't waste them.

RGPargy · 03/12/2007 19:20

Silk - oh yes, i fully expect her to be snuggled in her moses basket at the foot of my bed by the morning.

Ara - Not doing too much tbh. I keep feeling guilty about my body not being ready which must mean that baby isn't ready to come out either and i feel bad that i might be forcing her out when she's not ready! How on earth did you manage the vindaloo!!! Oooooouch!!!!

My back is really playing up today, although it might have something to do with me not sitting and relaxing too much today, but rather perched forward over the laptop, walking round Asda, and then cooking for an hour tonight. You never know tho!

What are you all up to tonight?

OP posts:
RGPargy · 03/12/2007 19:21

Choudru - Am trying not to hog the vibes. Am getting tightenings as we speak! You can borrow Heroes DVDs after LOM if you like!

OP posts:
Absofruitly · 03/12/2007 19:55

RG - good for you for getting tightenings. I haven't even had the slightest twinge so far. Occasionally I'll get a bit of a pain in the right side (like a stitch) when walking for a lengthy time, especially carrying shopping, but I guess that is more likely to be a stitch than labour starting.

I think the 14th Dec deadline for home birth is because my due date was 30th Nov so the MW put in my notes that the community MWs would be on call 16th Nov-14th Dec (i.e. two weeks either side). To be honest I don't know what happens after 14th Dec as I assumed I wouldn't get to that stage (ha!) so I will have to ask about that at my appt on Weds.

Re: Heroes - I am an addict! I watched Series 1 on the Sci-Fi channel earlier this year and am now 10 episodes into series 2, due to the wonderful world of downloading from the U, S of A. Series 2 starts out a bit weak but it is definitely picking up steam now - you have all that to look forward to!

RGPargy · 03/12/2007 20:32

Abso - sounds like general pg aches and pains you are getting from walking/shopping etc. With regard to your deadline, i wasn't sure if it was personal to you or if they stopped ALL homebirths after 14th December lol. I was probably just being thick.

As for Heroes, i have all of the episodes of series 2 downloaded too () but i'm determined to re-watch series 1 first just in case i've missed bits first time around. I'm very anal like that. I'll be doing the same thing with Lost when series 4 is on the horizon. I'll deffo be getting out series 3 again because although it was on weekly here (with adverts! ) i used to download it to avoid the ads and when you watch it weekly i think you sometimes lose momentum and can miss things that you might have seen if you'd watched the episodes close together IYSWIM.

I've also got Desperate Housewives Series 4, Prison Break series 3 and Dexter series 2. All great viewing for the days when i'm trapped indoors on the sofa feeding the baby. Oh what a shame that'll be!!

Hello everyone

Just back from hospital today after having Luke on 30 Nov (just scraped in) by section. Was induced as waters broke and had meconium in, but induction failed, so after labouring for 13 hours finally had section. We are both struggling a bit with breast feeding, but am perserving for now.

Hope everyone else is OK - RG how are you coping???

RGPargy · 03/12/2007 20:57

Hi ST! Congrats on the arrival of Luke!! Wonderful news! Looking forward to seeing a pic of him!

I'm doing ok thanx. Better than i was last week anyway. I have a feeling she'll be out before my next mw appointment on friday. DS reckons tomorrow and DP's mate says Thursday. I think it'll be on a date that's an even number! I'm probably just being a mad pg hormonal loonatic tho.

Pixie - sorry you're having problems

RGPargy · 04/12/2007 08:31

Morning ladies!

Didn't sleep well again last night, just couldn't get comfy and neither could DP. That's the second night in a row that neither of us slept well. I think he has sympathy pains coz his back was aching as well as mine last night!!

Anyway, got up this morning with the intention of taking the cat to the vets for her exploratory x-ray but i've had a big show and i've got a mild belly ache too so i've decided to not go. The last thing i'd want is to take her there and then she gets stuck there overnight or whatever. I'll reschedule that for next week a bit later when they answer their bloomin phones!

So anyway, who knows. This could be it! I will keep you posted. I've put DP on standby. I just knew i wouldn't be at the vets today lol.

Any rumblings in the jungle for anyone else?

iris66 · 04/12/2007 08:33

woohooo!!! good luck RG

DanJARMouse · 04/12/2007 08:37

YAY RGP!

Come on - get that baby out! I honestly thought Daniel would be born today, so maybe I was getting confused with your bundle!

{VIBES}

Nbgdoesnthaveachristmasname · 04/12/2007 08:46

Oooooh jealous RG
Get rocking that pelvis woman!

I had alot of v painful digging last night and alot of contractions.
It felt like the baby was about to crown out of my bum tbh . Also my bump has gone down very very low. Its sagging over my trousers, so all I can think is that he has fully engaged now and he was getting into position???????

Dh has had to go and hand in his course work today. 30 miles away!!! But my mum is here again today so if anything happens I'll have to be on the phone straight away.
If nothing does happen then its sweep day tomorrow so maybe that will do something and the MW can tell me where exactly this baby is.

6 days late now!!!!!!!

RGPargy · 04/12/2007 08:47

Thanx Iris!!

Jarm - It's funny because if she does come today, she will have arrived at the same time as DP arrived into the world - 2 days late. Although i'm officially 41 weeks today, when i had my first scan they said baby was 5 days younger than my dates and i had to go back the following week. They didn't change my dates tho because it was under a week. So if that's true, that theoretically makes me 40+2 today, IYSWIM.

OP posts:
RGPargy · 04/12/2007 08:50

Nbg - I feel your anxiety re DP being a distance away! DP is also about 30 miles away but shouldn't take more than 40 minutes to get back home if/when i call him today. Hope your sweep goes ok tomorrow!
