Hiya ladies,
Thought I'd start the new thread, hope you like the title! Best I could come up with I'm afraid!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
sarahmikeandharry · 04/01/2008 14:51

Hi everyone-

MW called to say she has arranged a scan for earlier today!!! how fast? ( she said yesterday i was measuring large and wanted to check as i would like homebirth)

i have not long ago got back and thought i would let you know, DD is weighing approximately 6lb at the mo- although sonographer did say that could be 10-15 % either way so lo is average weight for 35+5!!!

All seems well for homebirth!!!! Yipee

Have had to book in to see consultant as i have raised BMI and normally a hb is ruled out- MW seems happy though!!!!

WOW beansprout must feel weird to know exactly what day your lo is arriving!!!!!!

Gill79- i get the stabbing pain every now and again- depends what i am doing of if been on feet for a while!!!!

hope everyone is well

tyaca · 04/01/2008 14:54

bean - go get thee to the jan thread ;-)

gill - sry about your granddad. yup, i got that pain exactly. didnt even think of equating it with head engaging as still feel v far from having baby (am 32 plus 4)

mana - grrr, poor you re your mum. there's nothing like disagreements with mums to keep you preoccupied. my brother and i arent getting on i think (almost a month since they had their baby, and still no contact with me or invite and abrupt responses to my text...... her family and some friends have been round) and that makes me really weepy when i think about it. is there any chance that it will all be forgotten about in new-baby-ness when your LO arrives?

hello lolo!

long time no hear from PK. did i miss anything??

Countto10 - my DH kicked into gear over xmas. really sweet - his approach to having a new life to take care of is to organise our shelving. intelligent shelving will save us! we've finally got round to stripping the spare room and are half way through putting lining paper up. first attempt - so far so ok. we've been doing three or four bits a day ... me and DH are essentially sofa-dweller by nature and were both pleasantly surprised to find the Sorting Out and the Doing Stuff not too taxing.... he made me laugh yesterday when he said he'd been worried we would never turn into "those kind of people"

violeta · 04/01/2008 15:35

Wow, beansprout, how exciting! Will you be the second to pop, I wonder?!

Gill - yep, have been having those exact same pains every now and then. I asked the midwife about it last time and she thought it was muscular and due to things stretching particularly as, like with you, it always happened when I was up and about doing things.

Congrats on your homebirth plans, sarah!

I'd be up for a London meet-up as well. Somewhere central makes sense, I guess. Any suggestions, anyone? How about somewhere with good cakes?!

rozzyraspberry · 04/01/2008 15:47

Hi everyone.

Blue - what you're describing sounds exactly how I felt when I had a urine infection at the start of the year. I left it so long before seeing about it that the infection spread into my kidneys and it was not pleasant (back ache throwing up etc) so I would really get checked asap - especially at this stage in pregnancy - the last thing you need is to be ill.

Ladle - great to hear from you! Well done in managing to give your girls breastmilk - I've never got the hang of expressing. I'm surprised your hospital can't provide you with a more efficient electric pump.

Beansprout - I'm glad you've made a decision you're happy with. It sounds like the size of the baby has made the decision easier for you. So that must be only 3 weeks away - ikes not long!!

Those of you who talk about stabbing pains when walking I had these twisting stabbing like pains with ds2 and am having them to a lesser extent this time. After he was born I was told that it was due to my stomach muscles separating. The physio will check for this after baby born.

Gill - sorry about your grandad.

Hope everyone else is well. Everytime I log on here now I'm half expecting to hear that someone has gone into labour/had a baby. It's so exciting !!

ruva · 04/01/2008 15:53

hiya all,
happy new year to you all, feel really nasty bad cold and sore throat- i think i got it from keeping my mouth shut when mil was sprouting off nasty things- had a melt down on the day they were leaving i told fil to stop defending his wife everytime she was nasty-so i had a heart to heart with mil and i told her i had to forgive her to move on after that she asked if she could stay an extra day i said of course, when dh came home he was fumming he said they should have gone i said no our house is an open house when people come to stay we should never ask for how long they staying for and i told him that i had given them the key. i feel i need to give mil another chance before the lo comes to be civil towards each other dh is an only child. sorry about the nutter!

tyaca · 04/01/2008 16:33

bean, hope you dont mind me taking the liberty of starting a thread for londoners in the meet ups... not a hijak - just the product of a woman on mat leave with too much time on hands

london meet up

beansprout · 04/01/2008 16:37

Not at all, thanks for doing it . I am too busy running around thinking, "OMFG my baby will be here in under 3 weeks!!!"

Egg · 04/01/2008 16:49

Right well I tried to catch up and have not had time, but wanted to say hello and say OH MY GOD to Beany I can't believe how big the baby is already and YIKES at having a date. 23rd is a good day, one of my best friends was born on 23 Jan. Was your DS a big lad?

Am gutted I am no longer in London to meet up.........

I saw consultant yesterday and he is 90% sure I will give birth within next two weeks, but if not he will give me a date for induction at 38 weeks (19 Jan or thereabouts), so not long to go either way! Scary scary.

Will catch up properly tomorrow when DH is here as have to run and get DS's supper ready.

beansprout · 04/01/2008 16:53

Egg - gutted you can't join us too, would have been lovely to meet you.
Ds was 10lb 5oz, so he was pretty big too!
Wow, next 2 weeks!! That's very exciting!!

ayrshirelolo · 04/01/2008 17:50

Hiya folks!
Thanks for all the welcomes.... kind of you all!
I've posted this one on the Jan thread too, and found out i'm not completely unique in my weirdness, but are any of you lovely ladies craving ice cubes? In huge quantities? Like a pint glass full at a time?? Am i strange or just up the duff??!!DH thinks i'm odd, but is bringing me glass fulls of the things to crunch, bless!! Anyway better go and sort dinner for dd... she's 18 months and occassionally it hits me i'm gonna have 2 under 2 soon..... Yikes! Take care all... and Gill, i know i don't know you but sorry to hear your bad news. Take care all.... hope we all get some sleep (ha!! in between loo trips and gaviscon breaks!!! ) lolo xx

Egg · 04/01/2008 17:52

Back for a quickie.

Jo so sorry about your grandpa. Such a sad time to lose him as well .

Ayrshirelolo - welcome to Feb thread, I think I need to go on Jan thread but I love these Feb ladies too much now . Don't worry, I will have THREE children under two within a couple of weeks . I think ice cubes is a common craving so you are not wierd or mad after all!

Gill79 · 04/01/2008 18:15

Hey Egg you sound busy ;-)

Right just ordered my relaxation and self hypnosis CD off amazon. Suspect I will just end up chucking the stereo out the window in a fit of rage but must try anyway. Saw one course which had things like "entering the rainbow garden".... oh dear - could feel myself tensing up at the sound of it. Was looking for the Hypnobirthing Mongan method CDs but there don't appear to be any to be had in the UK and I'm definitely not traipsing round the shops looking for it.

Happy weekend all.

Pk616 · 04/01/2008 18:50

Hello ladies,
I've not been on in what seems like ages cause we got cut off (the cat needed the money more than Virgin!!!) but we've sorted it all out now so I'm back!!
I've had a quick read through all the goings on on here, more babies coming in the next two and a half weeks, bludy ell!
I would love to meet up with you ladies but I'm a brummie and it's a tad too far for me at the mo (driving across town makes me ache all over!)
Argh, now I can't remember anything else that's been said, me brain's turned to mush!
Oh, yeah! Welcome lolo, if infact that's your name, I'm uncertain!
My mom, bless her, bought me my pram/pushchair on wednesday. It's lovely! A Silver Cross 3D complete pram system (without carseat attachment as I can't stand the things and I don't think they're good for babies backs)in grey.
I'm surprised at myself at the moment because I've stopped being nervous and scared and anxious and all the other negative emotions about the birth and becoming a parent and I am now just plain excited yet strangely calm. I can't deide if this is a good sign or not, lol!
Oh and I noticed that despite putting myself on the list ages ago, my name has fallen off it so here I go again!

Gill - sorry about your grandfather.

Bean - gosh - not long to go!!

Mana - i agree, you don't need more stress. It's a shame your mum doesn't realise this. Why didn't she ask your DH for help if she needed it?

hi everyone and welcome to lolo, you are more than welcome to hang out with us lot especially if you do go into feb,was your first child on time?

I would really love to meet you all in the flesh but unfortunately its too far, i must try and get a pic of me of my profile, its nice to put a face to names.

Hi rozzy how's it going on all fours!! its hard going isn't it you might also want to try sitting on a chair (christene Keeler style) the wrong way round, i dont know how much good it does but its worth a try.

Egg i thought i gave you strict instructions to have babies on my birthday (16th)

Sarahmikeandharry i'm really pleased that you are having the homebirth that you want.

Gill i'm so very sorry you lost your grandpa, big hugs for youxxx
And yes i have stabbing pains a lot i think it must be combination of baby weight and ligaments moving.

Ladle its great that the girls are getting stronger each day..and you are sounding like a pro already with your nipple info lol... give them girls a big snuggle off me xxx

Wow bluedomino a baby on valentines day, how lovely.

And beansprout you have been eating all the pies havent you?? That is such a good weight already. And like egg one of my best mates has her birthday on the 23rd, she's an aquarius and extremely clever and beautiful and kind, so here's hoping for all three for your baby.

leesmum · 04/01/2008 21:18

Right as promised i've put a pic on my profile of me and Ds last summer, bear in mind that i'm about 2 stone heavier now and look knackered all the time

Yup a valentine baby for me unless anything happens before, my brother was also born on Valentines Day so I hope its not an omen. Hes a bit of a brainy eccentric sort, maths genius and I don't even know my tables!

How accurate are the estimated baby weights, does anyone know, the obs told me to expect a 10 pounder on DD, but she was only 8.2. It still stung though! They told me this one is bigger than average and asked what DP was like. He blocks out quite a bit of light!

Hi lolo, welcome, I'm an ice addict too, have entire shelf of freezer devoted to icemaking. But I'm also madly craving petrol, diesel and creosote. I'm struggling not to and have to confess I have had a quick sniff of the lawnmower.

Family is always difficult, even the easygoing ones. Ruva you dealt with things v well. My MIL is a difficult person generally, favours DPs brother & family etc, I've just tried to be neutral and shes become so much better. I have bitten my tongue so often though. Mana just try to let it all wash over you, you are the most important person at the moment.

Have a nice relaxing weekend everyone, unless you haven't taken down the Christmas decs yet...

rozzyraspberry · 04/01/2008 22:12

Hi Leesmum - must admit I'm not really enjoying the getting down on all fours malarky! The midwife said not to sit slouched with my knees at a higher level than my stomach so sitting on a chair turned the wrong way round sounds like a good idea - thanks for the tip!

Bluedomino I've heard a lot of people say the estimates they were given on their babies weights were out on here. My SIL was told 10lbs - was induced on due date and her ds was 7.5lbs. My neighbour was told 10lbs - her ds was 12lbs - gave birth naturally although she said it was a bit harder than her 2 girls had been! I'm sure they get it right a lot of the time though otherwise it wouldn't be worth doing.

LOVEMYMUM · 05/01/2008 10:40

Hi lolo - welcome!

Sorry that I seem to post in a quick manner but its the only way i can remember what to say!

PK - What do you think of your Silver Cross? My parents are going to buy LO Silver Cross -it only took Mum and I three months to decide which one to get .

Really wish i had energy for longer than 2 hour spurts. Oh well, am relieved that i can rest but also feel slightly guilty that i can rest (cos no other children to look after).

miniandme · 05/01/2008 13:27

Am getting so fed up with these 2 being so bloomin undecided on whether they are showing up or not !!! Had another night of strong cx with lots of pelvic pressure can really feel twin 1's head grinding right down in there. Its so hard not getting into the cx and waiting for it all to really start so am now trying to concentrate on ignoring them, reverse psychology and all that
Kids go back to school on monday so have made plans to go out for a lovely lunch with DF on monday and then on tuesday go through all twins clothes ,get them all sorted out and in their new wardrobe which DF is building as i write. Then we have consultant on tuesday at 4 and am going to press to be taken in next day for induction as uterus is so overstretched it is becoming a danger.so could possibly be looking at meeting my twinnies by wednesay/thursday next week !!!

Egg · 05/01/2008 13:57

Am so . I realised while lying in bed last night that I said "Jo sorry about your grandpa" and not Gill... no wonder poor Gill posted straight after me saying I sounded busy. Sorry Gill I hope I did not seem insensitive .

Mini I think I said this last time but I find it hard to believe I am still pregnant at 36 weeks so it is almost impossible to believe you are still hanging in too. I am amazed that they haven't induced you by now as the babies are a great weight. I too feel the girl's head grinding in the pelvis, but also feel feet in my ribs. This time next week I am planning to be in labour .

Got cot top changer out of shed and found that the wood has tiny bit of mould like stuff, I have cleaned it but it seems to be inside the wood. Am I stupid to consider using it as it will be on top of one of the cots (admittedly babies will most likely both be in one cot and this will be on other cot so no-one sleeping in that one until they are 4/5 months probably).

Am also finding I am having braxton hicks all the time, all day and all night, sometimes they are uncomfortable but never agony. Am really getting fed up with them.

Sorry I read through all the messages and now can't remember any of them, will have to try again and do a second post...

Egg could you maybe touch it up with a bit of varnish or paint ?? If its only a little i cant see it being too bad especially if it wont be near the babies anyway.
I totally agree with you about it being disbeliveable to still be pg at this stage,i had ds1 at 38wks,ds2 at 37wks and dd at 38wks so was defo expecting these 2 a lot earlier than this. They wont induce me before 36 wks unless its for serious health matters to either me or the twins. My uterus now measures over 58cms so there is becoming a real danger there for after delivery, that on top of my SPD and massive fluid levels in my body are enough to get them inducing me next week as 39wks tomorrow.
I just cant wait for it all to be over, have been totally housebound now since before xmas apart from my various hospital trips, have taken to hanging my head out the bedroom window to feel the fresh air on my face!
