Hiya ladies,
Thought I'd start the new thread, hope you like the title! Best I could come up with I'm afraid!

love - I think my silver cross is brilliant!
It turns on a penny, glides smoothly with very little effort over lumps and bumps, it's easy to change from pushchair to pram and back again, it looks super snuggly, and once you've figured out what you're doing it's really easy to fold down and put up. It has only 2 down sides...It's not small when it's folded down so if it has to go in the boot of my fiesta there is no room for anything else in there and you will always need somewhere to store 50% of the 'soft furnishings' bits as the footmuff is not used when in pram function and the mattress and pram cover bits aren't used in pushchair function. But I think this is a small price to pay for a pushchair/pram that looks like a very safe and very comfortable vehicle for the baby. It looks cool too!!!
I got it from babies r us at £264.99 which is one of the lowest prices for the 3D complete that I've seen so far.

Egg - you could try immersing the changer in a bleach solution for a few hours, rinse, rub down with damp salt or lemon and wash again and see if this improves the mould situation(it may ruin the finish though). If it doesn't DP could sand down the changer and revarnish it(which he may have to do anyway after it's been soaked). I personally wouldn't risk using the changer if it still appears to have mould on it as mould spores can be VERY dangerous when they are breathed in. I'd say save yourself and your DP the hastle and buy a new one!

It's great to hear from ladle (and informative - I'd never thought that different brands of breast pumps might be so different), and also to hear from those ladies a couple of weeks further on than me - Suddenly it all seems to be happening for lots of people - Babies heads starting to become engaged, contractions etc etc... Makes it seem a lot more real all of a sudden!!!

Thought I had my 1st braxton hicks contractions last night - or maybe it was just gas from the gaviscon I've been swigging? I have heard most people will have felt braxton hicks by my stage (33 and a half weeks), if I haven't felt any yet does that mean the baby will come late? (dear God I hope not!) or does it just mean I'm not very good at recognising the signs lol

am jealous of all you ladies who have had growth scans - I really want to know how big lo is going to be - if only from the point of view of buying the right size nappies/baby clothes etc of course!!! also I read somewhere that people who eat lots of junk food put on lots of weight but their babies come out small so I hope that does not apply to me cos my diet hasn't been that great esp over Christmas!

Right am going to stop being paranoid now, stop eating those Christmas sweets, and go away and do something productive... See you later...

Egg · 05/01/2008 15:30

PK that's what I am worried about. It wont cost much to replace when compared with the possibility of it doing damage to my little babies, and it will still be in their room 100% of the time even if not on their cot. It is probably ok but if anything happened I would always blame myself .

Ladle - keep meaning to say, I have a pack of three sleepsuits from Next that I bought a couple of months ago. I accidentally bought tiny baby instead of early baby (or vice versa) and they only go up to 5lbs. I have hung onto them as Dory was still estimated to be below 5lbs less than a week ago, but if it turns out she is bigger, shall I send them to you? They are plain white with a motif so are unisex. I have no receipt. At the mo they are still with tags on etc. I don't want any money for them but as you actually have babies who are small enough to be able to wear them I would much rather you have them than they go unused. Will have to wait until mine are born to see what size they are, but think it is unlikely I will need them.

Egg · 05/01/2008 15:31

Sally I don't remember getting any / many braxton hicks last time at all, apart from when I went for a wee my tummy always went rock hard!

SallyInYorkshire · 05/01/2008 17:54

Egg thanks thats v reassuring!!

LOVEMYMUM · 05/01/2008 18:15

Hi mini & egg - hope all goes well. Twin pregnancies seem to be v. uncomfortable. Sympathy to you both.

Thanks PK - will order in a few weeks. I think i'm still in denial/shock about a baby living in my house!

beansprout · 05/01/2008 18:25

Gill - sorry, keep meaning to say how sorry I am that you lost your Grandad. Hope you and your family are ok.

Lovemymum - are you up for joining us on the London meet-up? There is a thread in the meet ups section if you would like to hang out with the large ladies of Londontown.

Well, godammit, ds has come down with chicken pox, just as I was really looking forward to a day to myself and a rest when he went to nursery on Tuesday. He's ok, he seems to have a pretty mild version but the rules still apply. I'm already shattered, not sure I can manage another 10 days of non-stop running around after a 3 year old.

rosalinda · 05/01/2008 18:45

can i join your due in feb thread? i'm due 9th feb /london 1st one

rozzyraspberry · 05/01/2008 19:03

Oh beansprout - what a nightmare - just as you would be wanting to get yourself organised for the lo's arrival! I think generally people feel unwell with chicken pox before the spots come out so hopefully he won't be feeling too unwell now!

Sally - I've never had a single braxton hicks contraction in any of my 3 pregnancies - was 3 days late with ds1 but 5 days early with ds2 so doesn't mean you'll be late if you don't have them.

Good luck mini with your consultants appointment.

Egg there was mould on our over cot changer and cot when we got it out. Came off the cot easily but not the changer so threw that out. I think it must be the type of wood used on the changers?

rozzyraspberry · 05/01/2008 19:04

Forgot to say welcome rosa - you have the same due date as me - although I seem to have been promoted on the due date list - must update my details.

rosalinda · 05/01/2008 19:19

Thanks RR. I think its the eve of chinese new year, so don't know if it could be a pig like me or a rat like DH. you having a boy or girl? I'm having a boy

beansprout · 05/01/2008 19:29

Hi Rosa - you are very welcome!!

I haven't had any BH's either so can't comment there. I dread to think what an even tighter bump would feel like!!

rozzyraspberry · 05/01/2008 20:35

Boy here too rosa - my third!!

morningglory · 05/01/2008 20:52

No BH here either. Didn't have them with DS...in fact, never had ANY contractions before he flew out of me! If they don't induce me at 38 weeks (to the day, as DS was born 38+1), I'm not leaving my house, ever, until this baby is born. Last thing I want is to give birth at the petrol station, or similarly lovely location.

Beansprout: I'd just chuck out the changer. Agree with all that isn't worth the guilt and worry. Also, sorry about the chicken pox. Hopefully, your ds will have an extremely mild form, and will easily be occupied at home. Lots of videos, cbeebies, and cbeebies internet were my salvation.

Welcome rosalinda! According to my brother's chinese finace, pigs are really lucky and if your child is born before Chinese New Year this year, it is a Golden Pig, and particularly lucky (apparently there is a Golden Pig only every several hundred years).

ayrshirelolo · 05/01/2008 22:03

Hiya all! Thanks for all the reassurance about ice eating, makes me feel less mad!! Hello Rosa, i've just joined this thread too (although am 2 timing as also have been on Jan thread for months... i'm due on 31st Jan) and it seems to move as quick as the January thread! I'm nearly at the magic 37 weeks, and am getting very fed up being pregnant! Same happened last time, and my dd made her appearance at 39+5... just as i got to the end of my tether!! Imagine this will be similar.
Egg - 3 under 2 is a good score!!! There's a lady on Jan thread (tripletsandtwins) who now has 5 under 4....Wow!! I think i can just about cope and have huge admiration for anyone with more!!
I didn't have any BH's last time either...so can't comment, sorry! Beansprout what nightmare about the chicken pox! Couldn't make it up, could you?? Hope it's a mild dose, and as morningglory says, thank the lord for Cbeebies!!! (my dd is so young she doesn't realise that it's the same episode of In the night garden later in the day, so will happily watch it again!! I'm a bad mummy some days)
Anyway, hope everyone is ok, lolo xx

ExpectingKat · 06/01/2008 06:29

elo all, I hope they listen to you mini and induce you and all goes well. I'm 35wks on tuesday and counting the days, just hoping when I go a wk on monday twin a is head down (and in a hurry to come out lol) all this talk from people how twins are normally early, I feel excited 1 minute that within the next fews they both could be here and then another minute feels like I shall waitin for my induce date and going over 38wks, which I just can't stand the thought of DD1 and DD2 both back to school which is nice but DS does miss havin his sisters around to play with him, DS 1st birthday is on friday its hard to belive he's going to be 1 and within days I could have another 2, I try not to think how it will be or I'd be a nervous reck well more than I already am lol
Welcome rosalinda
Sending my best wishes to Gill and family at this sad time.
Egg I'd go and get a new changer I think it would be less hassle for you and not a worry also with it being sales hopefully won't cost so much to replace
Take care all

sarahmikeandharry · 06/01/2008 12:04

Hi all-

Had a rough day or so- am 36 weeks today!!!

Yesterday woke up feeling pretty strange? cannot describe it any better, went out with mom as planned in the morning, leaving DS with grandad!!!!!woo hoo

aroung 12 noon my tummy went really tight and hard and this continued throughout the afternoon- got pretty painful at times too!!!

Anyway inlaws arrived two hours late to visit us!!!!argghh- its DH birthday today so they had to pop in!!!! as soon as they left i went to bed!!! 6pm- then was up being sick and having regular tummy tightenings every half hour or so-

throughout the night i was vomiting but the tightening stopped around 4 am- got up bout 8am today and feel like i have been hit by a bus!!!!!!

Do you think the tightenings are just braxton hicks? never had them with DS so not really sure- also ds was born at 37+2 so could be early again!!!

Dh had tummy bug last week so it could just be that, wondered what you ladies thought- should i get checked out or see what happens?

Sorry is a long post!!!!!!

oh and Welcome Rosa [rosa]

Pk616 · 06/01/2008 15:54

Egg · 06/01/2008 17:36

Sarah - I have been the same this weekend but without the vomiting. Have had almost constant tummy tightenings, felt sick, had upset stomach repeatedly, not wanting to eat, every time I do eat I end up on the loo. Thought things might be happening last night but now think maybe it is just a bug.

Thanks all for advice on changer. Think I will order a new one just to be on the safe side.

Egg · 06/01/2008 17:41

Oh and was awake until midnight, had an hour's sleep, then awake until 5:30am. Managed to then sleep til 8:30 as thankfully DH got up with DS. Felt so sick and crap and needing the loo all night. Bleurgh.

Slacker · 06/01/2008 17:45

Sarah, sounds like Braxton Hicks to me, they can feel alarmingly like the real thing but they do go away eventually. Try drinking something as they're worse if you're a bit dehydrated. I'm 36 weeks today too, and have only started having them over the last week really, whereas last pregnancy I'm sure they started much earlier, and my first pregnancy I had none - it really varies.

Lolo - ice craving can be a sign of anaemia I read, I think you posted that your hb was a bit low? Nothing to worry about anyway.

Someone else posted something I was going to comment on....oh yes swigging Gaviscon - my midwife told me that if you really go overboard on it it can show up in the placenta which can be visibly calcified, so she recommended Slippery Elm - I'm not suffering too much from heartburn at the moment so I'm not too bothered but if your heartburn is terrible Gaviscon and similar should be used with a little caution...

Scan weight estimates can be pounds out, so a better guide is whether you feel you're carrying a big baby or not - I don't feel this baby is as big as my last (DD was 8lb) so I'm expecting it'll be 7lb something, we'll see....it's mostly head down and anterior (can feel hiccups very low down so know it's head down) so a change from my last couple of pregnancies where they were breech till late on, although I'm not sure it's not turned in the last day or so, felt hiccups round my bellybutton last night! My midwives have had 2 breech homebirths recently so at least I know they've got some recent experience if it does come to that.

Still don't feel anywhere near ready to have the baby but once the kids are back at school next week I'll do my final bits of preparation, get the birth pool next weekend I think (hiring a heated one with a lockable cover, so I can relax in it in the evenings), and then whenever....DS1 has important exams right around my due date so hopefully it will either be earlier or later than that, don't want to distract him!

I'm sure there was more stuff to comment on but this is long enough so will resist!

Good luck if you have your babies this week Mini

Slacker · 06/01/2008 17:49

Ooh Egg that sounds horrible - hope DH takes as much pressure off you as he can. Mine is doing everything when he is here, although he's out of the house 12 hours a day during the week so I can't be the total slob that I'd like to be!

Egg · 06/01/2008 17:51

Yep these tightenings are nothing like the contractions I had last time, but i never had any early labour last time and just went straight on into huuuuuuuuge contractions so I keep getting worried / excited. Also had a dodgy tummy before and during first couple of hours of labour last time.

Stomach is killing, but in a sicky way not a contraction way.

Egg · 06/01/2008 17:52

Sorry Slacker did not see your second message. My DH is out from 6:30am to 7:30pm most days of the week so in a similar boat. He is two hours away if I do go into labour........

sarahmikeandharry · 06/01/2008 18:41
